I went here for lunch and was very impressed with the quick service. My server was very attentive and helpful. I ordered the combination sushi roll and sashimi, with the salad and fresh spring rolls. Everything was fresh and flavorful. For the price I was very happy with my meal. I’ll definitely go back soon!

My husband and I have eaten here many times. It’s small and attractive. Kobe has great hibachi for a reasonable price. We happen to love their sushi. One evening the owner sat and talked with us for a bit. He even brought us a small portion of food from another restaurant. Apparently, he was trying to help them get established, so he let his customers try the competitions food too. We really enjoyed our conversation, and what a welcoming gesture! We chose Kobe for our Valentines Day dinner. Our waitress brought us a rose. We really love the food, price, service, and atmosphere.

Poor service, food mediocre — Restaurant was about 2⁄3 capacity(20 People), all tables were messy and waiter told us to pick a table. Only 3 guys working in entire restaurant. Ordered 2 apps, and 3 sushi rolls. Took 20 mins to get apps, another 20 to get 1 sushi roll. We got other 2 sushi rolls 15 mins after 1st one. Family of 5 behind my wife and i sat down 20 mins after us and received their food and check before we got our last sushi roll. Many people walked in and walked out due to no clean tables and slow service. Tempura appetizer was doughy and room temp, sushi rolls were good. Diner shift seemed clunky, wont go back for dinner.

Since moving from CA, my hubby and I have been a little hesitant to go for sushi. But we saw this reviewed on Unilocal, and were in the area, so thought we’d try it out. Definitely good! We got the crab Rangoon and shrimp & veggie tempura for starters. The tempura was thick on the zucchini, but crunchy all the way through, while the tempura on the onion was not crunchy at all. But the rest of the tempura and the crab Rangoon were both absolutely wonderful! First time in Springfield we’ve had crab Rangoon with actual crab in it– sadly enough. The rolls were delicious. Very Americanized, but I wouldn’t expect authentic sashimi in Springfield, MO(and not sure I would really trust it– guess California spoiled us in this department). My hubby is a sashimi fan, so he was disappointed a little by that, but I love Americanized rolls when done right, and these were done right! Awesome balance of veggies, fish, sauces. We also were eating around 3 in the afternoon, and so we were in «happy hour”– where some rolls and appetizers are discounted. The eel roll(my favorite) wasn’t included, but it was very reasonably priced for what you get! Definitely recommend this place.

Love this place! You can get loads of sushi for a very low price. And if you are wanting a good appetizer, try the monkey fingers!

Not very appetizing, and the sauce drizzled on all rolls had an unpleasant aftertaste.

First time we went the food was gross. The rice and noodles were so greasy and had no flavor. The sushi had no flavor. The steak was uncooked and the shrimp didn’t look right. The owner came out and was completely rude. Arguing with us that are steak was cooked right and that all their food had flavor. And instead of just apologizing and him letting it go he went behind the cash register and continued to yell across the restaurant at us. Telling us that he has cooked at one of the top 5 restaurants in the US and has never had a complaint before. I will never go back. Horrible place.

Great food. Great value. And now a new favorite dining place. Service and food both excellent and consistent over at least 6 visits. Dragonball or Monkey Fingers appetizer and Shrimp Tempura Bento Box are quickly becoming my «go to» order. And the Supreme Fish Roll is always a treat. Again, well worth the money, and then some.

I had my first experience at Kobe today for lunch. I ordered the lunch combo. It was $ 9.50 and came with two classic rolls and soup or salad. I chose the smoked salmon roll(cream cheese, avocado) and whitefish tempura roll which had eel sauce and spicy mayo. The salad was cold and crisp with a refreshing ginger dressing. Pretty basic with carrot shavings and cucumber slices but it was tasty. Both rolls arrived timely and we’re very well executed. Tight rolls and pretty presentation. The only oddities were from the server. She sat me at a table and I was waiting for her to return with a menu, but she didn’t. Then I looked around and saw that they were on all the other tables, so I had to grab one. I asked if my smoked salmon roll be made spicy(usually that means the addition of a little spicy mayo or sriracha) but she seemed perplexed. It came out plain and that was okay. Halfway through the chef came out and asked if I wanted spicy mayo and added some to the dish for me. At the end of my meal I paid $ 15 for a $ 10.22 bill. She gave me $ 2.70 change. I asked her if she had kept the other $ 2 for herself and again she seemed confused. I told her to keep that $ 2 as her tip and left. I still don’t know if she understood my meaning. Not sure if it was language barrier or something else. The food was fresh, a good value and it was quick enough for lunch, so I will go back sometime to try that crab rangoon!

