I want to love Daddy Jones. In my opinion, they serve the best burger in the neighborhood. The food is really great, but on every occasion that I have dined there, the service has been mediocre to poor. Last night’s experience was the saddest showing yet. Despite calling and asking what the wait was for 2 and being told that there wasn’t one, we were told it would be 30 minutes to be seated after the short walk to the restaurant. No big deal, it was a Saturday night. Since we had to wait anyway, we opted to sit on the patio. When it was our turn, the hostess told us the only thing that was currently open was a lower coffee table seat. Having never sat on the patio we reluctantly agreed. I regretted saying yes as soon as we saw the table; not only was it low, but there was only a bench on one side, and it very awkwardly faced the rest of the diners on the patio, making it feel like you were there for some people watching dinner theater. If this seat is ever offered to you, don’t take it. The one thing they did right was allow us to move to another table once one freed up. Unfortunately after that the experience really went downhill. No one came to greet us at the awkward table for at least 10 minutes. No water, no offer to take a drink order. When that did happen, it took another long wait to have a beer and a glass of wine delivered, just as we moved to a new table. We ordered spanakopita for satiating our now out of control hunger monsters, and it was dropped off without any utensils or napkins. When we asked for some, it took a good 5 minutes for them to be brought over, despite that the cabinet for these items was right across the patio. I should have just grabbed them myself. The burgers we ordered took what seemed like forever to arrive. At the very least, we got to listen to the saga of the table next to us while we waited; their party of 8 was able to eat all of their meals while one poor guy waited for his lost order to arrive. It came 25 minutes after the party alerted the server that one entrée was missing. By the time he got his meal, everyone else had finished. My second drink, which I ordered when my burger was(finally) delivered, came after I had finished my meal. At that point it really didn’t want it but it wasn’t worth the wait to complain about it. We were seated at the first table around 8, and didn’t leave the restaurant until 9:40. We were not at all intending to have a long, drawn out meal. They could have had at least one more party our table if the service hasn’t been such a mess. Our server was working the entire patio alone, but seemed to have 0% sense of urgency. I don’t think he realized the impact this had on his or Daddy Jones’ ability to to make money on a Saturday night. I wish this was a one off experience, but sadly every time I eat at Daddy Jones something like this happens. My take is that they have a combination of an inexperienced and apathetic staff, and they don’t really care about what happens in the front of house. If you would like to taste Daddy Jones’ delicious fare, I would suggest ordering takeout.

This place is nearby and with a great patio. But I have been here 3 times and my burger has been completely well done every time(even though they make a point to ask you how you want it and then recommend it medium). This most recent time they lost several drink orders and a sandwich order and it took one hour to rectify the missed food order. The server seemed unconcerned and also never brought water for half the table. The flavours and the atmosphere are happening but a lot of other things are not and in a saturated Somerville market that’s a problem.

Let me start out by saying I’m only giving them 3 stars mainly because we waited an extremely long time for our food. I will say the restaurant is pretty cute and I love that we were able to sit outside on the upstairs deck. We ordered some yummy drinks and then ordered main courses of the pita sandwiches and I personally got the rice bowl. I think I should’ve stuck with the pita because the rice in the rice bowl was extremely bland and definitely not worth the extra price. Overall my experience there was fine, I just wish we didn’t have to wait so long.

The food here is OK but the service has been horrible every time. It consistently takes over an hour for the food to come out once you order. We won’t be returning.

This is my local neighborhood bar, so I’ve visited many times and can’t believe I haven’t reviewed it yet… To be fair, I would have given this 3 stars before this weekend, but I just tried brunch here for the first time on Saturday and it was great! Everything was cooked perfectly and was delicious. I didn’t get the bacon bowl but someone in my group did and I was very jealous because the bacon was cooked so perfectly(super crispy) and the whole bowl looked amazing. I ordered the french toast and it was fantastic. We also got this custard pastry thing that was soooo good. I forget the name but it was $ 5 and little but so worth it. I’ve tried a bunch of different things here for dinner and the only thing I really loved was the Chris’ burger. It is a ridiculously delicious and messy burger. The service is always decent and they have good drinks and a nice beer selection. If you’ve been in the past and weren’t impressed, I’d highly recommend stopping by for brunch. Especially now that the patio’s open. You may be pleasantly surprised.

