A quiet nice place to take your date to in Somerville. The food isn’t amazing but decent. They have a decent wine selection and what I like about this place is that the bartenders tend to stay here for a long time, so every time I come in I feel like I know the bartenders… Been here many times and would go back again for a quiet dinner. I have been here for couple of birthday parties and I would really recommend having parties in here!

I’ve tried really hard to like Sagra. I’ve been here a minimum of five times and with every visit something seems to be a bit off and the whole dining experience never really clicks. However, it was my two past experiences there that have really soured my view of the restaurant. My whole family came into town for a celebration and knowing that they love Italian food I suggested Sagra because of its proximity to Tufts. First off, when we arrived the restaurant was extremely quiet, in fact, we may have been one of the only groups there. Not that this bothered me(it was pretty early, about 5:00 or 5:30). We were seated at a table near the bar and sat for about 20 minutes before anyone approached out table. Finally, the hostess came to us and said that the bar tender would be our server and that she could arrive shortly. She did not arrive shortly, however, we shrugged it off as the company helped to pass the time. I ordered the Chicken Parm and was happy with it, however the rest of my family was less than pleased. My grandmothers steak was overdone, and my father and mother both found their seafood to be overly chewy and«off putting». Perhaps one of the main problems with Sagra is their price point. While they do have a great deal for students during the week(if you arrive before 6 I think) at any other time the prices are simply too high for the quality of food and service that you receive. Needless to say, my family was not pleased with the slow service, the overpriced and overly sugary drinks and the poorly prepared food. But I gave Sagra one more chance. I came on Valentine’s Day because they had an interesting special and I figured the waitstaff and the chefs would be on their game for the holiday. The fact that there were so many open tables on one of the busiest nights for restaurants should have tipped me off that again something was amiss. We were seated promptly but after waiting for 15 – 20 minutes, no one, not even the hostess said a word to us. A waiter walked by us a minimum of 5 times to serve the table next to us and offered no explanation or apology. Finally, having actually ordered nothing, we decided to leave and upon explaining the issues that pushed us to leave the hostess simply shrugged and gave a half hearted«sorry». We were able to grab a table as Posto and the meal was FANTASTIC, the service was fantastic and the staff pleasant and upbeat. Conclusion: ditch Sagra, hit up Posto you won’t regret it.

Ultra mediocre«Italian» food served by look-alikes of the cast of Jersey Shore. The food is nothing to fist pump over. At least… that’s what it is now. This place was great 6 months ago — what happened? My friend ordered the lobster ravioli, only to be served what looked and tasted like canned tuna. You can get far better Italian food at Mike’s a few doors down for a fraction of the price.

I have been to this place a couple of times and only after the Jingle Bell Jog 5k run. A bunch of the area bars and restaurants serve free Harpoon IPA to the runners as long as the kegs are still flowing. This used to be the place that had little post race traffic but this year it was packed. Only two free Harpoons this year…

Sagra is a clean, sleek and simple bar and restaurant located just a stone’s throw away from Davis Square. With plenty of street parking in the area, and the T that close, this place is very conveniently accessible and. Their other location on the other hand, is far less accessible, as it is located in Dedham and thus only really accessible by car. This locality, despite it’s location though, is somehow easy to ignore or overlook. It’s discreet and melds well with its surroundings. I had driven and walked by it many times without even taking even the slightest of glances at it until Kat V. organized a Thirsty Thursday UYE there. While I’ve been there for drinks and dinner, I’ve enjoyed myself best sitting at the bar, in front of a Bruins game, with a plate of pasta. Don’t get me wrong, their terrace is nice but it’s on the sidewalk and not very wide, making for an awkward experience at times when there’s many pedestrians around. Their menu is Italian-inspired and features a multitude of pizza and pasta dishes, along with some appetizers of all sorts, from wings to calamari and arancini, and even an antipasto plate of cold cuts and cheeses. Most are under $ 10 except for that later which is $ 12. When it comes to entrees, pizza and pasta aside, they also have sandwiches, and a few heartier dishes featuring veal or chicken. Personally, I’m a sucker for their plate of spaghetti Bolognese, which cost $ 13. It featured a rich sauce and had quite a bit of meat in it. It was very tasty and was perfectly portioned. I’ve also had their chicken picatta dish($ 14) which is one of my favorite Italian dishes and which was decent but again, far from great. The sauce wasn’t very lemony and the chicken a bit on the dry side for me. While the food is decent, not a single one of their items is over $ 20, making this place not only convenient, but affordable to most — But the food is far from amazing; it’s average but on the upside, it also is reliable. The atmosphere inside is nice, with dark tones, a sleek and modern look, fitting for a date or to watch a sports game, or even to grab some drinks. Most times if you do want to have dinner though, make sure you have a reservation as the place can be busy and often is.

