Mr. Johnson is one of those old jewelers that you just hope to meet at least once. We stopped by the Jewel Box because I was interested in a spinning piece. He, as well as his wife and visiting friends, were/was super gracious in answering our questions and went super old school in writing me up a jewelry card. As he put it «just in case someone special finds it.» If you are interested in some great estate jewelry and peeps who are knowledgeable at what they have, i suggest this friendly place.

david helped us to find the most perfect engagement ring in their estate jewelry collection. he was patient and attentive as i dragged him across the store and back to show me this and that. he answered all of our questions and never talked down to us or made us feel like he was selling us something. he was very happy to educate us about styles, diamond grading, cuts, settings… we were happy to do business with someone who seemed personally fulfilled to help us find the perfect ring. mission accomplished. the ring we found actually fit perfectly without any alterations, however, if we had needed it sized they would have been able to do that for us within the hour! thank you david!

Okay, so this is a three part story For our 25th anniversary I bought my wife a beautiful ring at an estate jeweler. During our anniversary trip, a diamond fell out of the setting, and she was heartbroken. Luckily, after prayers were answered, we found the lost diamond. We stopped in Solvang, and stopped in a jewelry store, asking if they had a jeweler on duty. They didn’t, but referred us to Johnson’s Jewel Box. We stopped in, asking them to reset the diamond. They did, but stated it was only a temporary fix, that the ring needed some more build up, but we were only in Solvang a few hours, so he couldn’t do the complete job. They didn’t charge us to reset the diamond, and we went back to the Bay Area. I checked with a jewelry store in Walnut Creek, who state they have master jewelers. but they didn’t seem terribly interested in fixing the ring, and wouldn’t even give me an estimate. Last month we stopped in Solvang again, having called in advance. Johnson’s took the ring, repaired it, doing the build-up for $ 45.00, which is a total bargain, and did the repair in just a couple of hours. When we returned to pick up the ring, my wife fell in love with a wedding band that completely matched her ring, and we bought it. Together the set is spectacular. The people working in the store are extremely personable, easy going and incredibly friendly. This store is highly recommended
