After getting into town last night and checking in at the Chase Park Plaza, I had dinner with my family down at Eau Bistro, given it’s in the hotel and pretty convenient. I was surprised at how empty it was at dinner, given it was a Friday night, but I didn’t mind the peace. High ceilings, a few TVs with the baseball games on — it has a nice, casual feel to it despite being in an elegant setting that matches the feel of the Chase Park. Our server was great; he’d served my stepfather and brother before(they are in St. Louis a bit more frequently than I am), and he was good about explaining where the charcuterie and cheeses came from, the local craft beers, and tips on where to eat dessert in the neighborhood. He also let us take our time in eating and socializing, which gave the meal a nice, relaxed pace. The cocktail menu is a bit light, but there’s a decent-sized wine list, and the beer list has several local crafts(I was a fan of the STLIPA). As previously noted, we started out with the meat and cheese board. The cheese was good, but the star of the show was the honey, which is made locally at a nearby apiary. The meats were also solid, although it’s not the best salami I’ve had. The main course was the star, though — I got the free-range chicken on the advice of the server, and I was not disappointed at all. You get the airlined breast drizzled with a bit of truffle oil, served over mashed potatoes(that has more of a purée texture) with spinach. The chicken was very juicy and succulent, and the truffle oil seeping through the skin really made it a delicious combo. Combine it with potatoes that were on the lighter, whippier side, and each bite was very homey without being heavy. It’s a decent-sized dish that I didn’t finish, even though I was starving, but that meant a few bites for everyone else! I’m only here for a couple days, but if I had more time, I would probably come back and spend a bit more time at Eau Bistro. Fantastic meal with pretty good service — hard to complain.

$ 19 breakfast buffet($ 9 kids) was a disappointment. The cost of getting the buffet is expectedly high; however, the $ 4 cost of coffee/tea and juice(each) makes it clear that the $ 8 steel cut oatmeal or the $ 12 fresh fruit plate would be no bargain for breakfast. However, by the end of the meal I found myself wondering if I would have been happier with $ 10 pancakes or waffles or splurging for the $ 15 smoked salmon, just to have enjoyed something freshly made. I will admit to being pleasantly surprised about the scrambled eggs. They were better than most that one finds withering under their stainless steel dome upon the buffet. But that was it. The rest of the food was merely acceptable and quite picked over.

OK… this was my second visit to Eau Bistro for Sunday brunch. And just as I remembered the options seemed never ending. If Willy Wonka ever decided to serve food instead of candy… it would look like this place. It takes about five minutes just review all the choices. Although at $ 46 a person you would expect to have just about anything you want. So it is a bit pricey, but if you want a special food moment this is one of the places you need to check out. And if you expect great service at that price, they deliver on that too. From our waitress(yeah Chloe) to the special order cooks for omelets and waffles… the staff was friendly, attentive and made sure we got everything we wanted. The only thing they didn’t have was the Wonkavator… but the Oompa Loompas were a nice touch!

When: Sunday brunch buffet @ 11 am Total: ~100(42 per person +tax + tip) Eau Bistro sets a beautiful presentation of a wide array of food options. The dessert table is what originally called me to eat breakfast when we walked by it during check-out. From brownie shooters to martini glasses filled with chocolate mousse, it was simply too hard to resist. After sitting we learned that they serve bottomless mimosas and bloody marys so we each had to try one. My favorite options were the garlic basil whipped potatoes with the roasted vegetable medley. While the waffle comes in a close second. My boyfriend loved the mahi-mahi in a scampi sauce but was not a big fan of the prime rib. There were a number of salad options, cheese/meats, fruit, seafood, and desserts. Definitely not a place for vegans but there were some options for vegetarians. Great place for carnivores.

Sunday Brunch 12÷21÷14. First time back here in a long time and was really disappointed. Small selection: Meat tray, cheese, fruit, lox and tiny bagels. Over cooked skirt steak with cold mashed potatoes, some type of Salmon in rice, Eggs Benedict(cold in a serving tray-these must be mad fresh). The Waffel & omelet station was the only freshly prepared items. Nothing was worth the $ 42.00 per person, Only the dessert selections were remarkable, Our server Chloe was amazing, friendly & professional! Stephanie at the desk was to busy talking with another employee to answer my questions with regard to the dessert table, she needs to explore another career path, as hostess is not her calling. All said, the Chase as a long way to go to compete with the wonderful rest. in the area serving Sunday brunch… Save your money & go to Basserie Niche on Laclede & Euclid.

NY Strip Steak was good, a bit pricey. $ 45, go to a real steak house(Morton’s or Chris Ruth’s for a better cut) for that $$$. PEI Mussels were tasty, that’s is why they got any stars. Small portion of mussels, big toasted bread slices on top, to hide the small portion. However, the Corn and sausage where nice additions to the flavor of the broth. Don’t get the crab cakes; it’s not the traditional lump crab cake. It’s deep fried like a fritter. WTF? For $ 15 you want nice formed crab cakes where you can tell it’s made of crab, not two corndog looking logs. Service was slow, and it wasn’t packed either. It’s a shame that such a nice hotel like the Chase has such a horrible eating establishment. Bad food, Bad service; should be renamed: Eww Bistro. I would say skip this place and spend your money else where. Your taste buds will thank me.

