Imo’s is a St Louis staple and it’s certainly a polarizing eatery. I’m not in the ‘like it’ camp or the ‘hate it’ camp — I’m in the ‘obsessed’ camp. But them I’m also a realist and realize the locations are pretty dive-y and my love for Imo’s is likely driven by the fact that there’s nothing like it in Colorado. All you need is the largest pizza they’ll make for you and add extra cheese. Maybe onions too, but that’s it. No more. When the pizza arrives you’ll open the box and likely be a bit puzzled. «Is this it?» you’ll say as you scratch your head«This looks weird.» Their pizzas have cracker-thin crust and they cut it into squares. Like someone mentioned before — it’s almost got the texture of nachos but the flavor of heavenly pizza. The real magic though, is in that provel cheese. Think provolone meets mozzarella meets cream cheese. It’s insane how creamy and delicious that provel cheese is, so do yourself a favor — give them a call, grab the largest pie imaginable, add extra provel, consider onions if you think it’s necessary, and thank me later.

I grew up on Imo’s Pizza and have introduced it to many people. I have lived out of state for 25 years and when I come back to St. Louis once or twice a year, I always take back ¾ ½ bakes. This trip was no different, I ordered 3−½ bake deluxe pizza’s on line to be delivered to the hotel I was staying at, they were delivered, the«cheese» leaked out all over my rental car seat, by the time I popped them in the oven to finish cooking they were a soggy mess. Manager Jeff tried to deny I even purchased the pizza’s from them even though I have my receipt, ticket #2 of the day. Jeff’s resolution… NOTHING!

I ordered delivery to my work and it was great. The delivery guy was friendly and showed up on time. I got a lunch special. The pizza was delicious and perfectly made. The cheese bread was a larger helping than I was expecting so that was awesome. They followed all my online instructions. I will definitely order again.

So as you now know from my previous reviews I pizza. I mean who am I kidding I love food. Ok back to the review… I really enjoy St. Louis style pizza it’s usually a great alternative to regular pizza when you order it 4 nights a week… lol I can’t cook so I eat out almost every meal. This evening I ordered food from Imos tonight. The pizza was nasty like I mean the crust was so soggy it was like raw pizza dough. The cheese and toppings were fine but I can not eat raw dough. I also got proved bites with my pizza which are always delicious I mean you can’t really ruin fried cheese, I guess if I cooked it I would ruin it but I digress. I also got T-ravs which is another St. Louis staple which were fine and by fine I mean edible not delicious or anything I would suggest. Morale of the review is eat here if you want mediocre St. Louis style pizza.

I ordered delivery on their website on a Saturday afternoon. The delivery guy came in about 20 min and the pizza was yummy.

Look, it’s an institution in St. Louis. You know it’s not going to be the greatest but you have to at least try a small pizza, and think of it like a nachos instead of a pizza. What can you say about Imo’s? It’s got average quality ingredients, and the promel cheese… the cheese is okay for the first few slices but it starts to taste very processed very quickly. And it sticks to your teeth which is unpleasant. It’s more like a cheap queso cheese than anything. It’s not bad but the crust could be crunchier. I want cracker crust if it’s St. Louis style pizza, and Imo’s just delivers a thin, semi-soft doughy crust. At the end of the day, you have to give it shot because it’s Imo’s, but in truth you’d be better off ordering a thin crust from Papa John’s.

We ate Imo’s Pizza last night. It was good. Nothing exciting, but at least I can say I’ve had it now. I do like the thin crust of the pizza. And they even put bacon on their combination pizza! They have some sort of a cheesy creamy sauce which was a little bit weird. But it did make it stand out from most other pizzas. I would definitely say try it if you’re in St. Louis.

This is the go to Imos in the downtown area hands down. I have ordered from another location and it normally takes over ten minutes longer. The pizza is always fresh and what I expect to get. They have a large area to dine in too.

I’d give this place a 2.5 stars. Not that great. They have St. Louis style pizza that’s really thin. I’m from California, so this was new to me and I tried it. Ended up tasting okay, but since the crust was so thin, I was essentially eating cheese and toppings. I did delivery at another IMOS and it costed a lot per pizza as well.

