I hadn’t been here in years. The last time I came I found a long black hair with my phone noodles. Yuck! we came in because my brother enjoys this place and he was going to bring my parents. Went into the restroom and as I came out I saw two roaches. This was after we were done paid and ready to go. If we are going to drive to eat, it may not be here again.

My god! What happened to this place?! It used to be my go-to spot for phở and now it’s gone downhill so badly. I walked in here with my mom for lunch and there wasn’t a customer in sight. We were seated at a booth and ordered our usual seafood phở and egg rolls but nothing tasted the same anymore. The phở was so watered down and they started skimping on the amount of meat and ingredients they used to add inside. The crispy fried egg rolls are now stale and tasted old. We didn’t even bother finishing it after taking a couple bites. Overall, everything tasted off and I don’t think I’ll be coming back, especially since there’s so many other phở options nearby.

Came in at 430 on Friday. The place was empty. Got the phở special combo(#17), the broth had tons of msg and barely got any steak, or anything for that matter. No tendon or tripe. The free small drink was nice though. On to the next one!

This place has really dropped in quality since the last time I visited a few years ago. This was my family’s favorite place to go eat Com Tom as they had very fresh dishes and awesome service. This time our meal was very mediocre and I don’t know if it was just in my head because the food was bad, but I got sick after the meal and… let’s just say I saw the meal twice that night. The rice was dry, the egg cake tasted a bit sour, the pork chop the tough, and the egg rolls was extremely over fried. Even my other family members were very disappointed in the quality of the food. I think the place may have changed owners because I don’t recognize the same staff. Overall. I would avoid this place if you are looking for some good Vietnamese food. There are plenty of other restauants in the area. Look elsewhere.

Great service. Best phở broth I’ve had in a very long time. I frequent the spot. Free drink. Love getting that dessert cup to go after. They’re great with my son. It’s never too busy. Booths by the windows. Parking is whatevers though.

Love this place so far! They serve good portioned authentic Vietnamese dishes at very inexpensive prices. For a picky Viet chick like me, it’s hard to find a Vietnamese restaurant that I end up liking around here. Service is casual but fairly friendly and they offer free drinks!

16 North Vietnam Beef Phở was what I ordered here when I dine out with my friend. Unlike regular phở that you can get every where, the phở here taste different in a good way. I guess that’s because it is the north Vietnam style than the south Vietnam style. Not too sure about it. However, it is worth the driving when I am craving for a good phở.

I’ve eaten here since I was a child and it’s always been very satisfying. They have changed owners, use to be my favorite phở place but now they soups a bit oily. Still a go to place with my grandma though! She loves it there.

This place is totally suck! I hate it! They tried to rip me off! They do not honor the price on their menu! I really hate it when they tried to do that!!! I ordered a coconut jelly for 4 dollars and they brought out the check for 6 dollars! Will never come back again! The end

I came in here for a small dinner before heading to 626 Night Market and it wasn’t one of the best restaurants I’ve been to. The plate I ordered was a some type of fried mein with seafood. It was a large platter, but a little too big for one person. It was a good fried mein with seafood though. Supposedly you get some type of free drink with one plate that you order. Or each person. I couldn’t quite understand the waitress because she was speaking in Vietnamese. I got a Thai tea which not one of the best or good at all. It was very liquidy and the taste was just water with maybe a faint taste of Thai tea.

3.5 stars. Came here after a hike at Eaton Canyon with my family and boyfriend. We ordered the egg rolls to start and everyone got a bowl of phở. The egg rolls weren’t that great. One was burnt and the flavor was kind of too fishy. The phở here on the other hand is delicious! The broth is super flavorful and the portions are huge. The price is on point here too with a bowl running you between 5 and 6 dollars. If you dine-in you even get a free drink. Options include thai tea, and pennyworth leaf, among a couple others. I had to try the pennyworth leaf drink for my curiosity’s sake and it tasted like drinking spinach. It has a strong green color and depending on whether you like that leafy taste this drink will be a hit or a miss. Although I really enjoyed my phở I thought the service here was really poor. We were denied extra bean sprouts/add-ins for our phở and they charge 50 cents for a glass of water. Not sure how the logic on that one works out as they’ll give you a free drink with your meal but charge you for water? It just seemed like they were being a little stingy which I understand times are hard, but as a customer it’s not the best feeling as far as service goes. Anyway, this place is cash only. The food is legit but some of the little things like having a cleaner bathroom and their water charge policy could use some work. Tasty, tasty phở.