An excellent Sunday Brunch My wife and I were visiting St. Louis and found ourselves with a rare Sunday morning free. That, to both of us means, SUNDAYBRUNCH! Eau Bistro in the Chase Park Plaza Hotel had some pretty decent reviews here on Unilocal and had also been very favorably reviewed in the local paper. We made online reservations(OpenTable) the day before and got the time we wanted(11a). We were immediately seated and right away I knew it was going to be great(not because of the hostess’ wonderful smile) but because I realized they had a Bloody Mary Bar! The waitress brings a glass with ice and vodka and you make the rest. I’m guessing it’s necessary to do it this way to keep someone under 21 from making their own. The only food that wasn’t spot on was the Eggs Benedict. I’ll qualify this by saying that of all of the«mass produced» eggs benedict I’ve been served in a brunch buffet these were probably the best but it has to be almost impossible to makes eggs benny in advance, keep them warm in a serving tray, and keep them palatable. This was the best effort I’ve experienced but naturally nowhere near what you’d get with made to order. The rest of the buffet was excellent, the service was great, and the bloody mary’s and champagne were free-flowing. I highly recommend Eau Bistro and, if our travels bring us back to St. Louis on a Sunday you can bet this is where we’ll be dining.

It’s the restaurant in the hotel I’m staying in so I was surprised how good it was. I had the Heirloom tomato appetizer, the cheese plate and the salmon. It was all fantastic! Beautifully presented, perfectly cooked and flavorful. Who could ask for more. Surprised this place isn’t swamped, it was rather empty on a Thursday night. The preis-fixe was $ 45 and a good value. Surprised but happy!

Very good as far as non-Vegas hotel restaurants go. I had the romaine, steak, and apple bread pudding. They brought out pretzel rolls first. Yum! Then the romaine was a huge lettuce wedge, with mozzarella, anchovy, and dressing. Very tasty. The steak was good. Not great by any means, but good. The potatoes under the steak were very good and the fried blue cheese ball was so strong but I enjoyed it. I also had a grey goose martini. I don’t drink but am a sucker for a good martini and my colleagues were drinking crantini’s(little bitches), so I did a dirty martini… ahhh, I miss vodka!

I am sad I have to give this place one star. When we moved to st Louis 5 years ago my husband and I would go once a month. Two years ago when we had our son we started going only 2 a year. I was so disappointed this time. If you go after 12 there is a chance the food on the buffet might be cold. It was just all bad. It was a terrible waste of money.

When my go-to CWE weekday breakfast place failed me on Tuesday, I decided it was at last time to try Eau Bistro. I pass the Chase every morning on the way to work, and I’ve felt that Eau Bistro and I have been eyeing each other for months. I usually go with a light breakfast as it’s my least favorite meal of the day, However, the blueberry pancakes with cream cheese was tempting enough and made for a great breakfast. I could only eat about half of them. The service was impeccable, and the staff sure bustled around despite there only being about four people in the restaurant at 6:30. They noticed everything, including that we only had one kind of sweeteners at our table rather than three or four. Two seconds after finishing a water, the they came out of nowhere to refill it. I was pleased that Eau Bistro is an attractive, serious but not at all boring restaurant. It’s exactly what I would have expected of the Chase. I’m a frugal person, and I won’t be eating at Eau Bistro weekly. However, when I want to treat myself or someone else, I’ll be back.

We went here for Sunday Brunch for my birthday celebration. I’ll start by saying it is a little expensive at $ 40 per person. The main Brunch area included 2 salads, assorted fruits, cheeses, shrimp, sushi, crab legs, salmon with rice, assorted steamed vegetables, eggs Benedict, bacon, eggs, and 2 other hot lunch meals that I cannot seem to remember(getting older. sigh). A separate area included Omelette maker with the standard choices of mushrooms, red/green peppers, tomatoes, bacon, 2 cheeses, and again I’m forgetting some other ingredients. He also offered a Prime Rib which was his own rub and was excellent! Another area had desserts, a crêpe maker, which could have had more ingredients. I just had a strawberry one but it was pretty tasty. The assorted desserts were AMAZING. A lemon éclair was my dad’s favorite, my mom enjoyed a chocolate with orange tart kind of thing, and my favorite was a blueberry cream pastry wrapped in chocolate. This is where the food really stood out from other places. The old Adam’s Mark hotel brunch is only one I can compare it to. Delicious! Drinks were bottomless mimosas or bloody Mary’s. They have their own bloody Mary bar so you can make your own, or the house’s mixture. Service was very friendly from every single person in the restaurant. We booked reservations on Open Table and had no problem with it. I would give it 5 stars, except the price is a little high. Like I said there are other places with similar quality food and service for cheaper in St.Louis. Yet, it’s in the Chase Hotel and I think is very reasonable for what you get. TRYTHEDESSERTS!

