Delivery guy was really nice, we’re from out of town. If the food had more seasoning and spice it would have been amazing. But it didn’t. I even added salt and I NEVER add salt to anything. I kept hoping I’d find my spice somewhere but it was MIA. For what we paid for delivery(we’re staying at the hospital and can’t leave), tip, and«processing fee» I expected much much more.

Good chips, salsa and tacos. The burritos are huge and so are the margaritas. One of my friends said it was the best margarita he’s ever had.

Food is decent. Not amazing though. Got tacos that were super soggy and dripping like crazy when trying to eat them. Decent prices. Margarita mondays are great!

Boyfriend and I ventured here on a Friday night for an evening of Mexican food and improv. Service was very slow because there were only two servers. We had some flavorful but cold chicken wings. We also shared la parrillada fijitas and it was the worst! The platter was not sizzling, the onions were not caramelized, everything tasted bland and the texture of the beef was disgusting. We asked for flour tortillas and got corn instead. We asked for sour cream on the side; server got that wrong but quickly brought us a new plate of toppings and forgot the sour cream completely. The cilantro rice was cold and maybe that’s the way it was supposed to be, but I didn’t like it. To top it off, boyfriend went to the bathroom to wash up only to discover that the sink wasn’t working. So they left a bucket of water and a cup on top of the sink for you to wash your hands. The house margarita wasn’t bad

I live in Texas so I’m picky about Mexican food. The good news is that this place has great drink specials — we had canned beer for about. $ 1.50 each and it wasn’t Coors! — and the server was attentive. The place was pretty empty on a Sunday night so we were able to watch the NBA finals in peace. The less than good news was the food was not as awesome as I’m used to in Texas. That’s my fault for expecting the same. We had mixed fajitas with shrimp, chicken, steak, and chorizo and it tasted… different. I think chorizo is better for breakfast, not fajitas, but that’s me. Plus, at the end, the cc machine apparently was down so the server wanted to write my cc number down to charge later, which I refused. My boyfriend thankfully had cash so we were saved, but goodness.

There are lots of really good Mexican restaurants in the St. Louis area, but I do have to say this has become one of my favorites. Their menu is familiar, but still unique and creative, all while being surrounded by a nice clean establishment. Parking is usually pretty easy to find and the outdoor patio area is nice and quiet for the most part. My favorite dish here are the Chimi’s and their signature queso dip. However, there’s a lot more exciting dishes on the menu for you food adventurists.

Good food, great service, and amazing margaritas. I honestly wasn’t expecting much when we walked in about an hour before closing on a Monday night, but the servers were friendly and helpful, and the margaritas and queso were great. Everything was reasonably priced. Definitely worth checking out for a happy hour or evening with friends!

I wasn’t impressed. We had 2 dirty cups with food dried to the inside. I had the taco salad with chicken and there was only about a ½ of chicken breast on it. It came with about a tablespoon of pico de gallo on the side. I asked for some more and she brought out about a ½ cup more. When I got the bill she charged me $ 3.95 for that! I got a bad vibe when we sat in the patio and a young man was sitting there and wasn’t ordering but kept blowing snot out of his nose and hacking on the ground. Why wouldn’t the waitress tell him to order or leave??? Or how about stop spitting snot on the floor? I could only take 15 minutes of this then we took our stuff to an inside table. I got the feeling this location might not be in the best area. A lot of people loitering…

I thought it was just ok. We were the only people in the resturant and it was very quiet. I had a pollo chimichanga and my husband had some sort of royal burrito he loved his but mine was kinda lack luster. The salsa lacked flavor but I do enjoy a little more spice than most people. Unfortunately my meal fell flat as far as flavor but my husband loved his. The service was not spectacular and I don’t feel like our server tried to connect with us our even welcomed us to this establishment. I will probably search out other options for food before returning to this resturant.

