Such a hidden gem. I have the Napa Valley passport and went because it was one of the offers. I was not disappointed. I’m not a Chardonnay person but I enjoyed theirs. I ended up purchasing the Sryah, so delicious!

Just went to Ballentine Boutique Winery Since I was blown away by their Cab Franc at a party. What a wonderful wine experience with Roxanne who introduced us to the rest of their fabulous wine. Had to join their wine club. Don’t miss out on this gem of a winery. The Cab franc and reserve Cab Savignon… well at 90 and 95 points … Crazy great!!!

Great visit here with some friends as one was a member. Super small tasting room and very intimate setting with Meghan. She was very knowledgeable and friendly. We just had an overall very nice conversation with her. I don’t even know how many different wines the group tried as it just kept on coming and coming. She would pick out bottles based on each person’s tastes. Definitely smart of her to do that cuz we ended up buying quite a lot. I’m not a chardonnay fan, but wow, their chardonnay has completely changed my view of what a chardonnay can be!

My favorite family owned winery in the area. This was our 2nd visit, we love the knowledgeable staff and variety of wine… Heavy reds for my husband, light reds for us both, and a variety of whites for myself. The family history adds a homey, friendly feel but their wine speaks for itself! Outstanding. Reasonable tasting fees. Waved if you purchase a bottle of course! Will be back.

Hidden gem! Family owned, amazing wine. Our tour guide(Sue, from Ab Fab tours) suggested this winery and it did not disappoint. Morgan was attentive, knowledgeable, and fun! Don’t pass this one up.

Amazing customer service and some fantastic wines. Meghan gave us a full tour of the place and was outstanding. This place is a must-see if you’re in to small family wineries. Do yourself a favor – avoid the tourist traps and come here instead.

Had a fantastic experience at Ballentine last weekend. Meghan treated up like VIPs in the tasting room. We had a little stroll around the property, tasted some excellent vino, and I ended up buying a couple bottles to take home with me. Check this place out if you prefer a more one-on-one experience rather than the meat factories they are running at some of the bigger joints. I’ll certainly be returning next time I’m in town.

Kym is a sweetie but she’s overworked and inattentive due to her distractions. Despite having visited this winery four times over the past several years and ordered a decent amount of wine from them, I’ve had real issues with getting any kind of response from Kym for tasting appointments. In addition, they really ought to be able to accommodate someone stopping by as they are right off 29. Sadly the Maple Lane cab is no longer made. They do a reserve that has so much wax on the top of the bottle that it’s kind of silly looking. The wine is decent however, especially for the price.

Great winery. Had a nice view of the vineyard. Picked up the most amazing sparkling wine, wish I had bought more than one bottle.

Small winery with several award winning wines. Wines were good, but a little higher alcohol content than what I’m typically used to. Overlooking the«burn,» the wines were delicious. Our wine guide was very friendly and knowledgeable about all the wines. This winery gets a 4-star for its Zinfandel port, which is exceptionally tasty(I bought a bottle). I don’t know that I would recommend this vineyard as a must visit, but you’ll definitely enjoy it if you decide to go.

I went to this place on a tour. The people were really nice and the wine was good. However, I ordered a bottle of wine for my mother for Mother’s Day. I ordered two weeks prior to Mother’s Day and asked them if it would be delivered in time. They said yes… The Friday before Mother’s Day I had yet to receive an email, a phone call, or my package in the mail. So I called to see what was going on. This is when they decided to tell me that they tried to email me the tracking number but it bounced back to them.(Why wouldn’t they have called me after this? I still don’t know) anyway, I said it was fine and got the tracking number. When I looked it up, it said that the order had been placed that monday(almost a week after I had ordered the bottle) and that it wouldn’t get to me until Monday(the day after Mother’s Day) so I immediately called and Ballentine was gracious enough to say they would overnight my package. Well, Ballentine forgot to put my town home number on the package and as such fed ex called and said they couldn’t deliver the package that day and that they were closed Sunday. So I didn’t get my wine for my mother(who I had flown in for that weekend only) and I had to call fed ex and Ballentine numerous amt of times to figure out a way to get my package… After all of this. Ballentine didn’t even offer me a free bottle of anything. In fact I’m pretty sure they blamed the whole not being able to get my wine for my mom on fed ex. However this whole thing could have been avoided if they wrote down my actual address completely. If you go here by your wine there and take it with you. Ship it yourself otherwise who knows how long or if you will actually get it.

