Sound was good, only other issues were that they needed at least 3 more fans to cool the place down. Also the staff was very rude and disrespectful to people after the show. They also did not let the band have a signing for fans after the show.

Make sure to ask for an itemized receipt at the end of the night. They like to add a drink or two more on your bills!

Unique and fun live music venue with a view of the Arch! Great sound and a great patio. Very good prices. Staff is friendly. So great St. Louis has this venue!

Nutshell: super intimate concert venue, plenty of tasty food, service was a bit lacking, but absolutely coming back! Love it! Rolled in on a Friday evening. When you walk in there is the bar, walk a bit further and there is the high top area, a bit further an open area with a smattering of tables and BAM the stage! Its my new favorite concert venue. They also have TVs set up all over that show the stage so you never miss anything. The bands were pretty awesome on this night. Best $ 10 I’ve spent in a good long while. Now I’m a food person, so this is the important bit. The menu is relatively small, but all looks good. I got the small order of BBQ nachos. I was not prepared for the sheer amount of food that came out! Pulled pork, beans, cheese, bbq sauce, tomatoes, jalapeños…piled high. Every chip had something on it. These are quality nachos and for $ 7, uhhh yes please! I knocked a star off for service. My waitress was nice enough, but I felt like she was trying to be done with me. I ordered a drink and she told me what to pay before seeing if I was going to order more. I finished my food and she just laid down the bill, again not seeing if I wanted anything else. I received no refills on my soda, which was a bit silly because you pay $ 3 for it. I’m going to chuck it up to a one time thing and hope its not the same the next go round.

Decent concert venue. Very long and narrow, so get there early to be up close. But tv screens throughout show the band while playing so that was nice. Great bar staff. Waitress staff was hit or miss: some very friendly, others clearly bothered having to work. Waited 20 min before deciding to go to the bar and not wait for service. Food was good and good portioned. Brisket sliders were tops. Nice stuffed jalapeños. Kinda small flatbread. But all good. Nice place. Great parking. I’d go back.

Used to love this place. Bouncers are awful. Venue is great and most of the employees are awesome. But they need to get rid of the entire crew bouncers last time I was there one of them said they hope me and my friends get in a drunk driving accident.

Cool venue to see live music. Don’t order a cocktail with any mixer not on «the gun». $ 2 extra. VO& ginger beer $ 8

The food and drinks were delicious, the atmosphere was great. I highly recommend their wings and nachos. We came to see a favorite band and the show sounded good. The venue is clean. It’s one of the nicest places in St Louis that I’ve seen a live show. A favorite now for sure. My only complaint was that after we closed our tab, the bartender gave us a receipt to sign but not our card back. We didn’t realize his error until we got home.

Old Rock House easily makes the list for top concert venues in the St. Louis area in my books. It’s a large space, the bar is easy to get to, and if your not into standing you might get lucky enough to find a seated spot up top or on the main floor. Although, seated balcony area might be an extra fee – I’m not sure. Next time I come to a show here, I plan on stopping by earlier than normal and grabbing some grub and booze near the stage and suggest you do the same. In my old age, a prime seat at a show is much appreciated. They have a pretty big patio outside but I wasn’t about to take advantage of that in 20 degree weather. It is nice they have plenty of lot parking, but one of the parking lots is gravel. You might want to be careful in case your car is low to the ground… it can be rough in some areas. Other than that, Old Rock House is good to go!

i really like this place as a musical venue. It’s big enough to hold a good-sized crowd, but the spaces are small enough that it feels intimate wherever you are. The first floor stage area fills up early/fast, but I like the upstairs balcony better anyway. Upstairs offers a variety of seating, not all of it with a stage view, but the sound is good. If you are way in the back, there is at least one monitor upstairs so you can see what’s happening. That’s not ideal for live music, on the other hand, you might be able to have a conversation during the show. You can order food and drink at the upstairs bar. Be advised the wait staff’s first responsibility is to those seated in the balcony area, so if you’re in the back by the bar, you’ll probably have to service yourself. Not a big deal. The brisket sliders were surprisingly good. I was drinking whiskey up, and the pour was very generous.

Just seen cowboy mouth here last night, great seats in the balcony, sound was great, service was great, wish we were able to make it to the second showing on Saturday night, we will definitely be going back ASAP!!! We did screw up and eat before we went, the food coming by us looked and smelled amazing!!! We wanna bring some friends with us next time. Hopefully next time we won’t be in such as rush to leave, we actually had the chance to meet the members of cowboy mouth, but needed to get back home early. If you have the opportunity to go there, do it, and do yourself a favor and don’t eat till you get there!!!

