Wow. What overpriced garbage! Panda Express would have made better food! The chow mein we ordered was bland and oily. The Korean bbq short ribs were tough and disgusting. Not to mention the service! The waitress was rude and not accommodating. The $ 15 cocktails were made cheaply and served in a beer glass! I did complain to the waitress about the terrible food and she said that she was gonna get her manager to come over. I don’t think the waitress actually told her manager because I waited a while and had to have one of the bus girls get the manager. Once I told the bus girl, the manager came right over. I will give the manager props. She was absolutely apologetic and listened to my complaints and seemed to be receptive. She ended up comping our meal and only charging us for drinks. I do appreciate that since we barely ate the dishes. It’s the manager that earned the 3 stars I am giving this place. She was amazing. Had it not been her efforts, this review would have received 1 star. PS: I see other Unilocalers complaining about the surly older Chinese waitress and I am pretty sure we got the same one.

Had a great dinner Saturday & our server was very friendly. I preferred the Chinese food over the sushi but I would definitely go back.

Way overpriced and the quality of their food has gone way downhill. For some reason, people flock to this restaurant and the hostess always freaks out when you don’t have a reservation. I guess it’s because of the lack of options in the area. Portions are small. We usually order fried rice and it barely feeds four adults. The sushi is also not that great. Service is hit or miss. The surly older Chinese woman isn’t too friendly, but the white lady is cool. Sorry, I call it how I see it. I think this place tries too hard to stay authentic but also attempts to appease to wealthy folks.

I came to this place with my grandparents as they received a voucher for a certain amount to dine here since they were guests of the hotel. It’s located in the 2nd or 3rd floor of the hotel and it’s pretty«upscale» since it’s not a buffet and the setting is more formal that the other types of hotel dining options nearby. We ordered wonton soup, chow fun, honey walnut prawns, Mongolian beef and one other dish. Overall the service was very good and the food tasted fresh but it wasn’t the best. For the price you pay you would think the portions would be bigger or the food should be AMAZING, but it’s just mediocre. It’s not a bad addition but I don’t think we would go again or ever if we didn’t have a voucher. Some of their fusion items like the sushi just didn’t seem appealing being Japanese and in a «Chinese» restaurant. It was a good experience but probably won’t be back.

Not a review of the food. This lady at the front tried to pull one of those«do you have reservations» when the restaurant was basically empty and told us we can only sit at the bar when we said we didn’t.

Expect to pay quadruple for very mediocre food. I heard it’s the best Chinese place in town though. You know you really shouldn’t be eating Asian food when you’re at Lake Tahoe.

Okay service, and food is great, not heavy/oily tasting. Out of the«mainstream» Tahoe restaurants, I feel like you get what you paid for. Just sucks that they advertise that they are open until 9:30/10 yet they wouldn’t serve me at 8:59 on my second visit… :( Also, ordered the Dungeness crab, only to find out that they«ran out», it was very early dinner on a Saturday, they should have let me know instead of giving me attitude when I was not sure what to order 10 minutes after they took my order and I had no menu in front of me…

From my initial impression the hostess was extremely scatterbrained. She showed us a table and walked away without a word. The waitress is not very available, but when she was at our table, she answered all of our questions and brought our drink orders out fairly quickly. We ordered potstickers for our appetizer and was delighted with how tasty they were. The sauce was sweet but it didn’t overpower the flavor of the potsticker. I was super excited to see chow fun on their menu since I was craving it. I would order the chow fun again if I went back. With ordering two meals and an appetizer, we had leftovers.

9 of us had dinner last night. The restaurant is very nice and the service was friendly and great. We started with the shrimp egg rolls(great), edamame(great), honey pork(very good) and one person got the wonton soup(he loved it). For dinner, we decided to try multiple things family style. A lot of things were great and some average. However, we didn’t feel like anything really blew us away. We had spicy shrimp and eggplant(spicy and delicious), chicken with black bean hot pot(very good), Mongolian beef(ok), chicken chow mein(great), beef chow fun(very good), fried rice(eh… Not enough flavor).

Go anywhere else! This place is gross! Whatever you do, don’t sit at the sushi bar and watch them cook your food :(. Had the ‘filet’= not a filet. Not sure what it was. But it was a purplish color. Servers were not educated on the menu.

