Such a great place to grab a bite. Friendly and fast with great things on the menu. Try the fried chicken taco! And don’t skip the margaritas — they taste homemade… none of that syrupy-sweet artificial flavor.

This place is awful! They pre make all of the items in the morning and then just warm it up when you place your order. There was mold in the lemonade dispenser. We will NEVER eat here again! When my daughter asked for her«burrito» to be remade as it was cold and wrapped in a red tortilla shell(she is allergic to anything with red dye) the staff acted like they were extremely put out. The nachos were just chips on a plate with some shredded cheese melted over them. Taco Bell is better than this!

Went there for a second time. First time was for lunch. Heard about this place, so had high expectations. Didn’t care for the food the first time around. Seemed overrated. But I liked the music and the strings of lights had potential at night. Gave it another try for dinner. Was looking forward to the lights, and thought the place deserved another try. Well, the lights were out — again. Even when we asked about them, and were told they would we turned on, they weren’t. I had the chicken fajita salad. It was $ 8.75, and there really was not much to it. A bit romaine lettuce, a little bit of chicken, soggy chips, sweet croutons, which I don’t like, some cheese. Not really a «salad» to me, or even«fajita» salad. Way overpriced. If it wasn’t for the chips and guac, I would have been hungry. That said, the chips and guac were good. They charge for the chips. All in all, it is overpriced for what you get. Don’t think I will try again. Since I moved to STL only recently, I’m wondering if perhaps there is a shortage in Mexican restaurants here. So this is considered good? That said, El Indio down the road is much better. The place does not look too appealing(inside or out), but the service is friendly, and the food is good.

Amazing Guac and The Best Steak Fajitas around! This is a quick service restaurant. Nacho Momma’s seasonings/ingredients are far superior to the bling lights place down the street who serve Twinkie Puffy Tacos Bell-esque flavorless garb. (Yes the building is old/shabby chic as are many other great restaurants in our area!) I read the few bad reviews of Nacho Mommas and Know immediately who«gets it» and who doesn’t. Obviously those are the people who don’t know what a good char is, what marinated meats tastes like or why they taste so much better. (there are other«authentic» places in our area where you’re not sure of the gray meats origin nor that light green cheese Yuck!) It’s True, Some rate food according to atmosphere alone, i.e. is the building pretty… Others, like myself rate… The Food itself!(Which is why some food trucks serve amazing food!) Nacho Mommas is great food period, if you want flavorless«bling» go elsewhere! I know I and many others will keep coming back for more!

First off, this place should have 4 stars across the board. It is what it is described as, damn good drive-thru Tex Mex. Arguably, the best fish tacos in the city. If your looking for lackluster 3 cheese enchiladas then go across the street.

The is as good as it gets! My only regret is that I no longer live 5 minutes away and have to make an effort to drive there. The BESt chips and salsa in St. Louis — the nachos are pretty darn good, too. I’m a creature of habit and always get the tamales, which are AMAZING(and hard to find in St. Louis). My kids love the roast chicken, and the enchiladas are good, too. It’s so hard to choose, so I better just eat there more often! There are lot of great, new casual Mexican joints in town, But Nachomamas is THE original and still sets the standard for casual, quick, quality Mexican food in town.

As far as I am concerned NachoMama’s is the best Mexican food in St. Louis. I always order the pork tamales and add extra raw onion to my plate from the salsa bar. I was there in the middle of the day(maybe 2pm) on Saturday and it was almost completely filled. If you’re looking to sit all night and dine and be waited on and consume loads of free chips then this isn’t the Mexican restaurant for you but if you are all about the food like I am then stop reading this and go now.

OVERRATED Fly blown, dirty, all the food is masked with chilli powder. So you cant really taste anything. Server messed up my order and argued it instead of fixing it. Wont be back

Nacho Mama’s is a go to Tex-Mex restaurant in the heart of Brentwood. Great enchiladas and guacamole; but it’s one of those places where just about everything is good. The atmosphere is very casual — to the point that I ended up brewing the iced tea for the dining room on my last visit. The décor is eclectic with a mix of de rigueur Mexican«artifacts» mixed in with some good old fashioned junk. Peak hours will find a line out the door but if you don’t want to wait and don’t care about flavor you can always run to La Hacienda down the street.

