I didn’t care for the burger on second vist. My wife loved her pasta dish.

I was clearly dissaappointed with my experience. An hour wait for my food and my kids. I’ll never go back and the staff was completely clueless.

Very average. Appearance needs work, service okay. Only thing I really liked was the sweet potato fries appetizer with mini marmallows.

This place is probably the closest that I’ve come to giving 5 stars. I loved this place! I went a few weeks ago for happy hour. I was very satisfied with their selection of beers on tap and I loved their happy hour specials. Also I ordered food there which I found to be priced well and tasty. I thought that the service was very good as well. I never found myself searching for the bartender or waiting very long for a drink. It was a big bar with a few different bartenders but they seemed to have a good plan on covering areas that kept us customers happy. The only complaint and it not really their fault is they’ve got a weird parking lot. I found it easier to park at the nearby train station and walk the few extra feet.

My last review of 2011 goes to Arthur Avenue. I believe I came here on a Thursday night and it was pretty poppin. There was live music and a mix crowd of cougars and young chicks. The band was playing a whole bunch of 80’s hits so I could see why there were so many cougars in attendance. As for the bar and restaurant, it’s pretty good. From what I understand, they recently renovated and revamped their bar and menu. They have a decent selection of beers and their wings are great. Service is fantastic. Verdict — I was in the area visiting a friend and living in Stony Brook for school for so long, it gets very boring. After a night at Arthur Avenue, I’ve found a spot to enjoy live music, beers, and wings.

A freind of mine set up this reunion with a bunch of us and we were surposed to get half price drinks until 10. When we got there they had no idea what we were talking about. Seems the owner made adeal with this friend of mine but told nobody who was working there that night. Great way to run a business I thought but I was sure they would still give us the deal. No go the lady acting as if I was lying. So we all paid funn price and got no deal at all. Actualy this place was not bad and I lioked the corwd and the band and the food was not bad so all in all I would have come back. But since the owner does not seem to care about honoring his promises I as well as all our crowd will not go back.

This was one of the worst dining experiences I’ve had in a while. The only way this place is going to stay open is due to half price drinks at the bar during happy hour and the fact it’s near the LIRR train station. We showed up here on our way home from work for an early dinner on a weeknight — it was probably about 4 or 4:30 so it was early. When we arrived we were shown to a table in the corner in the main bar area(which we normally don’t mind). We each ordered a mixed drink — both seemed very weak in the alcohol department — but it was happy hour I guess. Our server was a young guy — one of the nicest servers we’ve ever had. I ordered baked clams appetizer and a burger. My hubby ordered a soup and a sandwich(I think it was a french dip). The music playing over the stereo in the bar area was very loud. We asked the server if they could turn it down a little(mind you it was us and 3 guys sitting at the bar in the entire place). The server came out and said the manager said they can’t turn the music down but they could move us into the main dining room. The main dining room is a windowed room next to the bar area through two french doors. We sat there — alone — it was bizarre. No servers working there, no other diners, missing ceiling tiles, mildewy smell. Baked clams came out — it was 3 «tins» filled with stuffing and I assume clam meat. Hubbys soup was extremely salty. We then waited, and waited for our 2 sandwiches to come out. My burger was ok — a burger. My husband’s sandwich was good but seriously, this place isn’t worth the aggravation or wait for food when the restaurant is empty. A manager who can’t be bothered with addressing customers requests make it all the worse. Don’t waste your time people unless you want half price watered down drinks before hitting the LIRR into the city.

«Totally underwhelming» to take a quote from my friend with whom I went to Arthur Avenue. Strange crowd for a Saturday evening. Bar was crowded, very diverse crowd 20s-50s. Dining room mostly families with children, several couples. Ambience: dining room is a bit strange, tables are placed diagonally and are way too close together. Food: we had the sweet potato fries with marshmallow, nothing special, you could do this at home with no effort. Burgers were average. Fries are not steak fries as menu states. Guess we were expecting something a little more than stock bar-food, especially for a place with valet parking. Wouldn’t go back for food, might go back for drinks.

What a horrible experience. The food took over an hour to come out. It was three chicken sandwiches. What is the issue here? Our appetizer just never came. Every table around us got bread, we had to ask and got an attitude about it from the waitress. There must have not been enough servers because she seemed completely overwhelmed. Girls with their hair down were walking into the kitchen. Disgusting code violation. I won’t be back.

