Great filling food as you get a lot for the money. Probably could eat here everyday since there is so many different meat and dressing options. Also has good flavor as this isn’t fast food that is normally available. So it’s a good alternative from eating chipotle and etc. Would like to try the mango sauce next time.

My wife and I went into this fine establishment for lunch unsure of what to expect. We were pleasantly surprised! The food was fresh; the customer service, exceptional; and most importantly, it was clean. If we ever find our way back to St. Louis in the near future, we will definitely make this restaurant a part of meal plan.

Very good! Got the beef/lamb taze meal with wheat pita bread, original hummus and quinoa salad! Pita chips are the best I’ve ever had– just wish they gave you a few more. Line was long but went relatively fast. Staff was very friendly, even in the midst of a busy dinner hour. Prices are great– we left very full for under $ 10 per person.

I got the build a bowl with half saffron rice and half greens & tandoor chicken with black olives, feta cheese, onions, cucumber, tomatoes and pickles with tzatziki sauce. There are 4 sauces we were allowed to sample before choosing. Then tabouleh — so fresh and refreshing– and caramalized onion hummus with balsamic– absolutely yummy and to die for — with fresh and crispy pita chips. Staff very helpful and quick service. This is a hidden gem in St Louis. We were surprised it wasn’t full on a Friday night. Food is unique, delicious, fresh and healthy with huge servings! Highly recommended for a taste of the Mediterranean! Hope to come back next time we’re in St Louis!

I’m not sure if this is a chain or not but we were pleasantly surprised to stumble upon this spot. The Midwest isn’t the easiest place in the world to find vegan/vegetarian options. however, this place held it down. The service was great. Everyone was helpful and friendly. We were definitely greeted with some Midwestern hospitality. The food was good and the portions were big but it was a littttttttle pricey! It wasn’t astronomical, but it was more than average.

First experience must’ve been a fluke. I’ve been back 3 more times since the first, and the employees have been super chill and attentive. Food has been great every time. The harissa is highly recommended if you like and can tolerate spicy food. And the garlic hummus is great.

Amazing. Just amazing. Like a Subway/Chipotle for Mediterranean food. I went here EVERY day during my 5 day stay in St. Louis, and it never failed to wow me. Get the tahini sauce — whatever you do. The carmelized onion hummus was to die for. I think I literally died when I first tasted it. And the pita chips… oh my God. If it’s fresh, it will be crispy and warm, and be the perfect compliment to the hummus mentioned above. Oh, and make sure you slather everything in TAHINISAUCE. Did I mention the tahini sauce was really good? This place is definitely better than the other Mediterranean joint down the street. I hated St. Louis, but my soul cries that I can’t take this food back to California with me.

I had read the reviews and decided to throw caution to the wind, park illegally and hop in to get some to go. I hate to use the phrase«it’s like Chipotle but for Mediterranean food,» but that’s the best way to describe it. Sorry, that’s really generic, I I know. Ok, ok, ok. If you have lived in the Chicago, Philly or D.C. areas, then think«Roti.» Very similar in concept but Taze has a wider selection and bigger portions. I opted for the greens(salad) bowl with chicken kebab, a load of veggies, two heaping spoonfuls of the tzatziki(nice and thick), plain hummus and the chickpea salad as my free side. Delicious! I also ordered a side of falafels(3 pieces). Those babies were cooked-to-order. Mmmmmmm, fresh and tasty, and not dry at all. I believe they also cook to order the french fries if you choose them as your side dish. If I worked downtown, I would be here once a week. ETA: the staff were super friendly and made my experience 5 stars! I wish they would have a tip line on the receipt. I didn’t have cash on me.

Solid Mediterranean food. Totally customizable with all the normal stuff plus some awesome sauces and fresh hummus. Plates are big portions and you can get several different things for around $ 10. I did a bowl with half salad and half saffron rice and it was a good choice. Couldn’t get enough of the harrissa sauce(spicey) but I went with friends who ordered the others and they are great too, they also have a hummus version that is fantastic. The meat has good flavor and isn’t dry despite the subway style layout and all the veggies were fresh and crisp. In addition to the excellent meal you can throw a rock at it from the convention center, so this will be a staple when we are in town.

