Great place for lunch. They’re busy but fast. Great food. If you need a quick fix this is the place to go. If you can get there while they are open.

For vegetarians: falafel! Good prices and good portion size. I got the rice with falafel, the rice is very good but the falafel is a bit dry. It’s a close walk to the metro stop on 8th and pine which is a bonus!

Stopped in here because of jury duty. I really like the concept. Gyros place with a chipotle type line where you pick your stuff. The line was efficient and I got my food quickly. The facility had plenty of space and was clean. The gyro I got had lots of meat on it. The bread was good and tasted like it had been warned on a grill. I also thought the sauce was right. While it may not be my favorite gyro place in STL, I would definitely do this place again for lunch.

Around noon, I walked into a long line waiting to place orders. It quickly went by, and I placed my order, watched it get made, and was surprised by the biggest and best gyro of my life! I will definitely be back and look forward to trying the doner kebab.

This is a regular lunch stop for me. The guys who work here have always been nothing but friendly and helpful. Most importantly, the food is delicious(and a pretty healthy choice). I wish they were open longer throughout the day.

Was just complaining that I couldn’t find chicken and rice anywhere like I do on NYC street corners and low and behold, Yiro Gyro has chicken and rice! I was pleasantly surprised by this place! Though, funny story, I went with the gyro and rice instead of chicken. I enjoyed my meal, I liked that I could choose what I wanted to add in for toppings. My only complaint was that I usually like more crispy or well done gyro meat and it wasn’t quite the way I liked it. I’m sure they could make it more crispy had I asked, so not fault of theirs. I’m giving it a 4 cause 1, it’s not open at night :(, and 2 it wasn’t quite NYC street style, but pretty darn close!

The gyros are MASSIVE! Don’t let the long line intimidate you as it goes by pretty fast

I liked this place. The employees were friendly, service was fast, and the food was tasty. I was able to save half of my doner kebab for later. I did have some difficulty communicating with some of the employees, but that could have been a noise issue or a language barrier. Still got my food in the end and liked it enough to decide that I will probably be coming back pretty often.

I love this place. It’s usually busy during lunch but the line moves fast and the food is worth the wait. I work just a few steps away and it is a fast lunch option I have yet to grow tired of. I always get the classic gyro with a few extra toppings and it is always fresh and delicious. The gyro meat is very traditional and tasty. I am a big guy and one gyro from this place fills me up just fine. I highly recommend Yiro Gyro as your next lunch spot.

Out of all the downtown Gyros places, this one might take the cake. You get the most bang for your buck here. A meal will be less then or right at about $ 10.00. They are very generous with the meat slabs. I got the Donar Kebab, and was a bit disappointed because I’m so used to the ones overseas. It wasn’t bad though. I didn’t like the bread they used for it. The name of the place is very clever. Being a Greek native, the term Yiro Yiro, means to ‘take a walk around the block’ in Greek slang. I think they incorporate a lot of Bosnian ideas into the food which is interesting for sure; the donar kebab was a good example of it. The establishment is clean, and it is laid out like an assembly line chipotle set up. I simply don’t like gyros, but that doesn’t mean you should not come visit. Staff is super friendly.

The beef/lamb gyro is delicious. The food here isn’t as inventive as the place down the street, but the flavors and quality are great, and it’s been consistent the several times I’ve been here. Don’t be turned away from the long lines either – it moves quickly.

Good people. Clean place. Pleasing atmosphere. Generous portions. Good food. Lunch for under $ 10. Veggie and gluten free choices. The falafel salad has become my «usual»(ask for it, its not on the menu).

Pros: I had the chicken over a bed of jasmine rice, which was super delicious and the meat portions were decent with lots of healthy veggie options to top off. Cons: layout of the restaurant is poor. The beverage station and station with cutlery/napkins etc. is right in the way of the line of customers so after you get your food you have to circle around, cut in the line of waiting patrons to get your drink, and then cut back through a tiny opening to have a seat. Also the line was extremely slow and inefficient. I’m hoping they can work out the small kinks in order to be competitive with the other two similar restaurants that have opened downtown. Overall I would for sure return and am very happy to see this space in downtown come to life!

