Carrabba’s Italian Grill

I was extremely disappointed in the whole experience at late (3 p. m.) lunch today. Waited forever for a overdressed salad, nearly burned, very dry chicken parm and mushy pasta with meager tasteless sauce. Will never go to Carrabbas again as this was the second try to see if the first trip had been an off meal!

I’ve lived in St. Augustine for 25 years and remember dining at this Carrabba’s within a week after it opened. Have eaten there every few months in the intervening years and have never had a bad or mediocre dinner. Until tonight.
I’d seen the TV ads about the numerous menu items the chain had recently added and was eager to try one of them. I opted for the cioppino (seafood stew), as I had long made that dish at home and wanted to compare the Carrabba’s version to my own. Although the broth was tasty, the seafood component of mussels, fish, clams, shrimp, and bay scallops was skimpy for $ 15.99. I thought the total amount of seafood so scant that the dish barely qualified as an appetizer. Disappointing.
As usual, the service was good, as were the Caesar salad and fresh bread, but the small entrée earns this dinner only two stars. Doubling the seafood would increase my rating to four.

My mother had an order of their meatballs today at 1pm. By 2pm, she was violently ill and has been for the past 8 hours. We are now at the emergency room. I called the restaurant to let the manager know not to serve the meatballs to anyone else, and all Eric had to say was that no one else had complained. Will NEVER frequent this establishment again. Be warned, it appears that others have reported instances of food served in an unsafe condition.

We eat a Carrabba’s occasionally. I love the food and they are always accommodating. Chicken Byran pizza is amazing but no longer on the menu, however, they will make it if you ask. The reason we don’t eat there more often is the service is usually slow and not always friendly. I find it frustrating due to my husband and I are both in customer service and expect the same treatment we give our customers. We were pleasantly surprised on a busy Saturday night right after New Year’s. Our waiter was pleasant but slow. What impressed us was the hostess named Sophia G and a manger we had never seen before, possibly new. We watched Sophia (had to get this girls name) hustle around running circles around the wait staff. We mentioned how hard she was working to the manager and we saw he made an effort to forward our comments to her. The manager seemed to be hustling as well, something we rarely see in that establishment.
It was a nice change and we hope to see more people like Sophia and her manager at this location. Excellent service is the difference between a good experience and a great one.

My first time at a Carrabas & was disappointed. The only great thing about this particular franchise in FL is the fast service! The food was a total disappointment– the fettuccine is too dry, the salad too well dressed & the servings are not generous! I would give this a 1 star if not for the fast service. Definitely will never return to another franchise!

Still the best meal that sometimes is not listed is the «3 chicken dinner» three breasts are prepared 3 ways and this is a never disappointing meal. I’ve tried several other menu options but always come back to the ever so tasty 3 chicken dish. I don’t do alcohol drinks but my guests rave on all especially the chocolate martini. Well just try it and see for yourself!

shame shame — -place going down hill portions small everything shrunk! got charged to put more sauce on dry spaghetti. I was shocked we had a party of 10 people… can’t imagine a manager telling a server to add on for the extra sauce. Is Carrabbas going broke or maybe a poor management system used to look forward to dinner we were regular customers… no more

There was a terrible odor in the restaurant, something like sewer back up. My family and myself had to leave and go to another restaurant. I will not be going to that location again.

It was ok, food didn’t come out at the same time for our party which was uncomfortable. Nothing special, not great but not terrible.

Had a wonderful experience from start to finish. Was warmly greeted and seated, within a minute our drinks were ordered. I ordered the Sirloin Marsala, it was like a hot date that I will always remember. Wow it was delicious. My friend ordered some type of shrimp pasta and they enjoyed theirs equally. From the bread to the salad everything was good.

So attentive and the food is magnificent. Some of the best food we have had at a chain restaurant.

Great place, good food. First time there tonite and they sat us by a window that seemed to have a draft so we moved to the bar where we met an awesome bartender named Katy. Our night only got better from there. We are new to the area and she filled us in on the great places around St Augustine. We will make this place a once a week must for us for on Sunday nights.

As soon as we walked in we were welcomed with smiles, seated pretty quickly and our service was amazing. The food was great and the drinks were refreshing

Best Chicken Sostanza of the three states I had the dish. Pleasantly surprised.

Update: my sister returned to this restaurant on Jan 26 2015 for lunch. She ordered the Chicken Bryan sandwich and some soup plus a drink. When the food arrived she tasted the sandwich and noted it had little cheese on it and so wanted to add some tomato for taste as it was very bland. The dish come with a side salad with tomatoes.
When she opened the sandwich she was horrified to see that the chicken was pink and translucent and was in fact RAW!
She called the Manager who told her that as she had only eaten s small amount, he would not charge her for the raw chicken!!! Although apologetic, she still had to pay for the soup and a drink as well as the lunch that her friend had ordered and not eaten due to the raw chicken!!!

Just another typical good meal at Carrabba’s, they never let down. One thing to point out, they make coffee/​cappuccino from a Keurig type machine. blah.

Had dinner tonight. Overall things just didn’t get close to five stars. The wife’s meal had to go back to get heated came out a little cool. Not sure if the waiter didn’t bring it out soon enough or the kitchen didn’t leave the dish under the melter.
I had the chicken parm was just average nothing bad but not great either the bread didn’t come out with the salads.
So I’d say it about a three star review

Went tonight with the family and got the lasagna and pollo scillia (sp?(The dinner was great, although we ordered dessert (canoli) and it took about 20 minutes to get them. The server tried to explain herself and the manager brought them to us with a free dessert next time we come. Regardless I tried to let him know how long we waited but I think he thought the free dessert would cover us. It is really about the confusion in service, and not the free food. We have a certain level of expectation when we go out to a restaurant and tonight we were disappointed. We will give them another shot but may go north to Jacksonville the next time as we have had better luck up there.

Just had dinner at one of our favorite places. As usual food was awesome and our waitress Haley was terrific.

When you’re traveling it’s nice to know you can always count on large chain restaurants to deliver a solid meal.
This Carrabbas was exactly what we were looking for on the final night of our vacation. A familiar meal at a restaurant that was always good.
Our server was friendly and prompt. The food was great. I had the pasta weezy and my husband the salmon, and our toddlers steak was cooked just right.

I love Carabas and frequent them wherever I travel however the one in St. Augustine left me very disappointed. Though the food was fabulous as usual, the service was horrible. Our waiter was rude and told us you just need to be patient and wait. Had I not waited 40 minutes for a table and ordered my food, I would have left. If you cannot provide customer service with a smile you have no business in the restaurant business.
