Awesome place to hang out and have fun. Great food and a killer Bloody Mary. I eat here every time I make it to Springerville and they are open. Friendly staff and I can’t stress how cool the atmosphere is, especially the back room.

Sadly, Ruben has closed the restaurant. It is officially closed which is a shame. They made the best fish tacos I have had anywhere.

Very good location, easy to find. The sitting outside is very nice. The décor and all is very nice and inviting. It’s a bit expensive for the portions, quality, but expected when around this area. The staff is friendly, not so helpful though. Some extra training would go a long way. The young girl that brought our drinks, didn’t know much about anything and kept coming back and forth to find out which drinks they had in hand. She did say after a while that she was new. I understand being new to the job but it seemed that there was not much communication within the staff/chef, etc. The staff and chef didn’t seem to know much about food allergies or what ingredients they had in their dishes. It took us several minutes to come up with something gluten free for my son. The kids meal was $ 4.75 and we had ordered chicken breast grilled with grilled asparagus on the side, as after much back and forth it was the only two items they could make gluten free. We were charged instead $ 6.75 as a specialty item. I just wish that had been communicated earlier. The chicken was very good, the asparagus ok, my son didn’t even touch it. I must mention this is a good place for kids. My 3 kids had fun actually watching the cars drive by outside, listening to live music(great addition to our evening). We liked sitting outside a lot! We also felt the staff very friendly towards our children. I was really torn between 3 or 4 stars overall, but some items were excellent while others were bland, boring, just regular or you could tell were frozen/microwaved. I think this restaurant could easily be a 5 star place and rock everyone else around if they just kept it simple and original. Instead of having a huge menu(with several items missing for the day) they could simply and just make them fresh, home cooked, from scratch. For example, their fries were not so good, but their onion rings were very good. The salad had HUGE thick slices of onions, almost made in a hurry or carelessly. It would be great if the slices were bite size. Making the salad with a bit more presence, put on a home dressing and it would have been perfect with their very good grilled chicken. The dressings were definitively store bought. The blue cheese burger is what made us give this place 4 starts. It definitively worth every bite! Bake potato and broccoli soup was really good. The bread they serve is very good and comes warm. If they made simple with less items and put all the effort in those items, I believe this place would be so awesome. Anyways, the onion rings were heart attack style but so good, the blue cheese burger was excellent, the steak I had was also delicious. We came back a 2nd time and still loved some items and some sides not so much. If you are in the area, you should try it for sure. We come here every year and we love to try new places. During this trip we actually did not go to Molly Buttler or Greer café, because we liked this place better. One big disappointment and totally lost 1 star because the women’s bathroom was very dirty. The garbage cans were so full that there were paper all over the floor. Also our outside table was not cleaned before we sat down. I got rid of spilled sauces and grease with baby wipes. The place was not busy enough to be that dirty. So that was a let down for sure.

The two star is only because they don’t accept American Express. The reviews sound awesome and I was excited to check this place out only to have to walk back out. Beware you AMEX holders. Maybe next time :)

I’ve been coming to Greer my entire life and have come through Springerville countless times and have never stopped at Java Blues until this trip. This is officially my new favorite place to eat in the area. We were ready for lunch, parked up at Java Blues, and had zero expectations about the place. The server was really friendly and did everything and more we asked from her– Shirley Temple with cherries came with an entire bowl of cherries, beer samples were on the generous sides, extra sides came fast and with a smile. We had the Open Faced Steak Sand which(normally $ 10.99, but on lunch special for $ 7,99) — this thing was to die for. The steak was juicy and flavorful and sat atop garlic Texas toast. The cole slaw was perfect… everything…perfect. I had the Heartbreaker sandwich($ 7.99) which was tons of thinly sliced roast beef with melted brie and caramelized onions on rye. Could eat it everyday. I asked for an side of horseradish which was a a great addition. The kids portions are inexpensive and perfectly sized. We asked for the cheese quesidilla to have some chicken added on top which I believe they did at no extra charge which was super nice. Happy hour pints were 2.50 $ and they even had Hangar 24’s Orange Wheat which was a nice surprise. Great service, great food. We even went back into the kitchen to thank the cook– give that guy a raise!

My friend and I went here one evening for some smoothies and shakes, but things did not go as planned. Now, my friend had been here before and had gotten a malt that she remembered being really good however this time around that wasn’t the case. Our«fruit smoothie» was really just ice, water, and a ton of flavored syrups you usually use for coffee or Italian sodas. We watched the girl making it a little horrified because that was definitely not what we had in mind. It tasted watered down and just weird. We made a deal to trade our drinks halfway through them but that smoothie ended up being something we just kind of took turns holding since no one wanted it(we were out walking while drinking it.) The shake was ok, it was pretty much ice cream, water, and ice so it really didn’t taste like a shake. more like a creamy icee with an interesting side note of caramel syrup. As far as service goes, it took a while for us to get our drinks, longer than it should have but the girl was nice so there’s that. I can’t vouch for the actual food itself, but the whole smoothie thing has scarred me so I won’t be coming back.

