Excellent food. We ordered scrambled eggs on toast and croissant with tomatoes. Delicious ! We will so be back! Also great value for money. You can have breakfast for 6 dollars! And the waitress is very cute and friendly!

Simply perfect. Great service, flavorful food, satisfied tummy. Came here to avoid another hotel breakfast and couldn’t have made a better decision! I had the steak and egg with hash browns. Steak was cooked perfectly and hash browns were extra crispy as ordered. Great coffe and comes with a small cup of your own creamer to add as you like. My boyfriend got the hamburger patty with ease and extra crispy hash browns as well. We sat at the bar stools and really enjoyed watching the cook work his magic on that small flat stove top. This place is a must!!!

The inside isn’t much to look at but I stopped in for lunch anyway and ordered the bacon cheese burger. To my surprise the burger was cooked perfectly and had great flavor. The portion size was also pretty large for only 8.75 $!

Definitely a place I frequent whenever I’m in town. I get the breakfast for lunch since the omelette’s are well worth it since it’s a nice size. Super Mario when I“m hungry, but when I don’t feel like getting a omelette I get the corn beef hash and eggs, hamburger steak w/eggs, or the various egg benedicts they have. What each of those dishes have in common(except the benedicts) are the hash browns they serve and it is just the way I like it! Nice crisp on the outside and a soft hot inside. The service from the waitresses is good and they’re prompt and attentive. The place is a bit small, but comfortable as you sit down on padded diner benches or stools at the front counter. Of course parking could be a challenge since it’s on Grand Ave. so it’s best to park in the residential areas, if you plan to have a nice meal and a glass of ice tea or water w/your friends to chat or catch up w/each other.

Great old style diner. Had the corned beef one morning and chicken fried steak the next. Food was excellent! Inexpensive and fast service. Hash browns grilled just right. Will definitely eat here again on my next trip to SF.

Love the look, love the smell. Walking into this place i thought I wasn’t going to be satisfied but I totally was. Food is pretty good the only thing I would have to say that the bacon was a little dry. Other than that this place would’ve been a five stars from me. The bacon is a big part of my breakfast #justsayin

cuter than you think it would be by looking at it from outside. nice breakfast food shrouded in a sea of burrito places. Best place in south city for the type of food. but shorter hours than the chains.

My bf and i came here early one Saturday morning after our drive up from Santa Cruz. Famished, we quickly chose this spot based on the reviews here on Unilocal. We ordered 2 french toast combos and we shared the mario omelette as well. Everything tasted so fresh and delicious. The prices were great for our limited college budgets. A must for breakfast if youre in the area or live in South City. Beats Dennys and IHOP hands down. Cant wait to go back.

After landing at the SF airport my friends and I decided we wanted some breakfast. Found this little diner on Unilocal and I must say we all enjoyed our breakfast very much. The place is pretty small and looks a bit old with stool counter seating as well. I had the blueberry pancakes breakfast combo, my friends had the cornhash breakfast and the country fried steak. The blueberry pancakes had a little too much blueberries but still good and the pancake syrup could have tasted a little sweeter. Other than that every thing else treated great.

Our first time here. Very apprehensive because it made us think of one of those greasy diners. But the food was delicious! My husband and I shared a custom veggie omelette with potatoes and a short stack of pancakes. High quality flavors. Very generous with the vegetables. Would go again for sure. We got full on $ 20, including tip. Never judge a restaurant by it’s appearance.

Eds diner was a great breakfast. I originally saw it from Unilocal good reviews, trying to find food in an area you aren’t familiar with can be difficult. I went there with a total party of 6 adults and 4 kids. We took up almost all the counter seating because there were no booths available when we came in. And a booth wouldn’t fit all of us. The food was great. You see the cooks preparing your food, and there’s no heat lamps. Your food doesnt sit. Straight from the cook to you. We all got our food in a timely manner and none of the orders were messed up. Tasty too. Sure I could’ve cooked this at home, it wasn’t gourmet food, but it was yummy satisfying and filling. Great start to our day on our mini family vacation. I would go again. Only negative is small sitting area but that’s not their fault. It’s a small building. But worth the wait for a seat.

There’s no better way to start your day than a visit to Ed’s. Lucy and the staff there make you feel like you just stepped into Cheers as they know a majority of the regulars by name. You will get a warm greeting and either a stool at the counter right in front of where the magic happens or a seat at one of the 6 booths that are available. Then it’s time to take a peek into the menu that has more than enough choices to quiet that rumble down below. There’s everything from the Chef’s Special(2 eggs done your way, with a choice of bacon or sausage, hash browns or home fries and toast) to pancakes and French Toast. Then we get to the amazing omelettes, in which there are 18 variations(I personally have to get an Ed’s Special each time I come in, yes it’s that good). They also offer great burgers and patty melts. What’s there not to like about this place? It’s my favorite weekend breakfast spot, swing by and give it a try, I promise you won’t be disappointed!

I’d characterize Ed’s Diner as a «Dive Diner.» It’s got lots of character and appears to have some history. But it’s also somewhat dingy. I sat myself and waited approx. 10 minutes before the waitress came and took my order: coffee, water, V-8 juice, and Portuguese Delight omelette, and a side of corned beef hash. I should not have ordered the corned beef hash — the omelette was mammoth! I also found that the corned beef hash was not very good — it had an odd taste to it. The omelette is also served with hash browns and an English muffin — a huge amount of food! What makes an omelette Portuguese? I’m glad you asked! The inclusion of a lightly spiced, smoked Portuguese sausage called«Linguica.» The rest of the ingredients in the omelette included mushrooms, onions, cilantro, jalapeños, and cheese. A very tasty omelette indeed! The hash browns were hot and crisp — although I only poked at them and ate a couple of bites. I am trying to keep my carbs down. And so left most of the English muffin uneaten as well. Back to the dinginess. The entire place could use a good power wash. The ceiling needs to be gutted and replaced. And the restrooms? And the entry to the restrooms — well, I’ll just let you experience that for yourselves. :-)

All American diner. Comfort food so bring your hardy appetite. The grille is right in front of the counter. You know the food will be good, prepared well and served hot. The Italian omelet was wonderful. Great breakfast anytime of day.

Small mom and pop little breakfast diner. I struggled with the decision on giving them or 3 or 4 stars so I will have to come back again soon to update it back to a 4. They messed up our order and the service was kinda bad about that(although they apologized and took off the gravy) Their omelettes are Great though(farm fresh is what I had, and my roomate got the special and both were good)

Came here with a co-worker, since we were craving breakfast on a Saturday after work and we wanted to give it a try based upon all the good reviews we read. It’s a pretty small place, but I loved the old diner appeal. Ordered the Super Mario Omelette with hash browns and everything was delicious. The omelette was very filling and about the same size as the serving of hash browns. Service was very good. Based upon all the other patrons reactions as they were enjoying their food, this is definitely a local hang-out. I’d very much recommend coming here.

Best omelettes in town! We’ve been coming here for breakfast/lunch for the last 2 years and it’s now part of our routine on the weekends. We’ve tried a lot of fancy restaurants in SF, but there are not as tasty and fresh as those served at Ed’s Diner. The egg-white veggie omelette is amazing!!!
