Great new bar in South SF. A friend and I were looking for a bar around the area to grab a couple drinks before hitting the gym and came across hometown heroes on Unilocal. The place looks fairly new so we thought we’d check this place out. Upon entering, it was well lit inside unlike other bars and there was a good amount of people. There was a pool table and a machine where you can choose your own music as well. Long story short, 4 shots of henny privilege and 4 beers later, we felt we got enough drinks in and decided to leave. After looking at my bill, I thought I was paying the wrong bill. It came up to only $ 32! Wow! Super cheap and affordable and the service is superb. Everyone was super friendly and this place got the job done. A+ service, A+ pricing, and A+ atmosphere. I would definitely be back

Be on the look out for it when you’re driving on Grand. I love neighborhood places like this where the staff is friendly, Deandre is a cool guy, and you can order food and drinks while watching a game. Also, the atmosphere and the music is chill, absolute GOODVIBES. A way better alternative to hanging out at the bar at some restaurant. You can definitely come out to this place to just kick it and have drinks with the homies. The few times I’ve come into this joint was to watch the Warrior games. It’s a pretty cool spot to liven up the area a bit. It’s clean, they have great selection of alcohol and a good amount of TVs. I can for sure imagine when baseball season rolls around, I’ll be here a few times catchin a Giants game after work, grubbin on those Crack Fries and having a beer with some friends. Oh yeah, don’t sleep on the wings too… BOMB!

My girlfriends and I stopped in here and we were so impressed with the welcoming vibe! We had some great laughs with an owner and had a delish Apple Mule… amazing.

Always a good time at this spot. I’ve been to several sports bars in the city since I moved here from LA and this is by far the best one. They have great signature drinks with reasonable prices, food from Crackbirds and big screen TVs to watch the basketball game, football game, UFC fights, boxing matches, etc. The vibe is great, the bartenders are friendly, welcoming and attentive. We also met the owner Trung he welcomed us into the bar, if you meet him you will know off the back he is one friendly guy. Coming here I’ve met so many individuals that I can call friends. So if you are in South San Francisco I recommend you stop by this sports bar you will not regret it. Also don’t forget to stop by on Tuesday for DUMATUESDAY tell Diem we sent you.

First time coming here for a warrior’s game. The place looks hella clean and they have usb plugs at the bar! Ordered a dark and stormy and the bartender didn’t know what was in it. It’s all good though the drank came out pretty good. Then we ordered the crack style fries and it was crackinnn. We met Miguel and he was very friendly. I would def come back again.

Came here on a Monday night and the first thing I noticed was how clean the décor was. The owners clearly designed this place with a younger crowd in mind; incandescent lights and a concrete/hardwood countertops with USB plugs underneath to charge your phone. They have a decently stocked bar in terms of whiskey, but I can’t say for the other hard alcohol. Cocktails are moderately priced from $ 10-$ 11. They have a pool table with a clearly designated«Who is next» list. A huge plus for this spot is that they have a kitchen with some pretty heavy food if you’re looking to get full and not go somewhere else after you get your drinks. We ordered the Crack Style Fries(fries topped with cheese, bacon, spicy ranch(?), and green onions) and they did not disappoint for bar food. Miguel helped us and was really great! Best food service I’ve had at a bar to date. He brought us our food and checked up on us a few times seeing if we needed anything. I will be coming back.

I came here for a pop-up which was great but the bartenders need some work on how to make their signature cocktails! The one we ordered was pretty horrible and it took at least 10 minutes for the girl to make it(she didn’t know what she was doing). Stick to beer and«club» drinks and you should be ok. Oh and the area is kind of sketch at times, I left and a guy was bleeding from the head and trying to get into the bar.

Love this neighborhood bar. Staff is so fun and friendly, patrons love to chat or will leave you alone, good music playing, and pool. I love the drinks here, and it is nice to have a bar that feels like a bar in the peninsula when you don’t feel like going into the city. I haven’t tried the food yet, but my friend tried the wings and truffle fries and seemed to like them. Thanks, HH for a consistently great experience time and again!

Came here for my cousins birthday celebration. Food was DELICIOUS, especially the kimchi fried rice and the churro waffle a la mode. Great vibe, really like the setup. Great place to catch a game for sure.

