My daughter and I had brunch here this morning. On the positive side food and service were good. We had the bacon avocado scramble, which came with English muffin and a very small fresh fruit cup. Portions were perfect for us, but maybe a bit small for larger appetites. They have a nice menu offering breakfast and lunch items. The place is small and on the corner of a strip mall but it’s clean and modern. Only down sides, 20 – 30 minute wait and food a bit slow in arriving at the table. All and all a nice brunch place, though we will be checking out one closed to our neighborhood.

First time here. Great experience, very friendly service. We will be back. The food was great. The menu gave a lot of choices, but was not over complicated.

Been here twice and my 2 visits have been a whole year apart. It is quickly becoming an after Thanksgiving tradition(perhaps). Last year, I remembered clearly why I wanted to come here: people were impressed with their eggs benedict, the crab cake specifically and I love poached eggs and crab cakes. I tried the eggs benedict with crab cake last year and I liked it as far as I can remember. This year, I came in with the same agenda which is to order eggs benedict. I got the one with ham and english muffin topped with hollandaise sauce and a side of ranch potatoes. Eh… Why not? The eggs benedict were wonderful. I hate eggs in general but will eat hard boiled and poached eggs so this place was actually perfect because they serve poached eggs in many different ways with other protein choices. They had some interesting omelettes in their menu as well, however, I had some scrambled egg whites the day before for breakfast and wasn’t really feeling it. I stuck with what I like and came out happy. Maybe I’ll come back in another year? I would love to come back sooner than that!

I had a great meal here with my Mom and Dad when I was in town to visit them. I’m a «problem child» when I go out to eat because I have lots of allergies, but they had some great options on the menu here for me. I got no questions or comments about my order. The parking here is kind of scarce, but when we went there was plenty. Our server was attentive and the food was hot and served quickly. I have no complaints. Honestly I’m still missing The Parkmoor and haven’t found a great breakfast joint to replace that.

Fast and friendly service. Variety of menu options. Gourmet coffee. What’s not to love! Food was fresh and tasted great. Had a veggie breakfast burrito with a side of potatoes. Everything was well-prepared and served hot. Plenty of things to choose from including several vegetarian-friendly dishes. Looking forward to eating here again!

Every time I come here I say it will be the last. They have young girls working the front desk who can’t prioritize and therefore the wait is unnecessary. Also the food always disappoints. The only reason I am here today is I have a coupon. Not worth it.

The service was excellent and we only had a ten minute wait time. The food was good, but some of our side dishes were mixed up. We didn’t think this was a huge deal and corrected it. The portions were a little large in my opinion, but that’s not necessarily a negative.

Good breakfast, good service, large portions, and fair prices. Coffee was pretty good, and they had a couple of different flavors. I had the breakfast burrito, which was good, but had way to much eggs in it. I would have liked a few more vegetables in my burrito, but it was good none the less. The sausage and bacon were good.

Okay food and service. Pretty friendly staff. Nothing really wowing about the place but if you’re looking for a simple egg-y breakfast, this isn’t a bad joint.

Love this place! Such a cute little restaurant with delicious food. I have been here many times and I love their Viva La France French Toast, Pancakes, and Strawberry Banana Waffle. You really can’t go wrong here!

We have eaten at this location of the egg and I a few times now — the food has always been good and our waiter has always been attentive and friendly. But each time the person who is at the hostess podium has been unfriendly and apathetic. It truly is enough to keep us away. It’s a shame because the rest of the experience is fine but you feel out of sorts from the very beginning. Can’t even cut her a break because the restaurant is so busy– each time we managed to come at a time when there were available tables and plenty of servers.

Very friendly, attentive staff, the eggs were the best, most fluffy, sweet, delicious, perfectly cooked, did I say delicious. Waffle was big, crispy, buttery, fluffy on the inside, just perfect. Blueberry pancake was also crispy on the outside but fluffy and delicious on the inside. Will be back with friends soon!