Way over priced for the quality of food. We ordered the shrimp tempura roll which came with about 8 pieces but there were 3 rolls that did not have any shrimp! Mostly veggies and rice. Very disappointing! We also ordered the half crispy chicken, which was $ 19 but I think the chicken they cooked was mal nourished! There was no meat on this chicken. Mostly skin and bones! Overall the service was great and the venue super nice! Just very disappointed in the food. I Will never return.

Starting with my regular 3-star base. (-1) Mango walnut prawn — i felt like the prawns were drowned in a mayo-like sauce (-1) Chefs fried rice — was supposed to have seafood, was very underwhelming when the dish was brought out with tiny pieces of seafood(think the size of a boba ball) (+1) Beef chow fun — this was the only one that was worth it to me. (+1) kind of pricey, kind of cheesy, very polite staff though. Who serves sushi at a Chinese food place? I feel like sushi chefs are dying a little on the inside.

We ate here after seeing a concert… and enjoyed it. The place was full on a Saturday night around 9:30 at night — some Asian high rollers; date night people; and others. We looked over the menu — they have Asian food — both Chinese and Japanese rolls and sushi. We thought the prices on the Chinese menu were 2 to 3X what we would pay at a a high quality Asian restaurant in the San Jose/Palo Alto area — so opted to go with the Japanese roll menu which was reasonably priced. Food was very good. and we enjoyed our dinner and drinks. Nice place in the South Lake Tahoe Area. We did see people getting the Chinese dinners as well — food looked good and generous portions. All in all — a nice Asian restaurant with good service and enjoyable atmosphere. Its on the 2nd floor of the casino — up a set of escalators from the first floor casino floor.

2.5 stars for this Expensive Casino Chinese Restaurant. If it wasn’t for a friend’s bday dinner, I would not have chosen to eat here. Nor will I eat here ever again… unless it’s a special occasion or something and was dragged. P.F Changs is cheaper than this place! This place has a P.F. Chang’s style atmosphere at Steak House prices. Crazy! Dishes/Main Entrees are over $ 20 each. Appetizers were $ 12 or more and a cup of Wor Wonton was $ 9?!? I’m from Sacramento, where Chinese Restaurants are a dime a dozen. Every other place has a $ 6.95-$ 9.95 an entrée price point. It’s not like they imported the ingredients from anywhere special or anything so I can’t understand why it would cost so much. We ordered: 3 appetizer sized BBQ pork(3 because the serving size for everything was small), Fried Rice, 2 white rice(to mix with the fried rice to make more rice), Kung Pao Chicken, and a cup of Wor Wonton soup for $ 96 not including tip. Ther service was good and so was the food, but not worth it at all!

Wife said let’s go to the«Nude» bar. I said, Yea OK Let’s Go. When we arrived it was the«Noodle» bar… almost, right? Well it still turned out to be a good night. Order the Pan Fried Noodles & Seafood and the Scallop [Porridge] Congee. Exceeding expectations: In all honesty, this is genuine Chinese food made by certified Southern Chinese people. This isn’t an Americanized knock-off of Chinese cuisine, this is the real deal Cantonese. Everything else Asian in Lake Tahoe is second best.

We were pleasantly surprised by the quality and taste of the food within Gi Fu Loh. We sort of expected since it was in a casino that it would have a more PF Chang’s feel to it. Instead we were happy to see that it was closer to traditional food which we had hoped for. The service was great, the food was great, the prices reasonable, the drinks… meh.

Décor is nice, and definitely makes a strong attempt at upscale. However, again, the price here is borderline ridiculous. Good food, but not good enough to warrant the price. A bowl of sweet and sour soup was nearly $ 10 dollars and the dishes range from $ 20-$ 30 dollars for the average goodies. I eat a lot in Arcadia and am very familiar w/what I consider good Chinese food. Gi Fu Loh is good, it’s about as good as average in Arcadia, which is saying a lot because of the quality of restaurants in that area. However, you’re looking at a price range that is over 5-times(FIVE!) the cost of traditional Chinese restaurants in the SOCAL area… I mean, I don’t get it, Tahoe isn’t an island where these ingredients have to be imported, haha. The service is good, our server was very attentive and our food came out quick. There’s actually a scary«BOSS» looking guy who oversees everything, he actually cracked a smile w/me so I’ll definitely give a +1 for that! Go to Gi Fu Loh if you absolutely HAVE to have traditional Chinese food, otherwise, go to the Buffet there at Harrah’s and get the fried rice there for your FIX. I can’t imagine going here ever again w/the buffet in such close proximity!