Great venue to see a show and has a balcony. three bars and multiple bathrooms make even the most packed show bearable. Their food is awesome, and their specialty drink list is unique. I prefer the draft beer myself, which is predominately from local St. Louis microbreweries. Great sound in the building, and speakers in the bathrooms. TV’s broadcasting the concert so even if you’re at the bar, you can see what’s going on onstage. Highly recommend this venue. The staff is friendly, and I hear they cater private events.

Typically pretty bad /inadequate sound, long waits at the bar, and the food is awful. The staff is generally pleasant and they do a lot of all ages shows and have a nice patio. They get some decent acts and when not sold out it can be a cool vibe. Traffic flow is bad. Most of the time there is a cooler near the entrance with self serve ice water, maybe the best thing about the place. Really limited parking and I once had my purse stolen off the back of my chair. It’s St Louis, most venues in town have a list of negatives this long.

Came here to see a the grateful dead cover band, it was full of hippies and hipsters. Doesn’t really have a good craft beer selection. There are bathrooms down stairs if there is a huge line up stairs.

First time here and I LOVED it! Such a cool, laid back but entertaining atmosphere. The acoustics were awesome for the concert I saw and I loved the tvs and speakers at the main bar. Plenty of seating available if you want to relax for the show or have dinner(I didn’t eat but the kitchen smelled amazing). Upstairs and balcony was great as well. I will certainly be back! And I’ll update with food reviews then.

I’ve seen a few shows here and I’ve always had a great time! I saw The Civil Wars here in I think 2011? It was one of the best shows ever. I stood the entire time wearing heels, but it didn’t even matter. I hope to see more shows here soon! There was a cover charge even though I’m pretty positive I had a ticket. I can’t remember. Either way, I love this venue and coming to shows here.

ORH is my favorite music venue in STL! They have a 2-story set-up with a balcony, like a small Tipitina’s(note for smaller shows that the upstairs may not be open). There is a good deal of seating for a music venue, yet also plenty of dance space AND a giant patio. What else do you need? Good sound? Check! You’ll want to be in the front room or upstairs if you’re an audiophile because the rear section of the main floor loses some direct sound. I like to stand by the sound booth where it’s not too crowded and I can catch friends as they walk by. They do run a live feed of the show to the bar TVs, which is nice. There are also 2 free parking lots there, one north and another, a dirt lot, east of the venue. A few years back, ORH had a problem with looong wait times at the bar(too few bartenders) but there has been a strong improvement in service including cocktail waitresses, which is always a plus for me at a music venue. Still not the best service in town, but you’ll get enough to drink. Combine all of this with the fact that many of my favorite bands are booked at the ORH and it’s a winner!

Not a great place to catch a band, and be careful, for certain shows they sell tickets that ONLY allow you into the bar… $ 40.00 was a bit too much to watch the stage from a bar three rooms away. Will have to seriously consider whether I return to this establishment.

Why haven’t I been here before? I’ve walked by the building dozens of times before and after Cardinal games but never had an opportunity to attend a concert there until this weekend. What a great venue! There is a very cozy feel with a bar and standing room only on the lower level. The balcony was also fantastic. You can only see the stage from the seats in the front of the balcony but there are flat screen TVs and a large projector screen that provides a live feed as well. Towards the back of the upper level there are a number of cozy leather sofas and another bar that is just right for conversation. I didn’t have the opportunity to dine there but they do have a menu with pizzas and sandwiches. They also have a lower level that can be reserved for private parties. Overall I really enjoyed the atmosphere and it allowed you to be as up close to the artist as you would like.

Among the many premeire rock venues in St. Louis, Old Rock House is pretty average. It’s great to have somewhere close to see quality shows. Most of the best acts end up playing in Midtown or the Loop, but occasionally something cool comes downtown to the Old Rock House. I love the room. The setup is one of my favorites in town. I prefer the narrow, long design over the wide, on top of everyone look of the Pageant. It brings to mind the glory days of Mississippi Nights. Also, the balcony is a nice touch, too. For me, it’s the best part of ORH. Everything else can be hit or miss. The sound is nothing special. The house only has four fifteens up front, adequate but not great. The staff is pretty average for a music venue. The door guy was fairly nice, but the bartender was impatient and unpleasant. The beer prices are inflated. We had four beers for nineteen before tip, which doesn’t seem bad at first glance. However, I was drinking Stag, a beer that should never be more than two dollars. Two Stags and two premium drafts make nineteen. I thought that I was drinking at the Pageant! I love the convenience and the room but not much else. Also, I’m not sure how much more money that I will spend at the bar.
