Horrible! Food was tasteless. Ordered biscuits and gravy– NASTY! And the waffles. Not pleased at all. I will never go here again! And who are they to include the tip in the overall high prices of food. Way too much to pay for even a glass of milk– which they forgot to bring my child. That made for a pleasant meal! She was upset the whole rest of the time I had to sit there in a dirty restaurant. I was going to leave a small tip but didn’t get a chance as they already charged for one. The waitress didn’t deserve a full tip! That’s like stealing. So unimpressed, I wish I never went. Thanks for nothing! I do not recommend ever eating here.

Cozy environment with quick and yummy food. We were seated right away and were able to quickly get our drink orders in. I had some French toast, it was traditional and delicious. Warm too, like they brought it out fast. My only problem was after we received our food we were not checked on for a long time and I was not able to get a coffee refill. :(I really wanted more coffee.

Super tasty food, super friendly employees and a super cozy environment is not something that Jack’s lacks.(Insert amazing«end of joke» drum beat.) Okay, enough with the cheesy comments — because I had lots of cheese in my omelet and too much cheese is bad for you.(That’s a lie, cheese is never bad for you. Ever.) All joking aside — I remember when I was little(say between the ages of 6 and 10) and my folks would take us to Denny’s every weekend. I remember being super happy every time I was there. The place was comfy and people were smiling and chatty and I loved hearing the clattering of silverware coming from the kitchen. That amazeballs feeling actually came back while I was seated at Jacks. I get so excited when I find a new 5 star place to eat. Jacks is just that. I have never been before which is just crazy considering I’ve lived in Reno forever. The place was packed around 10:30 this past Sunday when we went in but that didn’t stop the hostess from seating us right away as well as taking our drink order and bringing them right to us(COFFEE!!!). Our waitress was a super nice and cheerful lady who checked on us a few times during the meal but was not over bearing. We got all the re-fills we wanted and she even gave me a to-go cup of Jo which was amazing. This is definitely a great place to stop in for a warm and filling breakfast. Everyone was very happy with their order and the price is great. I am taking my kiddos to Jacks! I am told that the owner is also a super nice dude — showcased by the fact that he was walking around talking to people and even helping bus tables. Very cool!

Family all decided it was a good day to go out to breakfast(Memorial day) and we hadn’t been to BJ’s BBQ for brekkie before. Drive out there and come to find it’s closed– ACK! Quick, we’ve got three hungry young kids that need to get pancakes in their belly STAT or all he! breaks loose. To the batmobile Robin– errr– to the Unilocal app! Thanks to proximity search, found Jack’s as a worthy alternative just a hop skip and a jump away. Got seated right away, though by the time we were finished it had mostly filled up. Service started a bit slow but ended up just fine in the end. Food was good. Generic breakfast diner food, but not that there’s anything wrong with that. Sizeable portions like most diners offer that more than filled us up for the morning. I got a chorizo scramble, wife got a mushroom bacon omelette. Both were good. Kids got… wait for it… pancakes! I never really understood the kids menus at breakfast places where it’s something like«one pancake and one egg and one strip of bacon» for five or six bucks. Obviously they’ve never seen my kids eat pancakes. So we got a full stack of five solid-sized pancakes to split between the three of them, which did the trick. I’m probably not going to drive out of my way to come here since it’s on the other side of town(which for what it’s worth I WAS willing to do for some house-smoked corned beef hash!) but as a quick substitute, I was certainly satisfied.

Love love love Jack’s I have been coming here for years! If you want a hipster breakfast, fancy setting or trendy cuisine, keep your butt moving. If you want a diner, a real life honest to god your momma and papa went to this kind of joint kind of diner, then get on in here. They have some of the best waffles in the land and I love their breakfasts. Sure, sometimes a waitress can be a little grumpy, but to me that’s part of the charm. And hell to the yes they get damn busy at breakfast on the weekends. Jack’s. A GD true blue institution if you ask me.

Jack’s Café is the perfect diner experience: friendly and fast service; delicious, wholesome food; hearty portions; and all at a reasonable price. I can’t recommend this place enough! We’ve been experiencing a drought of good service in the Bay area, so coming to Jack’s was a breath of fresh air. We got our drinks practically the moment we sat down! Then our waitress came, and although we weren’t ready, she came back as soon as my boyfriend and I had closed our menus after deciding. Perfect! The food was standard breakfast fare excellently done; perfect scrambled eggs, yummy biscuits and pancakes, crispy sausage, and out-of-this-world potatoes. When it came time to pay, we didn’t realize that we should take our check up to the counter(our mistake) but another waitress, not even our own, took it up to the counter and ran it for me. So, so sweet. If we come back to Reno, we’ll definitely be returning to Jack’s.

I went at what had to be peak or near-peak times on Sunday around noon. It was *packed*, with a wait, but since I was solo I got seated immediately. It took under 10 minutes to order and another 10 for my food(spent goofing off on free wifi so scarcely noticed). The country fried steak and biscuits and gravy were fannnntastic. Prices and portions were great. Will be a regular breakfast stop for sure.