We stopped by Taze after visiting the Home and Garden Show at the America Center. Since we did not eat much before the show, we left there starving and looking for a great place to try nearby. Walking in to Taze, we were immediately greeted by the friendly guys behind the counter, invited to come over, and they explained how Taze works. Justin, who we found out was the owner, was incredibly nice and helpful in walking us through the process and giving suggestions. Build your own meal is the theme as you can pick between a pita or bowl and then add your meat, vegetables, sauce, and sides. Both Dan and I chose to build a bowl though we had very different flavors. Dan got the Tandoori chicken with half rice, half greens, cucumbers, feta, and olives with Harissa and Tzatziki sauces(the guys were calling it «Awesome sauce!») with the Quinoa salad and Jalapeño hummus as sides. I chose the Gyro chicken with half rice, half greens, cucumbers, tomatoes, and feta in the Tahini sauce with Tabouleh and original hummus as my sides. We also enjoyed a beverage– a glass of Lagaria Pinot Grigio for me and a Schlafly beer for Dan. Flavorful and complex were each of our entrees in different ways– mine with the brightness of the Tahini with the savory nature of the Gyro chicken whereas Dan loved the spicy Harissa mixed with the creamy Tzatziki for a balanced finish. Also, we both loved our hummus and the perfectly fried pita that accompanied. To finish out our amazing experience, Justin brought over another glass of wine that was about ¾ full because it was the last of the bottle and he could not sell a not full glass of wine. How nice was that?! And to top it off he spent time talking with us and chatting about the restaurant. This is definitely someplace we want to return soon and would suggest to anyone. Happy eating!

I went back a second time and it was much better. The layout and atmosphere are inviting. I previously had to wait a long time, but things were much faster. I got the tandoor chicken which didn’t disappoint. The simple flavors leave you satisfied, but still wanting more. This time I got pita chips with my hummus and they were really good. The rice wasn’t dry and the experience was good. The staff was friendly and very accommodating. I highly recommend checking this place out if you haven’t. And if you had a mediocre experience, try again!

My favorite place in town to share a meal with friends while enjoying a great atmosphere. The stuff is really friendly and professional. Now I can brag to my friends from Montréal that we too, here in St Louis, have our very own restaurant where a Mediterranean food aficionado can savor some yummy dishes to match some of the reputable places you find abundantly over there. Go and try for yourself some ethnic food at its best! Oh! la la ! Que c’est bon!

Taze in the MX district of downtown is fresh and full of flavor. I normally go with the tandoor chicken or beef and lamb gyro on fresh made from scratch pita bread. The staff is always accommodating to any questions that I may have especially when it comes to all of their side options. I love the roasted eggplant side or the pearl Cous Cous. The line is always fast! They also have craft beer on tap and many wine options. Taze is a must see inside as well.

Where to start?! I’ve tried taze a few different times and was disappointed greatly. I’ve had gyro meat and chicken and both were very dry. Their sauce was bland, and overall everything else nothing special. What the biggest deal breaker for me was when I went last time, was getting a bad stomach ache after having the gyro meat on my entrée. I’m over this place.

