WOW! Let me say again… WOW! This hidden gem is producing truly top flight, world class wines. The winemaker is a true talent that has learned the craft at other top producers, and has a great family business… Amazing wines, and great overviews of their vineyard, growing, winemaking, etc. Luc’s star is on the rise. We can clearly see more great scores, and more stellar bottles coming from here… Year after year!

This was hands down, the best wine tasting experience I have ever had in California. The wines are phenomenal, the setting is great, and the owner, Luc Morlet, spent 2 ½ hours with just my wife and I. We started with a full glass of his family’s Champagne, which he imports, then toured the facilities. We then sat at a table in the cellar and went through a tasting of 6 of Luc’s wines. His Cabs are phenomenal. The Ma Princess Chardonay is a particular favorite of mine, and I love the La Proportion Doree white Bordeaux style blend. The 2011 Late Harvest Semillion, Billet Doux, is the best domestic desert wine I have ever tasted. There was no sales pressure either, although I did leave with an order for a mixed case.

Tasting at Morlet is easily the most impressive wine tasting experience I’ve ever had. As I understand the tasting is conducting only be either Luc Morlet or his wife. I’ve had the pleasure of tasting from both of them. Luc is a 5th generation wine maker from France, and absolutely knows his stuff. He’s studied under many of the best wine makers in California and is the wine maker for many other places. On to the experience. Their tasting room almost feels as if its a small european villa. They’re happy to start you off with a quick tour of the facilities, including the crush pad where there’s a machine that Luc himself invented. After a brief tour the tasting gets started. The tasting is as if you’re relaxing at someones dining room table, both relaxed and classy at the same time. The wine themselves can range slightly between a French and California style, though stating that does not quite do them justice. Their ranges range in price from $ 65 to $ 250(with Champagne from their family in France available at $ 50 a bottle — which is well worth grabbing as its a great dry champagne). A few of our highlights included the White Bordeaux which is still one of the best whites I’ve ever tasted, though in so many ways its much more like a Red. The Syrah is fresh black pepper through and through. Then there are his Chardonnays and Cabs, the Cabs if nothing else are the reason you come to Morlet. His Cabs I’m not even sure where to begin describing they’re simply worth trying. He’s started consistently winning awards, and for any wine fan they’re truly exquisite. They’re definitely drinkable early, though laying them down would of course do wonders as well.

Luc Morlet is «Da Man», his wine is unbelievable, love their Chardonnays, Ma Princess and Coup de Coeur knocked my socks off. We did the tour with Luc’s wife Jodie, relaxed, informative and fun. When I win lotto I am going to drink Morlet wine every night
