This place is fantastic! We tried it for the first time last night. We loved everything about it. The ambience, the food, the waitstaff were so nice and they had a great jazz band. Cocktails are great too. They have an amazing Absinthe selection! I hope this place sticks around. It’s awesome! :)

One word: OUTSTANDING. From the impeccable service, wonderful ambiance and INCREDIBLE food, this was the best dining experience I’ve had in St. Louis. I live in Brooklyn and am an admittedly huge snob about food, dining, and the like. Coming back to St. Louis for the holidays, I wanted to take my family somewhere nice as a gift, and settled on Nathalie’s after reading about it’s farm-to-table background. Let me get to it: Food: Incredible and inventive. We ordered the beat salad, seared diver’s scallops and cauliflower salads to start. All were good portions and absolutely delicious. A special shout out to the cauliflower salad. It was one of the most fantastic things I’ve eaten in this state. For mains, I ordered the wild mushroom risotto, which was to die for. The family ordered the Shrimp and Chicken Etouffe, The Rockbridge Rainbow Trout a la Meunière, and the Cottage Pie. Each was over the top amazing, so I guess the take away is order whatever sounds good, because it all is! Even if this place had bad service, it would be worth it for the food alone. On that note, Non-food: Everything was so perfect. The restaurant is beautiful, there was an amazing blues band playing in the back room(the hostess took care to ask us how close we wanted to sit, which was nice). The food was perfectly timed, appetizers came at the correct time, the entrees following just as we finished the appetizers, etc. The staff was so respectful and it made a difference. The chef even came out and spoke with us after our meal– such a wonderful touch.

What a weird experience. Menu looked great online. When we got there, noticed a guitarist was playing, which was nice. We were seated up front, away from the music, but it would’ve been nice if they had asked where we wanted to be since there was live music available. The hostess and buspeople were very nice and chatted us up. Our waiter, Kyle, must’ve been having an off day. He was nice, but just not quite on the ball. The bf ordered orange juice — it was watered down, obviously so. I wasn’t listening when he ordered, and by the color and taste, I guessed it was grapefruit. Yeah, it was yellow, not orange. When we pointed it out to the waiter, he didn’t seem surprised in the least, and then brought us actual orange juice, complete with pulp and no ice, the complete opposite of the last glass, which was yellow, had no pulp, and iced down. NOT a good start… We placed our order, and I ordered coffee also. I told him I’d need alot of cream and sugar. No kidding, he brought 2 packets. Awkward, so then I had to repeat myself, please bring more… I had to wave him down each time I wanted a refill. He did check on us after we received our order which was nice. The food was amazing! The stuffed french toast was sandwiched together with cream cheese, coated with a generous serving of pistachios, and sprinkled with carmel. Yum! My eggs had cream cheese, toast, and crispy potatoes with veggies and a side of fruit. The bf had a giant! delicious omelet w goat cheese and the same sides. I have absolutely nothing bad to say about the food — 5 stars all around. As the meal went on, noticed many sets of patrons coming from the back, all white, while my party and another black couple and a party of 2 older white women we eating up front. You might think, oh, they didn’t have space… But they did, the second room was full of empty tables, and brunch ended 1 hr after we arrived. From what I overheard, Kyle messed up the other black couple’s order too… But either the kitchen manager or chef came out to check on them and see if they wanted a substition, which was nice. The owner or manager Nathalie, I’m guessing, came by and greeted all the other parties(including the black couple), didn’t say a peep to me. Yeah, I really hate exclusionary practices, and going to a restaurant and getting worse treatment than other people, it’s just no good. This place just didn’t have a warm, welcoming vibe, just seemed cold. Must be the ghost of Salt past.

