Thai Hana 2 is extremely clean and comfortable, has a friendly and attentive staff and a fairly diverse menu with very affordable price points. And despite all of these things I almost always feel slightly disappointed after a meal there. Thai Hana 2 is the clear winner of my «Best Thai in St Aug» award but it’s a pretty short race with unimpressive competitors unfortunately. It’s a Thai family owned and operated business with a few other locations here in Florida. It’s a much better option than Chili’s or any of the other BS chains in that area for a quick lunch or dinner but never really satisfies my craving for authentic Thai food. They excel at making Thai classics for a less discriminating palette and this is a formula that apparently works well for them. They make Thai food with enough flavor to keep you happy but not so authentic that your uncle Daryl is going to get weirded out. Thai Hana does what they do well and I’ll be back for sure.

When we went the outside sign was not lit. This place at night is impossible to find. Service was average to below average. It’s like we were being served by a waitress on her first day. Having to ask for water refills consistently, etc. Prices for sushi were good, so we thought ok we’ll order some sushi. Should have passed, the quality and taste was below average. Tom Ka’ soup was not traditional and very weird in flavor. Noodle dishes we ordered were average in flavor. We won’t be back and really can’t recommend this place. Unfortunately there there’s not much good Asian to chose from in this area. But if you drive 5 miles more you’ll be glad you did.

Not a big Thai food eater, but the roasted duck and curry rice was delicious! Service very fast, and friendly.

The staff was friendly and their early bird special can’t be beat. Sushi is not the best I have had, but it was well worth the price I paid for it. Good place if looking for good meal at a fabulous price.

Wow, the food took 50 minutes before it came. Granted it was Saturday at 7pm and everywhere else by the tourist area in St. Aug was 1+ hour wait. I still didn’t expect the food to take that long. The server did apologize. When the food finally came it was okay, nothing extraordinary and the quantity was quite small for a few string of veggies(Thai green curry) and tempura. I mean they could have just fried extra onions. I noticed that the floor was abundant with servers and hostesses. They really need a larger or more efficient kitchen staff. I watched them the entire time pull out take-out/delivery orders. Maybe if you do one of those your food will arrive in less than 50 minutes… but eating in on a Saturday is not recommended unless your party is 50 minutes late and you drink and place your order 40 minutes in advance before they come.

Not the most authentic Thai I’ve ever had, but *good* nonetheless! My husband had drunken noodles, and though the noodles were not the traditional thick noodles I associate with the dish– and it wasn’t very spicy or saucy-it was good enough to take an extra order home to my Dad. I got green curry chicken and found it lacking heat but not flavor. Service was friendly and attentive. Would come back again and recommend Thai Hana 2 to others.

Nice fresh food. Spicy basil and basil fried rice are both great. Very good lunch specials. Best Thai we have found in the area.

Cute little place in St. Aug what I have typically referred to as Restaurant Row due to the variety of dining choices on the strip. It kind of matches the kind of variety on the menu for Thai Hana. They have a little bit of everything. For lunch I had the soup, a spicy tuna roll with avocado & the pad thai with tofu. The soup of the day was an Udon soup which was tasty. The spicy tuna lacked a little bit of spice, but the roll overall was good. The tofu was perfectly crispy and worked well with the pad thai. Some pad thai’s can border on a little sweet, this one did not and it was a welcome change. I didn’t necessarily want the soup, but it came with my entrée, so some of entrée came home with me for dinner. Thai Hana is is a little hard to get to. If you’re headed east on 312, you turn in like you’re going to Chili’s but if you make u-turn, you will be on a service road that will take you right to the parking lot for the restaurant.