Excellent gyro — authentically Greek with the fries right in it and lovely pita. I’m a big fan of their spanakopita and the fried zucchini for appetizers. Sweet potato in the moussaka gives a sweetness that is richly deserved, making it a great dish if you’re in the mood for something heavy. Their cocktails are good, and the wine is drinkable. A great place and my go-to neighborhood bar.

3 years later, we still come here pretty regularly. I wish I could give it 4.5 stars. The pros: * awesome staff * amaze brunch * epic patio * drinkz * locals /neighborhood vibe * saved by the bell(or the like) on the tvs The cons: * We would seriously come here way more often if there was a bit more variety to the menu, especially for vegetarians /pescatarians.

It’s the third time I come to this place… Great drinks and they have a great selection with the drinks of the day… I love the Caribbean jalepino rum cocktail… Spicy and delicious. Food is tasty especially the burger and the mezze ! My friends love the lamb rice bowl too. Very nice place to gather with friends. Staff is amazingly friendly and lovely!

The best little bar around. I live in magoun square, so I end up here a lot. Great drink specials, bartenders are pretty skilled, and the food is great. Atmosphere is weird, but in a good way. Check this place out for a relaxing drink or two.

The brunch there is quiet in comparison to sound bites and places further on Broadway but because of that the food has much more details to it. So delicious and unique choices. Small menu so keep that in mind

Hip/cool/funky… friendly staff. Someone asked if we were too cold by the door and wanted to move which was nice(we actually didn’t need to, it was surprisingly warm enough!) Mussels to start were tasty although a bit salty but that didn’t stop us from downing them. Moussaka was a delicious slab of eggplant, potatoes, and sweet potatoes with meat and sauce. So heavy, but so good. My husband was a little disappointed at the small skewers of lamb on his greens. I told him he should have gone with rice or pita but… I think he was expecting something more like steak tip size. All in all, enjoyable!

Came in for Sunday brunch at 11 and the restaurant had just opened, it was pretty empty the whole time we were there. I got the BLT with egg and sweet potato fries and my boyfriend got the pork bowl. Both dishes were delicious! They also serve free Turkish coffee so our total bill was only $ 25. Will definitely come back!

Sit outside in the beautiful new patio!!! Strong cocktails — I actually didn’t need a second one! Delicious apps — the fried cheese triangles were my favorite. The fried zucchini with the garlic-potato-mash was tasty and different(and I burped garlic the rest of the night, which I’m happy with!). The sweet potato fries with honey and cheese were a bit too sweet for me, and I kind of wanted to dip them because the other apps were dips… but they were still very tasty. The burger was excellent and service was so good that I tipped over my usual high range. Maybe it was the booze. I’m looking forward to returning!

Overall a great neighborhood place but my one complaint would be that the service could be improved. Not sure if there was only 1 waiter for the whole outside area but it took a good amount of time at every stage of the meal. He also messed up 2⁄3 orders. I got the cheeseburger with sweet potato fries and it was really good! As was my Storm trooper cocktail. I love the addition of the outdoor patio! This area needed it! Will definitely give this place a second shot because of the food & drinks but I hope their staff grows with them!

— BOTTOMLINE: Surprisingly good food, surprisingly mediocre drinks. Godzilla was playing on the television which was nice. Nothing makes for a more delightful bar dinner than watching Ken Wantanabe stare ominously off camera(seriously). –THESPACE: Nice bar area in the front for groups, but the dining area was a bit dark and dungeon-y. Got seated immediately. –THEDRANKS: They seem to mix up their drink menu often(none of the drinks we ordered are on their website now). I ordered one named after Stormtroopers. Both of our drinks were weak and didn’t taste as special as I hoped it would, which was surprising considering their price tags. Nice beer selection, though. –THEFOOD: To me, the name«Daddy Jones» doesn’t scream Greek restaurant. To say the cuisine here is Greek is stretching it — it’s more a menu that just has feta and pita more often than some other bars. Thank you, Mr. Christopher, for your ‘Chris’ Burger’, because it was delicious and came with thick cut bacon and crispy to the max fries. I got a chicken rice bowl, which came with a nice ramekin of tzatziki sauce. I then proceeded to dip my fries in the sauce because I am reckless. The other proteins seemed to cost a little $$ for a rice bowl, but I thought the chicken bowl was on point.