This place kinda sucks. I live down the road and go in rarely because I always leave wondering why I wasted my time and/or mon-ay. Pros: Great cocktails cons: Crappy waitstaff One time, a friend and I were 2⁄5 people in there on a Saturday afternoon. It took TEN minutes before anyone even glanced over to take our order. There was no apology for not being at the bar, or for taking her time while behind the bar to get to our orders. It wasn’t a friendly experience. After one drink, we went to the liquor store and got our own cocktail ingredients and went back to my place. When a bar actually makes you decide that you would rather go home and make your own drinks, its pretty sad.

I’ve been here once, and I definitely think there’s room for improvement at this restaurant… 1) The menu is unbelievably confusing – any menu that requires a waitress explaining to you how to navigate it does NOT qualify as a menu. It’s extremely wordy and nearly impossible to browse. When we asked the waitress, «What’s this ingredient?», referring to a few words in Italian, she responded, «I don’t speak Italian, so your guess is as good as mine.» WOW. So we were left to guess what food we were getting… 2) Everyone at our table, besides one person, received their food around the same time, while the one person had to wait 20 minutes for his. Talk about awkward. 3) We had to ask for utensils. Did they expect us to eat pasta with our hands? 4) The food had mixed reviews. Dry salmon dishes, average broccoli chicken ziti, pretty good steak… Like others have mentioned, there’s something about this restaurant that seems a bit… off. Overall, I’d say that it seems to be a restaurant that will remain in the minor leagues of restaurants. It seems to lack any particular ambiance or consistency in quality of food, and judging from reviews dating back to 2007, hasn’t improved much. It would be understandable if this place was brand new – there will always be a few hiccups whenever a new restaurant opens – but it’s not! Definitely not one of those restaurants you’ll ever miss visiting.

interesting. thats what i have to say about this place. they are trying really hard but something is just a little off. first off — the waiter was friendly enough but took FOREVERRRRRRRRRR. The bus boy came by to check in on us a few times even. Really insane. I ordered pizza. yep. i did. it was good — kinda hard to screw up pizza(even though i’ve seen it done). So i can’t really comment on the food. BUT while we were waiting for our check — there were people strolling in and this place turns in to a night club! weird. very weird.

I have been here a few times both for dinner and I hosted an event here and I must say, it is a nice change of pace from the rest of Davis Sq bar wise. The bartenders are friendly and accommodating for a large group(with enough notice) which is nice! I was also excited when they we willing to make my favorite signature shot(Heaven and Hells)! Not many bars in Boston carry all the ingredients so finding one that does and will make it made me the happiest girl — I almost got weak at the knees! The kitchen is attentive to food allergies which is very nice. The sangria is tasty! The prices are reasonable. They also show playoff hockey — how can you beat that? Really — what more can a girl ask for?!

Came here with my parents and some extended family for a special occasion. I thought the food was decent, but my family thought differently. And it would probably be useful for you all to know that my family is straight off the boat from southern Italy. We were all thrown off before even coming into the restaurant. Their slogan is «mangia, bevi, e taca». Which translates to: Eat, Drink, and SHUTUP! «taccare» is a rude way of saying shut the F up so we were all kinda shocked. Not a very pleasant way to welcome your customers… The food attempted to be authentic, but it really wasn’t. The arancini were really good though. I enjoyed my mussels. My godfather got some veal dish and was very disappointed. I would probably come here again to refresh my memory and try something different. But its decent italian food if you’re not too concerned with authenticity. Be aware this place does turn into an underage drinking bar for Tufts students after 9PM.