I was a little under-and-over-whelmed by this place, all at the same time. The food was good, the wait-staff was attentive, the drinks were tasty, but it just left something to be desired. I got the daily beef special, which was a steak salad and the other person in my party got the chicken cordon bleu. The steak was good, but not note-worthy, and the salad portion was rather unexciting. The chicken cordon bleu was tasty but sort of a in-cohesive medley of tastes all on one plate. However, the table next to us got something that looked like heaven on earth, if heaven was a piece of meat. I should have asked what it was, but alas, I did not. And the women’s bathroom upstairs is a delightfully over-the-top bougie sitting room. I gleefully gazed around and regret not taking a photo. The restaurant was pretty empty, but we ate on a week night, so that’s to be expected. We got a free salad with a Unilocal-check in, which is always a nice treat. Also, the desserts looked delicious. Overall, it was less expensive than I thought it would be, and I would try it again. Here’s hoping!

Part of the AWFUL Valentine’s day experience. Enough said. HOWEVER, they more than made up for this debacle by sending us vouchers for a stay at their bed and breakfast and another meal at Natalie’s. The Bed and Breakfast(Rackheath House) is absolutely beautiful. The house is first class in every aspect and the grounds are lovely. We ate at The Courtyard for dinner and breakfast. Food was excellent, fairly priced and liked the casual atmosphere. If you are looking for a romantic B&B this is it!!! Our return visit to Natalie’s was the complete opposite of our first visit. Lovely atmosphere, unusual and delicious food, very attentive staff and virtually no other customers. I intend to return and try the brunch. Natalie’s is a nice addition to CWE. I hope you will give it a try.

Do not go here. Please do not support such a rude owner. It took two hours for our food to arrive, and she blamed it on us. Timeline: 7:00 — we arrive on time for our reservation. On Open Table, I wrote that we needed to leave by 9:00. Restaurant is 2⁄3 empty, so that shouldn’t be a problem. 7:30 — orders are in, sipping cocktails, amuse bouche is tasty — we’re off to a good start! We order two burgers and two chicken dishes — simple, right? … … Crickets… … … 8:20 — I tell our waitress that we need to leave by 9:00… 40 minutes from now. 8:30 — chef comes out, tells us it will be 5 minutes. 9:00 — food finally arrives. Owner comes out, we politely inform her of the timing problem. She acts annoyed, blames us, blames the waitress, says she’ll investigate. 9:10 — we’ve scarfed down our food, but the owner hasn’t returned. We can see her walking around, but she doesn’t make eye contact. We ask to speak to her again, but she doesn’t come back. 9:15 — chef comes out and apologizes. No, there’s nothing he can do to make the situation better. We leave late for our show. We were so looking forward to a delicious farm-to-table dinner, and the food was good, but the owner’s handling of the situation ruined the experience.

Among THEMOST beautiful restaurants in STL and beyond. Inside and out. The service was prompt, attentive and friendly. Dinner was very good. Our table had the scallops and the beef skewers. The farm fresh vegetables and loaded mashed potatoes were exceptionally tasty. Great wine selection and the fresh blueberry pie was outstanding. After dinner we enjoyed live music by Adonis Blue in the bar. Definitely going back for Sunday brunch and hoping to sit on the beautiful patio!

I kinda hate to give this place only two stars because the food was actually quite good and the space is actually quite lovely… but I can’t say that our overall experience was more than 2 stars. We arrived early(around 5:30) on a Saturday night and decided to have a drink at the bar before our dinner reservation. You’d think with an empty bar that the bartender would be happy to see customers. In fact, however, the bartender made us feel like we were an inconvenience. He was not at all friendly or welcoming and seemed annoyed about answering our questions about the cocktails. Not a good start. Our waitress was nice, but seemed totally clueless. I would expect a place this fancy to have a very professional/knowledgeable wait staff. It seemed like this was her first wait job. There was another waitress there who seemed to know her stuff. Before dinner they brought us each a chocolate covered strawberry, which seemed very weird to me. I mean, know sometimes the chef will send out a little something or other(a little soup for example)…I forget what that’s called. But a chocolate covered strawberry was just weird. I saved it and ate it after my dinner and it was delicious. The scallop appetizer was also delicious, but was not at all what the menu described. One of the reasons we went to this restaurant is because they feature grass-fed beef. Both beef specials were tomato based and quite similar sounding. My husband has an allergy to tomatoes, however, so we were a bit dismayed. Luckily, the chef was able to defrost a steak for him and it was quite good. I had a steak salad, which was also good. The flourless chocolate tort was also very good… but again, not as described on the menu. By the time we finished up, it was around 7:30…and the huge place was still basically empty… there were only 4 tables including ours… and they seated us all in the same room. I don’t know if that was done purposefully to make it not feel so empty… but it was kind of weird because the room was fairly small… although the place is very big. In my reservation, I noted that this was our anniversary dinner. Any other time we’ve gone out for our anniversary, the restaurant has given us a little something… like a special dessert or glasses of champagne. I mean, I don’t necessarily ‘expect’ it… I had only mentioned it in the reservation so we would get a nice romantic table. But truthfully, I was a little disappointed that they didn’t make a little special effort… especially given how slow they were. Honestly, I don’t see how they are staying afloat. I’d like for them to do better because the food really is good… but a dining experience is more than just the food.

