Traveled down route 7 last night for an early dinner. We had a Groupon that was expiring, so we decided to use it! Hostess was very personable, let us choose our table. The place is sectioned off quite nicely, so you have options based on preference. We started with some wine, my wife had a huge glass and I had a flight of three. The wine selection is crazy! For dinner, we chose the swordfish and beef dish w/asparagus. Both were very good! The service was slow, but I didn’t mind. It gave us a chance to relax and chat without the stress of having to give up our table to a waiting party. The music was a little weird, it changed from contemporary to Sinatra to classical Kanye covers, then back to Top 40. I thought that Sinatra fit perfectly(if anyone asked me :) Overall, it was a positive experience and I would certainly go back, if nothing else but the wine selection!

Tavolo was a nice place with decent food but the ambiance was a little off for me. I actually went there a few months ago, just behind in posting a review. Maybe it was just the day I went there, but I found the restaurant to be loud. Particularly where we were seated because it was the row of tables behind the bar so patrons waiting behind those seated at the bar were inevitably standing over you at your table. The double whammy was being seated across from the front door on a cold night, it was particularly chilly with the amount of times the door opened and closed. The service to me was a little slow and a bit behind. I feel this was more so because it was busy than an inattentive staff, but it was slow compared to other restaurants of similar size. The food was good, the veal was well cooked and tasted good as did the calamari. Neither was greasy which can happen with fried foods. Portions were what you would expect, not overwhelming or stingy either. Despite sharing a lot with another nearby establishment, parking was decent. Shouldn’t be too bad finding a spot. I wouldn’t rule out going back, but it didn’t leave an impression that made me want to return soon.

Nice atmosphere to start and strongish menu but unfortunately the quality was lacking. Unopened mussels and dried out ribeye made the night less than perfect. Later in the evening the pounding backbeat from the club next door was interesting. 5⁄11. Received very professional and courteous response from the owner. We will be sure to return and give it another go. So many positive reviews and a professional response makes me believe our experience may just have been a hiccup.

Was excited to go for my first time but that will also be my last. Seated at 6PM and the food came out at 7:20PM. The veal was tough, couldn’t cut it horrible. Telling the waitress that it wasn’t that good fell on deaf ears. Horrible service, sub shop quality food. With Siena and Trattoria Romano in town why would I ever go back there. Train your staff management.

Great entrees and atmosphere, only 3 stars due to cold bread. Would expect a restaurant of this caliber to serve warm bread.

Came out to eat with my two other friends, The service was good and our waiter was very nice. The manager came over and made a rude comment to my friend and made us all feel very uncomfortable. The food was mediocre, my pasta made my mouth feel chalky. The 1 star was for the dipping oil for the bread. Other than that, I won’t be returning.

Three and a half. So wanted to love this new spot but they have a few kinks to work out before I’m ready to return. Nothing threat can’t be fixed, however. The remodel looks great! I was impressed by the new atmosphere, especially in he bar area. Great wine list with tons of choices by the glass. The menu is similar to d. Carlo which was always great — although I often struggle with the appetizers. With wine, I don’t always want something fried. We settled on the fried risotto balls which were very good. They were big and quite filling. DH got the chicken parm which he liked and had enough to bring home. I ordered the grilled chicken pizza. It was way bigger than I expected! I was hoping for the thin crust to be crispy, but it was pretty chewy. I love a good grilled pizza but this one seemed off — perhaps because of the weight of the chicken. So… The parts that will keep me away for a while had to do with the service. The hostesses were great. But our server was so unfriendly and unhappy. We had to ask her for a lot of things. A lot. Do you have any specials? Can we order an appetizer before you leave? May we please have bread(like all of the other tables)?(Their dipping oil is awesome, btw). May he have a bread plate or do we just get one? Will you please take our dirty appetizer plates while you are here? No? Okay. How nice of another serve to feel bad and take them for you. May we have a knife? No both of us. I would like a knife, too. I think that was it. That and the check being dropped off before we were done. And it was early — like 8:30 maybe. So, not a very relaxing dinner. But the potential is there. It is so close to my home and work so I’m hoping the service will improve.

