The server Alex is one of the best server I ever seen. He is so polite and friendly. We like his service a lot.

Good food, and lots of it. Neighborhood diner vibe, because that’s what it is. Love it for breakfast or dinner.

Came here before going to the airport for trip. CASHONLY just for a heads up. But they do have a third party ATM in the restaurant so you can grab some cash if you really wanted to eat at this place. I believe the ATM has a $ 3 service fee. Service: I only saw one waitress working there during a busy breakfast time. But she was keeping up very well with everyone. Very professional and hard working. Food: The plates were huge portion! The quality of the food is similar to denny’s or ihop. Can’t complain for the price. Overall: I would recommend this place with some reservations.

Breakfast at big joes is amazing! My first time here– I came for breakfast and everyone loved what they got. Had an omelette with spinach and tomato. We waited 15 minutes. Second time here boyfriend and I came during 1:30– no line. I had breakfast and boyfriend had burger w curly fries. CURLYFRIESAREAMAZING! Highly recommend this place — only con is it is cash only but there is an ATM and many banks nearby!

This place is great! Often come here when I need to service my car since it’s close by. We’ve only been here for breakfast, but I’m sure lunch and dinner is just a great. Our go to dish is the Corned Beef Hash, it is soooo good!

We stopped here for some breakfast before dropping someone off at the airport. The restaurant wasn’t very crowded for a Sunday. We were quickly brought menus which had pretty typical diner options of eggs, pancakes, burgers, etc. I had the spicy sausage with eggs, hash browns, and toast which was just ok — the sausage wan’t as spicy as I expected and the waitress never brought out my toast. My son had the french toast which was also just ok. Coffee refills were slow. When it came time to pay the bill, the waitress brought the check but then passed our table a few times without collecting it. After flagging her down and handing her two $ 20’s for a $ 26 check, she asked if i wanted my change? Even if the service was spectacular, which it wasn’t, I wouldn’t have left an $ 14 tip. I don’t think I’ll be returning

This is my family’s favorite breakfast spot. The food here is delicious and in my opinion is better than millbrae pancake house.

Tried this out on a Saturday morning for brunch after hearing good reviews of the corned beef hash. I didn’t think it was anything spectacular, yet there was a guy beside me who got the country breakfast special and it smelled better than mine for sure. The place wasn’t very full, and I sat on the bar along the kitchen, but I felt like the food took a long time to get ready for all parties in the place. It’s an okay place in case all the diners nearby are totally packed. I may be back to try a burger, the place usually has the aroma outside like it has to have good burgers.

Came here expecting a quick 530pm dinner on a non-busy Friday night. Sadly, waited 45 mins for 2 burgers. Alex, who is a complete example of an unprofessional, idiotic waiter, served us.(He brought me the wrong drink, in which I let slide because I didnt care… checked in on us once, in where I asked him why our food is taking 45 mins, then finally brought us our meals, incorrectly. At least 3 tables who arrived after us got their meals before us.) our experience w Alex: 1. Us: «No Mayo»… Alex: «Don’t worry I put it on, not the cooks, I wont»… burger arrived swamped w Mayo. — didn’t eat it, called Alex over. His response, Deffensive, rude, full attitude in effect: «WHAT, im not allowed to make mistakes» Then he had the audacity to charge the full bill for a meal, barely eaten due to a mistake he knew he made. The tables around me were even shocked at his unprofessionalism and demenour. Susan, another waitress stepped in and sent him off. She had the sense to understand the whole expierence was WRONG from the beginning, and it was SHE, who compd our bill. Alex: you are the epitomy of HORRIBLE service. It is never ok to be rude and disrespectful to a paying customer. We pay for food to the way we would like it served, it is not given to us for free… so, in that respect YES! we have the right to tell you what we would like on it and not. You should take that into consideration before acting like a complete fool, yelling back at a customer. Management: a customers experience is what will keep them returning, as well as either help your business grow or fail. It is clearly apparent, you need to reiterate this to your staff. Summary: dine ELSEWHERE or hope Susan is your waitress.

This place should be shutdown! I’m a native San Bruno to. big deal. I just wasted 45 minutes for 2 burgers in this joint that had 3 customers ahead of me. The waiter f_cked up the order from the start. Wrong sodas, mayo on a bbq burger, burnt onions and fries still frozen. Had to nerve to ask me to pay. This lady who calls herself a manager, what a joke. You should feel lucky all you’re receiving is a crappy review.

Last night we literally walked into Big Joes right before they closed; a good ten to fifteen minutes at least. However that did not stop Alex from welcoming us in and serving us. I flipped a coin to decide between the french burger and the B.L.T. Fate was on the side of the B.L.T., and its a good thing because it was freaking amazing. The sandwich had genorous portions of all three ingredients. The bacon was cooked to perfection. They were out of the potato salad so I opted for the onion rings. I received a massive amount of homemade, beer battered rings of happiness. A very successful substitution for the potato salad. The sandwiches also come with pickle spears and carrot sticks. The food was amazing, but the biggest star of this place is Alex.

