I have liked The Boneyard Bistro for years now. It’s like this out of place restaurant that doesn’t belong where it is but people, including me, are very happy it’s there. When you think of upscale Ventura Blvd. dining, BBQ is probably not on your radar screen. But, The Boneyard is exactly that — upscale Ventura Blvd. dining. Everything they make from starters to salads to entrees to sides to deserts, all seem to work and all are very good. I don’t go there often although it’s always on my mind when my wife is working and I’m solo. There is no better place to go and grab a bar stool and order some Q with a great draft beer and watch sports on their HiDef TV’s. The reason I don’t go there that often is an OCD thing I have with Velet Parking. I know! I live in L.A. and valet parking is part of the deal, but I hate other people driving my car. And in the Bistro ’ s section of Sherman Oaks there is rarely a meter available. Parking aside, The Boneyard is the real deal and I like it. Mabel Über is the answer?

If you like mediocre food that costs more than it should then this is the place for you. Came in tonight with my little sister to grab a bite. We weren’t too hungry so we split a 3 meat dinner plate & ordered an extra side of cole slaw with no drinks. The ribs were bland, brisket was dry, & the fried mac n cheese was gross(which is crazy for me to say because I love Mac n cheese). There is nothing authentic about this bbq & is probably overpriced because it’s on Ventura Blvd. Dinner came out to $ 45 including tip for one dinner order that was extremely subpar. Service was fine, food was disappointing though. If you’re looking for real BBQ that tastes good without having to pour bbq over everything, I would suggest Mom’s BBQ in Van Nuys. Definitely more of a hole in the wall vibe but your stomach and wallet will thank you for it.

Came here with my boyfriend on a Monday night around 6:00PM and we got an excellent server by wasn’t too sure of his name but he was nice. The food was delicious. The prices are also great. Will be back again

Definitely worth the visit. If you want good beer or specialty drink they have a large selection of spirits! GOOD Ribs! If you are a foodie willing to explore new options you will never be disappointed! The Bone Marrow was good!

Went here for the first time yesterday night and sadly it wasn’t as amazing as many of the reviews are claiming. I agree with every review that says their service is great, it really is. Our waiter was very friendly and attentive and the rest of the staff who we interacted with where so friendly also! I also agree with every review that said the food is overpriced for the quality, it is. I got a combo plate of the beef ribs(wet) and the fatty brisket with fried mac and cheese and beans. The beef ribs where such a let down, they had barely any meat on the bone and they where not wet at all. They did give sauce on the side which was good. The meat was very tough, as if overdone. The fatty brisket was good. I feel if it wasn’t for the fat keeping it juicy it wouldn’t of been as good so definitely get the fatty one if getting it. The fried Mac and cheese was fine, nothing special, and the beans where very delicious! I would choose one of their other sides over the fried Mac and cheese. My bf got their classic burger which truly was a damn good burger, very flavorful and very juicy. He had fries which where tasty and a side of coleslaw. Their coleslaw is different and more sour but delicious. My friend got the tri tip which was cooked perfectly to medium rare but still wasn’t that amazing flavor wise and he agreed. He also got the baby back ribs which the meat was dry and tough. The burger as brisket I feel where the only things fully worth the price. I definitely wouldn’t come back for the barbecue but maybe for the burger!

Burger okay. Fresh & quality burger but nothing special. Definitely not worth $ 18. Asparagus was light green and flimsy & bland smh. Fried Mac normal, nothing special. My bill was $ 27. NOTWORTHIT. id never go back. I can cook a better meal at home. Wendy’s or chic fi la is better than this place. Id never go back. However, the cornbread muffins were tasty.

seating can be a bit awkward. They need shades for the patio against the sun. Service was amazing. The Ribs were Top. Coke Zero is an insult to every Dt Code addict. Can I get the wet Ribs with the sauce baked/caramelized on the bone? what’s the deal with the skeletons? They can keep the theme with Bull Skulls and food references to a boneyard. just my 2 cents. It can put off some.

