This is a wonderful restaurant… They are very creative and make every attempt to make your experience a special one. We sat close to the«Open Kitchen» which as a foodie I love to watch the preparation of the food and the attention to detail, truly one of the pleasures and temptations of eating in this establishment. We had salads as appetizers and they were both well prepared and fresh. If I had noticed the«Parmesan Fries» on the menu(which unfortunately I did not:(because it appears to be one of the favorites of the locals) and looked amazing! The wine list was very good with a sampling of several of the local vineyards. We fortunately were here on a night that they had«Lobster Risotto«and it was truly mouth watering! I do wish they had either made the portion larger or had a side with it like asparagus. All in all I highly recommend this restaruant.

I am always going to be biased about breakfast food because it’s really not my favorite. We had a free breakfast here since we stayed at the hotel… so again I can’t really complain but I am going to anyway, just a little. The service was fine and lovely. The food came out relatively quickly considering we had been seated a few minutes after a large party of 8 with bratty kids showed up. I just really don’t like breakfast food and there wasn’t anything on the menu that really appealed to me. I ended up ordering an omelet with ham and egg. There wasn’t anything wrong with it — it was tasty enough and the potatoes that it came with were good. But I wish I had ordered something else. This place is so cute and was so busy the entire time that we were there. The menu looked great for the other meals and I would gladly come back to try something else. If you’re going to come for breakfast in the area, this is probably one of the better places to come — the quality of the food was impeccable and beautifully presented. So bottom line. Come here. Just don’t come here for breakfast if you don’t like breakfast.

I was traveling with a large group(around 20 people) to go wine tasting in Sonoma and decided to head over to find a place to eat in Sonoma Square. We were totally prepared to have to split up and eat separately, but I randomly decided to see if El Dorado Corner Café would have any space for us… and they did! The service was freaking excellent. Not only did they accommodate 20 people without reservations, they also agreed to process separate credit card transactions for all of us. That is really quality service right there. Seriously. The food here was also excellent. I would recommend everything I tried, which were: — Veggie Pannini: goat cheese with grilled eggplant, bell peppers, and portobello. The bread was really crispy and had great grill marks on the outside. There was also a bit of pesto that tied together all the flavors of the sandwich really well. — Truffle Parmesan Fries: HUGE portion, so worth it. The fries stayed crispy throughout the entire meal. I would have been happy just eating this. — Mussels: so so so good. Also a huge portion! Soaked up all the sauce with the table bread. Bits of chorizo(I think) added the perfect amount of spiciness in the broth. — Jalapeño spritzer: this mocktail was amazing. It was fruity and spicy at the same time, which is the perfect kind of drink to have on a cold, rainy day. Definitely recommend this place to everyone and will go back when I’m in the area wine tasting next time!

Great service. Good food. Nice ambience. We wanted to stay here but they were booked. We settled on eating in the café instead since there was a wedding in the restaurant and hotel. It was excellent and the wait staff was very patient with our son, who at a little over a year wasn’t the best dining companion…

During some off time in downtown Sonoma, CA, one friend said he «needed» to get a coffee at the El Dorado Café. A few of us tagged along to see what he was all worked up about. This is a corner coffee spot in a historic hotel, and the service, décor and staff are two notches above your usual place. Vibe was affluent and professional; The staff wore aprons; the tables and counters were spotless and free of clutter. Plus, free wi-fi was included. We ordered and paid; Service was snappy, and my iced coffee was excellent. But the best part was being able to bring our coffees over to the hotel lounge area out front, overlooking the busy street(through floor-to-ceiling windows) on a bustling Fall Saturday. People watching was stellar(quite the posh crowd; some«interesting» fashion choices were walking by on a regular basis). Note to self: If ever in the area again, do some laptop camping and lounging here.

The food was very tasty. The price is a little high for me(but that’s just me) but the food was excellent. I had the French Toast and it was so very good. My husband had the eggs benedict and LOVED it(and he’s only ever loved it at one other place in Maui). Would come back for sure if i’m back in Sonoma.

We had our rehearsal dinner here and the food and service was amazing. This was my second time eating at this establishment and I suggest it to all! I don’t have one bad thing to say about this place, which is rare!

A modern simple looking café right on the Sonoma Plaza Square. We arrived for breakfast and were seated promptly. Immediately we were given menus and asked if we wanted coffee. Yes, please! Coffee, which was good, was brought and orders were taken. The food took quite a long while to come out, about 20 minutes. During the wait, my coffee mug kept being replenished. However once the food came out, I never got a refill. The Valley breakfast was 2 eggs, bacon and biscuit. Although when it was served it was an English muffin and not a biscuit, I was a bit disappointed about that. Otherwise, the dish was delicious. The eggs were sprinkled with some chives and were cooked just right. The bacon had the right amount if crisp as did the potatoes and they were so good. The Duck Confit Hash, was a unique take on hash and was savory and scrumptious. All in all, the food was really solid and tasty.