I went to Sagra tonight with my boyfriend, Chris, and his father. This is a typical dinner for when his dad(a gung-ho Italian-American) comes to visit, and as someone who is difficult to please when it comes to Italian, he has usually had good things to say about it. Tonight, our table ordered salads(I had the mixed greens, which was good but the dressing was very very salty) and Vince, boyfriend’s dad, had the ravioli, which he seemed to enjoy. Chris and I both ordered the Chicken Saltimbocca, and it was very good, but also very salty. I’m not sure what was going on there, but everything was overly salty tonight, and that’s not something I usually notice. Just an update…

I went here using a certificate(which is a great deal: for $ 4, I bought a $ 25 gift certificate with a minimum purchase of only $ 35). And, I loved the atmosphere(classy yet laid-back), the comfortable chairs, and the service. I really, really wanted to like this place based on my first impressions, but I just wasn’t impressed by my meal. I ordered the gnocchi with a duck ragu, which tasted like it had been doused in orange juice and not the hint of orange zest that was mentioned in the menu description. I wouldn’t recommend this entrée unless you’re a huge fan of orange flavor! Perhaps, I’ll try it again and order another dish and hope for better luck :) It’s always difficult to rate a restaurant’s food selection based on sampling one dish…

Lovely atmosphere. Was there late in the evening, so it was quiet and almost empty. The service was good. The kitchen closed at 10, so dessert was not an option, but my dining companion and I were still able to linger over coffee after our meal. The food was quite good, and reasonably priced. The bread was lackluster, but the appetizers were tasty. I had the beet rissoto(a special), which was unusual and delicious, my guest enjoyed the chicken saltimbocca.

It hurts me to be writing this review for a place that is seems so nice inside… But…when you are somewhat hypocritical on your whole«hospitality» idea it makes me a little wary… I went to this venue for an event for a group that paid to rent it out. Granted this group had under 21 year olds in it so when events take place at bars the venue always has to be closed to the outside public. WELLLLLL Sagra said it would be closed, but regretted to inform us that people who stayed late eating or drinking at the bar could not be kicked out. Even after it was explained that there were 30 year old MEN at the bar drinking while 19 year girls were over on the other side of Sagra dancing, and how inappropriate that sort of situation could become, they merely said, they believed in «hospitality» and therefore couldn’t kick people out, no matter what – not even to avoid 30 year old men checking out 19 year old girls… interesting view of hospitality. Maybe we should have told them that the word hospitality also refers to new clients!!! And the way we were treated when trying to find a resolution to this problem was no where near hospitable. I honestly don’t think I could recommend this place being rented out again, especially when you combine this with a rude door man who constantly yells at you… So Sagra, you really are pretty inside, and you are definitely a gem in the davis square for that reason, but the pizza i tried of yours combined with this whole issue around«hospitality» just really brought me down… All clients or customers should be valued, especially ones paying with a contract to rent out the space. It doesn’t take brain science to figure that one out.

I wish I could give it 2.5 stars… I saw this restaurant on Unilocal and although it received mediocre ratings, I decided that a place with Nutella Bread Pudding couldn’t be all that bad. I went here for dinner with my boyfriend on a Saturday night. Despite there being some sort of crazy festival going on in Davis, the place was rather quiet. The décor was lovely — modern, a good lounge feel to it. We sat in the bar area because no one else was and we like to hear each other talk. The waiter was lovely… gave us all the time we needed, but didn’t ignore us. I had a wonderful espresso martini and the menu choices sounded lovely, but mostly, I was just keeping my eye on dessert. I had the pork tenderloin and the gnocchi. There was NO spice to the food. Who makes a cream sauce with no garlic, or pepper, or SOMETHING! It would have been wonderful had there been some flavor… but there was nothing. So I powered through my dinner. Dessert. Yes. I order my bread pudding. Meh. It was alright. I didn’t really taste much Nutella and the«pudding» part seemed non-existent. It was mostly moist bread with a little chocolate flavoring. The ice cream that was on the side — gross. I don’t know what it was… but it was not yummy. I gave it the 2.5 stars for the décor, service and the attempt. They just need to order some spice to put in their dishes!

