Big disappointment this evening. They had a special on their large beef brisket sandwich. It was tasteless and their bbq sauce didn’t help it much. The sides weren’t much better. Bland green beans and burnt, greasy onion tanglers were sad.

Good bbq around here is hard to find maybe I am spoiled to Owensboro KY bbq. I stopped in on my way home from work which was a convenient location however the food must have been prepared for the lunch crowd because it was dry and cold. I was really hoping for good bbq. Food was nothing special and the wait was long.

I went there with a coworker after work one day and thought this place was pretty good. it was a little pricey but it was good. I wasnt mad that we decided to go here. I got the brisket and it was pretty tinder, tasty. My coworker got the ribs which were a little tough but non the less they were pretty good as well. I will however; not get the baked beans again. I was not a fan, less than flavorful. Overall, this place is what it is. You dont go to a fast food styler BBQ joint and expect to get the best BBQ you‘ve ever had. I would recommend this place to anyone who needs their BBQ fix in a hurry.

Really great experience. The daily specially is by far the way to go. Definitely a good deal. The free ice cream is a solid touch too. Definitely will be back.

Good food, fair prices. Kids eat free on Sundays and ice cream is always free. Btw the pic is after I had eaten half my meal.

The meat is great. The service is not. The manager is not equipped to speak to food allergies(i.e. gluten) and uses phrases like«I think» and«it may». FYI– their Mac and cheese is NOTGF no matter what the manager says. # clueless

Stopped in for the 1st time yesterday. Staff was friendly and answered all my questions patiently. I was able to order immediately. Clean atmosphere. I ordered the beef brisket, potato casserole and green beans with bacon. The beef brisket was a little dry, but delicious. I’ve never tasted their sauces before so I got the original recipe. Very tasty — has a kick. My only complaint if any is their ice/ice water tastes funny from the machine and I had to add salt to my beans because they were bland. I would recommend eating here. Is it the best barbecue place? No — but if you’re in the mood for barbecue and have nowhere else to go, good place.

Meh, it was just okay. The food was okay, just not anything special. There are plenty of barbeque options without going to a chain restaurant where they try to balance how little they can give with how much they can charge. When I got home, I created my own farting pit.

This place was great on Sunday, We fed our kids for free! It isn’t the best bbq in the country but here in Ohio it works for a Sunday afternoon.(especially since did I mention? Kids ate free!). It’s a change from the usual, we liked it.

We stopped in for lunch on a Sunday afternoon. The place was pretty busy, there was a line to order, but not lined up completely out the door. We each ordered the 2 meat plate so we could each sample their meats. We both ended up choosing the pulled pork and brisket after being able to sample the brisket and the jalapeño sausage. For sides I opted for fried onion tanglers and creamy cole slaw and my boyfriend ordered the mac n cheese and waffle fries. By far our favorites were the fried onion tanglers and the waffle fries(although you do not need to add any additional salt to either). As far as the meat goes, our plates could not have been more different. His brisket was tender and his pulled pork was shredded perfectly and had virtually no fat. My brisket was dry and my pulled pork was almost all fat, so much so, that I threw a majority of it away. We both ordered«the bug yellow cup» for drinks, which if you want a drink, that is what you get — it is not really a special, you get to keep the cup. We did see people throwing these away… This seems like like a huge waste to me both cost wise and environmentally wise. We opted to take ours home… they are good for outside cups. I will say another big negative for us is that they were out of ice — I am a huge ice person — I like a lot of ice in my drink and they had no ice whatsoever. We were told that they were completely out and we would have to wait for the machine to make it(Coke fountain/ice in one combo). That is a problem all in itself. The machine does not reproduce quick enough when it is in full use as it was on this day and Dickey’s had no backup plan for getting ice for the the restaurant full of customers. So multiple people were complaining. As a final note, you do get a free vanilla ice cream cone as a ending to your meal. However, that did not make up for how the rest of the meal went for how much we paid.