I stopped in for breakfast one cold morning with a buddy of mine. I had driven by this location for two years before I finally decided it was time to move in for the test. It has a First Watch feel, so nothing I am not used to. The menu was very eggy, but what would you expect, it’s in the name. I had a cheesy egg omelette with potatoes. The potatoes are very similar to the same skillet potatoes served at First Watch as well, no surprise there, but still tasty. I asked to have bacon put in or on the cheesy omelette. They said they couldn’t do that, but could bring me a side of bacon. I was a bit put off by this, hasn’t Burger King shown how«my way» is the best way to make the consumer happy? It’s not like I was asking to ketchup for a slow cooked prime rib. I rarely find places that refuse to conform to a request, even when you offer to pay for it. This didn’t sit well with me and I couldn’t shake the feeling of not letting me customize my meal when I am paying $ 9 plus $ 2 for what is effectively a $ 2 omelette and $.50 of bacon, but I will move on. The coffee was good, nothing special, but better than Denny’s. …OK, I tried, but I have to go back to the bacon thing… how much of an inconvenience is adding some chopped bacon to the cheese on the omelette, or even just laying two strips on the top of the omelette within the melting cheese… that’s all I was asking for. Nothing special, nothing difficult and nothing that would compromise the integrity of meal. I don’t think I am ever going to get over it, so I probably won’t go back, but that’s OK, there are other options for breakfast, especially at this price. It seems to fit the slightly pretentious feel of the Des Peres, Glendale and Kirkwood areas which is sad, that name is so dang cute.

It’s not a bad place, menu slightly better than a First Watch. Be prepared to wait on a weekend morning as everyone is out an about. I still maintain I can make a better breakfast at home, so it’s not a place I would frequent often but the joint serves its purpose.

This is the first time I’ve had to lower my review in an update, and I“m sad I have to do so, but it is needed. Why is it needed, you may ask? Well, today when I ate at «The Egg and I» with my lady it was series of mishaps that actually resulted in me getting a nasty cut at the end! We were told it would be a 10 minute wait but after only 3 minutes we were seated, which was a good start – but sadly things would go downhill from there. When ordering we were told that the restaurant was out of ranch dressing, of all things. How does a place run out of ranch? We asked and were told they make it there, so okay, no big upset. This is where things start being troublesome. We were waiting awhile for our food, I mean a good long while. Then eventually a good deal of time after ordering our food(20 – 25 minutes) our server came up to our table and said she was sorry, but at some point our ticket had gotten, «Lost,» but now our stuff was finally being cooked and would be out to us soon. When she said it had been lost I and my lady were pretty sure that was her own code for, «I forgot to turn it in,» but oh well, at least our food did eventually come out and was tasty. As we finished our meal I got up to go pay our bill and at this point the bench-seat in my booth had a wood plank come loose, fly up, and scratch me right across my wrist. It didn’t hurt too much, but I noticed as I continued walking-up to pay that my wrist was starting to bleed. When I got to the register I showed the manager who was standing near it and she ran and grabbed me a band-aid. That was nice of her to get me a band-aid but then no offer was made to write-up an accident report(which I would have declined as it wasn’t too bad a cut, but being offered that would have nice). Also, it may be a bit presumptuous but I thought after our meal being horribly delayed and then my being scratched-up perhaps they would have taken our drinks off our bill or SOMETHING to make-up for this series of unfortunate events, but nope, it was just a full-charge. The food was still good, but between the order getting lost and the response to my injury I feel I need to lower my review of «The Egg and I» in the hopes that future visits will go more smoothly and of course not end with me bleeding. On a positive note, they did completely move the plank off the bench and put up a sign saying it was unavailable, so at least no one else will get injured until it is fixed.

We both were craving Eggs Benedict and The Egg & I, offers 7 different versions so it was easy to find one that satisfied our tastebuds. Being a beautiful day, we enjoyed our breakfast on the patio. I admit the view is a parking lot, but at least we were outside in the fresh air. My Dining Partner ordered the, New Orleans Benedict which was a Home-style biscuit topped with Andouille sausage and tomato gravy, diced ham, green onions, two poached eggs and hollandaise sauce. The biscuit was flakey and the mix of tomato gravy and the hollandaise sauce was interesting. It made for an enticing mix of flavors. I choose a healthier one, the Veggie Benedict. Two English muffin halves layered with mushrooms, spinach, artichoke hearts, asparagus and tomatoes. Topped with two poached eggs, hollandaise sauce and fresh green onions. I was sold on this one when I saw, spinach and asparagus in the same dish. Adding artichoke hearts and mushrooms was a bonus. For those of you not familiar with The Egg and I, it is very similar to First Watch. It is only open for breakfast and lunch. It closes at 2PM and on Saturday and Sunday, stays open and extra half hour. It focuses on the first two meals of the day and does them well. Worth the drive from the city? Probably not, but when in the area it’s a good choice.

