So badly want this place to be good like it was back in the day as the Sherborn inn. Had brunch yesterday with the family. First, it took over an hour to get eggs. I had eggs Benedict and the hollandaise sauce had zero flavor, it was terrible. One person asked multiple times for a bagel but that didn’t happen. Bacon tasted like smoked beef jerky. When they brought the food out they put everyone’s meal with the wrong person. It was so strange. Won’t be going back and disappointed this spot can’t figure it out.

I usually go to the ice cream place next door and one night decided to go into heritage. I thought it would be a good restaurant considering that there were a lot of cars in the parking lot. My mistake the appetizers were disgusting there were bones in their version of nachos and the wings were raw. The hamburger that God as an entrée was no better I will never go back to this place again. Too bad I really like the atmosphere.

My family and I are moving to the area and have seen the Heritage when driving by. We decided to try it out for lunch. I was with my 2 daughters and my friend who helped us move. The space is great. Love the atmosphere of the pub and there’s a great beer selection. We were seated promptly and a server came over quickly and took our drink order. After the server brought our drinks she took our lunch orders. My daughters each ordered chicken strips with fries, I ordered the burger with fries and my friend ordered the Cobb salad with steak. My friend also asked for some sweetener for his iced tea. Being from the south, my friend has to have sweet tea. As we waited for our food my friend was wondering if he was going to get the sweetener for his tea. The server had obviously forgotten about the sweetener, however we never saw her again until she brought the food out. At which point my friend asked again and the server apologized and brought it right away. However, not before she told my friend that they had run out of blue cheese for the Cobb salad. One of the key ingredients of a Cobb salad is blue cheese and was one of the reasons why my friend ordered it. Instead of telling him prior to bringing the salad out that they were out of blue cheese, the salad was brought out without cheese. When the server informed my friend that they were out of blue cheese she asked if he would like a different type of cheese. He asked what other cheese was available and our server said she didn’t know and would go check. Really? First you run out of a key ingredient for a dish but prepare and serve it anyway? Then you ask if he’d like a different cheese but you don’t know what is available? When she came back she told my friend that the chef recommended some sort of sheeps cheese and my friend said that would work. She came back with a ramekin of what could only be described as Kraft Parmesan cheese. I really wanted to say something however my friend would not let me, saying it was not a big deal and to let it go. With all of that said my friend thought the salad was pretty good but not worth $ 24. In my opinion there’s not a salad out there that’s worth $ 24 unless it comes with a side of lobster. My $ 15 burger was actually very good. I ordered it medium and it was cooked to perfection. The spicy arugula complemented the sharp cheddar and the crispy onions added nice texture. I do wish there would have been little more tomato jam. The fries on the other hand which would’ve been very good had a slight fishy taste. I can only assume that this is because they used the same oil for the fries that they used to cook the fish for the fish and chips. And unfortunately this flavor carried over to the chicken strips as well. Which were heavily battered under salted and tough. There wasn’t a lot of flavor and there wasn’t a lot of chicken hiding under the batter. I really wanted to like this place as it’s the closest restaurant to the house where we’re moving. It’s a little overpriced for the quality, $ 75 for two orders of chicken strip with fries, a burger with fries, a not Cobb salad, two sodas, a beer and iced tea. However because it’s the closest place to the house where we’re moving, I’m sure we’ll be back. Maybe they’ll change the fry oil by then.

This restaurant was a favorite of ours when it was the Sherborn Inn. The ambiance was comfortable-elegant, the food was very good and the prices were reasonable. The first two factors still apply, but judging by our Mother’s Day experience, the third no longer does. Mother’s Day brunch at Sherborn Inn used to be a rich affair. The buffet was overflowing with tremendous variety, including shrimp and oysters on the half shell. You could eat enough to stay full all day, and the price was reasonable. Under the new management, the buffet has been eliminated and the prices raised. The food was very good, but the portions were small and the service was slow. Brunch lasted nearly two hours, which is a long time for two five-year-olds to sit still. The bill was $ 200, without tip. It’s not surprising the place wasn’t very crowded.

Really fun. Great food, generous drinks, warm, welcoming staff. If you’re a fan of LaMorra as we are you’ll love this too. A change of pace for sure with an eclectic American menu but so well done. Delicious and warm.

