I was going to give Berra park 3 stars until the swingset broke while we were there… The park is in need of an overhaul. Specifically, the playground needs some updating. They don’t have a toddler’s play area and the big playground has more of the challenging obstacles than you would usually see. For a 10 year old its probably pretty fun, but for a parent I’ve experienced safer ones. There is also an older playground area that consists of concrete structures and metal piping. Again, not really up to todays safety standards. What I do like is the main play area has the rubber foundation. There is also a small water fountain to play in that is ok at best… if its clean. I’ll have to agree with the previous review, best thing about the park is its proximity to Gian Tony’s and Goia’s. In short, If i’m there, I’ll let my daughter explore the park for a few minutes, but there is nothing about it that would bring me out of my way to come.

Nearly 5 acres, Berra Park is bounded by Shaw, Lilly, Daggett aand Macklind Avenues. It was named Virgo Park when its site was purchased by the City in 1945… …It is not named after Yogi Berra. There is a playground, two softball fields and a kick-wall for soccer. The fields are in poor condition. Rocks & weeds are in the baseball infield. The best thing this park has going for it is its proximity to delis on the Hill. The park is adjacent to Gioia’s Deli… which has limited seating. So you can grab a sammie and eat it at the park. …oh and I think the movie«The Greatest Game Ever Played» was filmed here.
