Best Italian in St. Louis, which is saying something with all the great Italian choices available in St. Louis. Any house specialty is a worthy choice, but my go to house specialty is the Ripieno Filet. The white wine filet sauce pairs perfectly with the perfectly cooked 9oz filet. Mr. Gian-Tony himself stopped by after our meal to make sure everything was great. Also need to give a shout out to the service. Top notch every time no matter who is waiting your table.

Another wonderful meal! Gian Tony’s never disappoints. And my new best ever dessert — chocolate crème brûlée with s side of Tony’s wife’s homemade orange limoncello. OMG. Appreciate the deliciousness!

Have always had great dinners here. Bistecca Alla Rosario with the cognac cream sauce is wonderful. I could eat the sauce with a spoon. Very attentive service and just a nice place to have dinner. Not stuffy, not too casual, good noise level. Just a great, neighborhood Italian restaurant.

I have to admit that for years when visiting St. Louis, I always dined at Dominic’s on the hill. This time i was meeting a friend who lives in St. Louis, he suggested Gian-Tony’s…I went feeling like i’d miss my old favorite… Dominic’s. NOT!!! my friends who are local said that Dominic’s is good food, but kind of a high eye brow place. I bit hoity toity and a bit pricey. the menu at Gian-Tony’s was extensive and had anything you could wish for. I ended up wiht a veal scaloppini rolled and stuffed and breaded and pan fried that was out of this world. One of my favorite dishes ever. All dishes were plentiful, all looked very good and the price was much less than I was used to paying on the hill. Sorry Domonic’s…HELLO GIAN-Tony’s. Can’t wait to come back again!!!

While the good was delicious(I had the Pasta with Scallops), it’s really the excellent service that made the visit stand out. Our waiter was knowledgable about the menu, recommended some of his personal favorites, and kept tabs on if we needed our champagne glasses refilled throughout our meal. Another young man promptly pre-bussed our plates quickly and just over all helped facilitate an excellent dining experience. If you appreciate superior customer service, this is the place for you! We will happily be back again soon.

The food was disappointing. I can’t compliment anything I ate. Is STL Italian really that bad? It came highly recommended by a local. This food doesn’t cut it anywhere else in the US. Even the toasted ravioli were tasteless!

If you’ve never dined at «TheHill» while traveling to or thru St. Louis then it’s something you need to add to your«must do list». Gian Tony’s is one of several authentic Italian restaurants in the area that will make you feel as if you have been transplanted to a small town in Italy. We make it a must at for least one dinner during any of our visits. We have been to Gian-Tony’s several times and never disappointed with the food or the service. Tonight we started with the appetizer special, shrimp and scallop stuffed mushrooms served with Tony’s wonderful marinara sauce delicious. For our entrée my wife had the Bistecca Ala Rosarrio and I had the Filet Modiga. Her steak was served with a cognac cream sauce and mine was served with a reduced white wine filet sauce. The cognac cream sauce was very rich and filling my wife was only able to eat one of the medallions had we not been visiting for the weekend we would have definitely had a to go box. My steak was perfectly cooked and the wine sauce was a perfect compliment. We finished the dinner with a serving of Tiramisu a perfect ending to our meal. One regret is I did not think to take pictures of the entrees Jason was our server and proved to be very knowledgeable prompt and attentive without being invasive. Tony even came by a couple of times checking on us as well as thanking us for our patronage very pleasant and warm personality.

Best food I’ve had in St Louis. Came here on a spontaneous trip and I would definitely come back, maybe just for the food! Grew up in New York with great italian food, felt like home. Come hungry or order half size!

Another great experience. I came here with my boss, who grew up in Chicago. He approved of the food(«it was boss!», he said). Dave had the veal parmigiana which he destroyed. I had the portobello ravioli, which I inhaled. We both had salad and the stuffed mushrooms. The service was great, the owner’s daughter greeted us on our way in AND out, and the food was wonderful. Dave made me skip dessert, to help save my waistline. We both highly recommend Gian Tony’s!

My dinner date and I arrived at about 6:30 without a reservation and the young man attending to us immediately found us a table. He even offered to let us okay the table but we were happy to just get a seat. We were immediately asked for our drink order and served bread. Our server Mike was outstanding and gave us a detailed presentation of the night’s specials. Mike’s presentation was great and very helpful. My date had the Pasta and Scallops, while I had the Chicken Cannelloni. My dinner companion raved about her dish throughout the meal and was impressed with the lightness, the flavor, and the ample portion. My dish was incredibly good. To finish off we shared the house made Tiramisu, which turned out to be the best we ever had. It was creamy, fresh, and the unbelievably good. When the bill came we were both shocked at how the meal, service, and dessert far outdistanced the cost of the meal. Incredible evening and so great to no that Gian-Tony’s still strives for complete customer satisfaction and pride in their fare. Awesome!!! Thanks a lot Tony and Mike!

