Fun place to go. Great salsa and the food is really good for a very decent price. Fun place to see bands play as well. Very inviting.

Great salsa bar, great drinks bar, fun staff and really good food. This place always seems to make me proud to live in South St. Louis.

Came here with a group of friends as we were recently visiting St. Louis. At first, it seemed like a typical neighborhood bar. And then the bartender/server welcomed us. got us our margaritas(yummy and affordable!). Our group took a table. and the menu was quite affordable and impressive too. The bartender took our orders, helped the vegetarians in our group make selections… then pointed us to the salsa bar! The strawberry & blueberry salsas were AWESOME! The food was fantastic and the service exceptional. and the bill at the end of the evening pleasant to receive! We’ll definitely be coming back here again to get our cheap margarita & taco fix!

Cool little place with good food and a great salsa bar. Their house salsa is terrific. They also have a great variety of obscure salsas like strawberry mango. Although it’s good and cheap there was nothing super memorable about the food. I’ll be sure to visit again though.

The food here is cheap, and alacarte. The portions are not huge but for a little money you get a fair amount to eat. The beers are cheap, they had like dollar PBR’s the night I went. This place is very punk rock. They have dome hockey as well, which sweetens the whole place. They also sponsor the Saint Louis roller derby team. This place overall is good for a cheap mexican dinner and some cheap beers.

When you walk into Mamacitas, you will feel like you are walking into a South City bar. And quite frankly, that is what it is. It is loud and smoky, with a big bar in the first room, DJ spinning on the weekends, etc. Their drink menu is basic, right up to the margaritas. No special flavors here. The American food on the menu is pretty bland and I would venture to guess that most of it is frozen. Do not get the Singapore chicken wings(fried wings with a very bad rendition of teriyaki sauce poured over the top), not good. Is there an upside? HELLYEAH! Did I mention that almost everything on the menu is under $ 5? Did I mention that they have great Mexican food? The menu selection is limited, but the Mexican food that they do have is yummy, and as Liz said they have chips and an amazing homemade salsa bar. I have been to many salsa bars and this has to be my favorite in St. Louis… hands down. Mango, tomatillo, avocado, and house are my favorites. But, they have eight others to choose from and they are oh so fresh and yummy. The habanero will clear your sinuses for a week. The quesadilla and steak soft tacos are great and even better topped with the yummy salsas, and the sopapillas are made to perfection. They have other Mexican options that I have not tried yet. I’m giving Mamacitas 4 stars for the salsa bar. But, I would venture to say that anything would taste good with that stuff on it. And it’s SOCHEAP, you really can’t complain. If you are hungry for Mexican food and okay with a neighborhood/dive bar atmosphere, give Mamacitas a try. It’s located on Gravois, just north of Holly Hills.

I agree with both of the other review, but… none of them mentioned what I thinks is the best part about Mamacita’s: their salsa bar. They’ve got at least a dozen fresh salsa options. Some are spicy, some are sweet(great mango salsa), some are traditional, and some are not(avacado salsa). Each table gets two free baskets of chips with unlimited access to the salsa bar. Additional baskets are a mere dollar.

Mamacita’s is a fun place to go for wonderful Mexican food. Their tacos are amazing and very different from most places. The meat is chunky instead of ground and there are herbs in it giving a light, healthy taste that I adore. I don’t know what the other dishes taste like, because the tacos are so good that I always get them. The alcohol is dirt cheap here, and yet the mixed drinks are fabulous — not too strong and the taste is just right. They haven’t been in business for long, so come on out and support them. You’ll be glad that you did!

Mamacita’s rulez. The menu is pretty basic, but the tacos are awesome, the beer is cheap(usually 1 or 2 bucks for a draft depending on the day and time), and the service is great. A real neighborhood sort of place where my beer is brought to my table before I even order it(although this may be evidence of a drinking problem more than any thing else). They have an American menu too, but I haven’t ever ordered from it. If you are the sort of of person who prefers tacos of the Jack-in the-Box variety, or you are Lou Dobbs, maybe you would go to Mamacita’s for a burger or a steak. I think I will probably stick to the Mexican. Also, churros and sopapillas are tasty. Plus, they didn’t charge me or my girlfriend for our beers last time in because she had recently had a birthday. It wasn’t even the day of her birthday! That will keep me coming back(I would have anyway).