All is can say is «sad». A local institution has been ruined. Unfriendly management, inattentive staff and mediocre food at best. Over priced for the quality. I’m sorry to say I wish the old Inn was still there. Won’t be going back ever.

I was anxious to try this fairly new restaurant that replaced the Sherborn Inn. The owners also own the very popular La Morra in Brookline so expectations were high. While the décor is updated, the layout is pretty much the same. All of the different rooms had the same problem– very loud noise levels. There was not one place where you could hold a normal conversation. Sound dampening panels are needed on some of the walls. Even the room with 5 tables had this issue. Now, the food– ordinary at best. I had the chicken which, while very moist, was nothing special nor was the side of potato gratin. The lobster bisque was more like a soup than bisque and again, not much flavor. My husband had the seared tuna which was also mediocre. The service was extremely slow also. Overall, I was extremely disappointed in the evening.

Having dinner between approximately 6:40 and 8:20 on a Friday night — as we are paying the bill(check was just placed on the table by waitress) a «manager» comes over and tells us to hand the credit card to her to run«bc she needs the table right now» — wow!, we are embarrassed/surprised at the awkward scene — we do so, finish paying and leave(with our drinks still on the table unfinished) — manager calls out to us as we walk out the door«you are welcome to try and find seats at the bar if you want» — rude, unprofessional and very unlike years of lovely service when«Heritage» was the Sherborn Inn — sad to see another quality establishment erased in favor of a classless money grubbing fake.

We went to Heritage this past Sunday for brunch. I will begin by saying, the food was excellent. We were a group of four and everyone enjoyed their food thoroughly. The building is lovely, the atmosphere is nice, and there is plenty of parking. Now for everything else… the service was lacking. I think it took us 2 hours to have brunch and we saw our waiter about twice. We weren’t given small plates for appetizers, despite asking 3 people, leaving us to sit and look at the appetizers for about 20 minutes. I ordered a mimosa and it was 95% orange juice. There were not shades or curtains on any of the windows so we kept needing to shift because the light was in our eyes. I’d probably try it again for dinner — eat at the bar because the service looked better. But I don’t have my hopes up very high.

My first review was in 2015 when they opened. Here’s my review as of today Jan 23, 2016: Today we went with another couple to brunch. They had not been so we thought we would try it again. As you can see from the pictures it is absolutely lovely. It is striking and done in a very contemporary farm house look. Now, mind you, we have been going to this location for nearly 30 years and it has gone through three different owners in that time. We made reservations a day in advance, and when we got there, even though it was nearly empty, they had no table ready and we had to wait for them to clear and set up a table — there was nothing to the set up, not even a table cloth, as we requested the bar area. We waited about 15 minutes. A nice young man waited on us. We ordered Mimosas and coffees and four pastries which were sticky rolls — on their menu it says pastry basket which the old Sherborn Inn used to do, the waiter said they took it off the menu as not enough people were ordering it… so we ordered the four rolls one for each of us — never got them. We had: 1) the Eggs Benedict, the bacon was all fat, seriously, just the fatty part of the bacon. It was good, warm, not hot, but okay — about what you could anywhere else. 2) the Bread Pudding French Toast, it was okay, but again the bacon was very fatty, and a side of scrambled eggs — which were good. 3) A corn beef sandwich which was plentiful but dry and chipped not sliced, with a potato salad and chourico — it was okay, good sized, but dry and common. 4) Quinoa burger with really really really, yes, ‘three reallys’ over cooked French Fries — again not hot, but warm, rather room temp. For dessert we had: 1) Butterscotch pudding which comes in two little espresso cups, it was pre-made and had sit in the fridge, when you spooned into it there was a thicker film on top, we also ordered 2) the Gingerbread cake which was a small little molten type of bundt cake — it was good, but average and 3) the Chocolate cheesecake — really really really, yes, ‘three reallys’ dry, the chocolate flavor was good, but it was one small piece not even dressed with a strawberry — very plain and unmotivated. We had no silverware, then got it, and that was after they set up the table, another young man gave us soup spoons for dessert, and there was no salt and pepper on the table — we had to ask for it and the salt came in a little dish with a little spoon, and the pepper came in small grinder, my reason for saying this — is that — they seem to be putting on airs. When we came in we had to wait and mind you the dining room was empty, and the other two dining rooms empty(we walked through while waiting) and the bar was half empty… when we went into the lounge area with the one fireplace the one owner was at the long table with 3 other women working on something or chatting — no greeting or acknowledgment. When we went into the bar area the table was smack in front of the fireplace, two of our backs were about 3 feet from the fireplace — and there were other empty tables. It got WARM. One of the blond female managers or someone of status came out of the kitchen and was schmoozing it up with two men at the bar… but paid no attention to anyone else. Those who were there waited patiently. Here’s my take… it just doesn’t seem friendly or welcoming. It is like — ‘thank you for showing up, eat your a la carte food, and now go home. Be grateful you can come to such a nice place and enjoy our food.‘ I guess I am comparing it to years, heck, decades, or staying with the place… it was always a neighborhood, townie, friendly, kind friendly, welcoming type of place. Friends of ours daughter works there and she is very careful in what she says — as they are always bringing in new people(kids) firing other ones — and the turnover is high, but even she indicated that it is not such a friendly place. But being of school age it is a reasonable job. They did not rush us, but also, it was like, it didn’t matter if you were even there. The food is much the same as the first time we went. No paintings on the walls, no décor, just minimal. We ate at 1 prime time, and only one new table walked in. The food… well… is is just okay. Nothing special. For four of us, lunch-brunch came to $ 132.00 not including tip. It will be interesting to see if they make it… my take is they won’t. They don’t seem to get it, and the attitude is like ‘we know what we are doing’ and to heck with the community… we’ll do it our way. My guess is that it may make it as a catering place for events, private events, like graduation, weddings and funerals and memorial gatherings. This day and lunch — brunch really saddened me as I was hoping that our friends would have had a GREAT experience. All the elements seem to be there… but it just isn’t coming together in a ‘feel good’ with yummy food way.