Eh, I’m on the fence about this place. The line is better, now that they have been open for a while and the location in Mason has opened. However, it still moves slow because of how they pass people through the line, as others have mentioned. The food is alright… some days are better than others… dry vs. moist, good flavor vs. bland. That could be because of it being a fairly recent opening, but I would think a chain as large as this would have a pretty good formula. Use this much spice, cook for X hours, store this way, etc. My issues have mainly been due to service, and these were definitely not due to growing pains. The first hiccup was a month or so ago when we dined in. I ordered my food(plate & sides) and the hubby placed his(sandwich & side). Somehow, someway they totally forgot to make my husband’s sandwich. And since they take your meat/sandwich order and then push you down to the sides and cash register people no one picked up that they forgot it. When we stepped up to pay and there was no sandwich, you would think the lady at the register was asking the line people to perform brain surgery they looked so confused. You forgot to make the sandwich, pause what you’re doing and make the darn thing. She had to explain the situation to each person on the line. We eventually got what we ordered and sat and ate. And now we get to yesterday. Now, let me preface that they did refund the entire amount of my purchase based on the e-mail I received, still need to verify that it hit my bank account but I will take them at their word since it seems to be an automated process. I placed an online order for pick-up at 6:25 and was told it would be ready at 6:45. We arrived at the restaurant pretty much on time and went to the cash register. First issue… no dedicated pick-up register. You have to somehow weave your way between people ordering at the restaurant. As we are waiting for our opportunity to «merge», I get a call from a number I don’t recognize… it is now 6:50, 5 minutes after we were supposed to pick up our food. When we finally get our chance at the register, I am almost certain they hadn’t even made our food yet based on the fact that I did not see a to-go bag ready with our order. The shift lead comes over and says something like«Well I just tried to call you to tell you that we’re out of baked potatoes, I just pushed the last one through the line». Erm… when our order came in, shouldn’t the food have been started and that potato have been set aside? I mentioned that I just got his call and we were already here and it was already after the food should have been ready. He said there was nothing he could do and did we want something to replace it? The hubby was ticked and said forget it, just give us a refund for the potato(to order online, you can prepay with a credit card). That was when we learned that apparently neither that shift lead nor who I think was the manager could do the refund. I had to wait for the owner to process it at a later time. My husband changed his mind and said he wanted ribs so we got those. And then the manager said«Didn’t you have tea?». And I replied that we had ordered a gallon. We then had to wait for him to fill up the gallon… again shouldn’t this have been ready at the stated pick-up time? So for the order that was supposed to be ready at 6:45, we didn’t leave there until after 7. And in the scrambling to put our order together, they forgot the roll that came with my salad. Thankfully the hubby did not want his. I don’t think we’ll be back to this location. We may try the store in Mason, but if it is no better we may just go back to City Q.

Stopped for some dinner on the way to Louisville. Certainly better than most things you’ll get on a highway exit, but you’ll pay for it. About $ 9 for a BBQ chicken sandwich and a tiny side salad. Good good, satisfying, and there’s free soft-serve ice cream. Not a bad pick if you’re on the road!

Took 15 minutes to order with only 2 people in front of us when we went in the door. The«Brandon» behind the counter was apparently having a bad day — «what do you want» was the greeting. When my wife answered«I’ll have the two meat platter». His next words were«meats»? He proceeded to smash the meat she ordered on the countertop, no — he didn’t shread or pull it apart — he smashed it. Behind the counter there was another employee pulling large transparent bags of a gooey yellowish substance from a pot of hot water — not appetizing at all. The servings of sides only half filled the side containers. My wife’s platter was missing the roll. Food quality was equally poor. The«green beans and bacon» didn’t have one morsel of bacon. The jalapeño beans had no jalapeños and tasted like they just added chili powder to the regular beans, the potato salad had so much dill that I couldn’t finish it. The meats are served on a metal platter with a paper liner that quickly becomes part of your meal as the moisture from the meal saturates and shreds the paper. The baked potato casserole had no flavor. No barbecue joints in the area should have any worries about losing business to this place. I know we won’t go back!

How much food do you people need? Sheesh. Yes it is pretty pricey, and I’d imagine Dickey’s faring way better somewhere Downtown than in South Lebanon. I don’t blame the place for having steep prices; meat costs sooooooo much these days. I had the brisket and it wasn’t dry at all. The roll is super chewy and its carb-lovers heaven. the brisket falls apart because it’s so tender, and with the unlimited amount of barbeque available, I could eat that for days. Their mac & cheese & onion tangler sides(oh my gosh those onion tanglers) are so good. I probably shaved off five years off my life with that amount of cholesterol in one sitting, but it was definitely worth it. My boyfriend and I had our bill come to nearly $ 30(we also got two drinks), but we also left ridiculously stuffed. Maybe a price of about 12 a person would’ve been more worth it. It would’ve also helped if there were less pricey fountain soda options. Other than that, service was friendly, speedy enough(its not FAST food but it moves along). There’s also free soft serve(I couldn’t try it because I was super full). tl;dr Well-cooked meat, a bit pricey but understandable. Holy shoot I’d go out of my way for those onion tanglers seriously.

Food is bland. Servings are too small. Service is slow. There was only 1 customer in front of me and it took her 5 minutes to choose her order. There were 4 people behind the counter, one a manager. All 4 of them stood there and did nothing while the lady was making her decision. None of the four even looked at me, let alone ask me for my order. I finally ordered 2 of the daily specials for take out. Both included drinks, but they only gave me 1 cup. Prices are too high.

My wife & I got the 3 meat plate(which comes with two sides) intending to split it between us for $ 13.75. The meats were the brisket, pulled pork and Polish sausage… The sides what were the barbecue beans and baked potato casserole. All three meats were tasty, moist and thoroughly enjoyed. The major problem with the meats were the serving size, they were appetizer sized portions. We will definitely try this again but next time only single servings for each one of us.

Expensive!!! Not enough food for the money. I did not like any of the sauces. The pulled pork was tender and juicy. The brisket was also tender and juicy. Waffle fries were good, mashed potato casserole was good, mac n cheese was creamy, green beans had too much onion. Ribs were ok… kinda fatty. I would rather go to City BBQ anytime! I would also rather drive further to Damons!