I should have reviewed this Imo’s location years ago when I use to be a frequent small veggie pizza order-er(I made that word up just now). I was most known for requesting the lunch size veggie after lunch hours and on weekends when it wasn’t available lol… I love this location because they never hassled me about this demand but instead obliged. I appreciate how pleasant the employees are. They are very efficient and swift. This location moved from Olive to Washington a few years ago and there’s still a «newness» to it. It’s so open and bright; enjoy your pie at a window seat overlooking Washington Ave.

I am new to the Lou. Just moved here from Tennessee. We tried Imo’s for the first time. Delivery was quick and the delivery guy was super friendly. Ordered their salad w/house dressing, a plain cheese for the kids(thicker crust), a sausage(thicker crust) and a Deluxe(regular thin crust). We have had the famous«Provel» cheese once before and loved it. Imo’s version of pizza is just ok. The Deluxe was our least favorite. Did not like the bacon on it, and it seemed to have absolutely no sauce at all. The kids enjoyed their cheese and once I tried it, I actually liked it too. The salad was really good and the dressing even better. While we will not be regulars of Imo’s, I definitely think it is one of those«must try’s» in the area… if only to say you have eaten there. I can understand why some people love it… it’s one of those things you either LOVE or not. In our case… it was just okay.

It was explained to me prior to my visit that Saint Louis has a pizza style of its own: Cardboard crust, Provel cheese, sweeter tomato sauce, and cut into squares. I googled«St Louis style pizza» to find a chain of local pizzarias named Imo’s. We arrived to an empty restaurant and placed our order to eat in the dining room. There were other customers that came in but took their orders to go. My colleague after tasting the pizza with its cracker thin crust exclaimed it was the best tasting cardboard ever. I’ve never been big on eating cardboard. I was the kid in elementary school that ate the library paste, a thick liquid adhesive made from flour and water. I didn’t eat cardboard when I was little. Eating library paste was only on craft day when constructing projects such as chains of paper rings made from colored paper. The pizzaiolo at Imo’s needs to be recognized for his talent or gift of making cardboard taste so good. Eating cardboard pizza at Imo’s is my new thing. I also enjoyed how the Provel cheese changed texture through the meal as the pizza cooled resembling library paste bringing a long forgotten taste to the pie.

First time trying this pizza. I’m from Chicago but was very pleasantly surprised, something different. Salad was excellent too! For cheap pizza I thought it wasn’t too bad at all.

This restaurant sucks. I ordered two pizzas for a total of $ 50. One was fine and the other had the toppings totally slid off the pizza onto the side of the box. We ate about a quarter of the pizza and pitched the rest of the sludgey pile of cheese and toppings. I stopped at the restaurant and asked for a refund or a gift card. They were rude and refused either. Call the broadway imos.

This review pertains to the Imo’s name as a whole, not just this individual eatery– What I’ve found, is that most will either love or hate Imo’s Pizza. This thin crusted, tangy, provel slathered pizza pie will taste strange and unfamiliar to some people, but for many St. Louisians THIS is exactly how pizza was meant to be. That includes myself. Living in Los Angeles the past few years, I’ve occasionally woken up in the middle of the night craving these little squares of brilliance. Jon Hamm of Mad Men fame and Jenna Fisher from The Office have said similar things. People who prefer Chicago’s deep dish pies or NY’s greasy triangles the size of your head will probably not enjoy Imo’s as much as a native St. Louisian, but what do we care? Hot or cold, Imo’s is St. Louis pizza.

Good pizza, but not great. I am not from St. Louis and did not grow up eating pizza like this. My wife and I enjoyed a large BBQ chicken style pizza. Like I said, it was good. But it didn’t have us begging for more. Definitely a must try.