Brilliant addition to the neighborhood. While the formal dining restaurant is not yet open, the lounge, pub and wine store are. The Pub and lounge are both very cool and welcoming space, replete with roaring fireplaces and soaring cathedral ceilings. The pub offers a short(and apparently seasonal) menu that has something for everyone. I recommend the quinoa and mushroom burger. It’s going to be in our regular rotation. Waitstaff were quite attentive. One item that does need to be dramatically improved is the poor excuse for bread that is served. For a nice meal, such tasteless wonderbread shouldn’t tarnish the table.

When you enter the place you’re somewhat wowed with the nice ambiance(given the other options in the area going west). I guess this used to be a farm house that is now a bar/restaurant and hotel. The restaurant is really nicely done and I thought we finally found a goto –date night– place but the food was just horrible. I mean dry and bland, barely edible horrible. To add insult to injury, expensive as well. We’ll try again as I really want this to work but looking at the other reviews, unless they replace the management/chef, it will be another disappointment.

We wanted to try something different for Christmas Eve for the family and really wanted a nice evening out not far from home. Given that we were a large party of twelve, I made reservations before thanksgiving to ensure we had a table. Despite those being made well in advance, when we arrived we still had to wait another half hour to be seated, and then we were stuffed into a dark function room instead of the main dining area. So dark that reading the menus and seeing the food was problematic without using our cell phones. Our servers were very nice when they were there, however overall service and food was spotty and very slow. We sat for another fifteen minutes before getting a drink order in, and then after placing the entire tables prix fix order had to wait almost forty-five minutes for the first course. This course was wonderful, pillowy gnocchi with an oxtail ragu, crisp fried oysters in lemon tarragon aioli, and a great romaine salad with blue cheese. Unfortunately another forty-five minutes to the main event, and then the three of us who ordered the sirloin medium or medium rare all ended up with very cold blue rare. All of those were sent back and returned well done, as were two served at another table in the room. The cod entrée was lovely, though the duck was not; at this price point it should have been a seared breast and not a leg, it could well have been chicken except for the fat level. Two under-done and very thin lamb chops came as the lamb entrée, though to be fair they did not bill it as rack of lamb, and the risotto and lamb ragu that came with those chops were both stellar. Dessert was also meh, not so good apple crisp though the chocolate pot de crème was dark and rich. However both would have benefited from more than the miniscule dot of whipped cream. Utensils were also taken away between each course and then new ones were sometimes returned, sometimes not, leaving us to look at our food unable to eat on a few occasions. An attempt at high end service which can be lovely when well executed, though falls flat when not. Such an overall dissapointment, especially at a $ 65 per person price prior to drinks, tip, and taxes. At that price point service should have been spot on and the food consistently spectacular. I’d had high hopes for this place given how much I enjoy La Morra, never mind how lovely it would be to have something of that caliber in the area. This was just not up to that level of an experience, even after several months to work the kinks out. It is overpriced and left us and the other customers in the room underwhelmed and dissapointed.