Arrived on time for my 7:30pm reservation on a Saturday night. ad to wait a bout ten minutes, but the place was packed. The crowd tapered off shortly after. This is some of the best food I have had on The Hill. I tried everyone’s dish. the only entrée that did not(and surprisingly) sit well with me was the spaghetti and meatballs.

Loved it!!! Boyfriend and I were in St. Louis for a minication and decided to dine here one night. There was a bit of a wait, no problem! The bartender was awesome! Drinks were good, he was so friendly, gave several recommendations for places to go in STL. I loved the atmosphere, very homey, family photos were a nice touch. We were seated at a cozy table. Salads were fresh! Ravioli was spectacular, so so soooo good. I highly recommend this place!!!

We eat here often and always find the food delicious and the service excellent. This is truly representative of the St. Louis old style Italian restaurant. They are always willing to accommodate their patrons and the lobster ravioli is divine! It is reasonably priced and I would recommend it without hesitation.

I came here for dinner on Father’s Day. I must say the service was wonderful! The atmosphere was nice, I was impressed! I have very high expectations for the food on The Hill, and Gian-Tony’s was food was good, just not amazing. I felt that the portions were on the small side, and everyone at my table noted that the chef«skimped» on the proteins in their pasta. My mom ordered the seafood linguini with shrimp and clams, and she could not find one bite of clams throughout. Overall, the experience outweighed the meal.

This is one of two favorite restaurants in the St Louis area!(and we dine out at least once a day). Check out the menu and your mouth will water. Go here just once… You’ll be hooked. And smiling!

Meh. Very disappointed in this :( After living in Italy & hearing all the hype about the hill I brought my boyfriend to one very nice dinner and settled on Gian-Tony’s after all the reviews. Service was great & there are quite a few vegetarian options. We ordered the Stuffed Artichoke special appetizer which was AMAZING — except for that the heart wasn’t scraped. It pretty much made the middle of the artichoke inedible. It was gross & really disappointing to work your way to that. I got the pasta all’arrbiata which wasn’t spicy. Boyfriend got the seafood ravioli which was pretty good but was overpriced for the 7 or so ravioli. Also, the staff brought me the wrong food at first. When I complained, the server came back & proceeded to tell me how glad he was I didn’t eat because he would have had to remake it… not that I didn’t eat it because I am a vegetarian & it’s full of meat… All in all, it was good but if this is the best St. Louis I had to offer, I am disappointed…

You listen and you listen good– this place. This place. The neighborbood is daunting, ristoranti on every corner, how to choose? Choose this. Firstly, I’m an Italian from Philly, so I’m picky on Italian food. Nonna Knows Best is the phrase I believe. Gian-tony’s was recommended to me by the local cigar shop owner, we brought the owner a cigar, his daughter laughed and knew where i came from immediately. We were sat, ate the toasted ravioli, drank Pirroni beer, and feasted on clam sauce, juicy delicious chicken, and delectable meat sauce. I loved every bite. I’m flying my family out to St Louis and eating here. If you live within 100miles and you aren’t here now you get in the damn car and go.

My family ventured in for some carbo-loading on a Saturday night. They were busy, but pleasantly not packed to the gills. The bartender was friendly and on his game. We were seated about 20 minutes after our reservation time, which I would have been pretty annoyed with if I hadn’t been at the bar. Our server was very very friendly and accommodating and even laughed at my father’s terrible attempts at humor, however, he was very difficult to understand. Pronouncing Italian words in some accents proves to be challenging for the listener. Anyway, everything our family had was quite delicious. I remember having the caprese salad, which was better when I poured some of the balsamic we asked for with the bread on it. The chicken spiedini was terrific. The side of pasta with meat sauce was ok. The table bread was tasty and they brought us two rounds. I couldn’t tell you what everyone else had, but everyone was thoroughly satisfied. We even had plenty of leftovers. The biggest pitfall was the fact that they didn’t have lasagna on the menu! I also has an excellently fantastic glass of red wine, which you’d expect from and Italian place. On my way out, as I was juggling boxes of leftovers, no less than 4 people asked if they could help me, which I interpret as the entirety of the staff being just generally good people. How do you say Yum in Italian?

I went to dinner with a couple girlfriends at 5 p.m. on a quiet Tuesday. There were not too many patrons, as it was the week after Thanksgiving. They were decorating for Christmas. Our fabulous server was Elizabeth. We all started with the Gian-Tony’s salad($ 6) — Mixed greens with red onions, carrots, cheese & tomato, homemade dressing It was a delightful and refreshing salad. The dressing was nice and light, and the greens were crisp and fresh. We all got the same entrée: Pollo Bianco Con Spinaci($ 18.50) — chicken served over spinach in a cognac cream sauce. It was garnished with green grapes. Side dishes were: #1 got spinach, #2 got a tomato-based pasta, and I got spinach. It was a generous serving of two chicken breasts, nicely done, juicy and tasty. The sauce was stupendous — so luscious. The extra spinach was great, ’cause I ate all the spinach with the first chicken breast. And then had that extra spinach to take home with the second chicken breast. Another meal.