Today was the first time I have ever eaten here and it was fantastic. Even though it was a busy Saturday morning we were seated in less than 10 minutes. We received great service from Tia and all other staff were very attentive as well. Our food arrived quickly and was really good. I ordered the Cajun Benedict and really enjoyed it. The menu was full of many creative dishes that you don’t see at every run of the mill breakfast joint. I couldn’t help but notice how well managed the kitchen and staff were! There were lots of staff on duty and everyone was doing what they were supposed to do with a great attidude and smile. I’ll be back!

We went here around 10:45 am and had a 10 minute wait. I prefer this brunch place over First Watch because of the fresh flowers and delicious ranch potatoes. The food took longer than usual to come out, however the server came by and let us know about the wait and made sure our drinks were filled. My Wild Mushroom Hash was very good and my boyfriend loved his apple pancake. It was unfortunate that our service ended on a bad note. The hostess/cashier continued her conversation with another hostess when we came up to pay. While she took our payment she still was focused on her coworker and we felt slighted.

Their sister restaurant let me down and caused me professional embarrassment when they called me back(after the invites were sent) to inform me that the room I had reserved for a business meeting actually was unavailable. Sorry. Seriously, that was the best the Chesterfield location could manage. Fortunately, they passed my contact information to the manager of this location and she reached out to me to see if I could move my meeting there. I’m glad I did. We came for breakfast and the meeting took so long that we had lunch also. Could this be considered brunch as has been suggested? If so, a plate of eggs followed by a reuben would be one really strange brunch. Maybe we are better off to consider this two meals. The eggs were nice and fluffy — cooked perfectly although they were in need of some salt. I almost never add salt to anything I get in a restaurant but these needed a little. The sausage was slightly spicy and nicely browned. The sourdough toast was yummy also. I asked for the ranch potatoes and picked at them a little but still prefer hash browns. Others had a variety of dishes and all seemed to enjoy them. For lunch we had the reuben. Not sure how it happened but everyone ordered the same thing. Mine was good and nobody complained. I would order this sandwich again as I really like reubens made with shave corned beef instead of slices(unless they are hand-carved slices) because that version always strikes me as being too closely related to something that came out a deli meat case at the grocery. I’m glad the manager of this location reached out to me. Their Chesterfield location is dead to me now.

Great coffee! Multiple coffee choices to be exact, which is awesome. I think I read that they grind their coffee fresh in the morning and it showed. The bold roast was fantastic. Best part, they give a to-go cup so not a drop is wasted! Very good healthy breakfast options. I had the Mediterranean Frittata. It was really good and the fresh fruit was ripe, which is always nice in the winter. Wish there was one closer to us, but it’s a good substitute if there’s not a First Watch close by.

Don’t think we will be back anytime soon. Staff seemed overwhelmed. We were waited on by two people who had to eventually decide whose table it was. Took a long time to get drinks. Waitress was not familiar with menu and had to repeatedly go ask for help. Other tables had to hunt down staff to get service. The restaurant was loud too as the glass windows just reflected all the conversations and noise back in to the room. Tables took a long time to get bussed. There were often people waiting to be seated with tables open. We got our food and finally ate. It was OK. I have posted a few photos of the things we ordered. The Patriot Waffle was a standard waffle with thawed fruit on top. My Crabs Benedict tasted very fishy(not bad, just more like fish than crab). The Pineapple pancake got a good review from my Father-In-Law. In closing, the place was just almost OK. In all the choices we have now for breakfast this restaurant will probably not come up as a choice.

Updating this review to add another favorite: This is a chain restaurant that recently opened in the Des Peres area on Manchester at the end of a shopping plaza. They have a huge menu full of variety. Service is friendly, the place is clean, and I especially like that they have tissues in the bathroom. Here’s my favorites so far: The pancakes are huge — cover the entire plate — and they are very tasty. I’ve also had the Mexican omelet covered with salsa, and that was very good, too. The biscuit and gravy meal was quite good — fresh, fluffy biscuit w/a good sausage gravy that was the write amount of creamy and peppery. I’m looking forward to our next visit. I wish there were other locations here in St Louis.