This is a cool tasting room off HWY29, it is by appointment only which is lame, but if you get there early and don’t have one, they can just put you on the list and let you taste, and it’ll be your little secret. The wines are good, but a bit expensive. And the testing staff wasn’t as nice as they could be.

Maria was great, she saw us in right away and showed us a great time. We learned about the winery and about wine. We tried 6 different red wines and all were fabulous. From the cabernet savingnon to the zinfandel to the pinot; all were very good. We also tried a zinfandel desert wine that was sweet but light and very good with chocolate. You do need an appointment but you might also be able to stop by and see if they have availability. I recommend finding some time during your day to stop here. The tasting room is a little small but it is comfortable and plenty of room at the bar.

This winery was recommended by our inn-keeper and I am glad we made the trek for a tasting and eventual purchase of several bottles of Zinfandel(produced from 50 year old vines) and their semi sweet sparkling white. This winery is by appointment only and because of that their tasting room is small, however our hostess Maria was a delight and we received very personalized attention from her. We also never felt any pressure to purchase wines or join their wine club which made our tasting experience even better. We tasted six of their wines and loved most of them except for the Petite Verdot. Wish we would have found them on the beginning of our trip as we probably would have bought more but we were comforted by the fact that they ship to CT. Thanks again to Maria for accommodating this walk in couple

Love this place. The tasting room is very small and not a sit down luxurious place. However, their wines are top notch and the service we had was friendly and helpful. Of course we had an appointment. Even though we were a few minutes late it was no problem. Tasting fee is reasonable $ 10 or $ 15 but waived with purchase. Wines are not expensive and I fell in love with the Block 9 Zin. Joined the wine club.

Small vineyard on the main highway with decent grounds but a super friendly and upbeat host. Kim provided our tastings which ranged from $ 5 — $ 10. The wines were pretty good and the selection consisted of reds and whites or a combination. I think everyone on the tour walked out with at least one bottle. The tasting room was small, but the service and energy Kim gave off made it one the better wineries/experiences during our shitty Platypus tour!

We were driving along St. Helena Hwy and came across this winery. There was a banner outside that said it was voted the«Best Boutique Winery 2010», so we decided to check it out. The tasting room is small but very welcoming. We were curious about the one row of white grapes in their vineyard and were told that it was Malvasia that was grafted onto the Merlot. She told us they were ready for harvest and were very delicious. Then, she went out and picked some for us. They were excellent! It was hands down the sweetest grapes I’ve ever tasted. We went on to taste the wine made from the grapes and surprisingly, their Malvasia was not a dessert wine. I liked it a lot. Tasting there is $ 5 and you can choose four wines from their list. The fee is waived and you get a 10% discount if you decide to buy their wines. We tried the Chenin Blanc, Malvasia Bianca, Integrity, and Zinfandel Block 11. All were very good. We were told that all their wines are from estate grown grapes that were inherited by the owners. In addition, I guess the owners were out of town when we visited, but they live on-site at the vineyard and usually come out to help pour. I would like to come back and meet them sometime! This winery really deserves the accolades that it has received!

Oh, if you haven’t gone here, you’re missing out! The lovely owner, Kim, showed us a great time there. Good wine, great company, what more can you ask?! Now, they’re more known for their red wines, but they do have 4 selections on the whites. Wine tasting here is at a reasonable price, and if you decided to buy their wine, they will also give you a discount! Happy wine tastings!