Jacks rates up there amongst the worst places I have eaten. When you walk in the door you are greeted by an odor that smells of a combination of damp and sour. The ham and cheese omelet was dense and flat, cheese was puddled thickly and randomly in the scramble, I ordered English muffin and was brought cold sour dough toast, when I brought this to the wait staff attention she apologized and within 10 seconds had an English muffin for me, pre-cooked anyone? I came here on a recommendation, never again will I trust that persons suggestions

What? I haven’t written a review for Jack’s Café? Jack’s is almost as infamous as the casino that’s near it. It’s been around for a while and there’s a reason for it. It’s good. Nothing fancy and nothing pricey. Just good service and good food. It’s fairly easy to find. Just east of where Kietzkie and El Rancho meet on Victorian. This old style café heralds from the days when a restaurant could be identified by the building it occupied. Most times, there isn’t much of a wait. This time was no exception since I got there early 8:15 on Sunday morning. I met up with my dad and friend. The atmosphere, as previously described, is old, but nice and clean. The service was quick and friendly. I ordered the bowl of cream of wheat. With, the necessary accompaniments. Brown sugar and butter. MMMMMMMmmmmm! And, a side of an English muffin. The food came out as quickly as it took to toast the muffin, which wasn’t more than a few minutes. The cream of wheat was hot Hot HOT! And, everything I ordered with it came out, just as I ordered it. Which pleased me! I was happy, burnt my tongue and life was good. — — — — — — — — — — — — – Bottom line Yes, it’s a decent little place to go for a bite to eat. WARNING, it does get busy at peak breakfast hours!

Jack’s is located on victorian across from rail city. Situated in an old dennys building, this restaurant has been a main stay in sparks for years. When you arrive you are greeted promptly, and shown to your booth or table. Jacks is only open for breakfast and lunch, closing around 2pm. The wait staff is extremely friendly and attentive, refilling beverages and checking the meal was cooked correctly. I ordered a hamburger on a french roll with cottage cheese. The burger was garnished with pickles, onions, tomatoes, and cheddar cheese. It was good, just good. Nothing earth shattering. I would say the food here is better than black bear diner, but you feel like it is still dennys, food you can count on, but just not alot of wow. So in closing, i will be back to try there breakfast, and maybe a different item for lunch.

Stopped here on a road trip to Idaho to let the kids out and grab some breakfast… definitely won’t do it again. While everyone else’s food seemed to be ok, mine was absolutely unacceptable. I ordered the breakfast quesadilla which was supposed to have eggs and chorizo in it… there was eggs and chorizo all right, and also the plastic and metal end piece from the end of the chorizo tube. I took the plate back and they were going to make me another one… umm, no thank you. I just had a bowl of fruit and some toast instead. The waitress apologized for the mishap, but then told me she wouldn’t charge me for the quesadilla and that she went ahead and«took care of the fruit too» — as if she was doing me a favor by not charging me for the replacement fruit. We picked this place at random by looking on Unilocal — and this place had good reviews with people saying how good the food was… I really hope this was an off day for this place, but either way — I won’t be going back.

If you love gravy then this is your place. The hearty breakfast special is very filling Basically comes with home fries, choice of meat, 3 biscuits, and choice of eggs. IF you’re looking for something different at the GSR then this is the place. My friend ordered food here and she enjoyed it too.

The service here is great but the food here is pretty bad. You can tell they order frozen steaks in bulk and cook them straight from frozen. Our steak on our steak and eggs was grey in color and sitting in water not grease. It was also cooked very well done when we asked for medium well. We asked to change to hamburger steak and eggs aslo requested to be cooked medium well. It tasted charred very well done. The home fries are just potatoes no flavor whatsoever. Only reason we gave it an extra star was for the bacon coffee and service.

Solid, good breakfast. It was served fresh and hot and pretty quick. We had a group of 22 people for a family brunch and I did not expect their service to be that quick. The food wasn’t excellent, but it was very good. We will look forward to visiting it again for another large family brunch.

This review is for the Chicken Fried Steak(CFS) here w/Scones. It’s the best CFS in town, and they put the excellent gravy on the potatoes too! The Scones are deep fried goodness. The eggs are always cooked perfectly. What makes Jack’s the BEST is every time I order it’s always ready in 10 minutes! Overall it’s super filling, I EVEN have some leftovers!

I want to love this place more because the customer service is great but the food always seems to let me down. This most recent visit I was torn between two options and asked the waitress for her suggestion. She recommended the chiliquilas(sp?). I told her that sounded great but it needed to be really mild in terms of spice. She assured me it wasn’t spicy. I agreed but again reminded her I cannot handle spicy at all — mild all the way please. The food came out fast and one bite in I knew it wasn’t mild as promised. She came back by and I asked for sour cream. She asked if it was ok and I told her it was way too spicy. She said she didn’t think it would be a big deal and she was happy to bring me sour cream. Sour cream didn’t help. That means I am only eating half my meal. I had to leave them all off to the side and eat around them. Serious bummer. The coffee never stopped flowing which was nice but serious downgrade for the food. I recognize spicy is relative but after several reminders a simple warning would have been a better route. I don’t think I will come back for anything other than the traditional offerings like waffles and pancakes.

This place is amazing. They give huge portions we had to take the rest of our food to go. I ordered the country fried steak and my husband ordered the southern country fried potatoes and we loved our food. Plus, they make their country fried steak from scratch! Now that’s a plus. To top it off the waitress was great and friendly although we had to ask for our water 2 times but other than that she was great. When we ordered a couple minutes later our food came we were so surprised by how fast it came we didn’t even have to wait long plus they seemed pretty busy. Anyway my husband and I will definitely come back.

5 stars because my son said so! His reasoning? «Mom they have good service and the food is good.» Maybe I have a young Unilocaler on my hands! Lol This is a diner and on be a diner level service was extremely attentive. The server checked up on us very often and not annoyingly so. She smiled and food was brought out fast. Prices are also very reasonable being around $ 10. HUGE portions! Order less to prevent left overs.