I really don’t get all of these rave reviews? Maybe it was because I ordered the wrong thing, or maybe it is because it sat for too long before it was delivered to me, I really don’t know, but that was the single worst Mexican meal I have had in a long time. I ordered the fish tacos and to get it to the $ 15 delivery minimum added a side of chips and queso dip. The food took about an hour to get to my office which I didn’t mind because I am working on deadlines I was super excited when the food got here because fish tacos are one of my favorite all time dishes. I generally even like them if they are low quality. These tacos however? They were so bad that I only made it two bites in and finally gave up because they were so unappetizing. First, they had guacamole on them which is fine, but they layered the guac on the tortilla before putting the fish on which made the tortillas incredibly soggy which is a really gross texture. Secondly, the fish itself was so crunchy and over cooked that I couldn’t bite, or even tear a bite of fish off. Thankfully I had that side of chips and queso because the tacos and tasteless rice that came with them promptly got thrown in the trash. I hate wasting food, but those tacos had to go.

Finally a great Mexican place on Wash Ave! So much better than Rosalitas. Highly recommend the fajitas and tostadas. SUPER friendly staff. Great place for the family as well.

Great chips here! The salsa was a little runny for my liking, but the taste was there. We drove by here several times so it was on our list to try. It is FAR better than Rosalitas closer to downtown. This is real deal Mexican, and the food was very good. I had the chicken enchi and beef chimi combo. The main dishes of the meal were very well done, meats very tender, and everything just kind of reminded you of that hole in the wall, good cooking Mexican diner. The interior is really nice and comfortable as well. The cilantro rice is definitely a favorite, and the beans were, well, beans. We’ll definitely be back to try the Chile Relleno and Tamales. Both high up on my list of faves with Mexican cooking.

Ventured here on a Sunday evening and happily discovered that this place was the best Mexican food I’ve had in STL. I have pretty high standards for Mexican as I’m from Texas, but this place seemed to hit the spot and satisfy my tex-mex craving! I had the combination plate of a burrito and enchilada. I really enjoyed their cilantro rice(had a nice flavor). My only complaint was that there wasn’t enough sauce on my enchilada & burrito. Other than that, everything was great. They have a variety of margaritas on their menu to choose from as well, I stuck with a classic margarita but did catch a glimpse of an interesting«black magic» margarita that literally looked black. Maybe I’ll be adventurous next time and try it!

I came here not knowing it was associated with the maplewood location but when I found out I kept an open mind. I got the tostada and enchilada lunch special with beans and rice. The beans tasted like some sort of meat? And the rice tasted like cucumbers? The tostada was okay, nothing special. I won’t be back.

Update: upgraded to 5 stars. They’ve worked out the kinks that come with opening a new place. Update: downgrade to 2 stars… what happened LP? You started off great and I wished you greatness! Since then it’s been nothing but bad luck… either poor service or just way below average food. I’m gonna miss y’all, can’t come back and CANT recommend you to my friends nds or Unilocal! Adiós Awesome Margarita menu! Great to see small local business do well! Bueno Salud!

The wife and I tried this Sat evening before the Cards game. Service was outstanding! Very attentive even after taking our order. As usual, I requested hot salsa prior to tasting what they brought with the chips. They brought out some salsa Verde that was very flavorful, and the right heat. Food was great, and portions bigger than either of us could finish. We finally have a Mexican resturant within walking distance of downtown. We’ll be back and do our part to help keep them there.

So happy to have Las Palmas in our neighborhood, real mexican food, not Rosalitas texmex crap. Myself and many people are familiar with the maplewood or woodson terrace locations, same menu here! The happy hour specials are great, but I’m in love with the fajitas. All the meats are delicious and tender, an obvious sign of a good marinade. The owners are really a sweet couple, young cute daughter included. The staff is super friendly and very happy to be offering the downtown community with good service and food. Give it a try, eat in or carry out. But the food is best hot from the kitchen while in the restaurant and especially with a margarita in hand. Love you Las Palmas and hope we have a long and happy relationship at your downtown location, again thanks for taking a chance on downtown St. Louis!
