I don’t understand why all these negative reviews, me and my coworkers, ordered 3 chicken borritos and honestly they were great, the place is clean and love the salsa bar, you can actually get some salsa and chips while waiting for you food, did I mention lots of parking outside. My 1st time there and really liked the place.

So came to this one since it’s closer to my house and nope won’t be going back. Ordered the special carne burrito and 3 rolled tacos, with drink. Was 9 bucks and some change for poorly made burrito and gross rolled tacos. The guac taste odd, not normal tasting guac from any place I have been to. The girl has no customer service skills and it took forever to get my food 10+minutes sitting in the hot sun drive thru. My favorite is the santee one because I have never had a bad order with them. That’s my 2 cents, if in the area stick with the other places my favorite drive thru is santanas, they may take a min but the food is hands down way better and so is the drinks.

Tried again to get the 99¢ fish tacos advertised in the Get1Free magazine, which I brought it with me this time. Had to continually point to the print ad before they gave it to me for 99¢. Hopefully they don’t spit in them. I guess management never reads Unilocal review because they still overcharge customers on the fish tacos. Most likely I will not return.

This is the worse taco shop in spring valley and one of the worse in San Diego… when you order it is wrong every single time… one time my wife ordered food and was charged for things she didn’t order but was told by these incompetent servers she could not be refunded because it already went through… then they have the nerve to calculate the tip total on your receipt when you order drive through or for take out… don’t waste your time going here go to la posta a lil further down the street

This Cotijas is not like the other locations I’ve been to. Our orders were continually missing items or had the wrong order. The last time we went was the final time. Our shrimp burrito seriously had 4 shrimp and white sauce, nothing else. The Carne Asada fries were soggy and meat was tough. The cashier was rude. No Bueno! One star due to no option for zero stars.

So I decided to go back and give them another shot… I’ll NEVER come back again. I ordered Pollo asada fries and a few other things. I pulled up to the window and the girl working seemed like she had better things to do than be bothered by helping me. After it was all said and done and I got my food, I asked for hot sauce and she acted like I was taking it from her personal stache of hot sauces! I couldn’t believe how pissy she acted. I will never be going back and of course when I got home, it wasn’t what I ordered(as usual). I pray this place goes out of business and something better pops up.

The food was good I can’t complain about that. The cashier that helped me I literally had to wait for her to stop talking to the cook so she can take my order. Really rude girl. Honestly if she has nothing to do she should go clean something cause it sure needs some cleaning. The restroom was disgusting and she was just standing looking pretty at the register instead of cleaning that bathroom.

This place is a disaster. The workers are rude and don’t pay attention when they take your order. On top of that, they never get our orders right. How is it that you repeat my order, yet STILL get it wrong?! It’s disappointing and unacceptable. Somebody needs to do something about this place. They«run out» of things to cook, making it hard for us to order. The lady even runs my card before telling me that they«ran out» of chile relleno and chorizo con huevos. DI-FUCKIN-SASTER. Pay attention or get retrained!!! Then again, this IS a taco shop. I would put 0 stars, but Unilocal won’t let me!

HADTOGIVEBACKMYBURRITOS3TIMES!!! The food is good but the cashier Michis is TERRIBLE! She always gets my order wrong. Today was the worst experience ever! I ordered a breakfast burrito with egg, ham, cheese, and sour cream. She told me there was one with same ingredients but with fries and beans. I CLEARLY said I didn’t want fries nor beans. She handed me the burrito with fries so I gave it back. I also ordered a breakfast burrito with egg and bacon ONLY. She handed me a chorizo burrito with bacon(look at how she put in my order on the receipt). I gave it back and restated my order. She came back with a bacon & egg burrito with cheese so I gave it back a third time. She asked me to pull forward while they made my burrito for the THIRDTIME so that she could help the car behind me. When the car saw that they kept getting my order wrong, they took off & the cashier blamed me for it! When I asked to speak to her supervisor or manager she said that one wasn’t there. This type of service is UNACCEPTABLE!

Normally when I walk into a taco shop my expectations are average. I understand that it’s not fine dinning. but to walk into a dirty place this is something I don’t expect. Walked in around 1 on a Saturday. The place was empty. The place got a total of 14 tables(yes I counted). 8 of them were dirty and have small pieces of food on them. Picking a table wasn’t an easy task. While walking to pick my food I noticed the tile floor being dirty as well. My food was average which is normal but eating in such dirty environment made me very uncomfortable.