I love this place, SO glad that we have it here Downtown. The ambience is very sleek, yet comfortable. Clean, well-lit, with high ceilings, and stylish décor. This is the most unique fast-casual concept I’ve experienced. Though I’m not a huge«Chipotle» fan(my first fast-casual experience) I found Taze to be different. I usually build my own rice bowls and have always found the ingredients to be very fresh and FLAVORFUL. The service is consistent– fast without feeling rushed and always friendly. The last time I was here they had Live Music, which was awesome, really great acoustics. Check them out! Regardless of your taste in food, they’ll surely have something you’ll enjoy. After all, I believe the menu was inspired by the cuisines these brothers tasted while traveling the world. :)

Picture a Mediterranean version of Chipotle, that’s Taze. Service is kind of slow here which is a little disappointing but the servers are nice and the atmosphere is nice and modern. There’s plenty of space here to bring large groups of friends, although that might make your wait even slower. They offer a large variety of meats and sides in the form of either a platter or a gyro and they allow you to have unlimited toppings which is nice. I got the gyro platter with quinoa and french fries, which wasn’t bad at lot especially for the price. It doesn’t blow my socks off but it’s definitely worth a try!

Great meal here. Fairly fast service and flavourful food. In town for a conference and a huge line formed here since its just across from the stadium. The line was around 40 min long and it continued outside. The staff was all very friendly and calm regardless of the line and crowd. They seemed to be expecting it. I got a rice bowl — very good portion! The rice is amazing, I got tandoor chicken, very good as well, not dry at all. I got the red spicy sauce. Was good. They allow unlimited toppings. 1 side and 1 hummus. I got a side of fries they were Medicore but was so filling. I got the original hummus came with 3 pita breads. The flavoured hummus cost 0.75 $ more. In total my meal was just 8.95 $ very good value for a large portion I could not finish it. There is seating inside. Self serve water and juice/pop stations.

This place is awesome! It’s a Mediterranean version of Chipotle, both in atmosphere and delivery process. Built my own gyro piece by piece, which came with my choice of sides(cous cous), hummus(jalapeño cilantro) and delicious pita chips. Lots of food for $ 10 after tax. I hope this place becomes as widely available as Chipotle — I want one in my city!

Really cute venue and super convenient location if your close to the convention center. I ordered the tandoor chicken bowl which I thought would be spicy but it wasn’t. I’d suggest passing on their rice if you like it flavorful. Really fast service. The chips are amazing and the hummus is super fresh.

It’s like the STL version of Cava, but not exactly. You still customize your dish by going down the line. The protein selection is very similar, but they have gyro(beef and lamb). I got that, but was disappointed when it was only about 3 – 4 thin strips. It was tasty though. Then you can add lettuce, rice, toppings, and various sauces. The harissa you get here is creamy. They give you a big ladle of it, so it’s obviously not as concentrated as the thick paste you’d get at Cava. It was still pretty tasty though. One of the most notable differences is the side dish you can chose. I got a side of fries, which were made fresh and delivered after I sat down. They were piping hot and crunchy, and amazing with the ‘Moroccan ketchup.” It tasted like ketchup with cinnamon in it. I forget what the other sides are, but it was surprising to see french fries with my «Cava» meal. The inside of the restaurant is pretty nice too. They had the projector on showing the cardinals/cubs game. Everything was clean, and modern looking as well. This is a great place for a quick, cheap, delicious bite.

Tazé is a casual Mediterranean spot that recently opened in downtown St. Louis. It’s relaxed vibe, clean modern décor, and friendly staff make it a wonderful place for lunch with friends. I ordered a lamb & beef gyro sandwich with a side of jalapeño hummus and cucumber tomato salad. The gyro meat was perfectly seasoned and the pita warm and clearly fresh. The jalapeño hummus was an interesting tasty twist to traditional hummus and was served with toasted pita chips. Next time you are in the area definitely stop by Tazé for a solid Mediterranean meal.

the best things about this place: the cool and hip atmosphere, the fresh ingredients, and the concept –chipotle style. i was really intrigued when i walked in and was pleasantly pleased to see the menu. i have a great appreciation for gyros! and to make it a little more fun, you get to build your own meal. start it off by choosing pita or rice bowl, then you choose your meat, then you select your veggies, and sauce. they also have an array of sides to choose from. and then when you think you’re done, it’s time to choose a type of hummus(and how you want it seasoned)! this meal will definitely leave you full. my hubs and i got two bowls and 1 beer, 1 soda for under $ 30 which isn’t too bad for the amount of food you get. unfortunately, other than the fresh veggies, everything else seemed over salted. the original hummus, the pita for hummus, the french fries, the sauce, the meat, ALLSALTY. my beef/lamb gyro meat was also super chewy and dry… this could be due to the low turnover rate of the meat. the hummus was also drier than i would like. also, i don’t think the décor and the style of food really match, but the décor is super cool, modern, and contemporary. the did a great job with the space and its designs. parking in the area might be a pain.