The review below was posted about a year ago and it was a great dining experience at that time which I anxiously looked forward to repeating. We returned recently to find the place under new management and with new staff and I wish I could tell you it was another great experience but sadly, it was not. Both the food and the service have become bland and not even close to the quality we enjoyed on the last visit. Thus the new two-star rating from me. Sorry for this bad news folks but I gotta be honest in my evaluations. ****** ****** We actually stumbled on this little gem by chance while on the way to a wine tasting session at the San Sebastian Winery in Saint Augustine(which is worth the trip by itself.) Thai Hana 2 proved to be incredibly clean, neat and inviting. The staff makes you feel welcome from the time you walk in the door. The menu was complete with all of the standard Thai dishes including lots of vegan-friendly options and we were impressed by the daily specials which included appetizers. Our appetizers and entrees were both delivered hot, fresh and quickly by a very friendly and attentive wait-staff. For the spicy aficionados among us, the table condiment selection was adequate and complete with three levels of «hot.» For those of us who really appreciate the endorphin rush that comes with the addition of a bit more heat, the chefs will be more than happy to bump it up a notch(or two.) When you request this option, they, and the wait-staff will also watch to see your reaction when you taste it so make sure you smile in appreciation and don’t run for the pitcher of ice water to douse the flames. As crazy as it may sound. I’m already looking for a reason to make the 120-mile trip again to justify another visit to Thai Hana 2. Believe me, it’s worth it. «Life’s too short for bland food, bad wine, weak coffee or cheap whiskey» Ray

We came here for lunch on a Saturday, having selected it as the only visible place near our destination that wasn’t an obvious chain. It was a very good decision. I have to say I’m surprised by the very polarized reviews here. Seems like a very all-or-nothing crowd! At any rate, we started with an order of summer rolls [see photo]. While the rice paper was a little loose, the taste was very good. The sauce was more of a sweet and sour than a peanut sauce, though it did have a peanut component to it. Pretty good sauce, although I would have preferred a true peanut sauce. We also each ordered the Big Sushi lunch, which was 2 rolls from a selection for $ 12.95. Between the two of us, we ordered the Play Girl Roll, Valentine Roll, Hurricane Roll, and Ocean Hair Roll [see photos]. Normally I tend to avoid any rolls that are fried or include fried components. I prefer rolls that rely heavily on raw fish and vegetables. However, there were few options for the lunch special that were like this, so we ordered what we could that fit that bill(and that wasn’t merely a California Roll topped with something). The Play Girl Roll is fried, but we decided to try it anyway. Overall, we enjoyed all of the rolls we selected. They were large, very well made, and delicious. The value here is pretty tremendous. This lunch special is effectively $ 26 for four large rolls. Now, I don’t know how it is in St. Augustine normally, but we eat sushi at least 2 times per week back home in Orlando, and sushi of equivalent quality generally runs closer to $ 40 there, for 3 rolls instead of 4! As a matter of fact, we got sushi for dinner the next day when we got home, and while maybe slightly better than the sushi at Thai Hana, it cost us $ 46 for 3 rolls! So the lunch special of $ 26 for 4 rolls is a great deal, especially considering their size. Service for us was right on point, all the time. Drinks were filled well before they were empty, and the servers were smiling and friendly throughout. We had a great experience here, and will not hesitate to come back the next time we’re in the area!

Service: APPALLING, the server forgot to put our order in and then tried to say we never gave it to him or at least until I showed him where in his little notebook he wrote everything down… Which means an hour and fifteen minutes later we got our food and left! Food: FAIR Environment: BORING Cleanliness: CLEAN Price: $ 9-$ 12, we went for lunch and by the time we got our food we had to take it to go, but when we finally got to it… All I could think is «WHERE ‘S THEBEEF?» The quality or amount does not justify the price! Coupons: NONE Special Comment: We will NEVER return here again!

I think the place is great. If you want custom sushi they will do it right away. If I tip well they usually are super hospitable, extra soup for free, sake as well on occasion. Fresh food. I haven’t ordered much anything else off the menu because the sushi prices are reasonable.

Another one of your typical Thai/Japanese«Chinese» restaurants. Just because there is sushi and curry on the menu, however, does not mean you are getting Thai and Japanese. Bland. The scene inside was sad — few tables occupied, so luckily I was getting take out. Prices were not bad, but the portions were outrageously small. Three entrees from a Thai restaurant should be a ridiculous amount of food for two. «Where’s the beef?» This place is lacking — better luck elsewhere.