Had to give them atleast a star to post so i guess. First of all this place was shit when it was Somo’s tacos(trust me on that i worked there) ;and just when I thought this place could not get more disgusting along comes Cotija’s. Well me having experience working at multiple taco shops, was in total shock to find how they operate at this specific taco shop(I actually worked at this location for just a weekend and decided not to come back for the following reasons)… In one occasion the person that was training me that saturday recieved an order for 2 california burritos NO cheese. So about 10 min later i pack his burritos and direct myself towards the window to hand the burritos, the guy then asks if the burritos had cheese so i try grabbing the burritos back from the man to go ask the cook to check them but angela(my trainee) quickly grab the bag and start opening the burritos one by one on top of the register with her filthy hands from grabing money checking if they had cheese. I was shocked! Any person with common sence knows the only person that can grab the food is the cook and with clean hands. Anyway in another occasion i saw how the owner and his«friends» would come in the kitchen and start cutting meat and veggies and what not without apron, gloves or hat. Finally the last straw that convinced me not to come back was when i was being tought how to make the«fresh drinks» such as horchata, jamaica etc. You think they taste good well just imagine how they make them?! Can i say DISGUSTING? and freshhh pfft thats a joke **and just a little disclaimer if you are ever thinking to go to this particular place i suggest you be ready to wait a ridiculously amount of time for your food !! The shorter the order the longer the wait.

Horrible. Had a chicken taco, toppings tasted old, meat was bland and the taco shell was flooded with oil. Can’t imagine they will be in business for long.

Don’t know what all the negative reviews are about. First of all the cashiers I’ve dealt with all speak perfect English. Secondly the food is great in portion they definitely aren’t shisty like saritas down the street. Their shrimp burrito is the best in San Diego hands down. So good I get it every time. The hot sauce is on point never fails. Oh and did I mention their horchatas are homemade? Omg so sweet and good I wanted to drink the whole thing.

½ star not an option. The quality has really gone down since they opened. And it’s not fast anymore. I waited in the drive through for 30 minutes once and only one car ahead of me. Language barrier is an issue. I ordered and got 1 item correct out of 3 and they didn’t charge me for the extra food they gave me. It’s really hit and miss, depends on whos working, never consistent. As you can see, tonight I got a adobada burrito made with a dried out tort(not fried, just dried) that probably sat out for a few hours, the meat however was delicious. The owner needs to get in there and do some quality control. I’ll stick to Loretos or Santana from now on. Oh and don’t be surprised if you sit in the drive through without being acknowledged, you may have to drive up to the window. The salsa is super watered down, and the refried beans are not kid friendly, way too spicy for my kid.

Ordered 5 beef rolled tacos, and was not pleased at all! Tacos were superrrr soggy and very bland. The only thing I liked was the hot sauce, but I would NOT eat here again. 2 stars for quick service & good hot sauce.

This place is awesome, exelent service, food great and plenty of it… we took most of it home. I had the 22 beef flautas and they were delish and huge, my friend had machaca with rice and beans also great tasting. …

The salsa is either super salty or super spicy! There’s no Taste or flavor. The ceviche tostado, the tostado is stall and way too much onion! The rice is SALTY! I think they made the condiments so horrible so you won’t eat the free chips and salsa!

Is this a pop-up taco shop?! Seems like one day it was Atomic Wings, then the next day it was Cotijas. They have a open 24 hour sign, but I’ve gone 3 times and they were closed — lights out, locked up. Is that 24 hours on another planet time zone? The workers don’t know the menu beyond California burrito. Me: What is the difference of the seafood ceviches cause one is double the price of the others? Chicka: Both are seafood. Me: Ok yes I see that… and? Chicka: Well, maybe one is bigger? Me: Can you find out for sure? Chicka: So you want to order the bigger one? Me: No, I want to know what the difference is? Chicka: I think one is cold and one is hot. At this point I give up and just order the«bigger» one. Turns out its more like a soup than the traditional ceviche on tostada that I wanted. If I ever catch them open, I’ll try again.

I saw this place out of the corner of my eye last night and thought no way I gotta go back. I can’t believe they’ve been there for 3 weeks already and no one has found out yet accept for locals that live nearby. It was raining so I parked and went in. It’s big with lots of seating, tables, it’s bright colorful décor, and they are super nice there. They have a 24 hour drive thru too. I’m very excited about this new location, no need to drive to the other locations it’s literally located right off Kenwood off the 94 freeway. So convenient.

I stopped in this newly opened Cotija Taco Shop in the old Atomic Wings location in Casa de Oro, Spring Valley. The place looks very good, clean, and well organized. I ordered the Pollo Adobado Burrito for $ 6.47 The burrito was quite large and tasty. The flour tortilla was quite excellent and had that very nice buttery moist texture. The pollo adobado or chicken was very tender throughout and had a fantastic adobo flavor with its red chile, oregano, garlic, and a touch of vinegar sauce. The burrito also came with onions and cilantro, and small amount of guacamole, an items I wish they put more of in the burrito. In the end, it was a very good burrito. They offer self served freshly fried up corn tortilla chips and a variety of flavored and heat related salsas from the salsa bar. I tried three of them, and the green base one made from avocado and serrano peppers was my favorite. The red liquid one was the hottest of the three I tried, and it too had nice flavor. Service was very good. The girl at the county was quite nice and expects me back soon. I think I will return to try their breakfast burrito. They offer a drive thru too.