HORRIBLECUSTOMERSERVICE!!! We just got lunch to go through the drive thru. When we got home, three of our five orders were completely wrong! My husband called back to let the management know. He spoke to two people and we were not offered compensation or anything. They wanted us to drive back the food, which we told them would take us 20 – 30 minutes to get back. Finally they told my husband that HE shouldn’t be picky!!! They tried to make it sounds like it was OUR fault that they messed up our order. This has happened almost every time we use the drive thru. The cars lined up to go through the drive-thru of this place almost made it impossible to pull into a parking spot! Me thinks their food must be incredible to draw that kind of business. Alas, much to our disappointment, we were very underwhelmed. The setup is like other fast food places — place your order at the counter, then find a place to sit until they call you to pick up your order. Menu is fairly extensive, but priced considerably higher than we expected for a ‘dive’ eatery. And… not only do customers pick up their food, they bus their own tables, too! As for the food — chicken soft taco was unlike any other. Was that pureed chicken? Or were there beans in there? Undistinguishable, which is scary. Crispy beef and chicken taco platter — $ 8??? Non-descript. Fajita burrito — college student liked it(’nuff said). Side order of chips served in a flower pot — why? The best item we had was the guacamole. Save your pesos and go elsewhere for your Tex-Mex or authentic Mexican food fix.

Love getting carry out or drive through from this place. I live and work very close so it’s easy to grab lunch or dinner on the go. The rice and beans are so delish especially with some hot salsa to spice it up! I typically get the cheese enchilada platter and get hot salsa to kick up the heat. My boyfriend loves the chicken burrito. The margaritas are tasty and the service is quick! The staff has been nothing but friendly and pleasant every time I’ve been there. I don’t typically like eating there because the interior isn’t anything to write home about and it can get smokey in the dining area since the kitchen is open. I hate leaving a restaurant smelling like I cooked the meal myself. The #1 downside to this place. Nothing fancy but a good, cheap, quick tex-mex spot.

I honestly wish I could give this place zero stars. Each time I’ve been there, I’ve been completely underwhelmed by their food and more than a little shocked at how over-priced it is. However, the customer service(or lack there of) is really what turns me off this place completely. The last time I was there, I ordered a chicken quesadilla during lunch hour. Pretty simple, right? After my lunch mate got her burrito bowl fairly quickly, I waited 15 minutes(fast food, eh?) before going up to the counter to inquire about my order. I was cut off before I could finish my entire sentence and rudely informed that«quesadillas take longer». Seems to me that an established fast food Mexican restaurant should know how to make a quesadilla in less than 20 minutes. And if not, good customer service and manners go a long way. Recommendation: Skip it. Way overpriced. Rude employees. There are so many more quality mexican restaurants in STL that blow nachomama’s out of the water.

Ok, so what happened was… it was my last day back in town visiting my family over a long weekend. It was cold outside, rainy(had been all weekend) and we were in need of a lunch spot before I had to pack myself back up and head to the airport. I’ve grown up driving past(and making fun of), the tiny restaurant space that is Nachomamas Tex-Mex, my entire life. The only bright spot as far as I was aware, was that you could get big margaritas at the driver thru window. From the outside Nachomama’s is nothing to look at. It’s located on un-scenic Manchester Rd. just a stone’s throw from Rock Hill with a little outdoor patio(that can be closed in in the winter), a drive through and a small-ish seating area inside. It is worth noting the music selection is nothing short of eclectic, ranging from golden oldies from the 20’s and 30’s to stuff from the 90’s and everything in between. Well, lately, my parents have gotten a bit more experimental in trying places around town they’ve never given a second thought to before. Nachomama’s happened to be on the list one day, and after that first fajita platter they were hooked. Plus, I think they enjoy trying to guess which song’s playing next. I wanted to see if the hubbub was really worth it, so I suggested we go there. We arrived on a rainy Monday after any lunch rush(though it seems like this place never has a rush), and the very friendly girl at the counter greeted my parents and almost had their order memorized(!). After looking at the menu which consists mainly of tacos, fajitas, and burritos, I threw caution to the wind and ordered a newer menu item(so new it was written on a little sign on the counter instead of the blackboard behind), the pork bowl burrito. A burrito bowl promising rice, shredded pork, pineapple, black beans, peppers and onions and a fried egg on top. After ordering at the counter, we took a seat and in no time my parent’s fajita platter was ready. The pork bowl was not, but I figured it was almost done. We waited some more, nothing. Waited again, nothing. Finally, I went and asked the girl who took our order(now mopping floors) if it was coming, she looked shocked, ran to the back of the kitchen, apologized and a few minutes later, my burrito bowl was ready. Apparently they’d forgotten that part of the order? Anyway, the bowl was fine — I liked the fried egg and the pork, pineapple, beans and all tasted fine. Nothing special really. The staff are friendly at Nachomama’s but I don’t know if I’ll be suggesting another trip there anytime soon.

