My gf and her friends planned a Sonoma trip and invited me along. We stopped by after wine tasting so we had a happy buzz going. We started with the arugula salad and four wine flights. Yea, that’s right four! One of my gf’s friends wanted to order two salads but we ended up stopping her because we didn’t want to be a bunch of gluttonous drunks. The salad ended up being delicious! The wines were decent. I’m not very knowledgeable on wine other than knowing it gets you as drunk as any other alcohol so it all tasted good to me. We later moved onto the fries frites. Oh excuse me, I forgot we’re in Sonoma… «frites». They didn’t really last too long on the count that they… well… are FRIES. Moving onto the entrée: Duck confit. It was pretty good. I only ordered one leg since my gf and I had a pretty large lunch. The meat was tender and definitely worth it. I’d definitely order it again(maybe next time, I’ll go all out and get the two-leg order). My gf ordered the grilled cheese because she loves grilled cheese sandwiches. I was fortunate enough that she gave me half of it because it was pretty good. It was made with tomatoes in it. I’ve never seen that before, but I thought it was delicious. Overall, I don’t have any complaints other than we had to repeat ourselves with certain requests to our waitress.

Really enjoyed lunch here. I expected a super pretentious place, but was happy to find it has good food and is laid back. The servers were all very nice and attentive. Ordered: Rose wine flight– excellent presentation and solid wines Heirloom Radish Salad– a bit dissapointed w this one(literally cut up radishes on a plate). Press sandwich– fabulous! Charcuterie plate– wonderful I am glad we went.

The flight menu wasn’t good both food and wines. Other dishes(fig salad and roasted duck) were good.

Love this place! Outdoor patio is so fun on a nice day like we had. Try to get in early or make a reservation for brunch. Drinks are great(and strong), food is also fantastic. Great fusions and flavors would definitely go back and recommend to check out. No surprise why there over 2,000 reviews :)

The best part of the meal was the freaking flounder!!! It was so flakey and moist in the inside and crispy on the outside. Buttery goodness! Love the lemony taste as well with the capers and spinach and mash. The duck legs were good too– good taste, a little salty but loved it with the peach. The steak tartare was yummy! Great crunchy crostini with it and the house mustards. The meat board was meh. Too much meat and some were a little strange aka one smelled like wet dog. Maybe in just not fancy enough. I would go for the ones with cheese as well. Overall, great experience and happy with dat fish! So happy I’m gonna call this place, Jenn and the founder. The girl and the fish.

Once again the courtyard is the star here, I got the flounder and it was fried and sleeveless. I got the wine prices were very reasonable and good and the service was fun and attentive. Not sure I can give this for stars but it’s a very good three-star restaurant and fun place to go

Loved the Girl and the Fig! Our waiter Geoffrey was just terrific. It was our first time for dinner and he patiently and enthusiastically answered ALL of our questions. He made a really good dinner into a great experience. Highlights of our meals were the duck liver mousse, the grill cheese sandwiches and the trifle to top it off. Wow. that trifle!

Parking was so hard to find-we drove around the square and surrounding areas 4 times before we could find a spot which made us a little late for our reservation but they were cool about it. Seating a little tight in the restaurant but when the drinks and food come it’s completely worth it. We went for brunch so I had to get a quiche Lorraine which was so fluffy and light I had to eat it all. I think this is a vegetarian spot but if you’re not one(I’m not) there are also meat dishes as well. My hubby got a crispy fried chicken thigh which was done perfectly. I also had fresh watermelon margarita they had on special which was so good and packed a punch. Our waitress was helpful and didn’t rush us out which I love. Would definitely go again if we were in the area but leave some time to find parking and get a reservation for sure.

