I liked the ambience of this place. The food was good for the most part, however, I felt like the variety of sushi wasn’t great. 99% of the sushi special rolls have something fried in them, whether it be tempura, completely deep fried, or tempura flakes in them. I wanted to stay away from fried foods and the server said they only have 2 special rolls that don’t have anything fried in or on them. Also, mostly everything has jalapeños too. If you’re not a fan of spicy food, this may not be the place for you for sushi. It’s too expensive for sushi that was mediocre, in my opinion. Also, the server I had came over WAY too often during the meal. He even came over to ask if we wanted anything wrapped up to take home before we finished eating. I might try this place again but not for the sushi.

I am hooked on the St. Charles Roll and Asian Pear martini at Wok n Fire. Great Happy Hour specials too, especially on Wednesday nights. We just tried the Pad Siew with scallops and it was absolutely delicious. Only reason I didn’t rate a 5 is because the place is often not as clean, I.e. sticky tables and menus and messy bathroom. Severs always seem friendly and attentive. I have also had a dirty water glass or two. Clean up better and this place would be a 5 for me.

This used to be my sushi go to spot! While the sushi is amazing and the service was usually great I have to say that the last time my boyfriend and I were there was a huge let down. It was a weekend night, so busy as expected. We were sat out on the patio because that was what was available first. We ordered drinks and then 4 rolls. It started to get really windy out and then just as our rolls arrived to the table it started to rain. The hostess came out and took a group of four in that only had drinks and then never returned. We were the only table around that had our full meal and drinks in front of us and it took at least 5 minutes for someone to offer to move us inside, but before that happened we were informed that they needed to put the umbrella down because of storm coming through. So there we were being forced to stand at our table, drinks in hand while the buss boy put the umbrella down. Looking back we should have just left our plate of 4 fresh rolls out in the rain instead of standing there awkwardly. I was super disappointed that umbrellas came before customers. We haven’t been back since and the only reason I gave 3 stars for this experience is because the sushi is the best around.

I love this place! The décor and interior is really good. The staff is friendly and gave good suggestion for which sushi to try. California rolls were so delicious. Mongolian beef was made just the way we liked. The service was great and we surely are coming here again.

Been to Wok n Fire many times for Happy Hour. Really enjoy the Crab Rangoon and the Yakatori Beef. Don’t bother with the Coconut Shrimp. ALL Coconut and barely any shrimp. It’s too sweet and not worth the price at all. Don’t miss the Mango Cheesecake… it is delicious! Service is hit or miss… this last time was a miss… but I’ll go back. If you use a Groupon expect a little attitude.

Yummmmm me and my friends come in about once a week. You cannot beat their lunch specials it real any of their specials! Every day at wok n fire is a good day. Defiantly check out their website and keep up with their specials. Very clean. Good service. The manager I think has black hair and she’s amazing always checking on us and making sure everything is perfect. I would defiantly recommend this place. Things to know most sushi rolls are made with«crab mix» but for a small up charge you can get real crab.

I went in here yesterday on a Monday for happy hour. Business was a little busier than I believe they had staffed for. I saw the manager Maria greeting some tables to help her bartender and cocktail server and even busing tables to help out her staff all around. Something that is much respected. I also had excellent service from Marissa the bartender. Who makes an incredible cocktail. I’ll be back for the happy hour for sure. Insanely good value and service.

Wok n fire never fails on putting a smile on mine and my daughters face. The menu has alot to offer maki, noodles, amazing specials and cheerful employees who always make you feel at home. Miriam helps to nurture this amazingly cheerful environment which is reflected on how hard David their ninja like busser works and makes your experience seamless. Justin has a great smile very friendly.

First time at Wok n Fire and we were very impressed. The service was very attentive and offered helpful suggestions. Food was delivered promptly and every dish was to our liking. We started with the lettuce chicken wrap appetizer. This was almost a meal in itself. Appropriate portions of chicken, fried rice noodles and julienned scallions and carrots allowed us to make 5 wraps. Yum! I had the lunch sushi sampler. The miso soup was well balanced with tofu and seaweed. All elements of the sushi sampler were excellent: California roll, spicy tuna roll and nigiri: salmon, tuna, shrimp. All very fresh. My girlfriend had the orange chicken with brown rice. The chicken was moist and tender and fried to a sweet and mildly crunchy finish with a hint of spice and not too much orange. I would probably go with the white rice or veggie fried option instead of the brown rice. Overall, a great experience. We will definitely go again. Four stars instead of five due to the fact that it is a fast-casual chain restaurant.

Pretty cool on the inside in terms of décor. Our waitress hurt her hand and our table was for unattended for a while but the comp us a lot of food. I hope see gets better. The food here is pretty good, spice level is good for those that like spicy.

In search of gluten free Asian food? Take a hard swerve south and go to the PF Changs in Woodfield Mall instead. I found this place on the Find Me Gluten Free app and was psyched to see I had another option in the area. I mean, they even had fried rice! But I picked up food on a Saturday night and was super disappointed. The ginger chicken stir fry was alright but the fried rice was flavorless and gross; it didn’t even taste like fried rice. I paid just as much as I would have at PF Changs, yet the variety of options was substantially less and the quality of the food was significantly lower. The décor seemed modern, but just stepping up to the hostess stand to get my takeout order I could barely hear anything over the music. Located in the Arboretum, it seemed like this place was trying to be cool and hip but with different food than the traditional American or Italian nearby. Identity crisis? Maybe. Because it sure wasn’t Asian. Wok ‘n Fire, I appreciate the effort, but let’s have more follow through now please. Gluten free options are only great if they’re edible. I would highly doubt the regular dishes as well given how simple the items were that I ordered, so just in general, steer clear.