For Metro-Westers, there were high hopes for this spot. The Gastropub, at least, doesn’t live up to those hopes: overpriced(but decent) pub food, soulless décor, distracted staff. Cocktail and wine pours feel mincing. Along with other reviewers(and after three visits), I suspect the place lacks leadership. I’ve never seen a person in the place with urgency or the look of passion. Still, there’s a sense of potential, with a passable wine list(try the Sonoma cabernet) and a general ‘clean’ feel – it’s a blank slate, really. Were I a betting man, I’d wager a serious manager could make this place a real destination. I’ll try again in a few months.

I went here the night before Thanksgiving with my family. I’ve been here a few times and still iffy about it. On Wednesday it wasn’t too busy but staff took forever. 15 minutes to get 2 glasses of wine? Yea shouldn’t he long as it wasn’t busy. Reason why it took so long was because the staff members thought it would be great to have social time. I’ve never seen so much socializing in s restaurant. Where’s the manager or owner? Do they not care? Food came out decent but the prices are ridiculous! 13 bucks for grilled cheese? I had the pork ragu which was good. Another thing I noticed was they were playing classic rock in the bar area. You don’t really need music. They need to change things around. Lower prices and get better staff. We aren’t Brookline. We are metro West I hope the owner see this and makes changes. Sherborn Inn I miss compared to this place. Classic american food.

Great food, nice atmosphere, solid beer and cider selection. Looked like there were some good signature cocktails too. I’ve been here twice this past week and both times sat at the bar. First time I ordered the arugula salad and the bluefish entrée. Arugula was notably crisp and delicious. Pickled beets that accompanied were memorable. The bluefish was grilled; crispy on the outside, juicy inside with a mustard sauce and some corn ragu on the side. All delicious. This paired nicely with a tank seven farmhouse ale recommended by the bartender. Second time I went for fish&chips. Said it was cider battered. Really good stuff. Fries were great too. Bartenders were very friendly, service was fast and attentive, food was fresh and tasty and the beer was cold. No complaints here.

I don’t often write revies on Unilocal.I had such a great experience here that I was motivated to come here and write a review. I was surprised to see so many negative reviews here. I don’t get it. I have been telling everyone that will listen to me what a local gem this place is! My wife and I first came and got appetizers and drinks at the bar in the pub. The atmosphere was great, and the service was top-notch. The appetizers we ordered were all delicious and the speciality drinks we tried were also very good. The bartender made a margarita with a special jalapeño infused tequilla. Yum! I was so impressed I asked for my wife to arrange for us to come back for my birthday celebration. This past Sunday we came back for brunch. 8 adults and 3 children. My kids ordered the pancakes and they were honestly some of the best pancakes I have had in my life. And I have eaten a lot of pancakes! Everyone LOVED their meal. I looked around the table after the brunch and ALL8 adults had a completely clean plate. That is rare. My family members were all talking about coming back soon. This restauraunt is a local GEM! Come on Unilocal reviewers, this place deserves some better ratings than it has been getting.

Location and setting provides a 1 star… food is poor, service poor, Margarita Pizza $ 14…absolute joke, meatballs 3# terrible, dinner option over priced and string beans sent back dried out, and when I asked for a simple candle to sing happy b-day…how can the waitress forget? So sorry to see this established option in Sherborn is now lost.

In the weeks after Heritage opened, eight reviews appeared on Unilocal, most fairly negative. Then they ALL disappeared! Pretty suspicious… A friend and I had lunch here about a month ago and were very disappointed. We dropped $ 50 on mediocre food, tiny portions, and terrible service. Instead of writing a negative Unilocal review, I wanted to reach out to the restaurant to let them know our experience. The owner responded quickly and promised to send a gift certificate so we could give them another try. That was more than a month ago. This area desperately needs a good restaurant and I hope Heritage can get its act together. The space is nice, but right now that’s the only positive aspect. Disappointing.
