Among the handful of self-appointed«real Mexican food» joints in Summit County, Carniceria La Perla is one of two in my opinion that can actually claim that title. Simple, authentic food makes this market/restaurant a regular stop for apres ski taco binges. As a San Diego native, I’m pleased to confirm that bomb tacos do in fact exist in the Rockies. Two bucks a pop and filled with proteins like asada, pollo, and carnitas topped with onion and cilantro wrapped in a warm corn tortilla will set you straight. Like other reviews have mentioned, avoid the burrito as it will self deconstruct leaving you with a scene messier than Luke Skywalker inside the tauntaun’s guts. Also recommended: Shop the market to take home ingredients for your own Top Chef taco throw down!

So I have been here a couple times and the food is really consistent. The first time I had a breakfast burrito with chorizo. It was ginormous! Very tasty. The second time I had the four tacos for $ 8. Really good carne asada taco and the salsa bar was good too with cilantro, onions, and other goodies. I would say the only complaint is that the price is the same as a full service sit down Mexican restaurant and you don’t get chips and salsa or the service you would get at a traditional restaurant. Other than that it is cooked to order and always fresh! If you are looking for real Mexican food in the silverthorne area look no further. Great food with no frills atmosphere. Enjoy!

The food is amazing! Wonderful salsa and great beans, rice, and burrito! My burrito was perfect. Directions however from Unilocal were not accurate. The directions put you at Target and that is not accurate at all. It’s in a strip mall past the Nepal Restaurant.

After a day of skiing or hiking around Vale or Glennwood area, take a detour and stop at La Perla on your way back to Denver. You won’t be disappointed the price is great, the staff is friendly(they’ll work with your broken Spanish don’t be shy to practice), and the food speaks for itself. 4 tacos for $ 8! Mix and match carne asada, barbacoa, lengua and tripa. Personally I think the barbacoa beats the rest. If you like sweets and candies from Mexico — this place has you covered. Do yourself a favor and have an Inca Kola(peruvian soda — of the gods!) with your meal. You may have to go for a full on cleanse to put your system back on track, but hey you’ll leave full, smiling, and ready for a nap.

No frills but great food. I ordered the carne asada tacos which came with 4 tacos(on 8 corn tortillas). They were served with nothing but the meat and tortillas. However they have a salsa bar with cilantro, lime, and various relishes and garnishes. The tacos were very good and infinitely better than any of the other Hispanic food I’ve had in Summit County. Finally some heat! The other reviews are correct in that this isn’t the cleanest or most sterile restaurant. What do you expect though! It’s a taco stand inside a market/butcher shop!

This place has good reviews? What?! They treated me like a freak when they took my order. They were super nervous and wouldn’t look me in the eye. My burrito completely fell apart the second I picked it up(see picture). My fiancé went back to get another burrito for me, and he watched the woman prepare it. Someone else told her that she rolled it the wrong way, and she was all«So? Give it to him anyway.» I ended up having to eat the new burrito with a fork and knife in the car because it – you guessed it – fell apart again. The beans were awful. They tasted like canned refried beans. Because of their terrible customer service, I won’t be back.

I have ate here five or six times. I have always been the only none Mexican in there. Staff are nice and friendly. The food is good but nothing fantastic. You order the food at the counter they call you up when ready and you pick it up in a paper plate. But you do pay full price like a Mexican restaurant with real plates and silverware plus chips & salsa. Last time I had a sandwich, Steak Torta with a coke, $ 10.23.

The address listed on Unilocal is incorrect! It shows on the map it is in the town of Heeney on Green Mountain Reservoir, it is not! It is in Silverthorne!

Best mexican joint in the county if you are into authentic food. I more eat mexican in a casual lunch situation rather than going out to dinner for it and would recommend this place for such a situation. The staff barely speaks english and i dont know spanish but are friendly, helpful and really sell a quality product.

Best Real Mexican food in the county! Absolutely delicious in every way! Super friendly staff. Great place to get those hard to find Mexican novelties. Also a bonus is the liquor store which is the same owners but because of CO law, is technically next store. I would recommend this place to any and all!

A restaurant inside a Mexican grocery /butchery, that’s promising enough. When I realized that I was not only the solo gringo, but also the only non construction worker sitting down to eat, I knew I could expect real Mexican. Tacos are excellent(Carne asada, lengua, tripas), so is quesadilla. Pupusas of several varieties were on the non-regular handwritten menu, I had to give it a try and was really glad I did. Excellent value! Note the address is 1161 Blue River parkway, not Blue Ridge as displayed by my GPS.