I’ve been home from college for about 2 years now, and it really sucks living at home. My friends and myself are always on the hunt for the next spot to to go and meet up after hours. Commuting home from the city really kills any chance of me making happy hours that end at 7, so I was pretty excited to see that happy hour went till 8. THEONLYREASON I’M GIVINGTHISPLACE A GENEROUS2STARSISBECAUSEOFTHEHALFOFFHAPPYHOUR. Now, the music was blasting in my ear, some 50 year old dude was hitting on me, and I was placed to eat dinner right under a BOOMING speaker, I couldn’t hear what was going on at the other end of the table. Then the food came, or should I say, and then the food NEVER came. We waited forever for some shitty, sloppy looking appetizer that looked like it was microwaved Costco food. I thought I was safe with a Panini, yea, that was another hunk of shit. I thought paninis were supposed to be grilled… but I guess the waiter thought it would be better if I got a sub. The most bland sandwich, a slap of chicken, lettuce and tomato, I could make something 10X better and just as simple. My other friend had a grilled veggie sub thing… it tasted like they hadn’t cleaned the grill all day. Final thought… I’m cheap, I’ll go back for some beer, but I’m sure as hell won’t go there hungry.

Nice place to grab a drink or dinner. Specials many nights of the week and frequent live entertainment inside and outside. Ok beer selection. Menu is heavy on Italian dishes but also a lot of sandwiches and appetizers. My steak sandwich was fine. Calamari was good but nothing really stood out about the food. Service was great, though so that gives this place an extra star. I like how the dining area is separated by a glass wall from the bar area, so you can have a conversation. Would definitely consider this a reliable place for nice, casual dining with friends.

I tried Arthur Avenue after purchasing a Groupon offer for $ 30 worth of food. I’m relatively new to the area, so I thought it would be a good way to try a new place. My boyfriend and I went on Friday night around 8 pm and it was pretty busy. All the tables outside were full, the bar was packed, and there was a live band setting up. Always a good sign. I felt like there was an odd mix of people. The majority of people seemed to be 40+ singles. They were blasting the music in the open seating area around the bar. Not only was it way too loud to sit and eat dinner, it was also music very unfitting for the atmosphere… think WBLI Top 40’s. The restaurant also seemed very casual and when the table is set with wine glasses, cloth napkins, and fancy bread/herbed butter/dipping oil, while nice, just set a different tone than the rest of the place. Dinner was okay. We split the sampler appetizer. It’s huge and definitely good for more than 2 people. Their beer options were very run of the mill. Seasonal specialty tap from local microbrews is definitely a hit these day, so I’d recommend having more options. I had an italian panini, which was very good and filling. My boyfriend had the lobster panini, which was not lobster but imitation crab. I don’t mind ‘seafood salad’, but don’t advertise it as lobster. We live on an island and generally know our seafood. They’re good for bar food and apparently have a decent happy hour. I’m not itching to go back and I’m glad I had a Groupon to lower my bill.

Came here for lunch with a friend and was pretty impressed. We chose to sit at the bar because, apparently, beers are half price during the worlds longest happy hour if you do so. Good deal. Great deal almost! We both ordered sandwiches and were both really happy with them. Pre-sandwiches, we were served rolls in a basket with fancy vegetable butter and a nice oil and balsamic vinegar mix on a plate. I like when you sit at the bar, but still get fancy things, so I was happy and so were my taste buds. Its unfortunate that there are so many 2pm sketch balls at bars because they kinda made the atmosphere a little less than it would have been otherwise, but that’s not really the restaurants fault. My only complaint is the parking lot, which is an annoying shape and is off of a one way street that sort of leads you to the train station. Also, when we pulled in there was a big truck unloading that blocked a good 60% of the lot. We actually had to wait for a spot and the whole maneuvering was a little rough. Good place though and especially good prices. I’d with I’d like to go back during dinner hours and sit in the actual restaurant part.

Good service, and some nice gems on the menu. It was a bit loud, but that’s not necessarily a bad thing. Our waiter was Richard, and I highly recommend him if you should go there. We got the Cheese Shots, which are balls of fried cheese with 6 different dipping sauces in shot glasses. Unique presentation. Our entrees came with soup or salad; I got a Caesar salad drenched in dressing, and my fiancée got a scrumptious lobster bisque. My entrée was a kind of boring penne pasta(but my fault; I shoulda known). The most exciting entrée was ordered by my fiancée, the General Tso’s Tuna, which came with 3 shrimp dumplings, sweet potato fries, and veggies. All this accompanied by a Malibu and pineapple(or, in my case, a glass of Chilean merlot), and you’ve got yourself a deal at about $ 30 a person. Also, they open at 12PM, not 12AM… that would be silly. Cheers!