If I could use one word to describe ED Corner Café, it would be: Happy. From the deliciously rich coffee, to the enticing descriptions of some of the menu items, to the darn pleasant and open-air feel when you step foot inside. It’s just happy! If you’re looking for a caffeine fix with plenty of milk options — come here! If you’re looking for a quiet work or meeting space — come here! If you’re looking for pleasant service even in the early morning when you’re hungover from too much wine(of course I wouldn’t know anything about that) — come here! And if you want some great airy interior decorating ideas, especially that stunning wood countertop, come here! If I lived and worked in Sonoma I’d surely be the Duchess of ED Café on Unilocal with all of my check-ins! ;)

I’ve always been considered a morning person but the more correct diagnosis is that I’m usually high on caffeine by 9am. And travelling with people who don’t share my addiction often means I spend the first few hours of the morning grouchy, quiet and fighting a headache until our day takes us near a coffee shop, at which point I angrily grab the steering wheel of whatever vehicle we’re driving and force it into the parking lot. Thankfully, my last trip to Sonoma was with two of my besties who know it’s better to give the redhead caffeine than face her wrath. And that brings me to my review of EDK’s Corner Café. This little spot is completely delightful. It’s quite literally tucked into the corner of El Dorado Hotel and open for breakfast and lunch. They sling delicious coffee bevvies and café bites that are drool-worthy. One thing I especially appreciated is the careful attention to special diets and food allergies. I am lactose intolerant, which usually means am given an option of soy milk at coffee shops. But, much to my chagrine, I also have a thyroid condition and soy products are very bad for me thanks to that chunk of luck, so I rarely get to enjoy coffee with milk at all. But, at El Dorado Corner Café, the condiment bar had some 5 or 6 milk choices. They even offered my favorite selection, which is coconut milk, and it didn’t bug them at all to hook a Texan up. This may not seem so out of the ordinary to any of you from the area, but to me, as a tourist I just can say it meant the world. And I’m sure my travel companions were happier with their day knowing I was fully caffeinated and rarin’ to go and had no potential food allergies that would cause us problems later. Cheers to you, El Dorado Café!

This is super clean and super chic. They serve breakfast til 11am on the weekends, and I barely made it. Nice little, quiet café on the corner of the El Dorado Hotel. Green tea and steel-cut oats with almond milk? Yes! Ordered at the counter, sat and enjoyed breakfast. They had a lot of tempting breakfast items, like salmon and cheese turnovers, egg omelets, crepes and so on. Not too busy, not a ton of seats, perfect little spot for a nice quiet breakfast. ;-)

Ski’s Old Bar Most will not remember when this little coffee house was a long, dark, musty corner bar tended by thje legendary bartender«Ski». He would roll over in his grave to see his bar now ! Yet for many of us a walk into the open, airy, colorful creative EDK café now is to rememer the legends of the past both in terms of Plaza bars and legendary bartenders. An honor to the old Sonoma. It is to manager Treg Finney’s credit that he has transformed this prime location on the Plaza into a warm and inviting café. As most have noted he also has introduced a mixed menu of creative foods ranging from breakfast through dinner. The Barrista’s are not just courteous but friendly. The place is small enough that they could(as in other café’s) put your coffee order on the counter and let you come up for it. Yet they, almost uniformly, bring it to you. A nicety noted and appreciated. It should be noted for the money consious that the coffee drinks are generally priced lower than other cafes. Example: next door is a café which charges $ 2.80 for a simple espresso wiith foam(a Macchiato) and at EDK it is $ 2.00. And EDK Café has a reward card which adds another 10% discount so the real price for a regular is $ 1.80. Finally, another credit and applause to Mr. Finney. After 6:00 on the Plaza there are half a dozen + bars and only ONE café open. The café is EDK(till 9:00) and is a savior for the many who are’nt looking for a drink after 6:00 but someplace to enjoy a coffee, glass or wine and some quiet conversation.

First thing is the décor is up to date, rather than the hideous wine country faux Tuscan favored by so many establishments. That sets the tone for a sophisticated atmosphere — and this café achieves that, and more. Second thing is that the croissants are absolutely first rate, as are the pains au chocolat. In fact, the croissants(which they bake every day on the premises) are better than any I’ve ever eaten outside France, and as good as the best I’ve eaten in France. Highly recommended.

When I imagined what sort of cutesy little café would exist in the main block of Sonoma, I basically conjured up everything about this place. Lots of nice antique wood, imagine Pottery Barn-gone-coffeehouse. Attached to the El Dorado Hotel, its a sweet and convenient café for those coming for a stay in the area. The coffee: I was surprised by this one, my latte was flavorful and punchy(I got a little rambunctious afterwards). Atmosphere: Cozy, low wooden benches and tables. Less laptop, more New Yorker Cost: Moderate Try: Pastries, they looked sublime

I don’t drink coffee but I got the most tasty ginger beer here! I think it came from Australia and it had a cool pull tab top. Everyone I was with seemed to like their coffee just fine. Although it did take a while to come out because there was just one girl working. But for after a day of wine tasting and chillaxing by the square this place hit the spot.

I likes. Easily, the foamiest, creamiest Chai Latte I’ve ever had the pleasure of sipping on. Foam so thick and creamy, I hesitated awhile before lidding, so I could take in more of the wonderfulness of it all, sans any interference. Here’s a pic should you dare to doubt me: Nice people watching too!

Fantastic place! Homemade soft serve. Excellent caffeinated drinks. A good variety of sweets and yogurt parfaits to satiate the wandering tourist and for the coffee monster within, I’ve found the perfect spot to sit and observe the hordes of tourists spill out over this cute little town square like the Red Sea. A strong iced latte($ 3.75) kicked my mental cogs into gear and I was sent into a synaptic shock. The décor here reflects my minimalist tastes when it comes to interior design. Strong sleek lines defined by the stark white walls and grounded with the dark espresso wood flooring and chairs. Steel accents bring brightness to the ambiance. Part of the hotel, the El Dorado has brought a bit of modernity to this highly touristed spot in Sonoma. Perfect waiting room for the wine tasting adventurers or a quick spot to relax and rest the weary feet. Next time, I’m going to try the soft serve.