My co-workers and I ordered from this location for lunch and the manager there was completely rude. We waited 30 minutes from the time the order was suppose to be delivered. We called to find out that the order was«on its way», which was a lie and we called again 30 minutes later and was told that the order wasn’t even made. The IMOs rep told us that she can knock off $ 8 from our $ 62 order! If anything it should of been half price! Then she asked if we still wanted to go through with the order and we said give us a minute and we will ask everybody if they still want the order. There were still some that wanted to keep the order and as we were going to inform her that we still wanted it, she hung up on us. I suggest this location gets their shit in order because I’m sure the word will eventually spread that this place is NOT recommended.

I like it! I was apprehensive about trying a true St. Louis style pizza, but I really enjoyed it. Just got a small deluxe. Nice and crispy crust, and the Provel cheese was really good. The staff at this location may have been a little rough, but they were at least courteous. Highly recommended!

Well, as a non St. Louisian, I eventually learned that the local style, provel cheese pizza is DELICIOUS cold, but disgusting while still warm(and I normally HATE cold pizza). So… if you’re not a local like I am and are considering giving Imos a shot, consider trying it cold if you don’t like it. :) That said, I live a few blocks from here and used to work a few blocks from here. Clean location, great for lunch, never super busy from what I can tell(apart from after a cards game or other big event). I’ve never had an issue with the staff, and my food has always been on-par for a pizza place. So, sure, I’ll go back when I’m in the mood for cold pizza.

It was alright. Nothing to rave about but not bad either. The staff weren’t all that friendly, a little rough around the edges(and that has nothing to do with their tattoos and stuff) they were just sorta rude. Maybe it was bc someone called in and they were short staffed, I have no idea, but the girl who took our order was getting very annoyed that it was taking us a minute and was not affraid to show it.

Why 2 stars? Because sorry St. Louis… I just do not get it. — — — I know this is like the worst thing you can ever say to a 314ian, but my friend from the area hyped up toasted raviloi’s to me for months, possibly years. He didn’t talk about it every day, but it was a part of conversation enough to be firmly engrained in my head when it came time for our St. Louis visit. And let’s be clear. I don’t let over-hyping affect my judgment. I’m a professional. I LOVE hype. I hype things I love, and want to see that same passion from my foodie and non-foodie friends alike. That being said… Toasted Ravioli? Tastes like something I’d enjoy never eating again. Fairly awful, in my non-St Louisian opinion. I don’t understand how this became a local treasure. I apologize to all of you. I know the only things worse is pronouncing your state«Missouruh.» I did that too, though.

I’m the first to admit that I like Imos. I grew up on it and will probably always like it. This location however has the worst customer service. I placed an online order and they were supposed to call for my credit card information. I have done this before and always get a call within 5 minutes. 30 minutes after my email confirmation I decided to call and see what was going on. The guy informed me my phone number I entered was invalid. I checked the email confirmation because it was very possible I fat fingered the number but it was my ph#. The number he read off to me wasn’t even close. I told him this and he said«well we didn’t put it in and we didn’t get that number. Sorry.» Then he proceeded to hang up on me. Jerk. This is not the first time I have had bad service with this location but it definitely will be my last because I don’t like getting pizza delivered enough to be treated like my business doesn’t matter.

I really liked my visit to this location. Friendly, responsive employees, spacious dining area and good location. My pizza was quite good — typical Imos’s Pizza, but not rushed or under/over cooked like you find at some restaurants.

So after much anticipation I decided to order Imo’s Saint Louis style pizza. I have been here for almost a month now and thought it was time to try one of the city’s signature dishes. I ordered a 10 inch pepperoni pizza with extra provel cheese. I figured since the provel was the signature item on the pizza I would get double the amount. I ordered on the internet and they came exactly when they said they would arrive. I dug in and it was good. I like the thin crust… granted it is thinner than NYC style thin crust pizza but still good. The provel cheese tasted just like regular cheese… like mozzarella with a slight tang. The pepperoni was almost non existent which was a little bit of a downer but it was still good. The cheese wasn’t gooey and oozey enough for me but that is usually the case when delivery is involved. Next time I think I am going to find a dine in establishment so I can have the pizza hot from the oven.