Adorable restaurant smack dab in the heart of Sonoma. Came here early on a Monday morning for breakfast, and we were not disappointed! The breakfast menu itself is amazing– so many choices with options for any size appetite or taste. And I loved the atmosphere– we sat out back on the patio in perfect morning weather. I can only imagine how cute this place would be at night with the hanging stringed lights. To start, I ordered my first ever Bellini. A little sweet for me personally, but I still enjoyed it! For my meal, I ordered the 2 scrambled eggs with potatoes and bacon, with a side of yogurt and fruit. The yogurt was the perfect texture, which is hard for me to find. The only complaint I have was the eggs– they were a tad runny, and not warm once I received them. Granted, we had a party of 6 so I’m sure timing was probably tough. Other people in my party ordered the croissant breakfast sandwich(yummy but HUGE!), the avocado and shrimp Benny(really delicious), and the risotto gluten-free pancakes(wonderful balance of sweet and tart). Overall, seems like a good choice for a meal or drinks any time of the day!

I’ve been wanting to try this place for a while, but we’re rarely in Sonoma so we hadn’t have a chance to try it. We had friends in town and were making our way through Sonoma county, so this was the perfect lunch break. Our entrees were actually the least appetizing items we ordered. The pork belly sandwich was heavy and not really what I expected. I got the fig and arugula salad, which was good, but not memorable. The highlights were definitely the appetizers. We got the Works, duck liver mousse, and the steak tartare. My favorite was actually the combination of the jam with the duck liver. The sweetness of the jam really pairs perfectly on the brioche. Seriously my favorite item of the meal!

Excellent, casual Californian cuisine. Everything from the pates, charcuteries, and cheese selections were amazing. I especially enjoyed duck liver mousse, with the sweetness of that strawberry rhubarb jam cutting that irony liver flavor just perfectly. The pork belly sandwich was a heavy, soggy mess though… very fatty, and the bottom bun was literally falling apart from all the grease that it soaked up.

Excellent american continental cuisine in Sonoma. This is a very popular restaurant and best to make reservations. Gorgeous location and try and sit in the back patio. Service is fantastic and the food is too. Must try the flounder!

Can’t believe i haven’t reviewed this restaurant yet — it’s one of my «go-to’s» when meeting friends or dining out with out of town guests. It’s excellent for lunch or dinner — inside or out — lovely ambiance either place. Service is nearly always perfect. Food is fresh, inventive, beautifully arranged. One of my all time favorite brunch dishes is their Quiche — which is more like a soufflé. Super fluffy and tasty and very filling, especially with the shoestring fries that are on the side. Other favorites are Steak Frites and the Duck confit. It is a sure thing you will love this place!

Went here for a friend’s 30th birthday celebration. We spent a weekend in Sonoma and did some wine tasting, She made reservations ahead of time for about 12 of us for a lunch on a Saturday Afternoon. No surprise that many of the selections contain some type of fig, as the name suggests. Really cute and quaint little French spot. I automatically look for some foie when I eat French. I immediately gravitated toward the duck liver mouse/patè for an appetizer. We also shared a fromage, stanky cheese tower amongst us. A varietal of Cheeses, cured meats, bread, nuts. My favorite cheese of all time, cambozola which is a good introductory to bleu. I also ordered the flounder with caper and meunière. The fish was very clean and light which was placed atop a bed of a Yukon potato purée, like a fancy French-ish super creamy and smooth version of mashed potato with spinach. The portions were very generous. Amongst of everything that my fellow friends orders, we swapped and shared and tried each other’s entrees.

The Girl & The Fig is a solid choice to dine without a doubt. The food is California/French provincial-ish. They are seemingly always busy which by itself should tell you that it’s a place to try. Previous to my visit over the weekend my last experience had been at least 2 years. This time the wife made the reservation and informed me that corkage«is only $ 18», which apparently is a bargain, unbeknownst to me. We decided to bring wine as our wine storage seems to be overflowing by secret purchases. Anywho… I was surprised when we were sat on the patio. I would have expected this to have been made known at the time of reservation but the patio was pleasant enough although the tables were all very close to each other. Server was great, food was decent but not fantastic, wine was above board and I would purchase again if the price was reasonable. Cheese plate: Uninspired and too many hard cheeses. Tooooooooo many. Salad: Very good but overdressed by half. Entrée: Good shhtufff, but certainly nothing earth shattering and for the price was overpriced. Dessert: Underwhelming. The desserts seem to be a tertiary thought and tasted as such. The wife and I discussed why Healdsburg seems to have far better depth of restaurant quality than Sonoma. I could have received the same quality of meal at well over a dozen restaurants in Healdsburg. Lots of tourists in the restaurant. They seemed to be having a good time; and I saw the spitting image of Boy George circa 1982.