I’m kind of stunned by the three star average for Sagra. I went their for a friend’s birthday on Saturday night. We were seated in our own private section. The ambiance was beautiful, our waitress was attentive and all of the food I had was awesome. The complimentary bread came with what tasted like an orange infused butter or cheese(couldn’t really tell) and olive oil dip. I wasn’t crazy about the orange flavor, but the bread was great. I split the«cheese plate for 2» with three people and it was more than enough for all of us. It was a VERY generous portion of cheese, although they kind of skimped on the crackers. If I had split this with only one person, I would have been too full for dinner! I opted for the chicken picatta with spinach. I don’t have chicken picatta often, but this tasted as good as any I’ve ever had. Everyone else seemed thoroughly impressed with their meals also. The prices were right for the quality of the food, and considering it’s so close to my house, I’m sure I’ll be back!

The Unilocal stars say it all: A-OK. Not supremely awesome and not terrible, just okay. Sagra is a little pricey for what it is — pseudo-upscale Italian. The atmosphere is a little weird — too quiet, too faux fancy, lots of dark shiny leather. It kind of feels like a restaurant you might see in a movie. The food is decent. We had the arrancini to start — nice crispy outside, the inside was gooey with cheese and pretty tasty rice. Served up with a side of red sauce(very tasty) — the app was nice. Entrees — I went for the chicken piccata and he had the seafood risotto. The piccata was good — lemony and nice with a side of spinach, but it wasn’t any better or worse than something I might get at Olive Garden.(This is not a dig — I love the OG.) He was thrilled with the risotto, but I thought it was a bit under seasoned. We left with full bellies and plenty of leftovers — so all in all a success!(Using that coupon didn’t hurt either).

Davis Square has a very high density of weekend brunch places. Despite its egg-slinging neighbors, Sagra finds a way to stand out on Saturday mornings. The menu offers impressively filled omelettes(prosciutto and bacon, just to name one variant) and well-plated crepes, which serve as a nice counter-point to the standards at Rosebud and Kelly’s, or the Southern favorites at Orleans. And the food is cheap. Almost unsettlingly so. Omelettes, eggs, and crepes are under $ 10, and that’s a steal for the quality and portions. The décor, with dark walls and leather couches, doesn’t necessarily scream«brunch,» but the televisions showing Sportscenter overheard did add a touch of hominess that I want when eating nicely seasoned potatoes. I would come back here, and recommend others to do the same. It’s a really good meal, in a very nice place.

Wow, what a pleasant surprise! I’m not sure why I expected this place to be substandard but I did, the reviews on Unilocal are iffy and I walk by here a few times per week and most of the time it’s dead. We went in for Saturday brunch and were the only people here! Needless to say the service was excellent, lulz. The vegetarian crêpe was delicious, very well made. My three eggs(poached) with toast and homefries was also good. The eggs were perfect and the toast was buttery and crunchy. Prices for three dishes and two drinks was $ 30, a deal if you ask me! I would go back here to try lunch and dinner, can’t wait!

First off, the chairs here are sooooooo comfortable. I’d really like to come here sometime when I have a little more time to stay. I went to Sagra on Saturday night at dinner time, and we were seated immediately despite lacking a reservation. The spongy bread was quite good, served with olive oil and lemon ricotta with herbs. I liked the tagliatelle alla funghi. My friend had the lamb, and he complained that the larger piece was cooked a little more rare than he had expected it to be. He liked it altogether, though. The service was together that night. The hostess and busers were very prompt, and our server was quite attentive and accommodating of our time constraints. Sagra is fairly new, so it sounds like they’re still working out some of the kinks that any new business has. The atmosphere here is a little odd. It’s a lopsided amalgamate of sports bar, classy dinner joint, bar bar, club and hangout. I might do away with or move the giant Peroni sign on the wall inside. I think I’d probably come here sometime when there’s a game or I have a medium sized group of people who want to go out for drinks and snacks.