I tried this place for lunch and was pleasantly surprised by the options. There was a lunch menu as well as the«specials» which were inclusive of three courses(soup, lunch entrée, dessert) to choose from for a reasonable $ 14.95. We opted not to do the specials and share from the menu. I love trying the bread baskets from restaurants as much as the next person does. Sometimes it’s disappointing and stale or flavorless and at other times it’s on point, as is the accompaniment. In this case, the bread was very good Italian bread thickly sliced with a bottle of roasted red pepper infused oil. Delish and also one of the many battles of trying not to get full before the meal comes. The food was good as well. We shared a Cobb-like salad but with shrimp. It had butter lettuce which is a favorite of mine and they also split it for us. The second course was the veggie wrap which was tasty, it was served on what looked like a small wooden carving board so points for presentation. The wrap portion was interesting and I wouldn’t be surprised if they used the pizza shell from their grilled pizzas for the wrap.

I am new to the area so cannot compare Tavolo’s to the previous restaurant D. Carlos. This review is strictly based upon our recent visit. I had a Groupon that was about to expire so we made a reservation for Friday at 6:30. The parking lot was an issue, still some unplowed parking spots and definitely not enough spaces for the 4 restaurants in this strip mall. But that is not their fault, more of a logistics since we had to park pretty far away and it was freezing! We were early, but seated promptly. The inside is very pleasing and although very open the noise from other guests is not overwhelming. We were able to have normal dinner conversation. The wine list is extensive, although I usually stick to my favorites. And my boyfriend was pleased with the beer selection. We started with the meat and cheese board. It is on the pricey side but the quality is worth it and more than enough for two to share. I had the scallops with their seasonal mushroom risotto. The scallops were cooked perfectly! Caramelized on the outside, must be the bacon fat they cook them in. He had the braised short ribs and claimed it melted in his mouth. Crème brûlée is our go-to dessert and this one did not disappoint! The food and service were fantastic! The restaurant was a great find for us, especially considering we didn’t have to go into the city! We will be back!

I came here with my boyfriend for dinner on a Friday, coincidentally it was Providence Restaurant Week(s). That being said, the place was understandably extremely busy. It was quite loud; the waiting area was completely full, as was the bar. We were definitely the youngest customers in the restaurant. The host initially ignored us upon arrival. I got the feeling that we were profiled as just being there for the restaurant week deal, and that we weren’t going to spend any money. And then despite having reservations, we had to wait to be seated. Our server was polite, but you could tell she was«in the weeds» with the number of tables she had. Service was a bit delayed, but no overall issues. We ordered the charcuterie board to start. Not that impressed. It could have been an off night, but for the price, the value wasn’t there for me. We both got the swordfish special for entrees, large portions, and it was delicious. I give three stars because the food was tasty, our server did try, and the wine/beer list has lots of options. I’d like to try this place again, maybe for lunch.

I was a big fan of this place when it was D. Carlo’s, except for the fact that they weren’t open on Sundays. They have re-branded themselves and are open on Sundays now too, hooray! The inside of the restaurant and the menu haven’t really changed. We went on a Saturday night with a reservation for 20 people, but still had to wait a bit. When we were seated, we were a bit dismayed to see that they split us up into 3 different tables. Someone in our party spoke to the manager to say how she really would prefer one long table, and they happily obliged. The bread with spicy olive oil to start is always delicious. I decided to go with the tomato basil soup, which was delicious, but was a a big portion that I couldn’t even finish as I didn’t want to ruin my appetite for my meal. It was on the sweeter side and thick, almost like eating tomato sauce with a spoon, but still very tasty. I got the prosciutto wrapped cod. It’s an interesting dish, a piece of cod wrapped in prosciutto(well, obviously) atop a clam chowder with fingerling potatoes and a small leek salad on the side. It was quite delicious, my only complaint is they could use a thinner piece of prosciutto, a thick slice of it is always chewy so I didn’t really enjoy that part of it. I would still order the dish again though. For a large party I have to say the service was very attentive and much quicker than I thought. Appetizers and entrees were brought out promptly, as were drink refills. At the end the waitress gave everyone a separate check which is always big points in my book. If you liked D. Carlo’s, definitely check them out since it’s pretty much the same.

Ate dinner here on a Sunday night. It was not very busy and the service left for much to be desired. It took the hostess atleast 10 minutes to even acknowledge us. Once we were seated the waitress did not even greet us for atleast 15 minutes. We asked for bread 3x before it was finally brought to the table. I ordered a margarita with salt. When I got my drink, 20 minutes later, it did not have salt although it was very strong. The food took very long to arrive. My bf ordered the frutti da mare and said it was very good. I had the chicken parmesan and it was ok. The atmosphere is very nice. I think this restaurant has potential if they can sync their waitstaff and the kitchen.