Bottom line: Good food and drinks. Bartender should either get help or only work before 4PM because he sure as hell can’t handle a little bit of a crowd. Service: The reason for the low rating. I went there Tuesday night 12÷8÷15 at 7PM. There were maybe 4 people at the bar and one table of people who were already served. It took us about 20 minutes to get a drink. First the bartender ignored my friend waiting to be served and took a shot with his friend. He then told my friend that the bar back could serve her and he went to the bathroom. When she tried to order the bar back let her know she didn’t mix drinks and could only pour beer or shots. So we waited and waited, the bar back said she’d bring over our drinks when the bartender came back. He finally comes back and serves two more groups of people before mixing our drinks and sending the bar back to give them to us. Wings: Delicious wings. Crispy on the outside, tender on the inside. Exactly how wings are supposed to be. Flavor wasn’t overpowering or too saucy. I enjoyed. Drink: Splash Brothers — strong as hell but easy to drink. I downed one of these before going to have sushi and I was good throughout dinner.

Great neighborhood bar in SSF! Great vibes, music and look. They have an awesome whiskey collection and the bartenders are friendly. Went on a Friday night and it was perfectly crowded, lots of traffic, but not too stuffy, and no drama! Overall a younger crowd(20’s-30’s). Just what the peninsula needed when we don’t feel like going out to the city to hang out. Looking forward to coming back to try the food! Definitely coming back.

Had dinner at Ben Tre — right up the block & decided to grab a quick drink after… It was about 8:30 and the place was packed, probably because the Warriors were playing(Go Warriors!). My friend and I both just got a beer — I got Lagunitas IPA and she just got a corona — came out to $ 10 — and then we got 2 shots of Henny — total came out to be $ 27(I think). We found one stool by the pool table and some guy who worked there was kind enough to notice that only one of us were sitting so he found another stool from a table and brought it to us. We had the best of both worlds — watched the Warriors game & watched some really talented pool players play. Will definitely come back if in the neighborhood — but don’t think I’ll go out of my way to hang out here.

A wonderful classy environment to watch football play pool and hang out with friends. Service was top notch. Best Moscow mule authenticity, wings and smothered cracked style fries were to die for. I will be back again for sure.

Yes this spot is new and hip but this spot needs to check their bartenders and dranks. First off my Moscow mule was made with simple syrup, who does that? I don’t wanna drink dessert I want to get drunk. My dude got an old fashion and they put tonic soda in it? Umm no that’s not how you make it. When I asked to remake the Moscow mule without simple syrup ASHLEYAMRULL said you want to order another one? WTF no you’re suppose to just remake the drink, I’ve worked at a restaurant and bar so I know how it is and can call them out on their shit. Then another bartender took my drink when it had ¼ still left in ugggh then told them and they asked if I wanted another one, yes duh you threw away my drink. It was not until I got my receipt when I saw they charged me. That is just not right.

This is officially my new go to spot after work. Super tucked on Grand, easy to miss but a cute trendy«dive»(I use that term loosely) sports bar. Pool table, long bar, electronic jute box and a kitchen with yummy appetizers. First off… the waffled grilled cheese to TODIEFOR. Yes I know it is only a waffle with american cheese grilled to perfection, it is so incredibly delicious and just the right snack to go with any after work drink(makers & ginger ale for me). We also ordered fries, and against better judgement did not order the kimchi fried rice. Even though it looked so good, we were more concerned about drinking away our problems, instead of eating our feelings. :) The staff was great, friendly and young. This is a new bar that is trying to attract a younger crowd. it is working. Everyone in there looked under 35. I loved it! South City is not known for it’s awesome happy hours or trendy-ness. Hometown Heroes deg gets a 5 star rating from me. Not to mention the sick Marquee that have hanging up with perfect spotlight to make your Instagram pic a good one! :) I’ll be back for sure.

