My husband is from San Antonio and has been desperately trying to find good Mexican food in St. Louis, to no avail. There are so many baja places like Mission Taco and Fuzzys, which are tasty in their own right, but not what we were looking for. We found Taqueria El Bronco and now we eat here at least once a month! Best tacos in St. Louis, without a doubt! I can’t say enough good things about the food.

I highly recommend the carnitas, al pastor, or steak for meat choices. The chicken in red sauce was forgettable. Tostadas and tacos were awesome. I normally don’t really care about queso but theirs is delicious. I love the ambiance of the place, it has great music, and service is prompt.

Fantastic place. Got a chorizo, al pastor, and beef tongue. I really liked the al pastor and the chorizo. in fact, I prefer the al pastor tacos here to the ones at la vallesana. The beef tongue was pretty good too, but I prefer la vallesana’s. They server a green and a red salsa with chips when you show up. The red is very tomato-y and the green is actually fairly spicy. Delicious on both accounts. I’ll have to drag the bf here sometime.

I haven’t been to my mother’s homeland, Los Aldams, Tamaulipas, in a long time, this place made me feel like I was there. The salsa is amazing and they have beef tongue street tacos. Yum! They also serve breakfast items for lunch and dinner.

Fabulous! Four of us went after going to Holiday Lights at AB. It had been a long day and we were starving. I used Unilocal to research restaurants near the brewery. We decided on Mexican. This place was not impressive from the curb, people«panhandling»(why does that sound so much better than«begging») outside and very little ambiance. Bright lights and minimalistic décor inside. We had a very friendly waitress who was very attentive. We were served very fresh chips with 2 kinds of salsa; a smooth, savory red and a smooth but very spicy green salsa. Of the 4 of us we had, tacos, enchiladas, quesadillas and a burrito. The sides were very authentic rice and amazing refried beans that were still in the shape of beans. The burrito was huge and an entrée by itself! The tacos had amazing freche cheese and the shells were light and crispy. The quesadilla was huge and the enchilada sauce was amazing! We feel very lucky to have stumbled upon this place and cannot wait to go back!!!

Very good food. I’ve been to Texas so it’s hard to compare to TexMex, but it was definitely worth the price. Better than other Mexican I’ve had in St. Louis. Staff was very friendly.

While visiting from out of town, my friend took my girlfriend and I here as I was craving tacos. I consider myself a taco aficionado, so needless to say, these were the best tacos Ive ever eaten! I had the carnitas, steak and al pastor. All we’re complete winners and tried my buddies lengua taco, also completely delicious gf had a burrito which she finished before we were done with our 3 tacos… can’t wait until I’m back in StL again! Go here!!!

Taqueria El Bronco was a nice Friday lunch. I ordered a small guacamole(great!), 1 Carnitas taco, 1 Shrimp taco, and 1 Al Pastor taco. All tacos on corn tortillas with onion and cilantro and 1 slice of radish and the lime wedge. My least favorite of the 3 was the shrimp. I felt the flavor was a little lacking. The carnitas and al pastor were very good. This isn’t my new favorite but it was very good. I’d come back just for chips, the 2 salsas(rojo y verde) and the guacamole alone!

This place reminded me of the taco spots back home in Oxnard. I hesitate to call it «authentic” – where I’m from, whether at a restaurant or in my abuelita’s kitchen, that just *is* Mexican food. Given my expectations, though, I came away from El Bronco feeling really pleased. Very decent taco de lengua; good, hearty portion of menudo(could have sworn I ordered the medium, not the large!); and my mom had a perfectly crisped fish torta with a nicely-sized piece of fish inside. I wasn’t wowed by the menudo at first, until I realized I hadn’t fully emptied my plate of accompaniments – gotta put in ALL of the cilantro, onions, and chiles, and squeeze out ALL of the lime juice. Threw in a little extra of their excellent salsas, and it was perfect, even though it was missing the hominy, which I usually like, because of how much meat there was.

5 stars alone for the tacos de cabeza — the flavorfulness and textures knock tacos outta the park. I’ve tried most of their tacos but order only these because they’re THEBEST. The best authentic street tacos I’ve ever eaten. I moved away and have not found comparable tacos de cabeza since. I dream of these and will eat them specifically next I’m in STL.

