This is my first visit to Virginia Southern Spoon. My overall experience was a good one. I showed up at 10:30am, so it was breakfast time. Lunch starts at 11:00am. The wait staff is friendly, however the kid I got looked a little overwhelmed and under trained. I’ll let that slide since this place is new and so is he probably. I ordered the Spoons Big Breakfast which came with two eggs, one sausage patty, three pieces of bacon, potatoes, two pancakes and either french toast or a waffle. I ordered my eggs scrambled and they were cooked perfectly. The bacon wasn’t as crispy as I like, but it still had a crunch to it. The sausage patty had good flavor and so did the potatoes that had grilled onions in them. The french toast was very bland. It had a slight cinnamon flavor, but all in all wasn’t that great. The pancakes had a strange taste to them, which I thought at first was the syrup I put on them, but it wasn’t. They were moist and cooked well however I did not care for them. The price was reasonable for the portions I received and I would recommend this place to others for breakfast. I will post again when I try their lunch food. I give this place three stars for being clean, the staff friendly and the food being perfectly acceptable… So far. EDIT: Confirmed, its my waiters second day on the job.