I was craving sushi, but my fiancé is not a sushi fan. After searching for a place near us online that would satisfy us both, we came across Wok ‘n Fire. I’m glad we did! The service was great and both the sushi and stir fry were excellent! My only complaint would be that it’s a little on the pricey side, but you are eating quality food in a a very upscale area, so I think it’s justified.(3 sushi rolls + kung pow chicken + 2 beers + 2 mixed drinks = $ 82 + tip)

Went for lunch and was not busy on a Monday. Tofu Pad Thai was too dry and not enough fish sauce. Chef needs to decide which version of Pad Thai to go with… either with a sticky fish sauce or a tomato base sauce. Tofu pieces were the right size but not crispy enough. My coworker had the ahi tuna salad that had a store bought dressing. The tuna looked good with seared edges. Restaurant made ginger ale but needed more sharp ginger notes.

YAY! One of my newest favorite pan Asian restaurants. I’ve only tried a few of the items from here, but each of the items were a 5⁄5. The beef fried rice is excellent and very flavorful. I’ve also had the orange chicken which was crispy and delicious(definitely try it if you love orange chicken!) and the kung pao chicken, which was equally good. I’ve also tried the grilled wasabi salmon which I’d highly recommend. It was a thin filet cooked perfectly with a slightly crispy crust. It’s accompanied with a small portion of lightly sautéed garlic spinach. It’s a perfect meal if you want to eat light and healthy. I’ve dined in twice and both times the food came out quickly and I was greeted by who I assumed to be the restaurant manager. I will be returning and recommending to friends!

I visited the South Barrington location of Wok ‘n Fire on Friday night and have to say that I’m a little disappointed in a few things. The food was good — we had the Crab Rangoons appetizer, the St Charles Roll, and the Inky Roll — and our waitress was really nice. Some other aspects, however, I would change. For one, I was FREEZING. So much so that I had to leave my button-down, long winter coat on the entire time. And it wasn’t just me — at all the tables surrounding ours, patrons had their coats on too. Our table was directly down from the entrance hallway and every time the door opened, a frigid gust of wind would hit our table. Every time. They tried to remedy this with a small space heater, but it didn’t work. It was really hard for me to enjoy my meal with my coat and scarf on. Wok ‘n Fire also offered a few drink specials on Friday. At first I ordered their white sangria, but, unfortunately, it just tasted like cheap wine. I switched it out for a mango margarita that was better — but way too much sweet and sour mix. Overall, I would love to return — I would just do it during the warmer months.

Food is rally good here and the service is consistently well above average, even though our favorite waitress, Taylor, no longer works there. :( The best deals can be found going there for ‘happy hour’ — all their appetizers and traditional rolls are half off!

First off, there is an enormous Buddha statue as you enter the restaurant. That warrants a star or 2 right there. Secondly, the sushi is pretty good. I like the Thai Kick and the Mexican rolls. They use the ingredients that you would most likely associate with those respective cuisines. It’s not the best, and it’s not the worst, but it gets the job done if you have a sushi craving and you’re in the area. Thirdly, the parking is horrible. The whole parking lot for the Arboretum is horrible. Whoever designed the parking lot there must have had quite the sense of humor.

If I would have written a review after my first experience here, I would have given Wok ‘n Fire 4 stars. This last visit left a bad taste in my mouth. The waiter was pretty terrible. We ordered drinks. I ordered a Drunken Pomegranate Ginger Ale and it was pretty bad. It was overly sweet and tasted flat. When the waiter finally came back, I told him. He offered to add soda water to give it carbonation, but I was afraid that would just make it taste watered down. He then offered to make me a different, so I ordered a Dragon’s Milk. It was much better! For appetizers, we ordered soups. I enjoyed my Hot and Sour Soup. I was disappointed in my boyfriend’s Spinach Egg Drop Soup that for some reason has no spinach in it. I asked the wiater about the missing spinach and he told me there is no spinach in Egg Drop Soup. I then asked when it is called«SPINACH Egg Drop Soup» then. That was our whole reason for trying it. It sounded different. Our noodle entrée the first time was out of this world. The Signature Sushi Roll we ordered was just okay. The second time we returned, all the dishes were lacking. I had to add the red chili paste to all the dishes and I never add spice to my dishes. Even those that had the«spicy» sign next to them in the menu. Everything was lacking in flavor this time around. The Pad See Ewe was bland, so I added soy sauce. The Curry Wok Dish was bland and definitely not spicy. The Korean BBQ Dish was also bland. It did not come with much meat and the chunks of meat were cut huge. Too big to use with chopsticks. I had to first cut the chunk into three pieces before they could be eaten with chopsticks. I asked my waiter about a green bean dish, which was amazing our first time here. It was our major factor in us returning. He didn’t know what we were talking about. Finally we found«Wrinkled Green Beans» under sides. They were okay this time, but not as amazing as I remembered them. The service took forever and our waiter was missing most the time. We kept having to ask bus boys and other wait staff when we wanted something, including the check. Overall, our dinner service took about two hours(and 2 people were an hour late, so I was there 3 hours). So why didn’t I complain more when the manager stopped by? We were celebrating my grandma’s birthday and I didn’t want to cause a scene. Although, I did respond that the food was«okay…» instead of my usual«great» which I think should have tipped her off. That is why I gave them two stars instead of one. Well that and because no one got food poisoning and it is a cute atmosphere. And the birthday banana fritters they give you were pretty good! It is always disappointing when restaurants start out great and go downhill so quickly.