Parking is difficult so they offer valet for like $ 6. Best to call ahead and get a table for dinner. We lucked out and sat on the covered patio with heater. Big book of beers etc. Hubby was happy with seeing Russian river on menu but they ran out. Means we have to come back. Waitress Andrea was on point with recommendations and refills. Good service from start to finish. Bread basket was great. Loved the corn muffins. We shared a half order of onion rings. Big rings to share and dip in yummy chipotle sauce. He had the classic burger very good. I had the three meat plate. Loved the brisket, pulled pork and tri tip. The baked beans were so tasty. Fried mac and cheese were excellent but I still prefer the real Mac and cheese. The pulled pork was so tender and mixed with a little coleslaw and sauce. No room for dessert this visit. Had to take my leftovers home(super rare since I usually clean my plate but it was good portions on everything).

Not your typical BBQ joint; it’s a modern, hip restaurant, with a full bar with an enormous whiskey/bourbon/rye selection. Great place to hang with friends. The appetizers are creative(«beef chili filled donuts» and«steak filled spring roll»). The baked beans were a definite winner. You’ll never be searching for help — on a busy Saturday night waiters and busboys were everywhere. This is why they have a 4-star rating. BUT, THESTAROFTHESHOW, THEBBQ… WASJUSTAVERAGE. The smoked pork ribs had no smoked flavor(was there any wood in that smoker, were they smoked for hours? — doubtful). The grilled beef ribs had no flavor, and came with a bland sauce. Would I come here to hang with some friends for drinks and some apps? Sure. But if you’ve got a hunger for BBQ, that’s what you’re going out for, skip Boneyard Bistro.

Damn good burger! The Nuff Said burger is just that, there’s nothing else to talk about! Just eat! The patty is tender and juicy and perfectly grilled if you order it medium rare. I don’t advise ordering it well done. The service, décor, ambiance, and all that other stuff is set to make this a great chill spot for a date or a night out with friends. Don’t know much about the parking situation cause I found a spot at a meter with about an hour left. New time I go back, I’ll think I’ll try a salad or something different. If the other items are as good as the Nuff Said, I’ll be a regular.

I thought the Holy Cow was innovative! This place is elegant AND country! Something I thought was impossible(possibly thanks to visiting my Fox News watching family recently) It’s as if Al Gore had won the election in here. It’s as if Outlaw Country was being played on the radio instead of the saccharine corporate country pop dreck. This is what real Southern sophistication in a modern setting should be like. This isn’t a Ted Cruz kinda place. It ain’t a Kenney Chesney kinda place. It’s a real man’s kinda place. Highly recommend the Boneyard Devil Eggs, and thanks to Danny for being an ambassador of simple yet refined culinary goodness; this place has got a bar, and it’s not low brow. But jeans are acceptable. Jeans and diamonds.

Really delicious pulled pork sandwich tucked perfectly into the perfect bun… A lot of perfection happening. Really enjoyed the fried mac & cheese, the beer selection is LARGE, and the atmosphere is decent. Servers were busy, but very efficient. 3.5−4 stars.

The BBQ nachos were pretty good, but the Brisket was amazing! Both were huge servings. The brisket was prepared perfectly and flavored perfectly. It’s too much for one person to eat(in my opinion), but two people can certainly share it. From my memory, the tables next to the bar have stools with small backs. The booth obviously have seat backs for everyone.

4 stars ONLY because the draft beer wasn’t as cold as we would have liked. 38° which is standard, but on a 105 degree day I want icicles in my beer lol This place is great. We went on a Saturday afternoon around 3:30 pm not too busy. The bartender was great answered all our questions. There wasn’t a ton of appatizers, but enough to snack on. We split the wedge salad which was to die for. I would eat a whole bowl of their home made Blu cheese dressing if they offered it… great portion to split. Then we split the OMG burger 5oz with fries and was not disappointed. We even had had to take some home it was so big. Great atmosphere, great beer selection, reasonable prices. We got outta there with 4 drinks, a burger and salad for under $ 70AND we ate it yhe next day. Will definitely be returning.

