Went for lunch today. Service was absolutely terrible. I don’t even know who our server was. No one got refills and our food was all brought out at different times so it was awkward. 3 stars because food was very very good! Maybe will try again and give them another chance at a dinner service.

We went to Sakura for my kiddos bday and I must say that I am glad that I checked out Unilocal to find a fantastic place.
The server was super pleasant — the food fantastic — and they even brought out a birthday surprise for the kid :)
Free sample of the Sam’s Roll was good enough that I bought a whole roll! Also huge props to the Volcano Roll.
I can’t believe somewhere this far inland has such amazing sushi!

This has become my new favorite restaurant! The staff was friendly and helpful. We even received a free sample of their Sam’s Roll of sushi and complimentary ice cream in green tea, red bean or mango flavors at the end of our meal. The food was all hot and delicous and everything on the menu was very reasonably priced for great quality and large portions. This is a great place to go on dates or as a treat without breaking the bank.

First of all, I found this place on Unilocal.This is only the second time I have eaten at a Sushi Bar but the other was in Denver. Which was very expensive but great. The Sushi was awesome but the special was a cone shape seaweed which was very salty and not as good as the regular menu. The sever brought out a sample and it was very good. The soup was good if you like soup that is. The fish was fresh and the I love the hot plates. We had tuna, spicy tuna and salmon all was very good. Next time in Springfield, I am going back for the poppers! Good food, nice people (hard to understand sometimes), and very reasonable.

Shockingly inexpensive and quick with free samples, Sakura may offer the most outright value I’ve ever enjoyed at a sushi bar. The fish tasted fresh, particularly considering how far inland Springfield is, and the service was ultra fast — although that may be a function of the fact that we were one of two tables in the entire restaurant. The hushed atmosphere lends itself well to conversation, but between our rolls, the complimentary roll samples, the complimentary miso and the complimentary ice cream we didn’t have much of a chance to talk — but plenty of opportunities to fill our bellies.

I cannot recommend this place enough! I have had just about every sushi place and Springfield and this my be my favorite.
The staff is very nice and personable. You get to sample a sushi roll while you order, free miso soup, and a free scoop of ice cream after the meal (it was mango ice cream and it was amazing).
The restaurant is very clean and has a great atmosphere.
If you get an appetizer, I would recommend the J Bomb, it’s like a Japanese version of a jalapeño popper.
I’m trying to remember all six rolls we ordered, but they were all great. The ocean roll was very fresh tasting, the Jurassic roll was delicious, and the Sam roll may have been the best one we had.
All in all, my favorite yet; we’ll be back!