Love staying at the Chase Park Plaza when in town. One of the reasons is desayuno at the Eau Bistro or Café –I don’t know which is which. This is the inside restaurant w/o a bar. Good breakfast and coffee. Huevos Rancheros, forever!

Went here for breakfast(I live in the CWE). It was OK, good in fact, but I found it to be pretty overpriced. I think if you are not staying at th hotel and looking for brunch in the area, there are other places such as Brasserie that would work better for you. The one concession I’ll give is it is one of the few sit-down places that opens early for breakfast/brunch in CWE.

I had spent a day«tasting» Saint Louis and I wanted a chance to have a quiet, coursed, dinner with friends and not be disturbed. I knew that Eau Bistro, inside the amazing Chase Park Plaza Hotel, would fit the bill. I also had a gift certificate that I hadn’t used ages ago and I finally had a chance to use. Order the 5-course tasting menu. It’s 55 for omnivores, 45 for vegetarians, and $ 20 more gets you wine pairings with each course. As with any coursed meal, you’re going to have appropriate portion sizes so you aren’t bursting at the seams when you get your delicious desserts and coffee. Excellent service, top-shelf food, incredible décor. Go here to treat yourself.

Why did my first dinner in STL have to suck so much? We wanted to go to Eleven Eleven Mississippi for their char grilled ribeye but alas fate was not with us. They were closed on Sunday. So the search for steak was on! We ended up at Eau. Like previous reviewers, we stood waiting for someone to notice us. A cook did notice us and ask a waiter to seat us but he couldn’t because he was too busy texting. The service was decent but my sirloin was gross. The potatoes had boursin cheese??? Yeah, it’s not a good combination. The spinach that came with it was salty and the steak tough. My co-worker has the filet and thought it was good. And that’s why they are getting 2 stars instead of 1.

I am pained to give Eau Bistro even 2 stars. Here’s why: I arrived at the Bistro’s entry inside the Chase and had to stand at the hostess’ podium for quite some time(7 minutes) before I was noticed by anyone. Servers and other staff buzzed around inside, robotically immersed in their singular task at hand and almost purposefully avoiding eye-contact with the personage filling the door way(me). This was rude in general, but I had reservations through Open Table, which is why I was adamant about checking in. Reservations or not, I shouldn’t have to tackle a waitress just to be seated. Eventually someone noticed me and invited me in from my embarrassing post in the hotel lobby. I was seated and presented with a menu and wine list, both of which could only be described at skeletal. I ordered, the food was merely so-so and the wine was overpriced. But the waitress, throughout dinner, was so kurt that I felt even more unwelcome than I did as I stood outside. But the rotted cherry on top of the evening, and I wish I had smelled its acrid fumes before I signed on the dotted line, was the $ 13 overcharge. The waitress wanted me out, and I wanted me out, so I didn’t read the receipt as closely as I should have, but when I got home I realized the extent of my donation to this undeserving institution. The reason why I gave Bistro 2 stars instead of 1? The waitress’ demeaor audibly improved as I walked out the door.

The only reason Café Eau is getting three stars instead of two is because they have a lovely pool/patio area — which is where I dined last night. Other than that, this place is overpriced and the service is «meh». Went up to the Chase Park Cinema last night at 6 pm and purchased movie tickets for a 7:30 show. This should give me and my companions plenty of time to eat and have a cocktail, while still being able to find a decent seat in the theatre, right? Wrong! Service was sloooooow! Our waitress was very nice, but I’m pretty sure she was the only one working the patio area, and there are a LOT of tables to cover. She should have had help, especially on a 80-degree evening. Service was so slow that we BARELY got out of there at 7:35 and ended up having to sit separately at the theatre. And there were only 3 of us. Granted, we were seeing the new«Twilight» movie and it would have been packed regardless, but still. We planned accordingly and the service at Café Eau sort of blew it. Maybe dining inside is a different experience, but I won’t be coming back here if I need to be somewhere else within a 2-hour time frame. Time suckage, indeed!

It’s birthday month & that only means one thing. Food galore! My friend & I finally got to make use of a $ 25 certificate obtained for a whopping 2 bucks! :D Saving money while eating good food is always a plus! Eau Bistro is located within the Chase Park Plaza across from the more casual Eau Café. It is on the pricier side, but be prepared for some quality food. The waitress was willing to answer questions, & the chef stopped in to see if our meal was to our tasting. Complimentary Starters: Wild Mushroom Tart & a oven-warm bread basket with butter. Large Plates: Pistachio Encrusted Lamb Chops & Mero(I don’t remember the rest). Dessert didn’t seem too tasty, so we opted for our usual cupcake at The Cupcakery! Overall, it was a good experience, but I like my low-key restaurants without having to feel like I need to be intrigued by the extra wordage to describe something as a simple as steamed vegetables.
