We were a reasonably small group of six men with a reservation on a Saturday night. Despite being mostly empty, the tables weren’t ready. So, there’s a wait and confusion as they figure out how to do this. While there Neplai items, it’s mostly familiar Indian cuisine. A near twist is much if the food is raised on their farm in Denton, Maryland. It’s approaching farm to table which is a popular restaurant trend these days. While our server was gracious, she was inexperienced. Drinks came slowly., appetizers even more slowly. Entrees arrived more than an hour later. You can only blame the server for a few things. The problem here is the kitchen and how it’s managed. Either there are menu items that are too labor intensive that result in huge slow downs or there are too many menu items that require individual preparation. It’s an ambitious menu, and while mine was good I wouldn’t have objected to a simpler menu, a few specials that encourage diners to popular, more easily prepared items. We were there for three hours, which is not good for a restaurant. The goal should be go flip the tables in 90 minutes or less.

This food is okay and isn’t a match for the wait. The waiters are not a trained restaurant staff and will leave your requests unanswered of delayed. I post this in hopes that they get quicker qnd more responsive with customers requests

Great restaurant for a quiet dinner with friends or family. Delicious and authentic Nepali food. Wonderful staff and service. Nice surroundings … Low pressure.

The food is amazing here! I love their chicken tikka masala, it melts into your mouth. The naan bread is amazing and so fresh. The momo, which can be chicken or vegetable, is very tasteful and spicy. Their soups are really nice, especially the lentil soup. They have well made vegetable samosas, which are to die for. This place is wonderful! Very relaxing, not noisy. This place is great for a date, business meetings, catering, and for family.

The lunch buffet is phenomenal! Hardly to believe they serve lamb, chicken, beans and so many more only at $ 9.99. I would recommend their lamb and dessert during the lunch time. This place is not crowed at all, instead a lot of empty tables. Maybe i am the only few meat lovers in downtown Silver Spring.

Three starts because service was not good at all. They fill your water cup up once then never fill up until you get up and ask for it again. Also they were no napkins on table or given. Food it self was decent but they gotta step up their spice game. The restaurant can be great if they serve you more professionally.

So I echo the sentiments of the others: listen to the reviews! Went for the lunch buffet and was underwhelmed. There were literally 6 things on the menu, and as a vegetarian that made my options very slim. The saag paneer was watery with no cheese mixed in, and the rice was hard. I have been to Indian restaurants with a much better buffet selection for the same price. The three stars are given because the customer service was good, and the personal basket of naan was nice. Silver Spring definitely needs a substantial Indian restaurant where folks are well fed and well satisfied.

This place is Naan for me! Lol! I will start with saying I like the table décor. Unfortunately, I didn’t care for the service. It was slow, especially considering we were there on a Thursday evening and there were just a few other customers in the restaurant. We ordered tikka masala, chicken curry and naan. It took more than 30 minutes to get only the 1st portion of our food. He brought out curry lamb instead of curry chicken, and when we mentioned that we ordered the chicken he didn’t really believe us. He went over to the register to see what was ordered. Ummm HELLO! We, the customers, just explained to you what we ordered. After he confirms at the register that it was curry chicken he then goes to the back and brings us out curry chicken. When he dropped off the curry chicken he says he would bring out the naan later. Ummmmmm! Why was the naan the last thing to come out. The naan wasn’t that bad, but the curry wasn’t as flavorful as I expected and it was too watery. The tikka masala was a bit too creamy(if that makes sense) and the texture of the chicken just seemed strange. Like almost not cooked enough. So the BANGER for me during this dining experience was when I saw our waiter sneeze directly into both of his hands and continued to serve. He touched the register then picked up the water pitcher and proceeds over to us to refill our water. NOTHANKYOU! I can’t do uncleanliness. We will NOT being visiting this restaurant again.

Okay, I had my last interaction with this place. I used to like them, although they’re bit expensive. But lately, their food service has been way below par. Placed an order for pickup at 6:45p, drove there at 7:45p, paid, was told that food was not ready. Gave them the benefit of the doubt that it takes time to pack food. They asked to wait another 1 min and another 1 min and another until it became more like 10 min wait. They don’t have parking and standing outside the restaurant is not allowed. I had my blinkers on thinking it will be a min. When asked, they say one of your four orders is being cooked. That was the last straw. Can’t risk getting ticketed over your dismal service. I cancelled my order, called it quits, and would never recommend this place to anyone. Totally unacceptable.

Nice place! Chicken Tikka Masala was very good. And I love that they put your food over a small candle, to keep it hot. Really want to return at lunch to try the buffet.

