Ted Chaffee, DDS

This office is great! My husband and I have been coming to Dr. Chaffee for years. This year I switched our dentist to another office in the community because they offered weekend hours. Bad decision! the dentist we ended us going to was charging us extra fees, refused to provide us the covered services by our insurance, and did not perscribe any medication. I called Dr. Chaffee’s office and they got my husband in right away and provided him all the care he needed. Never going anywhere else!

He and the staff are very pleasant and friendly. It’s easy to get an appointment as I go for my cleaning there twice a year.

I can only speak from experience, and my experience was less than expected.
My son had a major issue with two impacted and infected wisdom teeth. They were causing him a great deal of pain. Not discomfort, PAIN!
An appointed was scheduled to have them surgically extracted by a dental surgeon on Friday Jan 27^th 2012, but the staff ay Chaffee’s office failed to forward the authorization paperwork /​scan to the dental surgeon, so when we arrived on Friday for the appointment they couldn’t do the procedure until the following Tuesday. I guess they were too busy planning their 3 day weekend.
So, without the authorization from the dental insurance, so my son had to suffer throughout the weekend until the following Tuesday to have the surgery done.
Dr Chaffee’s office is closed on Fridays, and no one answered the emergency number. So my son had to suffer. It’s not that I wouldn’t have paid cash, but they needed the authorization to proceed due to legal issues.
Have you ever seen your child have to suffer needlessly because of someone’s incompetency?
That’s only the tip of the iceberg. I could go into detail about the level of service I have received at this office, but you would more than likely not believe me.
They talked me into crowning a cracked molar, and it still causes me shooting pain every time I bite down. It was an endless procession of incompetency.
Bottom line?
Don’t go there.
The only reason I’m giving two stars is as not to be flagged for a false report.
I will gladly answer any rebuttals for this review as the truth is always the best defense.

I have gone to Dr. Chaffee for over 15 years. He is thorough, gentle, honest, and always brings a smile to my face. His staff are attentive and helpful. Every visit I’ve made has been pleasant. It’s unfortunate that the negative reviews reflect anything but the truth, for I plan to stay with Dr. Chaffee, so long as he practices.

I liked this dentist when I first walked in. it had an old feeling to it. Like going to Grandma & Grandpas house. It wasn’t until I got my bill that it turned ugly. I had a bad back molar from my uninsured years. They said it needed a crown and a post. $ 300 of the post was not paid for by insurance so I would have to pay that out of pocket.
(along with some other expenses) on my next visit they informed me that they put two post in my tooth and I owed them more money. They didn’t tell me about the second post and it was already in my mouth. To make a long story short I had to file a grievance with the dental board to get my money back. (they also found more «upgrades» that were done without my consent)
Its like going to a mechanic to get your tires rotated… and they replace the brakes with out asking only to bill you twice as much.
Don’t go to a dentist were wifey does the billing.