Three words: DUCK. LIVER. MOUSSE. The duck liver mousse is served with an apple-quince butter and toasted brioche. The butter and mousse combined has a lovely balance of flavors spread on a nicely toasted piece of brioche. Ask for extra brioche! — Mt. Lassen trout served with fingerling potatoes, grilled broccoli di ciccio, crawfish, and a zesty parmesan cream Food was delicious! I also had the mint-cucumber iced tea(unsweetened) and it was very refreshing!

Could not have loved our expedience more. First of all our server Estaban was fantastic! Give him a raise! We loved the atmosphere, seating(even though it is a liiiiitle close), music, and over all vibe. Try everything fig! Fig kiss drink, the mule was fantastic, fig arugula salad was fantastic, Brussels sprouts, flounder was to die for. Then we finished off with fig ice cream and mouse… I could go on and on. We left full but feeling good because it’s all such healthy local food. We are going back tonight! Make sure you make a reservation, it was packed on a Wednesday night.

Loved this place! It’s a sweet French restaurant with an outdoor patio option and indoor. Came here for brunch at 11AM. Apparently I had my rezzies mixed up but they were super nice and helped adjust it for me to allow immediate seating. It opens at 11am on Saturday and there was a huge crowd in front waiting for the doors to open. The menu is vast and while they have an a la cart option, they also have a three course pre fixe option as well. We ordered: Grass fed beef tartare Fig and arugula salad Special andouille pâté Duck confit(2legs) All of it was really good. Loved the beef tartare and fig and arugula salad. The andouille pâté was an interesting +novel concept but fell a little flat for me. The duck confit was cooked damn perfectly. The meat was so tender and juicy!!! The beans however was a bit on the salty side but overall a fantastic dish. They had great service as well. The one thing I would note is that there are only 2 individual restrooms so there tends to be a line which is pretty inconvenient.

Overall, didn’t QUITE live up to the lofty expectations that I had given Sondra’s reputation and body of work. However, it was still an amazing meal! I think it mostly fell short in service and overall atmosphere, and the tuna was very overcooked. I’ll just dive right in, dish by dish: ~ Fig & Arugula saiad($ 13) — recommended by multiple patrons on their way out, this dish was simple yet elegant and tasty, and a great start to the meal, especially with the fig theme in mind ~ Brussel Sprouts($ 11) — charred(not flash fried which seems to be trendy in Texas) and slightly underwhelming, this was the most disappointing dish. The bacon/pancetta bits did add a nice bit of flavor, though ~ BLT Sandwich($ 13) — also a rec from some friends walking out the door, the BLT was very tasty, if small in size. The green tomato jam tied everything together, and who doesn’t love munching on skinny fries afterwards?! ~ Duck Confit(2 legs — $ 29) — Outstanding. Perfectly cooked, tender and juicy meat, and exquisitely flavored atop a bed of white beans. [A bit difficult to split between 3 people, though, haha] ~ Yellowfin tuna(special replacing the swordfish — $ 28) — as mentioned earlier, thoroughly overcooked and overall, nothing splendid. Would have liked to try the swordfish. ~ Flounder($ 27) — excellent dish — made even our fish-averse friend give it props — flounder cooked to perfection with a nice citrus flavor atop mashed potatoes. ~ Lavender crème brûlée($ 7.50) — not a big brûlée fan, but this was well done! ~ Persimmon cake($ 9) — IFYOUGETONETHINGONTHEMENU, PLEASEDOYOURSELF A FAVORANDORDERTHIS! amazing flavors and goes super well with the cinnamon ice cream Can’t wait to explore other parts of the menu on the next Sonoma trip!