It’s rare that my husband and I find ourselves defeated by breakfast. It normally occurs if the food is either fantastically bad or the portions are amazingly huge. Big Joe’s definitely falls into the amazingly huge category, with the added bonus of being amazingly tasty. My husband and I were visiting my sister in San Bruno, and needed a fortifying morning meal. We searched Unilocal, and settled on Big Joe’s. They were open a little earlier than advertised, which was great; only one other customer was inside. We sat, looked at the menu, looked at the specials written on the whiteboard above the counter, and settled on the Italian frittata and the linguisa and eggs. With coffee, the bill came to $ 28.12. The fact that we couldn’t eat it all? Priceless. This is the best breakfast food we have had in ages. The waitress told us they never have items in the fridge for even a week, and that while you may wait a bit longer for your meal, you will appreciate it when it comes to the table. Ingredients are fresh, and our breakfast was fantastic. Sure, it’s a diner. Sure, it’s a bit on the well-loved side. But man oh man, their food more than makes up for any flaws you might see in their décor!

San Bruno native and Sunday breakfasts at joes was the ticket. I don’t know what happened within the last 10 years but the service has been garbage and their food selections have been the same and if you’re lucky you can get a good piece of meat. They have odd hours and the waiting staff has gone down hill. Are they all on drugs? I feel bad for the owners because they’re trying to do good, but the front of the house help is terrible. If you’re walking by, keep walking. I don’t recommend this place.

Weekend brunch is one of my favorite things to do. I stopped by Big Joe’s for Sunday brunch. I found them through Unilocal and was intrigued by the raving reviews and the appetizing pictures. The space itself looks like a trendy old school diner. There were black and white tables with seating at the bar. The main wall adjacent to the kitchen was decorated with old school cars. We decided to order the Italian fritata and the homemade corned beef and hash(both at $ 10.95 each). When we received our order we were surprised at the amount of food we received. The Italian Fritata was a delicious mix of flavors of egg, mushrooms, cheese, and italian sausage. It came with hasbrowns underneath which were buttery with the right amount of crunch. The homemade corned beef was hearty and filling.

Came in one Friday Alex was our server. Funny man. Always looking forward to ordering from the specials menu. I got my usual liver and onions with a couple slices of bacon on top the liver oh my goodness so good. They also had prime rib on special on Friday. I saw a gentleman down the way order it in the almost 2 inches thick oh man that looks good. Made me want to choose again. Well worth your money you get what you pay for and then some. Food is always solid. Can’t wait to come back.

On a Saturday morning only one waitress working. No one greater us, we didn’t know if we should seat ourselves. The place is just dirty, sticky tables and chairs, dingy silverware left sitting on the table. Rough crowd, a bunch of bikers filled the place shortly after we arrived. Ordered an omelet special $ 12 for the driest(yes dry!) omelet with bacon Avacado and cheddar. Never received the toast that was supposed to come with the meal. The orange juice earned them the one star. Ohh and IT’S CASHONLY… they need to update the entire place, it’s 2015 people!!!

Sat the counter… and waited and waited. Waitress was so swamped, I didn’t get my water for ten minutes. She ran around helping other people that just sat down… really? We waited an hour and didn’t get our food. The person next to me got his food which he ordered after us. I complained and the waitress gave us a lame excuse and said that it depends on what we ordered. Seriously, I ordered French toast??? Needless to say, this was our first time here and I wasn’t impressed. How do these people stay in business! We will never come here again! Lucky we even paid for our coffee before waking out! Unilocal, you should have a zero star option! Should have just went to Camino Corner on El Camino instead…

Not good on a hot day unless all the fans are running. Nice service by the Asian server. The other server ignored is completely from the moment we walked in. Actually looked at us and turned away. ??? Chicken deluxe sandwich with onion rings Crab Louie salad — lots of crab! Side of rice Cup of fresh fruit. Good food and good portions. Small local diner. Unfortunately, it was so hot, it was hard to enjoy our time there. We ate quickly and left. Not their fault.

Small little diner like place. Came here for brunch one morning because I heard it was a good place for waffles, and I heard right! Their waffles are pretty big in size and perfectly made. Just the right texture. This place is cash only though!

Behind the spurious claims to being the best in the West is an honest attempt to make good at an American burger. Under the pall of confused and convoluted 90s décor, is a good old-fashioned diner with a proper focus on taste. Expect standard laminated trifold menus with meager text and minimal pictures and a white board specialty menu that’s more apt for a hole-in-the-wall establishment. Also, make a cameo at your banks ATM as Big Joe is one the few last standing eateries that only deals in cash. Or hit their left-of-the-entrance ATM that incites fear and skepticism at a whopping $ 2.50 per transaction. As disappointing as that may be, these inconsistencies are leniently forgiven by time the check comes. The execution of the Big Joe Burger was flawless with a view to being superlative. The orange-sliced avocado was the idyllic counter to the exaggerated thicks cuts of tomato. The patty(which I ordered to be well-done) was well seasoned, rotund, juicy and just that, well done. The dill was crisp and the lettuce was modest. The bacon needs no explanation, and the wide cut fries reconciled the entire plate. It was a $ 10 happy place. The service was friendly and the conversation, light. Applebee’s, Chili’s, TGIF can ride shotgun while Big Joe takes the wheel. Big Joe etches his groove in the wooden mantle of bonafide burger joints. I recommend this establishment.
