Best Mediterranean food in stl! The Gyros are absolutely amazing. And the Arabic coffee(if you like it) with a Mamuul is such a treat :) One of my new favorite places in the central west end.

It was surprising to see how empty this place was considering how incredible my food tasted. Bilal made our experience so much more personable and happily catered to all of our off-the-menu requests. I had one of the best gyros I’ve ever had from here and the falafel was also delightful. Everything is freshly made to order. Order the mango smoothie!

The owner’s commitment to his restaurant is inspiring in and of itself. The restaurant is conveniently located and near the hospital. My friend and I had never been here so we didn’t really know what to get. The owner came out and managed to convince us in about 30 seconds to order the deluxe so we did and got a hummus plate to share. The hummus is delicious & unique. The deluxe was really yummy as well. I’m normally not a fan of lamb meat, but I actually enjoyed my dish. The bill came out to $ 35.55 but he only charged me $ 35. This is a man who believes in his food — and for good reason! If I’m back in town, I’ll definitely come back here.

Friend suggested this for lunch, how have I been missing this for so long?! It’s a short walk from the medical facilities and it was probably the best lunch I have had in a while. I had the tilapia and it was well seared and came with vegetables and pita, it was really delicious. I didn’t get to try any of the desserts, but they looked so good in the cases. I can’t wait to come back here sometime for dinner. The only detriment was that because it was empty today at lunch service wasn’t that quick after we had our meals. I do enjoy how they leave a pitcher of water on the table for you to refill on demand, though.

I try to not to give out 5-star ratings that often, but this place really deserved it. The entire restaurant is run by one man who is chef, server, and host all at once — but doesn’t let this affect the quality of the food or service in any way. He is extremely attentive to his customers and genuinely wants everyone to have a good dining experience. I shared the deluxe gyro and chicken gyro with a friend and let me say — they are EXCELLENT. The deluxe gyro comes with lamb that is tender and extremely flavorful. It seems tough at first, but melts once it is in your mouth. The tzatziki sauce complements it perfectly. The chicken gyro was actually recommended to me by the owner, and it lived up to everything he said it was going to be. Tender, juicy, and full of flavor. Will definitely be back.

This was the most amazing hummus I’ve ever had. If that’s all you take away from this review, then I feel I’ve done my duty. I found this on Unilocal when I needed a place to eat lunch in the area. I was not expecting the amazingness that I found. The owner was wonderful. Attentive, friendly, charming, kind, everything I could ever want in a server. Oh. He’s also the server. The first day I tried the stuffed eggplant, which was really good. But the hummus was to die for. I mean, I really love hummus, but I REALLY loved this hummus. It’s nearly ruined all other hummuses out there for me. Now I only want this one. I was so impressed by this place I came back the next day. This time I got the Middle Eastern plate. So good!!! I can’t wait to come back here again.

This place is a hidden gem of St. Louis. The owner/waiter/cashier/chef(yes it is only one man that runs the entire show) is a witty and comical man. The wait was unbelievably short. My food always arrives no later than 10 minutes after I order it. And the food is amazing. He makes his own hummus, and it is The best in St. Louis that I have had. I try to order something new every time, but the gyros are always my favorite. My only advice to the owner would get a more prominent sign. The location is prime, but many people don’t know about it because the windows are dark and the sign is tiny.

Best gyro in St. Louis! Great Baba Ganoush and hummus as well. Pretty much anything you order here will be good. On top of that, the restaurant is run completely by one guy, but he does a great job. The food is also cooked very quickly, and it is a place where you can be in and out in 20 – 30 minutes, if you eat in the restaurant. Even the best Greek restaurants in the area cannot make a better gyro!

This place is really great if you love Greek food. The owner is super friendly and knows how to cook. The grape leaves are delicious and a great way to start the meal. It comes with a side of fresh hummus and pita bread. I got the Greek salad with chicken as my main course. The chicken was great and tasty. My only complaint would be there was not enough dressing, but that is a simple fix with a simple request. My friends got the gyros, which looked amazing. This is truly a hidden gem in St. Louis!

Oasis is another restaurant that flys under the radar. It’s easy to miss: no loud advertisement, no neon, no over-the-top décor that is characteristic of some of its neighboring restaurants. If you walk by too quickly, you might even miss it. Trust me, you don’t want to make that mistake. You’ll love this place. The interior is warm but humble, reflective of the owner. He focuses on making sure that you are well taken care of. It’s true – he just wants you to enjoy yourself at his restaurant. It’s a genuine experience that feels like a bit of a welcomed step back in time. Try the open-faced deluxe gyro. The lamb is outstanding. It’s plump, juicy, and seared to perfection. The tzatziki is fresh and creamy and perfectly accentuates the lamb with dill coolness. I’ve tried most of the items on the menu but keep going back for the gyro.