Finally they’re open! We’ve watched them slowly get ready to open for so long. Great Gyros and hummus, nice simple menu, friendly staff and very well priced. Simply delicious! Hopefully they will expand hours in the future.

It appears they have worked out the kinks of the grand opening. Yes, excellent renditions of both the gyro and the doner kebab… I did both! However, a little confusion during the rush hour caused my order to be slightly flawed, but the tzaziki made up for it. Honestly, the only drawback currently is the 4 short hours a day they are open. As soon as the construction at the old Arcadia building are done, I’d expect expanded hours… but I understand. You’ll earn my 5th star when you add a beers to the drink options. Look forward to going back!

Excellent(said in a non-Mr. Burns voice)!!. I was actually headed elsewhere for lunch when I saw this… didn’t even know it was there. No line when I got there, but there was soon a constant but quick-moving line. Don’t let the volume of customers scare you off. The service is extremely fast. It took me longer to decide what I wanted than it actually took to get it. And I watched the line behind me move just as fast. Limited pre-determined menu items but with basically unlimited make-your-own meals. Choose from a wide array of very fresh ingredients. I had them make me a classic Greek salad with olives and a pita. So, so tasty! Staff was friendly and attentive. The place is clean, well-lit and open. Price was very fair for a good amount of food. I will definitely be back.

I will admit that I have not eaten at Yiro Gyro, but that is because the owner/manager/person I spoke with on the phone told me that there was absolutely nothing gluten free that I could eat at the restaurant. 1) I highly doubt that this is the case. Rather, the person I spoke with on the phone was lazy/irritated and didn’t feel like looking into the ingredients in their food and finding what is gluten free. «We have lamb» was their explanation for how their food was not gluten free. Lamb IS gluten free. I’ve had celiac for many years and I get so frustrated at these dismissive remarks from people in the food industry. I used to press and try to convince them that the certain food they are telling me is not gluten free is actually naturally gluten free, but I’ve given up. Instead, I will head to the other new mediterranean restaurant, Taze, down the street, that has ensured me and listed off several meals that I can make to be glutne free. 2) If this is actually the case, they should change their menu and be accomodative to an increasing trend of food intolerances and allergies. Lamb and other meats are naturally gluten free. Make an alternative rub that doesn’t have flour or soy sauce in it. You will not be sacrificing taste, trust me. This would only be to their advantage. If all restaurants were as dismissive towards people with celiac, then I could never go out to eat. Overall, I’m very disappointed. I work downtown and live very close so was excited to have another lunch option, but I guess neither I nor my group of coworkers will be dining at Yiro Gyro.

We have been waiting with great anticipaition for this to open downtown. The«down grade» of 1 star is not really a down grade, but indicates the issues with the start of a new place and the growing pains involved. I have no doubt they will get an upgrade to 5 stars if they keep up what we had tonight and fix the very minor issues we encountered(no ice, machine already not working). The service, and attentiveness of the staff was phenomenal. The food was fantastic. Plenty of meat on the traditional gyros, and the toppings were all fresh and of appropriate portion. The meat, while not cut from the spit when ordered, was still tender and did not appear chopped up or minced as some of the other recent locations that precut. I prefer a thicker cut, but that just a personal preference. Strongly recommend giving them a try during lunch if you get a chance. For those that live downtown, still recommend for lunch, and to tell them they should be open in the evenings also. Tonight was the first time they were open after 3pm, and it was just to test the waters on how much traffic they get. I live downtown, but don’t work downtown, so if the stay for the lunch crowd only, they are cutting out building a regular clientele that appreciates the various options down here. Best of luck to them and am ready for a return trip, assuming they are open in the evenings.

I was on a Gyro kick this week. tried Taze down the street and Yiro/Gyro… Yiro/Gyro was absolutely amazing. The gyro was HUGE! I literally took almost an hour of taking bites back at the office to try to finish it. I loaded mine with Tatziki, feta, lettuce, tomato, and onions. But before that, lets talk about the fresh grilled pillow pitas and gyro meat. Both were perfectly executed, both piping hot and served fresh, and both plentiful. The service was very quick and very friendly. Don’t change anything here, gents. I can see this place becoming a weekly stop on my lunch list for a long time to come.
