We stayed for two nights and when we arrived the owner told us he had upgraded us to the Cottage and we were thrilled initially when we saw that we had a large sitting room with kitchen and dining table. The bathroom was huge with a large tub. However as we walked in the place was sweltering and the owner casually said Oh I suppose I should have put the ac on! We were a party of three and they had put a single bed in the living room which was fine but it was directly in front of the one small ac unit almost completely blocking out any cool air. We had to pull the bed out but the room never really cooled down properly and we had to go outside where there was a nice cool breeze. Mid July and red hot with one inadequate ac unit was not good believe me! We had gone up for a function and had no transportation(took the Hampton Jitney which was great value and meant that as out of towners we did not have to face the Long Island Freeeway that was nightmarish). There was no breakfast included, no vending machine where we could get cold drinks and although there was a fitted kitchen there was no coffee… not even a couple of little sachets. We had no choice but to drink the tap water after our bottled water quickly ran out. It is in a lovely spot but there is nothing within walking distance… the nearest deli was a five minute drive and luckily another guest gave us a ride there the next morning to get breakfast. The accomodation was spacious but very bare and basic. Not a single print on the wall and the bedding was old and tatty. Plenty of towels but they were old and thin. The shower was ridiculous… a huge bathroom but the tiniest corner shower that flooded the floor. I am a medium size but my larger friend could only just get in. No extras like shampoo etc and no ac in the bathroom which was stuffy, hot and uncomfortable. On a better note the food in the restaurant was reasonably priced and good. The shrimp cocktail was really good and there is delicious free hot bread with butter and roast garlic with the meal. I had a grilled chicken sandwich with roasted red peppers that was good and huge. I took half away with me. Service was good. The owner that we had read about and were a bit wary of was fine and chatted while we had a drink, but no one is on site after the restaurant is closed so in any type of emergency you are on your own. Housekeeping had not made the single bed and by chance I checked before we went out otherwise we would have arrived back late to a bare matress and comforter only. The next day the lady came in and tidied up … too well as she threw away our return flight information that we had left on the coffee table! I have tried to be fair and have talked about the good the bad and the ugly. He upgraded us from a $ 200 a night room to one about $ 100 a night more and for that kind of money it was a poor show. No hairdryer or iron, just the bare over hot room in a beautiful location. If you are going there for a vacation spend a bit more and get something better. We were there for a function and so it served its purpose… but only just.

As of late 2014, this place has closed. Located a stone’s throw from Peconic Bay, this is a bit of a hidden place that serves wonderful food. The menu is extensive and will please seafood lovers and landlubbers alike. The salads– whether for a lunchtime meal or a starter for dinner are use a nice mix of seasonal ingredients from fresh figs to pomegranates. If you can, save room for dessert. In the warmer weather you can sit on the porch. In the winter, a fireplace adds to the warmth. And the service? It is always attentive and helpful.

Have been to Bayview house many times and we are never disappointed. Warm mozzarella is served as a blob of oozing goodness, And the Veal chop is hard to beat

I’m a «local» and a regular at Bayview. Chef Tom Lopez’s food is great, and having tried everything on the menu through all four seasons, I have never been disappointed. Much better than some highly touted restaurants nearby. They make a good drink too. Great food in a nice peaceful setting. Check it out.

Excellent restaurant, always good, never disappoints! The hanger steak is phenomenal. The drinks are a little pricy, but I usually only have one so it’s not so bad. I have to add I read one of the filtered reviews and the comment was that they complained something was bad and the owner said they couldn’t believe it. LOL I had the same experience, I complained about something and a woman came out and justified my complaint(the service had been slow and my companion got her food before me). It annoyed me but I’ve been back because overall my experience has been good, and I gave it 5 stars. As a real estate agent, I have to say the owners should maybe develope a little«people» skills and simply say acknowledge the diner may have had an unfortunate occurence, they understand and invite them back saying they hope next time it’s more enjoyable. Just my 2 cents having dealt with MANY difficult people. You catch more flies with honey.. ..

Just finished a fantastic meal with family and friends. Almost too stuffed to type. I had a cool tuna tartar dish that was different than I expected, but still very tasty. Entrée was a locally raised duck that sacrificed itself for a good cause. I didn’t try anyone else’s food, but the whole table had nothing but positive things to say about the meal. The wine list was predominantly, but not exclusively, local North Fork wines — which was cool. Our friends say they eat here frequently and the food is consistently good. Based on the meal tonight, I’ll be back then.