Our first visit to Nathalie’s was disastrous, to put it lightly. There was a problem with OpenTable double booking and one of the wait staff didn’t show up, which apparently threw everything off. I won’t go into detail about the events of the evening because Nathalie’s has more than made it up. They sent us a a coupon for a free dinner and one night stay at their farm and bed and breakfast in Clarksville, MO. Second time around was last weekend and I have to say, it was better than I expected. The manager approached to ask my boyfriend and I about our previous experience and was apologetic when we explained the fiasco. I appreciated him checking in. The food was good. The dishes weren’t spectacular but the ingredients always tasted fresh. Our favorite dish was the Thai red curry appetizer. It was pungent, spicy, and packed with authentic Thai flavor(this was refreshing and familiar since we have recently come back from Thailand). The grass-fed sirloin was cooked exactly how we asked and served with probably the best sweet potato mash we’ve ever had. The flourless chocolate torte was amazing and the cheesecake was perfect, less sugary and more cheesy. Some of the other dishes lacked seasoning but overall the dinner was good. Oh, and the butter they serve with the bread is so delicious. It was sweet and fresh, like they churn it themselves. The waitstaff was friendly but seemed a little inexperienced, not what you would expect from a typical fine dining establishment but I didn’t mind. That gave it a homey, mom and pop restaurant feel. The ambiance, along with the staff, was warm and welcoming. You pull up to complimentary valet and they greet you as you walk in the door. If you’re interested in farm to table, I recommend checking this place out.

Very unorganized and inattentive bartenders. They didn’t make eye contact and didn’t check in with us to see if we needed anything until end of dinner. Kept leaving bar area for supplies. Didn’t know the local beer brands they carried. Food was tasty but over priced. The band was terrific the venue was beautiful, great restaurant concept with having their own farm.

We returned for a winter dinner in December and it was a rather different experience. Server was brash, food ok. Oh how we missed the peak of season farm-fresh delectable!
Wow! What a great addition to the CWE. I have been to Nathalies on several occasions for both dinner and brunch. Let me start off by saying the place is beautiful, to think this place originally started out as a house and now has been transformed into something so elegant. The brunch: I absolutely adore their brunch. It is only on Sundays which makes me a little sad because I would eat brunch there any day of the week. But they do so much more than your typical eggs and bacon. Everything is so fresh! Last time I got brunch I ordered that days special it was poached duck eggs(?) On a bed on white asparagus, guanciale and hollandaise. So yummy! What’s wonderful is that they offer lots of gluten free options with dinner and brunch. The pancakes are gluten free and you would never know just by tasting them. Dinner: always so romantic my husband and I love spending our«us» time here. Throughout the week they have bands playing. Nothing spells romance better than jazz in the background. I love seafood so I got the trout which is raised by the restaurant. it was cooked perfectly with spaghetti squash and greens. My husband of course got the steak. Grass fed beef with mashed potatoes, assorted vegetables. We usually don’t spring for dessert on account of over filling ourselves but we did order a farm pie. Its an individual pie served with a scoop of vanilla ice cream. We split that one! Now I only gave 4 stars rather than 5 because there is always room for improvement. I do love the place but at times I have noticed flaws that show how new the restaurant is and I guess they are still trying to get the hang of things hopefully they fix that quick. But I keep an open mind. Honestly a must If you enjoy beautiful surroundings and fresh food!