Try the homemade hummus! This is a great local spot and the owner clearly works hard and has pride in his business. There’s something on the menu for most anyone(gyros/kabobs/platters etc). We went for dinner, so I didn’t try any coffee, but there is an extensive specialty coffee menu with Turkish coffee, espresso, and the like that looked very interesting. There are so many food options in this area of St. Louis, but I recommend this one highly.

Not going to lie. I walk by this shop three times a week going to school early in the morning and I see the owner setting up and then when I walk back home I’ll see him working late and I always admire how dedicated he is to his shop. This guy is a one man machine. I don’t know anyone as awesome as he is. He has the customer favorites down and knows exactly how to do make them quickly. My friends and I went here the other day for some lunch after class and the place was busy. We got there got a table near the front that was able to sit the three of us. There seems to be a lot of tables there and if you are a large group there are a bunch of square tables near the back that you can push together to eat. The nice thing about each of the tables is that there are cups and pitchers of cold water waiting for you upon arrival. We poured ourselves some water and started to look at the menu. Actually, barely had time. The owner came by almost right away and got our orders. We all got gyros. My two friends got the lamb and I got the chicken. There was a little wait and then the food was brought out. The gyro was so huge that you can’t eat it like a sandwich. You have to use a fork and knife to cut into it. That is how much meat, sauce(I can’t remember the name of it), and lettuce are on the pita bread. The gyro was delicious. I was so happy with the way mine tasted. That next time I’ll come I’ll get that again. My friends enjoyed their lamb gyros too. They both thought it was delicious just like mine and that the flavoring was just right.

This guy is awesome! It’s almost always run by simply the owner, he is originally from Jordan. His wife occasionally helps him out when he’s really busy. He’s the server, the cook, the cashier, the bartender, and he runs the entire place mostly by himself(while simply memorizing all orders, never writes anything down)! He’ll still give you faster service than any server you’ve ever had too! I’m not middle eastern food expert but I have eaten a lot of American food and this ranks on top of that scale. Gyros taste delicious and fresh. Hummus is top notch. Also he refuses to advertise, he says people will come if they like him, so please do.

THISFOODISAMAZING! We had Arabic coffee, an array of dips, falafel, a fantastic gyro, and delicious baklava for dessert. It seems like this place is a one man show, ask him for suggestions! He said he would just«put something together» for us and it was spectacular. We will be coming back. This is a must do in CWE. It was like a trip to the Middle East on a plate.

This place is like a throwback to visiting Eastern Europe. Walk in and you’ll instantly be transported to one of the many cafes there. Everything from the décor of the place to the smell of the food and coffee saturating the small restaurant make this place a gem in Central West End. Many reviewers have mentioned the owner and I believe he is a big part of the appeal of the restaurant. He is very friendly and you can tell he enjoys owning and preparing food for his guests. As other reviewers have mentioned, the owner both cooks and serves the food. It is a one man operation and this is also very typical of smaller cafes in Europe. As far as the food goes, I have only tried the deluxe gyro. I took the owner’s suggestion on my first visit and I have been getting the same thing ever since. The meat was very well flavored and the veggies were crispy and fresh. I would recommend you check this place out at least once. Don’t let the emptiness of the restaurant deter you.

Holy. Freakin. Yum. Never had such great hummus in my life! So fresh and flavorful, but not overwhelming. I got the falafel plate, rolled as a sandwich. Really delicious, a little messy(grab napkins). It is one guy. So, don’t go there if you’re in a hurry, but actually he is really fast. I don’t know how he does it all himself. But he is soooooo nice and his food is amazing!

We were at Barnes Jewish for the birth of our 3rd child, and I needed something besides cafeteria food. So I checked Unilocal and found Oasis. Solid, solid Mediterranean food. I tried two things, because it all looked so good. Falafel Plate and Deluxe Gyro plate. The gyro was top notch. I will definitely get it again. I also liked the falafel wrap, but the taste of the falafel was a little lost in the rest of the wrap goodies, but the falafel and hummus in the wrap were great. So next time, I’ll probably just get a side of falafel with hummus, and call it a day. Will definitely be back!

I really enjoyed my lunch visit today! The service was stellar and the food was delicious. I had the ever popular Deluxe Gyro. I loved the fresh vegetables — cucumber, lettuce, tomato, onion… and the lamb had a very nice flavor and char. Our meal came very quickly after we ordered. Everything was perfect. The service made the experience for me though — having the owner greet us; take our order; cook the food; check on us; and take our payment was awesome. I felt like his guest, not just a customer. His additional staff was also great– checking on us; helping the owner as needed; and chatting with us to make us feel welcome. I’ll be back to get my Mediterranean fix, and probably try some scrumptious coffee and dessert! There were several syrups and coffee bean blends that I’m excited to try. There were also some tempting dessert displays as you walk in. Must. Try.