I am updating my review due to the fact the owner took time to not only respond, but also took corrective actions that night. As I stated, the hostess was extremely nice and the atmosphere was perfect. My wife and I will go back to give them another chance. If the food is as good as the atmosphere, I’m sure we’ll be happy. Again, I am pleased to see owners who care enough to respond and react. Thank you. I will update my review again after we have chance to try the food.

Food was not to my expectations. Service was awful. They actually brought the bread over with my meal. I could go on and on. but all I can say is thank god for Groupon! Maybe Denee and Carlo should’ve stayed a little longer!

I took my team here today for lunch. The atmosphere was wonderful, relaxed but refined. The staff was attentive but not intrusive. The appetizers: calamari with assorted peppers, and sausage with broccoli rabe were divine. The entrees were out of this world: 2 chicken parmesans, one veal parmesan, and one seared scallops with peppers, broccoli rabe over homemade pasta. We were in awe of the size of our meals, how beautiful they were plated and how delicious each one was. This restaurant is a gem… I will be going back for lunch on a regular basis. Perfectly delightful.

We were very impressed with our meals. The veal chop was simply perfect and outstanding. We will definitely return. My only suggestion is to improve the bread which was cold and surprising when the rest of the meal was superb. We had a minor problem when we received our bill and were charged for the larger glass of wine when(we thought) we requested the smallest… when inquiring with our server the problem was simply blown off and not dealt with. A minor glitch in an otherwise lovely restaurant.

This restaurant has rebranded itself to a wine bar and Tuscan restaurant. Wine bar I see as their wine menu is extensive. But Tuscan? Tuscan is about simple Italian comfort food. There are some items on the menu that enter that realm but overall, the menu is exactly the same as D. Carlo’s menu. The sign outside is more like a typical strip mall sign — it looks like«Twine» instead of «T wine…» I honestly liked the D. Carlo sign better. So down to the food. Generic cold bread — I’m glad they kept the spicy oil but serve it with some warm, crusty bread! A crostini, perhaps? A large part of Tuscan cuisine is bread! Mussels — solid broth and came with grilled bread to dip. Some of the mussels were rubbery. Scallops — supposed to come with pumpkin risotto with pumpkin seeds and greens but no seeds or greens were found. The risotto was okay — more Parmesan than pumpkin and it wasn’t mixed well. However the scallops were seared perfectly. «Simply Fish» with Salmon: pan seared salmon that had a nice crunchy outer layer. Well cooked. Came with mashed potatoes and asparagus. Braised Pulled chicken with gnocchi — hearty dish but a little too much salt. One of the few times my hubby didn’t finish his dish. And he didn’t have lunch that day. French press — on menu but they don’t have it yet. Mango sorbet — meh. Didn’t really taste like mango. They’re still renovating and working out kinks. Not the best dining experience. It was simply okay.

Went in for dinner the other night(after some the renovations have been done) and WOW! Place is really starting to live up to par with the great food on the menu! The décor is tasteful and the new bar, in my opinion, looks so much better than the old one. The location does throw you off a bit but its food is really why you come. Marissa, our waitress, was polite, attentive and had a great knowledge of the menu and even suggested a great wine to pair with my delicious chicken dish(with a side caesar salad and I’m in heaven!) This place is a great option for a quite meal or great to bring relatives and family for a «fancier» Italian meal! Will be back soon!

Love the new look — Can’t wait for summer to see what the outside will be like. Love some of the items from the old menu. Few items I think are priced a bit too high.

Food was delicious, service was a disgrace. My interaction after leaving a Facebook review was ignorant. I am extremely disappointed to say the least.

This used to be D Carlo’s which I loved… And the great news is(drum roll, please), they’ve kept the menu!!! The chopped salad is something I’d punch kittens to eat(if that was the requirement, I’m saying) and the wine menu is decent. They have plenty of other food items that are also insanely delicious– risotto balls are another addictive one. Service is friendly and fairly quick, as well. The new décor is rustic meets romantic. It’s interesting and maybe a little over the top for my tastes, as I preferred D Carlos simple décor. However, it does give it a more«fancy» vibe which perhaps it needs being in the building/location that it is in. I do like the outdoor wording on the walls, it catches your eye. Overall, you MUST give this place a try. It’s an unexpected treasure lurking behind a 7 Eleven. And like I said, chopped salad is amaze balls. Give it a try! You won’t regret it!