This is the first review I have ever written on a restaurant. But, this was so bad, I had no choice but to protect others. I am someone who is normally happy anywhere — ihop, panera, etc. and I don’t care about spending money. So, it is hard to disappoint me. Nathalie’s did it on VALENTINE’S DAY. 5:30pm reservation — early. The valet — couldn’t figure out how to start the car in front of us(a regular Toyota) — delay #1. Menu — Arrived at 45 minutes after sitting — after we had to ask for it. It was so limited, I looked on the back and asked if that was it. Yep — that was all. We had to ask for drink and dessert menu — weren’t offered to us. Waitress — looked like she was covering 12 tables. Couldn’t recall our very simple order — from a menu with a total of 11 items; 9 if you remove soup and salad. Food — 1st course arrived 1 ½ hours into the night. The salad and soup. Lobster bisque was cold, watery, and had no lobster. Salad had strawberries so bad I removed them to eat the spinach in between. The main course was small and cold. Delivery of entrees — I wish I could make this up. They brought soup out and I would watch as they stopped by several tables to drop it off, with every table saying«I didn’t order that» and they would eventually get to the right place. Other tables — I was entertained watching 12 tables within view all sitting eating and drinking nothing. Every time a new couple walked in, I laughed on the inside knowing the disaster that awaited them. Bill — $ 150. READTHIS — They offered to give us our dinner for free b/c it was all so bad if we would just stay… they pleaded with us. But then changed their mind and billed me anyways. Coats — They lost our coats and brought out samples for us to see if it was ours. I have lived in rural Africa — and their service was better than this.

The only reason this review is two stars is because the amazingly kind bartender saw fit to double as our server and busser in the woeful absence of either. This was by far the worst dining experience ever. The wait for drinks was 45 minutes. The wait for the prix fixe dinner was about 1.5 hours. If it had not been for the bartender, we would probably still be waiting. I hope Nathalie’s gets their act together so no one else has to be subjected to such a catastrophe of a Valentine’s Day.

So, I won’t ever come here again and try to tell everyone to stay away like the black plague. I was really looking forward to taking my wife here for valentines day dinner. Well, this place defiantly ruined that; then left my car lights on in valet. Which I had to wait for the battery to recharge in the cold. If anything they excelled at ruining valentines day. There was a set menu mind you that wasn’t complex at all. I’m so disappointed I’m furious; in the fact the manager could care less. From watching other couples leave in frustration; my valentines day dinner was a bottle of overpriced Merlot. Thanks for nothing. I’m also pretty sure our server was high or on something. Eitheir way stay away. How they won a award blows my mind. Awful simply and thoroughly.

It used to be Salt, it used to be something else. I had my graduation dinner here. It is an elegant and artsy kind of place, with great locally sourced organic food. Everything was beautifully presented, and tasted amazing. If I were going back, I do hope I catch one of the shows. It is a great place for family dinner, graduation dinners, or a date night.

I might have known this but was off guard when I saw this was the old Salt building … which was always nice on the inside. On a date this night it was a great spot for one especially sitting at the bar which we both liked. We walked in right when some music was about to start so a nice touch with a couple of guitars playing some nice vibes. The bartender was definitely hopping as a few more people came in to the bar, some to eat and some to just drink but he was right on top of everything and did an excellent job of setting up our area and taking and bringing what service items we needed. We ordered the Rockbridge trout dish and the pan roasted chicken dish, both excellent. I also ordered the side kale caeser salad(fresh and excellent) and eventually the lemon tart(pretty good stuff). We also got a cup of cold asparagus? soup. It was pretty good too. Starting it all off was a glass of Spellbound red wine and the Good Thymes bourbon cocktail(and very excellent … would normally have had more but limiting myself this night). Not sure why I’m not giving it 5 stars but it probably deserves it … beautiful setting, high quality feel, very good food, a place I need to visit again for sure. Not too many places in town with as nice a décor.

