EMRP Major Guard Automotive Extended Warranty

I just purchased my 3^rd vehicle from Enterprise Car Sales today and for the third time in a row I included the EMRP extended warranty that Enterprise offers to their customers. Not only have I always been covered but I can use any certified mechanic as opposed to dealership selected shops like other competitors. This warranty option is one of the top reasons why I buy my cars here and now sell them! Come down and check us out to see if we would be the best option for you!

EMRP is a complete ripoff. It took the receptionist at my mechanical repair shop two hours to get through to a rep who assured her that the repair was covered. She was told that she needed to call back after the price was determined and then get a claim number for the relay switch repair. One day and four hours later the receptionist was unable to get through to a rep at EMRP so she could be given a claim number. I needed my car so I agreed to pay for the repair, $ 120, and told here I would then get reimbursment from EMRP. Big mistake! Never do this!!! It took three separate 20 minute phone calls to get them to agree to reimbursement of $ 101.15 of the $ 120.75 bill (they claimed my mechanic of twenty years over charged me for the part. FAT CHANCE!!) This event took place in Dec. of last year and I am still waiting for the reimbursment check form EMRP. Three months and still waiting. I’ve been told three times that the check has been mailed and that I should have it in 7 – 10 buisness days. During my last call I asked what date the check was mailed by them… long pause…“I don’t have that information available.” I asked if he didn’t have the information available to him becasue the check had never been mailed. Another long pause. I asked to speak with a supervisor and was connected to a woman who had the manners of a barnyard pig (My apology to pigs everywhere.). The «supervisor» could not have cared less. The EMRP reps and suprevisors are the most ill-​mannered, ill-​informed, badly trained customer service people inthe entire industry. I’ve provided a single star for this review becasue I wasn’t able to give them zero stars. I’ve been telling everyone I know about this awful service and will continue to do so. It’s shameful. Up until now I have always thought highly of Enterprise. I used to rent cars from them for my frequent out-​of-​town business trips. Not anymore. It would take alot for me to consider doing business with them again. At a minimum, they would have to pay me what they owe me!

I discovered this week that I made a very big mistake two years ago when I allowed myself to be talked into buying an Enterprise extended warranty (EMRP Major Guard Automotive Extended Warranty administered by General Motors). I knew I shouldn’t have done it then and I’m doubly sure I’ll never buy another one. Here’s why. A couple of days ago, my Toyota dealership discovered that the water pump on my 2009 Camry was leaking and that a rear strut was broken. My service writer called Enterprise Extended Warranty for authorization to effect repairs. No problem for the water pump, but no dice for the strut. The Enterprise Warranty rep refused because he said the strut is a wear-​and-​tear item, which it is NOT. It took six hours of phone calls back and forth between me, the Toyota dealership and the Enterprise Used Car dealership where I bought the car to get the matter resolved. The exasperating part of it is that, had the Enterprise warranty rep bothered to listen to the Toyota dealership’s description of the problem and had he taken a minute or two to check the Toyota parts diagram he would have immediately seen that the strut is not a wear-​and-​tear part and that it IS covered by the extended warranty. The warranty was sold to me as a bumper-​to-​bumper plan not unlike a new car warranty. So, I expect the company to come through when necessary and not play games. I guess I was wrong about that, too. The Enterprise rep refused to listen to anyone until the Enterprise Used Car dealership sales manger where I bought my car called and insisted that he check the parts diagram. The repair was then approved. All that frustration, time, and effort could have been avoided had it not been for an obstinate individual at Enterprise Warranty. But that’s not all. During the ordeal I called Travis Walker, a district manager of sorts at Enterprise. He was less than helpful. It was immediately clear to me that he had little, if any, interest in helping to resolve the problem. I also placed a call to Enterprise Warranty regional manager, Ron Wang, and left a message detailing my problem. Mr. Wang apparently couldn’t be bothered even to return the call. EMRP Major Guard claims that customer service is very important to them. I don’t believe that. So here’s the deal. I MAY buy cars from Enterprise in future, but under no circumstances will I purchase an Enterprise extended warranty. Enterprise Extended Warranty has proven to me beyond any doubt whatsoever that doing so would be a major mistake.