«not all heroes wear capes» I recently bought a yacht docked out of south san Francisco to use as a weekend getaway of sorts. I didn’t know south san Francisco well, except for the fact that its known as the«industrial city» and there are a few dim sum spots on grand avenue that I have frequented over the years. When I heard hometown heroes opened up shortly after I bought the boat, I was excited to check it out. I, like many, attended during opening weekend. The crowd was fun, but the place was packed with people spilling out the door. There was a pool table and a massive line for drinks at the bar, so we stayed for about half an hour and bounced. When we left, there were 3 cops hanging out front. Not a great first impression, but figured we would give it another shot when it was less busy. Fast forward to two weeks ago, football Sunday. After doing some boat errands, we found ourselves Unilocaling venues to catch the niners game. Hometown heroes popped up and figured it would be a good chance to redeem itself, and that it did. The bar had a good amount of people, all niners fans(which I’m not but that’s okay), but good vibes all around. We took a seat at the bar amongst the crowd and were served promptly. I didn’t drink, but was told the drinks had a heavy hand. As hunger snuck up on us, we were thrilled to see that food was offered from crack birds? Hella carby and delicious options: kim chee fried rice, wings and grilled cheese. All delicious and crack addictive(or so I’ve heard). All in all, a no frills spot in south sf to watch the games and drink with some friends.

I will say, it was pretty cool to see a new bar on Grand. It was a testament to the gentrification that’s been taking the bay area by storm(not trying to get political here, just an observation). I did like the«Hell of a Night» signage that you’re greeted with upon entry. They tried to set up a sports bar vibe with all the tv flat screens, aesthetically the place is ok, and they played good music. But #1 — The price: never did I ever think I would pay anything remotely close to $ 10 for a cocktail in SSF. But hey; business is business, which I understand, it just caught me by surprise. #2 — I must’ve been unlucky, but damn the bathroom was grimey. Being a new place, it should be close to pristine condition, not paper towels everywhere, bottles left, and certainly not chunks of yack. If you’re not down with the homie/bro scene, this place might not be for you. All in all, it was cool to check out a new local establishment.

We strolled in exactly 1 minute after they opened and scared the bartenders a bit. I mean who in their right mind goes to the bar at 10 on a Sunday morning? US — when the Hawks are playing! From the outside, it is pretty easy to overlook Hometown Heroes. The sign is a bit small and the door is small, but the inside is very modern and sleek –long and narrow. They got instant brownie points because they had the Seahawks game on the speakers and showing on the big screens. To your right the bar takes up the the majority of the right side, with ample seating and three huge screens behind the bar. On your left there are a few floating tables that seat parties of 5 with smaller overhead TV screens. Toward the back of the bar there’s a billiards table with you guessed it more TVs, arcade game and yet another huge TV with additional seating against the bar. I did see a kitchen that looked unused but as of right now they only serve drinks here, huge alcohol and beer selection(plus gluten free ciders FTW!) If you want food they do allow outside food. Bartenders here were super cool and very down to earth and very easy to talk to. Great place to watch games during the day, can’t imagine how fun it will be at night! Added bonus, they have hooks along the bar to hang your purses and every 2 or so stools there are a set of USB plugs for charging up so no need to worry about burning your battery while you are tracking your fantasy team. They got WiFi too!

Chill spot. Chill music. Chillllll staff. Need I say more??? :) Okay, okayyy, a few more things to note… Theres a pool table. A full bar. An arcade, and hella good music jamming all night long. And, I esp. dig the level of thought put into the décor of the space. For example: they have a side wall dedicated to a collage of real photo canvases, and a display of snapbacks above the bar area. Oh, and my favorite was the cool grey magnetic board in the back of the bar that added even more personality to the place as a whole. :) I also bumped into several folks I knew, which must only mean it is THEE coolest new spot to hang out and grab drinks at! Sooo, if youre still just reading up on reviews; take my word and just go check it out nowwww… now now.

«If you build it they will come» Dude…stop the presses, South City just bumped up a notch in my book. I’ve lived here for 1.25 years now and have been BEGGING for some entertainment and action in my suburban life. In walks HH aka Hometown Heros. Heros for sure, because they rescued us from the boring, Buffalo Wildwings, or BJs bar options. This is a lively, young, motivated type of establishment that understands that the tides are changing. Sports bar with tons of TVs, digital juke box, and a pool table to boot. They’re drinks are proper, with very friendly bartenders(cute as well). Order the«Dutch mule» which is a Moscow mule but with Gin instead. If you haven’t discovered this place, you will. They’re also planning on serving some awesome bar food, partnered up with local food trucks. THISISWHATSOUTHSFHASBEENWAITINGFOR. Tip of the hat to the owner. Can’t wait til football season. Cheers.