This is a wonderful addition to CWE! My boyfriend and I ordered vegetable kofta, lamb and barley soup, kale salad(that is included in the main), Zarzuela de mariscos, and the moussaka al forno. We went in at around 4pm so we were the only ones dining there, which was nice. The waiter was super attentive. I ordered a glass of cab(clos de bois) which was fairly generously poured. The bread came pretty promptly and was freshly baked just for us. There was pumpernickel, min corn muffins, and one other rustic white bread. The breads were so good we ended up asking(or accept the offer) for a refill. The kofta came out first and it was lovely! i didn’t realize it would be kind of falafel-esque but i love falafels so that was no problem. The lentil cakes were fried and seasoned perfectly and the lentil curry was also very savory. Everything came together well, and we cleaned the plate(to which the waiter said he’ll tell the chef how much we liked the dish). Then the soup and salad came. The soup was okay, not that surprising– tasted like lamb and barley. The kale salad was great. I loved being able to taste the fresh kale and not have the salad be overpowered by the creamy anchovy dressing. The crostinis seemed to be baked though and not fried, so the crunch wasn’t as satisfying. As for our entres, the zarzuela was cooked to perfection. The scallops had a nice char to them without being overcooked. Unfortunately, at this point I was too full to finish. The Moussaka(bf’s dish) was also great. The lamb may have been slightly overseasoned but it wasnt unpleasant. Nathalie’s seems to focus on highlighting the flavors of their quality ingredients. I really wanted to try their desserts but really didn’t have any room, so decided to get one to-go. We opted for the Childs’ Delight(as it serves 3 kinds). The caramel, whipped cream, and chocolate fudge were all packaged in a separate small container, so that was nice but kinda hard for me to know which sauce went with which pastry. But they were still sweet and tasty. I would definitely like to come back here and try the pâté and the other chef’s specials.

Nathalie’s is a true farm to table restaurant. It is owned by Overlook Farms, so it definitely is connected to a «green» farm. Not only is it green and farm to table, but it also gives you the white linens dining experience at a very affordable price. We were impressed from our starter, to the entrees and the finale of a fabulous dessert. I was anxious to experience Nathalie’s, so I made sure we were one of the first to be seated on their opening night to the public. My jaw dropped when I saw how they transformed the interior. The soft green walls with gold leafing trim gave a warm sophisticated feel to the dining rooms on the main level. They also, redid the fireplaces, so being seated next to a working fireplace on a cold winter night added the beautiful ambiance. We begun our feast with Crispy Sesame Quin Crab Cake(2) and Pâté Maison. The crab cakes were served with a small side avocado, grapefruit salad with a citrus vinaigrette. The cakes were thick and impressive in flavor. Our second starter was their Pâté Maison. To accompany the pâté on the Cristin, the plate had red onion jam, grain mustard and dried cherries. Both of these starters went well with my Prosaic. Our entrees were an amazing set of chops. I enjoyed the Pretzel Crusted Pork Chop and Brad experienced their Pomegranate Lamb Chops. Both were outstanding, but he by far had the best chops. They prepared those lamb chops to a perfect temperature of medium rare. Lucky for me, I was able to snatch one of the chops off his plate. The Pomegranate demo glaze was a unique twist on one of my favorite meats. My Pork chop was huge and a thick cut. Even with the current pretzel craze, I would have never thought of crusting a pork chop. It was served with Braised Red Cabbage and German Potato Salad. The lamb chops were served with Goat beard Farm Moussaka, that a vegetarian would love as an entrée. We finished our night off sharing only one dessert. No we weren’t being cheap, we were just that full. We choose the Iberia Cake, which is a flour less chocolate, cinnamon, almond, orange with a panache glaze. If I were not already a fan of flour less cake, this one would have converted me. The staff was super attentive to all details. Napkins were placed on our laps and refolded each time we left the table. When replacing silverware, an entire tray of silverware presented in pockets made from napkins was carried to the table. We also had the privilege of meeting the owner Nathalie and the Executive Chef Jimmy. I think Nathalie’s is going to be one of the new hot spots to be seen dining in the future.