My county and Illinois friends now have another reason to come to downtown Saint Louis, besides a Cardinal or Rams game. Taze is a creative new twist on Mediterranean food, it is high-end fast food at an affordable price. It is build your own, with fresh, quality ingredients. Think Chipotle or Qudoba, or even Subway. You first pick your type of pita, I choose whole wheat. Then you select your meat and all the fresh toppings you want. Then you select a side; mine was fries. As if that isn’t enough food, they offer you a scoop of humus as well. My meat was beef & lamb, which was tender as tender could be. The fries were skin on Russet potatoes, that were gourmet burger joint quality. Being a fan of Jalapeños, I couldn’t resist their Jalapeño humus and it left me speechless. Enjoy before or after a game. Or make a special trip downtown and enjoy Taze. It is well worth risking your life and making the trip to downtown Saint Louis. First, I hate writing a review on bad food… because that means I ate bad food. Congrats, you’ve earned my coveted 1-star, but I’d like a refund. I’m the type than can power-through most food, but couldn’t this time. Should have read the negative reviews Here are the highlights: — don’t know how, but fries tasted fishy… but that’s impossible without fish on the menu, I’m guessing really old oil — 8:30pm(1.5 hours before closing), and the guy assembling the gyro asks chicken or beef/lamb. I choose chicken. He says, it’s warming up. I say, «ok, I’ll do beef/lamb», to which he says«it’s warming up». Ok, he’s clearly not ready… so after 10 minutes of watching meat spin/burn, umm please remove fast food from your pitch! — The worst part, after watching the guy fight with the saw to coax the meat off the spit, I commented«man you really had to fight to get that off!». He mumbled and then asked what I wanted on it. Ok… — food was burnt ends and way overpowering rich! In the last month, 3 Mediterranean places have opened downtown StL… I rank you a DISTANT3 out of 3! Maybe you’d be better off at lunchtime when your food is fresh… but at night it was downright awful.

I came here for an unofficial Unilocal Event. International Supper Club. One of my favorite events put on by Sarah. She does wonderful work making sure everything is in place for the supper club. Taze is an interesting concept. Street food served in a café setting. You go through the line like a cafeteria. And they will customize your order the way you want it. I ordered a gyro and had it my way. Feta, cucumber, onions, olives, with beef and lamb. I really like the gyro as it was made to my specifications. Taze is one of places I would never would have gone unless the supper club had it. I also know my wife would not have enjoyed it. The beef and pork kabobs would have been a little to dry for her tastes as she likes the meat to be tender moist.

Glad to have this concept in STL! Excited to get back there for the ISC later this week because it will give me an opportunity to try the other half of their menu. First impressions: Love the theme — the whole Qdoba/Chipolte/Subway thing really works well with their Mediterranean theme. I enjoyed being able to select so many things to go with the house-made pita bread. Great baba ganoj — nice balance between the various flavors without any of them overpowering the dish. So many places overuse garlic in this dish but these guys nailed the ratio. Best bite without question. Roasted eggplant — this one would have been the best bite if I hadn’t asked for some baba ganoj as well. I really enjoyed the smokiness. Falafel — very solid offering with an unusual consistency, almost as though they decided to go with a coarser grind on the garbanzo beans than most other places. A great offering for the vegetarians and those who just like to skip the meat in some meals. Beef kabab — now we’re getting to the point where the star was lost. The meat was overcooked and seemed to have been held a little too long based on the toughness. Also, it was too salty. Baklava — burned on the bottom, dry and generally lacking those flavors that make a baklava great(honey, pistachio, rose water). This one would have gone back had the topic of going for ice cream not come up already.