I dig this spot. Came with a friend for bingo night and had a few mixed drinks. I enjoyed my cocktail– I had some sort of punch concoction and the bartender was super friendly and welcoming. I will be back and will be trying the food next time I go.

Daddy Jones was 1 of the best places I’ve ever been to in my entire life. I loved absolutely everything. The ambience and the food were beyond incredible. I cannot wait to return… and return… and return… I hope this place lasts for an eternity. The food was sensational. Obsessed. Thanks for doing great things.

Very trendy cute place. They have Star Wars memorabilia throughout the bar. The music selection was eclectic and awesome! The waitress was very friendly and attentive. We ordered the spanakopita for an app and it was delicious! We ordered the lamb pita, the chicken kebabs, the mac daddy Mac and cheese and the cheese burger. Everyone loved their main dish. We tried several cocktails and enjoyed them all. For dessert we got loukoumades and baklava. The loukoumades was a lot like the dough of a chicken finger with honey and cinnamon on it– most of the table loved it. I loved their baklava, there were a lot of honey and nuts– super tasty! I also got the Nescafé frappé and LOVED it!!! My new favorite neighborhood hang out!!! We will be back!!!

A cool, rectangular space using old gym lockers mounted on the wall as shelving. Large glass windows allow you to look into Medford street and are punctuated with high top tables across from the long bar. Odd choices for tv programs — ESPN, ’80’s murder mystery, couldn’t see the other screen. Nothing on the menu is over $ 20. Drinks are poured thick and heavy. Well mixed and cold. Chicken tszouvlaki($ 10) served in a pita with tzatziki well seasoned with dill or over a salad. Either plate comes with french fries. The salad version is in a bowl dressed with olive oil and vinegar. Smoked herring($ 10) over grilled romaine is a large plate with grilled bread and a light oil dressing. Deep fried zucchini($ 10) is a large serving of vegetables breaded thickly, fried hard, and served with a bean and garlic dip. Service is slow and servers watch as plates sit on tables for long periods of time. Other than this minor glitch, good food, friendly service.

I challenge management/ownership to dispute our experience, we were sitting right under a security camera and arrived at around 8:30 on Saturday May 3rd. Stopped by Daddy Jones, this was my 3rd visit. I really liked this place, it’s great menu with creative cocktails. Rarely do I downgrade an establishment or bother to update a review because of one poor service experience alone, but this was simply the worst and most hostile experience I have ever had at a restaurant. It was so bad my friend and I stewed for the next 30 minutes about it… Scratch that, our service was so bad it consumed our conversations for the rest of our night. We sat at 2 open seats at the center of the bar and were quickly were asked to move to the end/corner of the bar because the arrangement made more sense for therm, yeah no sweat… We ordered our first drinks, no problem. We both finish our first drinks, they sit there empty for about 10 minutes after finishing and I’m forced to break a cardinal bar rule, I get out of my seat and walk down to the other side of the bar to tell the bartender my order while telling her I hate being that guy. Our next round comes as well as the sweet potato fries covered on cheese and honey. We had the nerve to request forks and napkins and also got an eye roll, then when she came back with them I asked for ketchup, she had to make 2 trips, you would have thought I asked for her first born. The fries were delicious so we were willing to cast all of this off… Then my friend made the sorry mistake of trying to get in one more drink. Ordered a rum and coke, arguably the quickest and easiest to to push out… And waited a good 10 minutes after placing the order when the 2nd bartender walks by. Bartender #2 walks by the end of the bar and my friend, in the most polite tone, excuses himself and inquires about his drink. Bartender #2 raises her hands and her voice and tells us that she is busy and to wait our turn. Mind you, the restaurant was not at full capacity. I had to interject, I tell her we have had bad service all night, our drink were ordered 10 minutes ago, that there was no need for the tone, and that we now just wanted our check. She doesn’t get our check, tells bartender #1 and makes us wait another 5 minutes before bartender #1 just drops off our check, no eye contact, no apology, no mention of the forgotten rum and coke. Bill was $ 39, we lay down $ 40… I can’t remember the last time I could justify not leaving a tip. Bartender #2 comes back, asking if we want change to leave a tip, I tell her the poor service combined with the lack of any apology for it is good reason for not leaving one. She then starts basically yelling at us. Bartender #2 continued to tell us out of the bar…
