Had fish and chips it was not bad but not the best. The batter was good not too thick and overpowering the fish. Didn’t like the fries they were not fried long enough. Dude had the chicken fried steak and said it was good. We both had a nice garden salad.

Early lunch today at the city café. Busy, but got in within the 20 minutes estimated by hostess. This is a coffee shop that we have visited a few times before. This time ordered the New York steak & fried shrimp dinner. Mary was our server and was warm, friendly and attentive. Meal came with a large dinner salad. It was fresh, crisp and flavorful. Plenty of dressing on the side. Meal came quickly and food was hot. Steak was tender, flavorful and cooked properly. Shrimp was filling and tasty. Cocktail sauce was good. So much food that took the steak home with remainder of fries. Great meal for $ 10.99. Try it but skip the Buffett.

My wife has been wanting to go in there for the $ 3.33 special for people over 50… as she just turned around about that age. She and I went there while in town and really we were not too disappointed. When we went into the place, I saw that the joint was rather full… so I figured that the place was a GOOD place for lunch. I was right. The $ 3.33 menu was somewhat«limited», as there were only about seven or so items to choose from. I ordered the BLT with fries and tea, my wife had the chicken sandwich and fries and a water. The bill was about 9.00…and the wife paid so what(really) should I «complain» about? My sandwich bacon(BLT…) was rather«hard» and hard to chew… as the Bacon was not really bacon… but some type of ham. I ate every bite that was available on my plate, so I really cannot complain about the food. The wife had NO complaints on her meal at all! Anyway, the facilities of Rail City were not bad… and we did expect to see such«clientele» there(meaning inner city type folks that just seem to make us feel uncomfortable really. What the heck, though… The waitstaff were very friendly, the service was fast(enough) and the Keno runner was a DOLL! Her name is Mickel and she was just the best! :) Anyway, bottom line: The food was a three outta five, the service four outta five and the prices four outta five(meaning very fair) so if I’m back anytime soon I would eat there again.

The 24hr/day coffee shop within the Rail City Casino, the City Café is where the«Terrible» went when they stripped it off of the casino’s name. I love Rail City’s blackjack rules, dealers, and pit bosses so during a recent«scratch what itches» run ended up eating there twice. The first time I had their Hong Kong Steak Special, which was a decent New York strip completely drenched in an awful cloyingly sweet viscous«teriyaki» sauce with some steam table rice and veggies dumped on the plate to create a «meal». The second time I had a «Buffalo Chicken Salad» which was a leftover, soggy chicken«tender» which was sliced and served on a bowlful of commercially chopped iceberg lettuce. Terrible on both counts! Save yourselves and eat at the Ale House instead. Maybe a couple of bucks more and immensely better.