The sushi isn’t so fresh or something. Tastes a bit warm when should’ve been chilled. The cooked meals were good. The staff were excellent. My friend got a free miso soup from the owner because her overheard her say she’d never had it. The salad and ginger dressing were also excellent. This place is great for the price we got on a Unilocal deal.

I went here because of the name but the food all tasted like whatever oil they use on the hibachi. I had chicken and shrimp hibachi and fresh spring rolls. The spring rolls weren’t cold. It was terrible but considering I was really hungry it could’ve been a lot better. The service was outstanding !!

First, I have to give this place mad ravez for the crab rangoons. AWESOME. PERFECT. And they’re more than just cream cheese! We both had the dinner select tions; one steak and one chicken. Mist soup was awesome. The salad was… Pitiful. The entrees, however, were quite nice. The meat was tender and flavorful, the noodles were cooked perfect, and the veggies were nice and bright. Although we didn’t go for happy hour, it looks like they have some nice specials. I’d also like to try their rolls. I will return…

Very good food! Service was good. A bit slow as they got busy but that was fine by us for a weekend dinner. Fresh veggies and very good fresh spring rolls. My wife had sushi and I had the shrimp hibachi dinner. Both were excellent. My wife also enjoyed the saki. The open kitchen style makes it a bit on the hot side in the dining room but not a huge issue. Overall a good quality of food, solid service at a fair price.

This place deserves five stars exclusively for its crab rangoons. There’s actual crab in there! They are hands down the best crab rags I’ve ever had. It’s worth a special trip just for them. The sushi was good too and their lunch boxes are enormous and cheap. If you’re working at Cox or St. John’s across the street, and you haven’t come here for lunch you are missing out.

Great staff. Great food. This is the only place in Springfield I can go for Crab Rangoons. The boba here is delicious.

I stopped here on a whim the other night after running errands to grab some takeout and was not disappointed. I ordered the spicy tuna and smoked salmon rolls(to-go). I watched them prepare it and browsed the menu. I was kindly offered ice water while I waited, which was nice. As for the food, it was quite good. I ordered fairly basic rolls, so not exactly rave worthy. I am looking forward to trying other menu options from them.

Okay, second time around, some things have changed for Kobe. The service was still friendly, prompt, and accurate, but the food went through some changes we weren’t so crazy about. I ordered the gyoza again(because I’m obsessed) and they came out so mushy I couldn’t get them picked up with my chopsticks. Hubs tried the shrimp fried rice this time and said it was very, very good. The sushi was still good, but absent of as much meat that it had before. Overall, we’ll keep going back, but like I said before I don’t give 5 stars lightly and I don’t want to lead Unilocalers astray!

I love this place. Great staff, great deals — happy hour is truly a happy event! — food is quality. The food here can compete with any sushi joint in town. And probably win or tie. The prices — they’d win every time! Wish it was close by me. A hidden gem of Springfield’s Asian cuisine.

I had lunch beef bento box. The ingredients were fresh, freshly made to order. California rolls that came with the set also nice. Japanese salad dressing wasn’t too sweet. The booth setting wasn’t that comfortable though. Updated: ordered fried calamari the ordered cost $ 5something, there are small 6 calamari rings on the plate I was in shock. It’s the worst ripped off. I am lowing the review stars. The waitress seems confused and kept forget things, and served food in the wrong table. The last visit was quite disappointed. Updated:01/2016 Oh boy I used to like their crab Rangoon but not this time. They roll it like fried spring roll and barely have stuffing in it. I don’t know if they are trying to cut the cost but that crab Rangoon plate doesn’t worth $ 5

We just ate here for an office lunch during the 417 Magazine Lunch Break special. I found the appetizers to be unique(American with a heavy Asian twist, like the jalepeno poppers) and tasty! Crab rangoons are EXCELLENT. First one I’ve had ever that had more crab than cream cheese. The hibachi chicken was good, veggies and meat and rice all cooked perfectly. But Nakato is my standard for hibachi, and it wasn’t as good as theirs. Still, very good. If the worst I can say is «Not as good as Nakato,» that is not very bad at all. Definitely recommend Kobe, and I will be eating here again.