I wouldn’t have known about this hidden gem if not for Shanon Y. I wasn’t even hungry and ended up eating a huge bowl of noodle soup. I cheated and had an egg roll. It was fried to perfection and tasted awesome. It comes with tons of vegetables for you to wrap your egg rolls in. The best part was my seafood noodle soup. The broth has such amazing flavor. They also gave us a lot of lime and I added sugar and fish sauce and their special chili paste. The whole dish was amazing. They give you a large portion for cheap. I couldn’t even eat half of the noodle in my bowl but the broth was so good that I drank all the soup. The service is great and the restaurant is pretty quiet so the food comes out fast.

My company loves ordering take out for lunch from this place. So this review is strictly for the food. Phở, If it’s about the broth, then they got it on lock. Delicious broth, well prepared noodles, fresh herbs and sprouts, tender meats… its Asian soul food! The rice plate, They give you humongous portions for what you pay for these rice plates. Most of them are about $ 5-$ 6 Really can’t go wrong with this place. Probably best bang for the buck around town(in South El Monte). Maybe I’ll actually eat at the restaurant someday. Maybe…

I’ve been a customer for almost my whole life, so I admit to a bit of savory bias. My Hanh is located in a rustic Asian-themed plaza(it literally looks like a Buddhist temple with red columns and curved roofing) with decent parking. Their specialty in my opinion are the soup-based options, especially the phở. The broth itself makes it one of the strongest tasting phở I’ve had.(Being Chinese Vietnamese, I’ve had quite a few.) For me, the broth is the most important component of a phở and My Hanh gets it done right. Unfortunately, that’s the best part of their phos. They skimp on the meat compared to other places. Especially on their to-go orders of phở. So if you want a fair portion of meat compared to taking out food here, eat in, my friend.(The phở bowl size itself is pretty generous, both regular and large.) At least you’ll get a free drink if you eat-in! It’s a limited drink menu, but hey, free of charge is good enough for me. I do have to give them props on their fresh veggies that come with most of the meals. Especially with the bun ja yo, or vermicelli(rice noodle) with veggies and meat. This is another specialty of theirs. I usually get the one with fried egg rolls(some of the best rolls I’ve had) and grilled pork pieces. Delish. But as with the phở, the portion size can be limiting for some big eaters. To sum up, My Hanh has quality tasting food, but portions can be lacking. None-the-less I’d pick this over the nearby Phở Filet any day. Phở Filet’s bowls are smaller and the taste doesn’t even make up for it! For the more carnivorous, go to Viet Huong, several blocks East on Garvey. Their broth isn’t as good as My Hanh’s(it’s getting there though), but man, do they pile on the beef slices. Yum! Update: Forgot to mention that the service is typical of most Viet restaurants in that it’s no nonsense(unless you’re local friend/favored customer): Get in, eat, pay, get out. Latest update: 3÷21÷13 I downgraded this place from 4 star to 3. The quality of phở from my childhood is no more. The soup is now diluted and the meat scarce in the beef phở. I go down the block to Viet Huong now for my phở needs. What do they still make best here? Dry noodle vermicelli with the fried egg rolls(even Viet Huong can’t beat that). Stay here for their dry food dishes, but leave if you want a tasty phở.

For starters, it’s conveniently located right next to the barbershop I always go to, so I usually grab a bite to eat right after a haircut. Their nem nuong spring rolls aren’t that great… Mine had too much noodles, not enough nem nuong. For $ 4 for two, it was also a little pricey. They have a deal for free drinks. Not sure if they give refills, I’ve never bothered to ask since they’re free. I typically just order the phở dac biet. The broth is well-made(though the use of MSG is hardly subtle) and they give you a generous amount of tripe, rare beef and noodles. Standard selection of condiments are available, including Sriracha, Hoisin sauce, and chili sauce. Service is quick and friendly. The interior is a bit dirty, but as a place my dad introduced me to when I was a kid, My Hanh has become one of my go-to places for phở, in spite of the closer options nearby, because this place has great food for low prices. Home-cooked phở just can’t really compare to the deliciousness of restaurant MSG-loaded phở. So bad for you, yet so good…