Delicious breakfast. The croissant sandwich and breakfast burrito«Java burro» were great. The owner took care of us personally and made sure everything was perfect.

Reuben the owner waited on us personally. What a great guy. Full of recommendations and personality. They have a full espresso bar! This will definitely get us through to our next destination on this road trip.

After rolling into town, up the amazing Coronado trail, we popped in here for dinner, based on the recommendation from the gal at the front desk of the Rode Inn, located just a few steps across the street. At first, I was a bit apprehensive at the idea of a joint that does coffee and steaks, but then I realized it makes total sense, especially in such a small town(population 2k). Screw Starbucks! Screw Outback! We were immediately greeted by a fine young man named Carter, who at the ripe old age of 11, handled himself better than most adults. This kid displayed charm and competence as he quickly brought us menus and waters. We placed our orders and chatted with the kid, only to find out he sings, so of course, we ask him to belt out a quick tune and he does!!! We were absolutely floored by the voice on this guy. Absolutely spectacular!!! Before the evening was up, we ask for an encore, and he gladly obliges. We told him that if he ever makes it to America’s Got Talent or whatever the names of those other shows are, he could certainly count on our votes, fo sho!!! Oh, and the meal was delicious too. Looking forward to a return visit. Check it out sometime. You’ll be glad you did.

Fantastic food and service. The owner(Ruben) is the chef and has only had the restaurant a year but the food is excellent right down to the house salad dressing and the little loaves of bread! Definitely try the stuffed chicken! Ruben was very kind and friendly and I hope to come back soon! Great food on the east edge of the White Mountains. Well worth the trip from Tucson or Phoenix.

So happy we stopped at Java Blues while on a cross country trip. It was getting cold and snowy as we crossed the border from NM to AZ and we really needed a place to sit down and relax. The space is huge — much larger than you’d expect from outside. And it’s a full-service restaurant with a sizeable menu, which you might not expect either, since it kind of looks like a small coffee shop. Ruben, the owner, was incredibly gracious. He turned on the Olympics at our request, served up delicious buffalo wings, impressive homemade soup and generously portioned salad, and gave us great advice for our trip. It’s clear that he cares a lot about the quality of the food and the happiness of his customers. Not sure if we’ll have the opportunity to stop in Springerville again, but if we do, we’ll definitely pay Ruben a visit.

Soooo yummy! Second time eating here. We thoroughly enjoyed the bread, chicken with mushroom marsala and the selection of loose leaf teas are top notch. Hands down the best place to eat in the area!

Java blues is an amazing place for food, atmosphere, and conversation. Now under newer management, the lighting is significantly better than it was in the past. It has a free, fast wifi connection and a wide variety of drinks. The food was incredible, I had the Just a Burger. They even serve burgers with caramelized onions, delicious! The staff was personable and easy to talk to. I definitely think that Java’s is a great place to eat.

I was incredulous when I first ate here at Jave Blues one frigid afternoon but was made a believer and multiple return customer. The staff is friendly and it’s hard to believe food this yummy can be found right off the highway in this small town. Start with the appetizers. The jalapeño caps are deliciously spicy, battered and crunchy. Just so yummy! They also come on a burger that will knock your socks off. Try it! The spinach dip is just great, although it’s kinda off that a house specialty is served with Keebler club crackers. Hmm. Buffalo chicken, chicken salad sandwiches, grilled chicken wraps, etc. are all quite good and flavorful. They all taste fresh and home made. The prices are fine, especially for the sandwich portion of the menu. In short, if you find yourself hankering for lunch right about the time you pass the post office, turn in to Java Blues and have lunch. This is just consistently good food, period.

I only had coffee and a muffin($ 10), but Every time I go to Java Blues I am disappointed. Your better off at(gag) McDonald’s for coffee and mcmuffin. They should go to Barista school.

Amazing little gem of a place, attention to detail is what makes this place surprisingly wonderful. Warmed bread and butter. Rare steak done to order. Amazing saganaki. Fresh desserts! Loved this place. Take a seat and discover for yourself.

We come to Java Blues often and usually have great service and food, but this time was extremely disappointing. We both had salads. I had the oriental Chicken Salad and my friend had the Blues Salad. First, they were quite small given the fact that they were full sized salads. My Oriental Chicken salad was supposed to include grilled chicken, but instead, it included some rubbery chicken that was definitely not fresh. The dressing was tasty, but that’s about the only good thing I can say about it. We complained to our server and she returned a few minutes later to say the manager offered us each a free desert to make up for the disappointing meal.(hint. we were having salads. maybe a free desert wasn’t the best way to go) We were surprised that the manager didn’t come over herself, but we appreciated the gesture and ordered a couple pieces of cream pie. One piece was also very rubbery. seemed to be an on-going theme that night. We only took a couple bites. Anyway … I’m giving Java Blues 4 stars based on their past performance alone. You can’t beat the ambiance and we have always had great food and service in the past. Hopefully they were just having an off night. We will return again, but will definitely skip the salads.

They have wifi but the cuisine reminds me of dog food. I guess wifi access is a redeeming quality when you’re in the middle of nowhere.
