I went in for an ear infection. I’d been trying to deal with it and keep working through the week, but it got a heck of a lot worse. I ended up busting an eardrum and the other ear managed to get infected too. I didn’t really have time to wait for my regular doctor, so I ran over to Northstar. They checked me in quickly and the nurses were nice. I told them I’m severely allergic to penicillin and codeine. The doctor walks in. I’ve had about two or three hours of sleep in the last few days. No exaggerating. I was dozing off every few minutes and was lucky enough to have my mom with me. The doctor, some woman whose name escapes me now, prescribes me what? Hydrocodone(which I didn’t even touch) and Amoxicillin. Not just pills, but she gives me a shot in the arm as well. She tells my mom amoxicillin is too far removed from penicillin and it’s a different generation and so on. My mom just wants to get me home and get medicine in me because my mom cares about her kids and hates for us to be sick. We get home and I start taking it, assuming the doctor knows what she’s doing and would never put me in harm’s way. Over the next hours, I break out in hives from head to toe. Thankfully, I was on some allergy medicines from sinus problems or this probably would have been worse. I call Northstar and tell them I’m having an allergic reaction. «No way!» Yes way. That’s what happens when you give someone the exact thing they’re allergic to. But they’re closing, so I get a new prescription from them and I call my regular doctor and go in the next morning for a steroid shot and I get sent home. That night, I had to go to the ER for anaphylaxis. It took one more visit to my doctor and two weeks for my hives to go away.(And a LOT of Benadryl) I really don’t recommend going there. If you do, don’t let them prescribe you anything that sounds like a medicine you’re allergic to. I told her I was allergic and she persuaded me to take penicillin, even though I know for a fact there are other things you can take, which means she either isn’t educated enough to be prescribing drugs or is just too lazy to look up what else she could give me. Heck, I’d rather have just stuck it out with a horrible ear infection. Seriously, they’re nice people. But that doctor really screwed up. I should never have trusted her.

Service was fast. The physician was attentive and caring. Overall my expericene was a good one. This facility will come in handy for myself and my kids for seasonal colds and other in and out medical needs that arise.
