Chaparritos

Amazing Mexican restaurant! The owner is super friendly and remembers his customers. You can easily see that he takes pride in his work. The food always comes out quickly and the serving sizes are generous. My favorite dishes are the Pollo Adobado and the Taco Salad or Fajita’s, but I’ve loved every dish that I’ve tried.

Dude no joke the tacos here are FANTASTICALLY good, and I’m from L.A. These are the best on Cherokee. Also chile verde is really good. You should come eat here and support this place!

Great authentic Mexican restaurant! I ordered a taco al pastor and horchata – both were excellent. The guacamole was also very good, and it was a huge portion, easily double what I’ve seen in other restaurants.

This was the best Mexican restaurant experience I’ve had in St. Louis — I highly recommend Chaparritos!
I shared the ceviche platter with my wife. I was hesitant to order it because all of my past ceviche experiences resulted in small plates. I’m a college student at heart and long for large portions — this ceviche experience passed the test. Great proportion of fish to vegetable/​tomato, and just the right amount of lime throughout. The jalapeño and cucumber were great additions and balanced each other quite well.
We went with a group, and I sampled the carne asada, fajita nachos, and guacamole as well. The carne asada was delicious, and the portion size was great. Same on the fajita nachos — less than $ 9 for a mountain of chips, meat, and vegetables. The guacamole was great, too, both quality and value. I would definitely come back to Chaparritos.

Yum, this was a great place for lunch. Walked in and all the other patrons were Latino — always a good sign in a Mexican restaurant. My husband had a spicy shrimp dish that came with a dozen shrimp. I had a steak quesadilla that had peppers and onions grilled with it. My daughter had a make your own combination plate with a tamale and chicken enchiladas with mole sauce. We were all happy with our selections. Started off with guacamole that was freshly made with tomatoes, onions and cilantro and was chunky, just like I like it. The chips and salsa were refilled frequently and we enjoyed the margaritas. Small, clean dining area and very attentive staff. I highly recommend this place.

Excellent tacos, very authentic Mexican-​style. They offer 3 tacos (beef, chicken, pork, etc.) along with a side of rice and beans. They play nice Mexican /​Latin American music and they have two TVs showing Mexican TV channels.
The menu is diverse – they offer arroz con pollo, carne asada, etc…
It is a quiet establishment so you can expect to eat your meal there in peace.
I noticed everyone keeps going to El Taqueria Bronco, which is also good – but you’ll get food just as good here.
I will eat here again next time I go to Cherokee.
