Really tasty breakfast and took bagged sandwiches for lunch on the trail but the donuts were to die for!

So glad we hit this place up today! Right down the street from Denmos. Really wonderful treats– we got a little sampler of items, including cookies and cannoli (and a latte, hehe). Everything was yummy, but the cannoli stole the show. So fresh and creamy! The girl at the counter was lovely and the owner was very nice to chat with. Will be back!

I have had cakes (Strawberry Vanilla Whipped Cream), Donuts and Breads at this place and they are all very very good. Some of their donuts are as good as you get (especially the granular sugar Jelly, which is a Blackberry Jelly Mix). I used to frequent a location he had in Newtown years ago, and I figured out it was the same owner the minute I tasted that donut. The cake I have ordered (multiple times) is moist (which is important to me) and as good as it gets flavor wise. The breads are also very good, and the best around the area. In my opinion there is not a fresher or better bakery in this area, and I would highly recommend this place.

Love! Love! Love! The deliciousness is overwhelming! My husband and I have experienced breakfast and lunch here and both were scrumptious. My husband ordered my birthday cake from here and I have never had any better… what a treat! I have tried their cupcakes, donuts, and cookies also… OMG! Sooo good! And the owner, Tony is as sweet as they can get! Actually he is as sweet as his bakery items! lol So warm and welcoming! And the coffee is done perfectly! Im so glad to have Cakes and Bakes so close to me. I can’t wait till the weekend go grab breakfast there again! Bravo!

I was so sad when Tony closed Andrea’s Bakery in Newtown. It seemed I bought a chocolate mousse cake (the fondant icing is amazing) every month, after hearing he was closing. But now he’s opened his new place that expands his offerings to lunch options as well as coffee and seating! I’m back to bringing his chocolate mousse cakes to every friend who wants a killer dessert. Love Bakes N Cakes!

Great bakery great food. The owner is wonderful. He always goes above and beyond to show his customer appreciation. The menu has classic favorites and a few things you won’t find anyplace else in town. Really what’s better than a sandwich on a fresh baked roll made in a real bakery plus they make tons of great baked goods you won’t find anyplace else around here

Local gem! I was in the area visiting family and saw the Unilocal reviews and had to stop by. There was a donut monkey bread out for a sample when I came in that was so delicious, I ordered one for the next day. Then left with some amazing tricolor cookies, anisette cookies, and little buttery gem cookies with a dollop of jam in the middle. All were amazing – just like the bakeries I grew up with in NY! Came back the next day to pick up my amazing donut bread and left with more cookies (especially big fan of the almond ones), crème puffs (yum), and a plain donut and chocolate donut. All were fresh and had just the right amount of sweetness. Best part is this is a local, small business run by someone who loves baking so much he came out of retirement in Newtown to open another store in Southbury. Cannot recommend this place enough!

Tony is the most caring and wonderful person I know. It’s an honor to have his services in our town. He made all my daughters communion desserts and they were spot on delicious! Brings me back to the good old days of being in the Bronx. No need to travel anymore for our classic old style desserts when we have Tony right here in Southbury. Bakes and Cakes is for sure the best place for any specialty cake or just some yummy desserts and sandwiches. I’m proud to support such an amazing person and his establishment! A must have is his cheesecake the best I’ve ever had. Tony has a true passion for his work and is exhibited in his creations. Stellar job. The Sebouhian and Rutledge family.

Was looking for a quick bite to eat for breakfast while going to the post office, and this new bakery happened to be nearby. I stopped in expecting to get a Danish or croissant, but I saw cannoli shells at the bottom of the display case and it was like a siren went off in my head. I asked whether they served cannolis in the morning, and the answer was yes! I ordered a large chocolate chip cannoli, and they filled it to order. The cannoli was a joy to eat. Since they weren’t pre-​filled, the shell was still perfectly crispy, and the cannoli filling was smooth, creamy, sweet, and slightly tangy. The amount of chocolate chips was perfect. One large cannoli filled me up for breakfast and came to a little over $ 3, which I didn’t think was too bad.
Overall, I loved my cannoli, and I was glad to support a new local business. Everything in the display case looked great, the bakery was clean, and the girl serving me was friendly. I’d definitely go back to try more of what they have to offer.

Tony is the man and makes the best Italian Pastry in CT as far as I’m concerned. I recently moved to Woodbury from Brooklyn, NY and the canolis here remind me of being back in NY. I recently placed a large order for a party I threw and all the guests loved everything. I served cupcakes, cookies, canolis and sweet shots. I’ve had lunch here a few time too and haven’t been disappointed yet. Definitely worth a visit ASAP!

If you haven’t had Tony’s fritters and donuts, you really are missing out on a treat. If you haven’t been blessed by Tony’s generosity and kindness, you are missing out on even more. Cookies, cakes, pastries, breads, cannoli, everything Tony makes is fabulous. All is made with a kind heart and rich ingredients. Worth a stop!

Home of the «monkey donut» a pull apart monkey bread made from donut dough! Perfect for a brunch, a meeting in lieu of a box of donuts, or just to take home for the family. All of the baked goods that I have had have been delicious and I had avocado stuffed with chicken salad on greens which was the lunch special the other day and it was perfect. The owner always comes out and says hi to check on the customers. Small, but a nice friendly atmosphere. I go about twice a month and recommend it. A nice addition to Southbury.

Great new bakery to Southbury. Everything is homemade and is much better than local grocery store bakery. The fresh salads are also great. The cakes look amazing but I haven’t tried them yet.

I was overjoyed to learn that Tony opened Bakes N Cakes Café in Southbury! He is a fantastic baker and has a wide selection of fresh pastries, cookies and other goodies. His new menu is expanded, offering great breakfast and lunch items as well. Great coffee too. If you want amazing food and a warm and friendly atmosphere, this is the place!

So sad! I ordered a cake about 4 weeks before picking it up for my husbands 30^th birthday. When I went to pick it up the owner said I didn’t order one but he had a similar cake I could buy. After looking through his orders he discovered mine and said he «must have overlooked it». I did not want the pre-​made cake that was sitting in their fridge for who knows how long but I didn’t have a choice. I thought this was a big deal, he clearly did not.

Bakes and Cakes is one of Southbury’s hidden hems. Great fresh food, good price, wonderful service. The pastry are fresh and delicious and they have a great breakfast/​lunch menu in addition to daily specials. I had a breakfast sandwich on sundried tomato wrap, egg, cheddar, spinach, and bacon. I also had a great cup of coffee. I can’t recommend this place more highly.

This café serves cakes, cookies, pastries, bread, cupcakes, donuts, coffee, soup and salads, wraps and full breakfast. Other non– alcoholic beverages also available. You place your order at the counter and have the choice to take-​out or eat at one of their tables. I ordered a salad with romaine lettuce and added: roasted red peppers, grilled chicken, bacon and avocado. The service was quick considering the salad, including the grilled chicken, was made to order. All the ingredients were fresh and tasty and the portion size was generous. The owner came out and asked if everything was ok. He also walked around and greeted his other customers. I love that he did that! I will definitely come back to this place and try their other items.