We were in the area today so we stopped by the famed Dickey’s to eat lunch. First of all there is a line out the door. At first you think it’s because they are sooooo busy but in reality it’s because they are poorly run. It’s kind of like Chipotle. you tell the first person your meat choices, the next person your sides then another person your drinks and you pay. For some reason this takes entirely too long. It took use 4 minutes to get just the sides dished out. I know how long it took because my daughter is type 1 diabetic and her CGM alarm was going off because her blood sugar was low. In all we waited in line 20 minutes, paid $ 30 then hunted for a seat. There is not enough seating here. We ended up wedged next to the drink station with everyones butts in our faces. So onto the food. we each got a 2 meat tray so we could sample. I got brisket and turkey and my child got cheddar sausage and pulled pork. My first problem with the meat was that it all needed sauce to be eaten. Good BBQ shouldn’t NEED sauce. The brisket was cut in a huge slab and was so dry the plastic knives they have broke trying to cut it. They turkey was ice cold. This is an issue since it was taken out of the hot box right in front of me. It makes me wonder if the health department has tested the temperature of the hot box. The sausage was also cold. So cold the cheese was congealed and it was like chewing fat. Finally the pulled pork… ahhhh yes… or should I call it the pulled pork with bones in it. My daughter bit into 3 pieces of bones. Thankfully her teeth were not injured. Perhaps if skippy wasn’t hacking at the pork with a huge knife and pulling it(it is called pulled pork) there wouldn’t be the issue of bones. Finally the sides… I got green beans with bacon. They were ok. no bacon was spotted though. We also got potato salad which tasted like mayo with dill. They had no flavor unless you got a piece of dill. The best part of the meal was the mac and cheese and I am sad to say. it’s not made there but rather comes out of a bag. This meal was inedible. We came home and ate a snack after we left there because we could not eat most of it. For $ 30 I should not need a snack afterwards. I am not sure what food people who rave about this place are getting but we won’t be back. I would rather drive to Centerville and eat at City Barbeque for half the price and get food that is at least good.

Stopped in for a surprisingly long wait. There were only 3 people in front of me. 1 pound of each brisket and pork to go. The brisket was burned and dry. The pork was really good. The place was just super messy. They were out of the hot bbq sauce and just wouldn’t get around to filling it. Even a free soft serve cone doesn’t make me want to go back

I have now discovered the second-worst BBQ in Ohio. Wow, what a disaster. Now I know they’ve only been open about a week, but sadly, the issues I take with Dickey’s have nothing to do with«working out the kinks during opening week.» Let me list my problems: 1. While waiting in line, I was openly being checked out by one of the guys on the line. He smiled at me repeatedly, stared at me while taking other peoples’ order, and was super-friendly when taking mine. «What can I get for you today, ma’am?» followed by a dry, «and you?» to my husband behind me. We got a huge kick out of it, it was so obvious. 2. The cups Dickey’s gives for drinks are bright yellow plastic cups that state they’re a «souvenir» on the side. I’m not really one for having restaurant souvenir cups as my glassware at home, which means I had two plastic cups that got thrown out. What a horrendously eco-unfriendly practice! 3. The food. I can’t even begin to describe my disappointment. I ordered the 1 meat plate with their brisket, potato salad, and friend okra, and my husband selected the 2 meat plate with brisket, pulled pork, BBQ beans, and coleslaw. I had to load my meat with their BBQ sauce(mediocre at best) to try to get any moisture to it, and there were chunks of it that I couldn’t even eat, they were so dry. Brisket should be tender, and this stuff shredded along the grain like tough, overbaked Sunday pot roast. At no point did I taste any smokiness in the meat either. The potato salad was nothing but mayo, some potato chunks, and dill. I think there may have been a piece of celery in it… maybe… The okra was nice and crispy and perfectly fried, but it was so bland, I could only eat half the order. My husband salvaged his beans with some of the spicy BBQ sauce, but he declared he’d had better coleslaw from KFC. I’ve had better sides from the Kroger deli for a fraction of the cost. 4. The prices. With the food listed above and two sweet teas(which, I might add, were also meh) our tab came to over $ 34.00. I was beyond disgusted with how much I had to pay for the poor quality of food. 5. The atmosphere. I don’t mind an exposed kitchen… at a nice restaurant or pizza parlor. I really don’t need to see the inner workings of a kitchen that’s nothing but industrial fryers and a grease-spattered heat lamp over the carving station. The vibe of the place felt like a Hardees in 1987. Sadly, Dickey’s is nothing but an over-priced fast food joint that wants to complete with places like City Barbeque. It can’t. If you can’t find a mom and pop BBQ joint, stick with City BBQ for a much better chain experience. And in case you’re wondering, the only worse BBQ I’ve had in the state was at Werner’s in Jeffersonville. I certainly won’t be giving Dickey’s a second shot, it was so disappointing.
