I would avoid this company like the plague. I signed up for an alarm contract in May 2013. The sales process consisted of a representative coming to my home to outline the service Guardian would provide and at what cost. The installation and monthly fee was very reasonable and competitive. Guardian also uses modern equipment which I liked. I was hesitant to sign up at first. Guardian requires a 3 year contract. Since I knew I would only be in this home for about a year it didn’t make sense to sign up for a 3 year agreement. The sales representative assured me I could cancel the contract at any time for a $ 250 fee without any penalty. I signed the agreement based on these terms. Fast forward a year later. I was moving and no longer needed the alarm. I called Guardian and much to my dismay they would not allow me out of my contract. Furthermore they flat out accused me of lying, stating their representative would have never misrepresented the terms of the agreement to complete a sale. I have a letter from a Guardian manager basically assassinating my character. I was called a liar. I moved in April 2014. Despite Guardian no longer providing me alarm service and having taken possession of all their equipment I am still paying them a monthly service fee and will be until 2016. To add insult to injury after they had removed all the equipment from my former residence and were no longer providing me with any monitoring I received a call from their monitoring center. They said there appeared to be a communication issue with my system. Really? The system was removed but it took a month for someone to notice. Amazing. Everyone I dealt with was extremely insulting and unprofessional. I was willing to pay the $ 250 cancellation fee sold to me by their representative yet they chose to not only use strong arm tactics to continue getting their monthly service fee(which they no longer provide me anything for) they also attacked me personally in the process. Shame on me for not reading the fine print. I took the representative’s word that there was a cancellation fee and a way out of the contract. Had I read the fine print(which is written on the back of the contract in font so small it is not easily gone through) I may have avoided this headache. I couldn’t imagine why anyone would chose to do business with Guardian Alarm. I don’t care how good their product is. Their business practices are unethical.

We’ve had a Guardian system for years and have been more than pleased with everything. Great customer service! They answer the phone when you call them and their price is competitive. It also pleases us to use a locally owned, Michigan based company!

Great company very pleased with my system and the customer service I received if your going to get a alarm go with them. ADT is a mess. This is a Michigan company and family owned trust me don’t make the mistake of going with adt I lost money with them and you don’t want them in ur house. They took time to explain everything and WERENOTPUSHEYANDDIDNOTASKFORMONEYUPFRONT!

I called Guardian because they’re a Michigan company and I wanted to spend my money here. Once their sales representative, John, came to my home, there was absolutely no question in my mind I made the right decision. He was calm, thorough, very engaging, and made me feel comfortable with the system I chose. The installer was also prompt and did excellent work.