I placed an order on Unilocal with EAT24 today. The estimated delivery time was 60 minutes. I called the restaurant at around 60 mins and they said that the driver had just left and that we were first in line to get our food. Half an hour and a crying baby later, we still didn’t have our food. We got our food a full 90 – 100 minutes after we placed the order. We were hoping that our wait would be worth it but the saag paneer was bland. The paneer was tough. Harder than the chicken even. The chicken tikka masala was ok, just the standard deal. The aloo paratha didn’t taste good either. The cream of tomato soup was good. So overall, a horrendous delivery experience and bland food. I just wasted around $ 50 and they’ve lost a potential long term customer primarily due to the delivery issue.

Good food, exceedingly slow service. It’s been 40 minutes and our tea has not yet arrived. Restaurant is not full. Edit: food came out slightly cold.

We went to Ghar-E-Kabab a long time ago, and unless my memory is mistaken I remember I had a Nepalese thali that I really enjoyed. On that occasion, the server took the time to explain each little dish. On our more recent visit I tried the non-vegetarian thali and I was not impressed by it or anything else my party ordered(chicken vindaloo, Ghar-e-Kabab platter). The vindaloo was not very spicy and didn’t seem to have much/any tomato in the sauce so the overall effect was bland and watery. Palak(saag) paneer was one of the dishes in my thali and it was frankly bad. I didn’t try my husband’s grilled combo, but they were out of shrimp and asked if it was ok to substitute grilled paneer – which is ok, no doubt Snowzilla has messed with deliveries/inventory, but I think they should have knocked a couple bucks off the $ 27 price if they have to substitute something expensive like jumbo shrimp with something relatively inexpensive like paneer. To top it all off, the kitchen was quite slow(on a Thursday night), and although they have two dining rooms they seated all the sit-down traffic in the room by the door and the carry-out traffic coming in and out made for a cold, drafty atmosphere. All in all, a very sub-par dining experience. Bombay Gaylord was only every just a middling Indian restaurant, but they beat this place hands down and I hope they reopen at some point just because it’s nice to have a decent Indian place that’s right in the neighborhood.

Reasonably good Indian food, but if you want spicy, look elsewhere. I’ve ordered Vindaloo from here a few times, and each time I begged them to make it spicier than the last, but after 6 or 7 attempts, it never even approached the proper levels of heat, so I’ve given up ordering this dish. If you want Indian food with minimal spice, such as a Chicken Tikka Masala, Ghar-e-Kabab is acceptable. But stay away from anything that requires more spice, such as Vindaloo or even Biryani, as the chefs do not seem to be able to do these dishes justice

Absolutely vile. Incredibly ill from food borne illness. As all other food sources I eat are highly controlled, this is the only source of contamination. Strong possibility of illness that starts with an N and recently impacted Chipotle customers. Be forewarned.

I go there once in a while during the day. Its a decent place I’d recommend to have a nice Indian lunch in downtown Silver-spring. The grilled chicken is good!

I was really hoping to like this food. We ordered some Indian dishes, tikka masala, saag, and a few others delivered. I didn’t expect it to be great but it was really bad. The sauces were thin and the little meat that was in the meals was gristly. On top of that it was really expensive. I really hate to give bad reviews but I hope this will help the owners work to improve. If you have hankering for Indian food go to Jewel of India which is the best of the best. The owners of Ghar-E-Kabab should check it out too and maybe learn something.

We went for the lunch buffet on a Wednesday, priced 11 $ per person. The food is mostly vegetarian, as expected, with two types of chicken. The first was butter chicken which was very sweet, but the tandoori chicken was good. The remaining dishes were average but no so spicy. The rice putting was simply rice and milk, no flavor. Over all, the setting was OK and servers were around. The bathroom wasn’t clean and needed much repairs. Although the price is reasonable compared to other Indian restaurants, the quality of the food was sub par, and the bathroom isn’t fit for regular use.

This delish eatery serves up signature tasty curries, each dish with its’ own special flavor. It is located on Wayne, in the heart of downtown SS. I have only used their delivery but would like to sit at their outdoor seating sometime and try dining in. Their portions are generous, you will not be disappointed! I highly recommend their garlic flavored Naan-Indian flatbread, you can forego utensils and eat like a native by using the bread to scoop little bites into your mouth! The best dishes I’ve had here are the yellow chicken curry, matar paneer, beghan bertha and chicken tikka masala. Their lamb rogan josh does not disappoint if you are into that. They also have samosas and pakora which were pretty average. Try them out and enjoy!

Butter chicken and tikka looked and tasted the same. Samosas were greasy and tasteless. No salt. No flavor. No thank you.