Taqueria El Bronco is the most popular restaurant on Cherokee Street, and that’s saying a lot. Cherokee Street is known for its delicious Mexican food, and as time goes by, more and more restaurants are popping up to compete for the recent influx of hip, young customers. Taqueria El Bronco is still on top, though, and it’s a position it mostly deserves. It’s only my second-favorite taqueria on Cherokee Street, but it has a large menu and a selection of dirt cheap kool-aid-tasting margaritas that make it more of a crowd-pleaser than the smaller establishments. Taqueria El Bronco specializes in tortillas filled with grilled meat, and they’re good at it. They’re a lot less good at everything that isn’t tortillas filled with meat: beans, rice, vegetables, salsa, etc. So if you visit Taqueria El Bronco –and you should; it’s an institution– you’ll have the best experience if you order meat-and-tortilla dishes a la carte. Get the tacos; skip the rice.

Very Authentic Mexican Restaurant! The staff is friendly, the food is good, and prices are cheap! It’s a win, win, win! A friend and I dined on the A La Cart menu and had $ 2 steak and chicken tacos and $ 2.50 shrimp tacos with $ 4 good sized strawberry margaritas! You can’t beat it. I wish that the margaritas were frozen but you can’t beat the price for the large sizes. I also like that the waitress automatically gave us two flavors of salsa(verde and regular) with our chips without needing to be asked. Also, lots of TVs showing sports and other programs around the entire restaurant. Looking for Mexican food, consider this.

Definitely the most authentic mexican food I’ve been able to find(so far) in Saint Louis. It may not be exactly what I’m used to from further down south, but it’s pretty darn close. The shredded chicken is slow cooked and falling-apart-tender. Everything tasted fresh. Their refried beans are straight up awesome, so mix them into your rice, eat them on a burrito –whatever you do with them, it’ll be good. The people working there were also very helpful. I asked for shredded chicken in my chile relleno, and they happily made it for me, which I thought was really nice! The rice is a little unusual for a mexican restaurant, but still really yummy. I highly recommend you stop by here the next time you’re in the area, or even that you go out of your way to try it. It’s that good!

Authentic Mexican food, 100% delicious. If you want to have a real Mexican dining experience, then come here. Almost all of the customers are Mexican(or Latino/Central American) and they always show TV programs from Mexico… people speak Spanish a lot here. Food is very affordable. Everything is so yummy, including tacos. They also offer authentic Mexican pop sodas here. Whenever I am here, I feel like I’m back home in Mexico. I really love this place.

Good, quick, Mexican food. Very legit. On a street with tough Mexican food competition, this restaurant can hold its own. The margarita’s were good too. Not too sour helping with the usual heart burn. The food came out very quickly and had good fresh ingredients.

This is the real deal!!! Mexican food the way it is meant to be prepared! The menu provides a multitude of options to include: seafood stew, fresh whole fish with homemade salsa(fabulous!), street tacos, traditional options, and many more! The aqua Fresca is housemade and delicious… Every dish that I have had has been excellent: full of flavor, large portions, very reasonable pricing, and again, it is the real deal: great and delicious Mexican food!!! There are many Mexican restaurants on Cherokee Street and some of them have a great street appeal, BUT if you want delicious food, this is your place!

This has officially become our«go to» when we are in the mood for great, inexpensive, authentic Mexican food. Margarita’s are the best! The service is usually spot on. but hey, when they are packed you may need to flag someone down if you need another drink. you can always go up to the register and they will get your ticket for you. I have 2 issues, neither about the place specifically. 1. The begger outside always asking for money to feed his daughters. I have heard him tell the guy at the bodega next door that he targets women cause they feel sorry for his«daughters» and that he was going to have to find a new location when it got too cold. and that he was meeting people at «the chinaman» for dinner with his mom. 2. It’s a Mexican place with people that speak English as a second language for the most part. so tell me WHY am I having to listen to a folk band. Don’t get me wrong, I LOVE(exaggeration. more like a lower case love) fold music, but please. please. please. do NOT turn Taqueria El Bronco into«Hipster Mexican». . steps off soap box.