I was born in Southeast Texas, and I lived there for about thirty years. The local diet consisted primarily of barbecue, Tex-Mex, seafood, and Cajun cuisine. Tex-Mex was, by far, my favorite. I was hesitant to try anything in Missouri that claimed to be «Tex-Mex,» but I had a craving for some fajita-style nachos. I decided to give this place a shot, and since then, I’ve been back to Nachomama’s several times. Let’s start with the good. My first Nachomama’s meal was chicken nachos grande. I ordered them to-go and was given the option to have them«original» or «nuevo» style. The employee explained original meant they would go ahead and make the nachos for me. Nuevo-style meant they would package some/all of the toppings separately to prevent the chips from becoming soggy. I love soggy nachos, so I nixed the nuevo. As I drove home, the aroma in my car was heavenly. I could not wait to eat. I was practically giddy. When I opened the hinged foam container, I saw a bed of chips beautifully topped with beans, cheese, chicken, guacamole, pico de gallo, and sour cream. That’s just how I like nachos!(I love guacamole, pico, and sour cream with my nachos, and I hate when I have to order one or more of those things separately.) The nachos were not the best I’ve ever had, but they were great. The chicken was just a little more blackened than I would like. After having nachos a few times and always getting my order to-go, I decided to try dining in and ordering something different. My husband I ordered two tamale platters, a single cheese enchilada, guacamole, and chips and salsa. Unfortunately, the food was disappointing. The beans and rice on the tamale platters were okay, but the rice was sticky. My husband’s serving consisted primarily of one glob of rice, slightly spherical in shape. The tamales were mushy. I have eaten a lot of tamales in my lifetime. They all have been slightly different, but I’ve never had a mushy tamale like this. The masa, typically my favorite part, was soft and somewhat gritty. I can’t even tell you what was inside the tamale. It appeared to be some sort of meat mush mixed with rice. I sincerely hope this was an off-day for them and that someone just cooked the tamales way too long. The cheese enchilada wasn’t bad. It was covered in sauce and cheese and served with a dollop of sour cream. It just wasn’t particularly flavorful. I’m not a fan of the salsa here. I absolutely love salsa(hot or mild), but Nachomama’s is of the roasted variety. I’m sure some people like their salsa, but roasted salsas are never my thing. I prefer a simple salsa made with tomato, garlic, lime, jalapeño, and salt. Maybe also a little cilantro if I’m feeling fancy. My issue with Nachomama’s salsa is just a matter of personal preference. The guacamole was fine. I, of course, had tried it previously when I had ordered nachos. My particular serving had a giant chunk of avocado and didn’t have a lot of filler(e.g., diced tomatoes, onions). So, I got a lot of bang for my buck with that one. Speaking of money, I find this place to be a bit expensive. You order at the counter, pick up your own food at the counter, get your own drinks, and bus your own table. I will admit that I ordered a lot of food, but the total for the two of us was around $ 30. That might not sound like a lot, but we had water(i.e., no soda or tea). The $ 30 was for food only and included a purchase of chips and salsa. I’ve never been to any Mexican or Tex-Mex restaurant where you have to pay for chips and salsa. Based on other reviews, I’m not the only one who is displeased about paying for something that typically is complimentary. As far as service goes, I’ve never had an issue here. Other reviewers mentioned apathetic or rude employees, but everyone I’ve encountered has been friendly and helpful. An added bonus is that they have a drive-thru. It’s not exactly fast food, so it’s not an incredibly fast drive-thru. However, it’s super convenient. I get a kick out of driving through in my pajamas, taking my huge order of nachos home, and plopping down in front of the TV as if I have completely given up on my body and life in general. It’s great. :) Based on the nachos and service, I’d give this place four or maybe even five stars. I’m bumping it down to three because the other food I’ve had here wasn’t good or even flavorful. Also it’s kind of expensive for a place that uses disposable plates, cups, and silverware and that does not have waiter service.

A dive Tex Mex. You bus your own tables and as a bonus you get to wipe it down before and after you eat. I ordered a sour cream chicken enchiladas and a taco because I wanted one. The enchiladas are not on their menu but are on the chalkboard as a permanent special. I received two enchiladas, rice and beans. While all I ordered was good it did not seem to me to be the best ever or very good. Average solid food would not hesitate to go back but not a place I would become a regular. Main reason is price and bussing my own table.