I hate only leaving three stars for something I was so excited to try. I followed them religiously on facebook for months, but the end result was just ‘ok’. I ordered a beef/lamb gyro, cucumber/tomato, and a side of original hummus with some extra pita bread for us to try. The meat was not impressive, very dry, lacking flavor, full of gristle in the meat, and I felt like it had been sitting there for a long time even though we were there at the lunch rush. The cucumber/tomato was good, the hummus I felt lacked salt, though just a personal taste I’m sure. Where i really felt they had a problem was with the pita bread. They have a wonderful, amazing pita oven, and the pitas tasted like flatbread pizza dough. way too much flour still on them(which went everywhere while eating), they didn’t fluff up into a pillowy pita to hold things together. This may be all due to being new, figuring things out. I will definitely give it another try in a couple of months, but with so many options opening downtown for a great gyro, they need to get the meat and pita issues figured out. These are really cool guys, so I hope they turn this review into a raving review soon!

I originally noticed Tazé while waking back to my hotel from another restaurant. The staff were so engaging and welcoming that I decided to try them out the next night for dinner. I am extremely glad that I did. The staff did not disappoint. The moment I walked through the door I was immediately greater and get welcomed to the restaurant. The menu is basically a choose your own adventure eating experience. If you are unfamiliar with any of the choices he staff were more than helpful at explaining what hints were and letting you taste your choices. Everything wash to fresh and you can taste the care that was put into each component. I selected the white pita with gyro meat, mixed greens, tomatoes, onions, feta, garlic tahini, babaganoush, and caramelized onion & balsamic hummus. The portion was so big I had to eat it with a fork and knife. Each individual component worked to create a harmony of flavors in my mouth. I finished my meal 20 minutes ago and while I am full, my pallet in still longing for more. Had I found Tazé sooner I might not have eaten anywhere else while I visited St. Louis. If you are anywhere near down town, you owe it to yourself visit Tazé and create and adventure of your own.

I was so excited for this place to open that I packed up my infant and braved the heat. I love this type of food and I also love being able to customize my meal with the toppings that I want. I wanted and was greeted by a very friendly man. First you choose if you want a pita(white or wheat), saffron rice or mixed greens. Then you choose your protein. There are meat options like gyro and also vegetarian options like falafel and Portobella. Then you get to choose what toppings you want like feta, veggies and sauces. I chose the white pita, falafel, and various toppings including feta, cucumbers, and mixed greens. you also get to choose from a variety of sauces like tzaziki, tahini, Harissa and a mango sauce. Finally you get to choose a side. There are many choices including french fries and Mediterranean salads(couscous, tabbouleh, etc). Finally they will give you a scoop of hummus. There are a variety of flavors. I chose fries and the original hummus for the side. My food was delicious. You can see how fresh everything is, from the meat being cut to the pitas being fired in their oven. The pita was the perfect consistency and huge. I ended up cutting mine into quarters and dividing the toppings between the four so I could eat it with my hands. The vegetables were also very fresh and the falafel was delicious. Everything made here is made from scratch and delicious. Even the fries were obviously hand cut and very good. The portion size was very large and with a drink I got all of that for about $ 11. Score! There is a menu of appetizer type of small plates as well but they are only served after 4PM. I plan on visiting in the evening to try some of those items. Everything was ready quickly and the service was friendly. You could tell that they just opened because there were a few small confusions but that is to be expected with the new place. The only thing that I didn’t like about this place is its location! Not convenient for someone who doesn’t live or work downtown to visit regularly. Plus parking is not great. You have to park a few blocks away if you want street parking or there are some garages in the area. that being said, I like it so much that I will definitely make an effort to return. I also plan on bringing my international supper club for dinner soon.