I’ve been here a few times now and a review is long over due. The service is always on point here, the staff is always attentive and even thought they are packed, they try and accommodate you as quickly as possible. Never been disappointed with food. I’ve had the sausage, brisket, beef ribs, pork ribs, Mac n cheese, collard greens, and the corn bread. Very well done! They have a very extensive beer menu, ask the bartender or server for recommendations. They also make a mean Manhattan! I’ve had the pleasure to come here for my birthday this year and had a great time. The only thing I did not like was their dessert. I think I had their fig beignets, it was kinda burnt and dry. But the BBQ, ambience, and drink menu make up for it. It’s a little pricey but worth it.

Do you like that finger lickin’ oh so good kinda food? Well this spot is it. BBQ baby! I came here on a Monday and they had a fried chicken special as well as all beers are ½ off. The tri tip, beef ribs, and brisket are oh so delicious juicy and tender. Since fried chicken is their Monday special, we decided to try that as well. The Mac and cheese tots are good too. So is the baked beans and cole slaw and sides. I have yet to try other food on the menu. The only downfall about this place is the price. It’s a bit on the pricier side for a BBQ spot. I assume it’s pricy because it’s on Ventura blvd and they’ve been there since 2005. If price isn’t a requirement, then go ahead and give this place a shot!

***Appetizer: Boneyard’s Famous House Cured & Double Hickory Smoked Bacon Sticks: really good, different… i also really liked the crispy onions on the side, bacon could have used some more sauce though. ***Libations: *Pineapple Gin Fizz(Martin Millers Gin, Fresh Pineapple Syrup, Lemon, Egg White, Velvet Falernum & Soda): I had a taste and it was very strong… I didn’t taste any pineapple flavor *Flavored flight(beer): i don’t remember the names of the 3 beers i got, but the flavors were coffee + vanilla, coffee + ??? i don’t remember, and a raspberry one. I couldn’t really taste the difference between the two beers that were coffee flavored because the coffee flavor was so strong, but I didn’t mind it cause i love coffee. the raspberry one was way too tart for my liking, but my boyfriend liked it. He said it tasted bright and fresh… i relinquished it to him ***Three Way Combo(any 3 meats): –Santa Maria Red Oak Grilled Beef Ribs: not my favorite, i found it a little bit too dry, but the flavor was nice –Fatty Brisket: holy crap, this brisket is enough to keep me coming back again and again. seriously fatty and just melts in your mouth –Sausage– smoked sausage… honestly, nothing too crazy or out of the ordinary ***Sides: Fried mac n cheese — i wasn’t a fan. the flavor was a bit lacking Potato salad — i’m a huge fan of potato salad but found these to be a bit too vinegar-y? Service here was amazing, the place has a nice vibe. finding parking wasn’t too hard when we came for lunch, but I can imagine it might be tough during dinner. we will definitely be back to try out some of their other dishes… and most definitely to get the fatty brisket again.

This spot was ok. Nice waiter. There were three of us, and there was no wait. I wasn’t super hungry, so I got the mussels small plate. By bf got a fried chicken special that had beef ribs with it. I didn’t try it, but he said the ribs were good, but they didn’t have enough meat on them. He didn’t mention the chicken… so take from that what you will. My mussels smelled very fishy. I only ate a couple of them before I got a little scared that they weren’t fresh… so I just stopped. The broth with them was VERY spicy, which was something I didn’t expect but it wasn’t bad. The fishy smell just killed it for me to be honest. I didn’t send it back because I wasn’t really that hungry, and everyone else was more then halfway through their vittles. Who wants to wait for a new plate? Where I’m from, ain’t nobody got time for that. Would I go back? MEH… probably not. It wasn’t horrible, but there are much better places.
